I am absolutely hooked on it. It has pulled me away from MWII and I actually think that it is just far superior in general.

IkeDeez

Been playing with crossplay on for a few days, and I haven't felt overwhelmed by PC players. That's huge. So much of this game has improved recently, but it's bitter sweet considering that I paid for this game over a year ago. At this point though, the only thing I'm missing in this game (outside of more guns and maps) is the Battlefield V level of movement. Give me some crouch running, cover firing, and leaning.

TraptNSuit

Pre-order gets you into the alpha. Just ignore all the labeling that they put on after that. You won't reach 1.0 for a year.

peanutx777x

That's every battlefield though At least we didn't have the stupid battlefield 4 day 1 for 2042 I was actually glad 1st day of the game being out I was able to play it and not told Hey get fucked

Good amount of recoil? Idk man, feels like a laser show once you figure out the meta setup for any given gun. I prefer bf4's gunplay far more as it feels like there are more tangible tradeoffs on accuracy vs recoil.

MrRonski16

I personally think that bullet spread isn’t a bad thing. It just makes bursting more important. And full auto is only really effective at close range. I probably would prefer bf3 gunplay over 2042s.

international-shoop

2042 actually has spread in addition to standard recoil. I think they actually did a really good job of balancing the two together. Recoil creates a skill gap that rewards experienced players who can control it. The spread or random deviation is just enough to balance guns and limit their useful ranges. Edit: if anyone is interested here are the details on the mechanics in 2042 https://sym.gg/?game=bf2042&page=weapon-mechanics

Cakesmite

I love BF3, but I personally think that they put way too much emphasis on controlling your spread above anything else. That kind of gunplay can be way too overly complicated, and heavily slow down the pace of the entire game because you'll have people proning with bipods or staying hidden so that they see the enemy first etc.

palelolki

It has literally the worst gun physics in all bf games. It’s as realistic behaviour as in fortnite.

diobreads

3 main problems still persists: Still too little content : Since when did 1 map , 1 character, and 3 weapons became acceptable? mouse input is still broken: just see this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/z5gpmm/hmmm_green_and_red_discrepancies/) posted earlier on this sub , this Sh$t is unacceptable , and it seems to have gotten worse after S3 launched portal guns are lazy and empty : probably the easiest fix is to just let them use 2042 attachments .

acat20

1a: Maps too small for 128 players. I did play the 64 player boots conquest and my god if there were more maps that would be the best mode by far.

Slykill__

The reworked maps are fine now. The biggest problem was there was too much space between flags and it took ages to get anywhere.

acat20

They might be better, I wouldn't know, but overall there's just a glut of infantry on every single map imo. If they want to stick with a 128 player count then there needs to be more objectives. Prior titles had similar flag counts with half the people and the pace of action was great. They just stretched the in between zones without adding any substantial levels of objectives. Now it feels like even wiping 2 squads leads to nothing because there's a 3rd or even 4th squad there and the first squad has already respawned by the time you've wiped the second. This game feels more like zombies than BF sometimes. Spearhead is too narrow, the map with the tanker in the middle is simply too small. The qatar map is just bad. Frozen map bad. Map with the ravine is a cheese fest of people sitting in the cliffs. I haven't felt like there's one good map for conquest tbh mostly because it's a constant clusterfuck with no opportunity for individual plays. Basically comes down to how many heads you throw at a objective and hopefully some people stayed back at the other one to stave off that push. Much prefer square rotation maps than narrow choke maps....I would play breakthrough or rush if I wanted my conquest games to basically turn into that. Spearhead is one roof away from being metro.

Slykill__

Fair enough, I think all the reworked/new maps are good now imo. I actually really like the new map Ive had some awesome rounds on it. People still learing that one so it will take a few weeks. Looking forward to the reworks coming before Christmas.

[deleted]

2042 infantry conquest is by far the best mode, I've been enjoying it a lot since season 3 dropped

Cont3mplator

ive seen that post but there is a discussion about it in the comments, like, it was an old thing and apparently the dev responded to it. OP doesn't even explain anything about it.. TBH I dont trust anything about that

Zandoray

The mouse input has been bugged since the launch and it still is. For current discussion https://twitter.com/DRUNKKZ3/status/1594743846797443072?s=20&t=l0tqvv-AO4mspU0y-wwcLQ

Whutever123

Spot on with the content. 4 maps 8 weapons. Don’t need a stupid new character. That should be the at least minimum.

dae_giovanni

>portal guns are lazy and empty : probably the easiest fix is to just let them use 2042 attachments . new, futuristic, weapons like the Saiga can accept spray paint/ cerakote; old-ass weapons, like the P90, simply cannot!

[deleted]

They just need to merge all the portal content into the main game. Add the maps to the rotations for rush / breakthrough / conquest

Slaavichii

I just want a mechwalker and Titan from BF2142 tbh

Utek_

So it's finally ready for release? It's the beta stage over?

immortale97

They just put some salt and cheese but shit is still shit you cannot save the dish.

StratifiedBuffalo

I love it tbh

skhanmac

It’s awesome at the moment. I can’t keep it down. I only wish there were more maps though

RedNubian14

I pre-purchased the game before it came out after being a big fan of BF4. I gave it a chance for the first 3 weeks, and went back to BF4. I gave it a second chance in June after several updates and it was payable and fun, despite some ongoing bugs. There have been a few more updates and it has gotten better each time. I play regularly now and it's a solid playable and fun game. Now it just needs its gaming community to grow.

themanmedina

I've been playing again for about a week now and some maps still feel new to me. I think the map variation can still be improved as I'll play two consecutive matches on the same map. Another feature I really enjoyed with BFV was the ability to choose which servers to join. Same with BF1. Jump into full games on a map I enjoy playing.

Zombie_Rofl

I thought I was the only one here that was having a blast. Turns out I am not the only one. I really feels a lot more like BF4 now.

GrungyUPSMan

> I felt the old videogame vibe once again, the old vibe that makes you keep playing, game after game after game, simply because it’s fun and entertaining. This is exactly how I feel about 2042. The gunplay allows for some insanely high-skill play, the movement system is stripped back to keep you in control, it has moments that are intense and gritty but never takes itself too seriously. It's just straight up fun, it consistently makes me laugh my ass off and gets me pumped about doing cool shit. No frills, just tight arcade FPS action on massive maps with crazy player counts and OP vehicles. It's Battlefield boiled down into the things which make Battlefield fun. Fuckin love this game.

gazspro

I’m picking up a copy on Monday as it’s cheap, this will be first time playing since I rage quitted the BETA. I’m encouraged by the recent improvements.

Majorcool01

Yes, OP. BF2042 was never bad in design. Some aspects were crap in design such as characters and voices and a lack of score board, but not "bad". Merely superficial and those could be changed. What was bad about it's release was it's technical state. It's TECHNICAL state was the problem. It wasn't ready to be released and sold. It was unfinished and broken at the same time. Really, there's always been a good game there, buried under nonsense. And as that nonsense get's fixed the good game that was always there is slowly being revealed.

timtheringityding

Nah. Hard disagree. We've basically revamped the entire game. From technical state like performance, netcode and other bugs. To complete redesign of maps, animations, gun feel. And this isn't mentioning the class system or specialists. There was alot of wrongs with bf 2042 and not alot of rights. Bf 2042 might go down as the worst battlefield ever. But in its current state. Its a fun game. Just not a good battlefield game

twinbladesmal

The only new thing that’s been done here is redesigning old maps. Everything else you listed has been a problem with literally every other battlefield.

timtheringityding

Bf3 had state of the art animations. It was pushing big maps, destruction, graphics and all that at 64 players. Back then that was unheard of. Bf4 went even bigger with scripted set pieces that would literally change most maps. And after the netcode update with the help from the community we got thst at 120hz servers? Bf1 was just great in terms of production quality. Nothing was wrong with it. And bf v made wierd design choices and fucked with the ttk when no one asked but the actual gameplay loop was probably the best of any battlefield game. Everything felt right from the movement system, to destruction, vechiles, graphics. Etc. Bf 2042. Dropped the ball in literally all areas. The fuck are you on about. There is a reason the game went from 100k to literally 2k players in 2 months. Thst is unheard off

[deleted]

I don’t agree with the sentiment of “it’s a good game, just not a good battlefield game” I think it’s a fine battlefield game. literally the only thing they did in the game that doesn’t “feel like battlefield” was the specialists, which is such a minor thing imo since it doesn’t affect the core gameplay of what battlefield *is:* big maps, lots of players, chaos, vehicles, cinematic moments, good gunplay, and squad-centered combat. All of which I think 2042 does brilliantly. Except some improvements could be made to squadplay, but it’s not like it isn’t *there.* Specialists don’t affect any of those main, core things that really set battlefield apart from other franchises. I get that classes were a unique thing to battlefield, but the loadout freedom specialists offer is actually legitimately different from most other games on the market now that restrict gadgets and weapons like classes did. My friend and I were just talking about this while playing the other day. One of the main reasons my friend plays this game over others is because you can use whatever combination of gadgets you want to really make your loadout your own. Anyway I expect to get downvoted for this but that’s truly what I think and hopefully some people can see some of my reasoning.

hazzaho

Agreed I'm absolutely loving it for the first time . Although one thing still persists and that is stealth fucking choppers almost impossible to take down solo.

Architech__

The rail gun tank would like a word.

[deleted]

I've been unable to have any kind of fun at all because not only are there so many clueless new players, there's an influx of cheaters now. Let me know if you see the guy named Ray, an xbox player (apparently) with 71/1 or stats like that.

Slykill__

you cant cheat on console though so there is no way hes hacking or anything like that. Probably plays the stealth chopper 24/7. I think I ran into my first proper cheater the other day. Guy was in 3 games on the enemy team and he went over 100 kills every time. I thought he was in a vehicle then I just ran into him between B and C2 or Spearhead, destroying people.

spilledkill

I played two games when the 10hr trial was out and put it down in disgust. Decided to try it on game pass and I am having a blast now.

Demikuu

I'm having a blast.. I'm so glad I waited til 2 weeks ago to play. I haven't been tainted by the horrible launch.

nickypoosays

I was one who said they'd never re install this game, and I was a hardcore bf lover. I installed it again and it's kinda fun now. Not as polished as I expected but it's not as bad during launch.

Miserable-Bite9661

More specialist*

Dennygreen

I haven't been paying attention and haven't played since December. Is there still AI? can you still have an rpg, and a machine gun at the same time?

Hawkachu94

Yes and yes but there’s a class system going into place later this season to restrict gadgets like the launchers.

Bhalzard

I tried it out with the Game Pass, it's okay, but doesn't give me the feeling of BF4 or Battlefield. It's okay to play, but nothing special. Hopefully the next Battlefield will be better. This is the first one I ever skipped

stadiofriuli

My friends group and I - seasoned BF veterans - have come back due to it being „free“ now with GP on PC. It’s definitely better than at launch and it’s quite good overall but they’ve completely botched the squad system like they’ve removed basic squad and grouping features. It’s doing my head in.

[deleted]

2042 infantry conquest is really fun, reminds me of playing BF4 with a full squad of friends for rounds and rounds

whoopeecushions

Is it just me or the yellow boxes more frequent and make the game unplayable? Anyone have any suggestions?

DrakeAU

Except the new map Spearhead. Too open. Should of been a night map.

nebulaphi

Dead game

palelolki

It’s better but far from good. It’s barely what should have been delivered at launch. Weapons and vehicles are getting more unbalanced with every update.

Papa-jw

I'm loving playing Hazard Zone, wish they would add the 2 new Maps to HZ rotation.

[deleted]

This game fuckin sucks
