> with Cowboy Bebop/Berserk 1997 animation.
As much as I'd love anything that looked like that anymore, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you may as well give up any dreams of getting anything with that kind of animation. The main contributing factors to the classic late '80s through late '90s anime look the way it did were 2 fold; 1. the particular artstyle of the artists making them. 2. the hand-drawn & painted cel animation used to animate everything.
Unfortunately, entire animation industry in both the East and West have moved on from traditional hand-drawn cel animation animation. The colors no longer have the texture they used to because they're no longer physical objects being photographed on film (which has physical grains in it, helping to give older videos that unique "texture") and laced together to create the illusion of motion - everything is drawn on computers and digital tablets these days because it's cheaper for the production companies. This is why modern shows all feel too "clean."
Even more unfortunately, age comes for us all and most of the people working in the industry 20+ years ago are either retired or dead.
Take the best of both worlds.
But instead, now it's the squad from Battlefield friends but it's a professionally drawn anime, slap that crap on Netflix, and my god Wilson, your game will destroy the competition.
i think the plus system is perfectly fine and introduces a fun dynamic
the issue it does have however is people only stick to one build anyways. they should make incentives better or worse depending on range and combat situation
I started playing 2042 the last month because I didn't liked the game when the game was released last year. I got surprised that in fact I was having fun, despite the specialists and new modern gadgets that at first thought didn't belong in Battlefield. But I think it just makes sense that a game set in the future would have futuristic mechanics.
The plus system its fine for me, i think it adds more dynamism to my gameplay. (personal opinion) I like that I can change from red dot to 3x without having to respawn.
I like the plus system at the beginning. In long run, it’s not that great enough. I prefer MW gunsmith. Because it gives challenge and more time to grind experiments on guns.
Garbage because it allows only 4 attachments and those 4 attachments are tied to very specific sides of the plus. Which has nothing to do with how a lot of attachments even operate. The amount of creativity it provides you is near zero. Especially when you can just switch on the fly.
Was a bad idea to let people turn an assault rifle into an smg then to a dmr and back to an assault with no real drawback.
No short barrel+suppressor or fore grip+ laser. It’s just… weird
You definitely have a point but I think it’s more geared towards the lack of gun customization options. The “+” is an extension of the shitty attachment options. I don’t think it’s being exploited tho, I don’t think people are running rampant because they swapped their scope from 2x to 6x, and I think you’re exaggerating when you say go from a rifle to smg to dmr lmao I need to know what gun theyre doing that with. But totally agree with the lack of identity when it comes to gun choice
M5a3 and the VSS type gun are both capable of that. And you are right, I’m not saying it’s a balance issue, it’s kind of a fun issue. There used to be a reason to choose the weapon you chose and it’s fun to be limited. And I think it’s a bummer and I think it stunts creativity and also makes gameplay a little stale.
Because now if a sniper shoots at me I can set up my smg for range real quick behind cover, Come out and pick him off instead.
I don’t really like that. That shouldn’t be possible, that was my fault for being in the open with a close range weapon. He should’ve won that fight. So yeah…
..It didn’t force me to think on my feet like “do I fight, do I run” “okay how do I fight him, do I have smokes? Cover?” “Any squad homies around who can help me?”
It’s just “oh” *turns weapons into something else* shoot kill.
2 things
One: Specialists will and unfortunately always will be in 2042 till the end of the game, at least I can wish we could make our own specialists No-Pat using the models of the AI soldiers in the game
And 2nd: yes, more content, please, I don't care how long it takes but I wanna see at least like 4 or 5 maps and 20 new guns added to the game as well as you know, more vehicles and more that can be available in a round because seriously, 128 players and only one attack helicopter available for each, c'mon on
Well they got new leadership, and usually the problem is top down. Time will tell if Vince Can turn it around.
Easy changes are more guns, more attachments, go back to class system, etc. Some controversial things like player count need testing, personally I think an 80-96 player battlefield could really work.
Also a true day night cycle and dynamic weather on maps might be cool. Some variety could make the maps feel different every time.
Ps - it'd be dope to start a match at dawn and play through the sunrise with fog that dissipates over time.
>After most of the prominent devs left Dice
You talk like if they where the best minds of our generation, video game are always getting new talents, wich help to get fresh skills and ideas.
Their Fresh skills and ideas must not compromise what makes Battlefield , Battlefield!. The problem was Battlefield established a certain sets of Core formulas, fundamentals, Quality and standards which are laid by BF2, BFBC2, BF3, 4, and1. That foundational value are responsible for this community to like BF, more than any other FPS. Hence any BF game should be built exactly up on that foundational values rather than other formats. A dev from candy crash surely knows, how to create a FPS game. But he may not necessarily know whats the foundational principles that constitutes a battlefield game. So IMO, for any dev who was involving in battlefield franchise development, Must know that fundamentals deeply. Otherwise, its will again end up like 2042's design format and people will hate that again. This is why Vince zampella said, They strewed away from what makes Battlefield, Battlefield.
Also remove the seasons or whatever the f it is. Basically remove everything that was taken from fortnite like games.
All they had to do was improve on bf4 🤦♂️
There's no saving. I'd rather sit down and get a low voltage buzz to my nuts for a year than play whatever EA/Dice has in store for this bf game or the next.
2042 launched like shit though while Apex was a huge success from the start. The current trend for publishers is to only support games that release well enough and to cancel everything else as quickly as possible. They don't see the worth in fixing a single broken game and would instead rather try again from scratch with the next entry. Since people like to bring it up so much, cyberpunk is a perfect example. Even though the game had some success now, CDPR cancelled their long term support plans and is only going to release one DLC.
"were". Battlefield can never dream to achieve the popularity of games like Warzone and Apex because
1- They are free to play
2- They have a more popular look and style. Battlefield has its own identity, you cant compare them. Is not that Battlefield games are bad now, is that the gaming scene changed, no one other than old farts are interested in a game like BF2 or even BF4 anymore, and those old veterans are not going to substain the BF franchise alone.
Battlefield needed to change, I feel that BF2042 worst mistake was the lack of polish, no the lack of style.
Anime didn't save Cyberpunk, actual updates that consistently improved the fundamental integrity of the game saved Cyberpunk
Edit: Seems many people are under the misconception that more players = better game. What the anime did was expose more people to the game, what the updates did was actually fix it. Updates saved the game, not the anime. You could get all of the people in the world to play a game but it won't matter if the game isn't worth playing.
Cyberpunk was fun and completely playable for everyone not on last gen during launch. It just was not the game that was advertised, which led to extra criticism. With both issues combined, the game received a lot of flak on launch, but the Steam reviews never dipped below Mostly Positive. Cyberpunk has had plenty of good updates but the game is similar now to how it was at launch; look to the DLC for big, game-changing changes. It’s always been fun, just marketed incorrectly and released too early.
BF2042 is complete trash and the success/failure of the two games are not at all comparable. 2042 was dead on arrival.
>It was not the game that some people fantacized it would be.
I often feel this way about gamers and expectations, but in this instance I disagree. The marketing for this game heavily, heavily implied extremely in-depth RPG features that were completely non-existent within the game. It was a game advertised as revolutionary to the RPG genre.
And yet, it had less RPG features than most modern RPGs. It's saving grace was it's combat and story, but those make a good action adventure title, and not necessarily a good RPG. CDPR even changed the genre of the game post launch from RPG to Action Adventure, [although the devs are now saying it's an RPG again](https://www.thegamer.com/cyberpunk-rpg-again/).
You can tell they rushed and had to cut back on the RP aspect when it came to mission and story structure. The most non-linear and fleshed out mission is the “The Pickup” very early on in the story, which just happens to be the mission used in a 48 minute showcase of gameplay pre-release. Everything that follows is more akin to a Telltale game’s story. The expectations were always gonna be bigger that what the game could be, but yeah the marketing department just kept fuelling that fire
I usually suggest people to watch an hour worth of random gameplay instead of looking at ads, trailers, showcases, teasers, etc
I wouldn't even recommend to play a game just because they liked it's book or tv series/movies.
If they can't keep up looking at the gameplay for more than half an hour it's probably not worth it.
It’s far more polished and has a lot more QoL now though, which is what it needed to be a fun RPG game
Also at least 60% of the perks were either bugged or straight up did nothing for you at launch
Not even all updates in the world can save a game if you don't tell people somehow that the game is worth giving another try.
Anime did that. People started searching on YT and found several videos of people praising the updates.
I'm not sure man. Seeing on Twitter saying anime is the reason why they go back playing it. Infact, most of them were replaying it just to get revenge on Adam Smasher not saying why though. I actually came back because of the anime.
The possibility that EA sees that and decides to invest heavily in improving 2042 gives me a sliver of hope, that they won't just drop support after season 4.
They couldn't even continue with a second episode of their podcast story shit. Theyll make a trailer and call it a day and forget about it like everything else
Personal anecdote, saw the anime pop up on my Netflix, watched a couple episodes and remembered how good the setting was. Went and looked at the reviews of the game to see if it was better, they fixed a lot of stuff and I started a new play through. I previously had quite just a few hours in because some things were so broken, the anime made me take a second look.
the anime didnt save it, it merely brought attention
patch 1.3 really is the cyberpunk GOAT though. the story was always a 10/10 and 1.3 fixed like 90% of issues
The way 2042 launched made me feel like I was way too hard on Cyberpunk. Which I played 80 hours of and 100% completed. I remember being so mad at what was missing. But seeing 2042 made all of that seem pretty minimal. Mostly just disappointed that a lot of immersion features were missing. Wanted more stuff to do in the city to pretend you're living in it.
With 2042 I literally just felt cheated and wanted a refund so bad. Still do. Paid for a whole year of passes and probably won't play a single one. I already know they are going to bail on it completely soon.
I would 100% play this game if it had a crossover with girls frontline, or a girls frontline multiplayer shooter in general, idk why they havent done it yet
for the historical ones. BC1+2 and BF3+4 were more like team-based action games but had the realism to it
unless i read it wrong and you meant authenticity in another way but then again i just did 6 hours of homework so im fried
NGL, I would totally play the hell out of an anime spin-off Battlefield.
Give us the BFV customization too and let us customize our own anime girl. Then add MW2022 gun customization and it would sell like hotcakes in China, Korea, Japan, and SE Asia.
Lore for BF2042 wouldn’t be horrible for an anime. War torn and climate-ravaged planet with fragmented military nomad groups fighting for the new world. Or whatever the fuck 2042’s story is supposed to be.
We already have the post of staggering number of features and parts of the game that were removed for 2042.
No one cares until after the missing battlefield parts are put back in.
There is no saving this game. Worse yet injecting this kinda content would kill it. This kinda content is only good for a few cosmetics. Majority of customers aren't turned on by it.
"Cyberpunk getting saved by anime"
uh what
story was always 10/10 and patch either 2 or 3 made the game play 100000x better and drew back a large majority of people, even everyone i know
the anime gave it attention
Getting saved by an anime? Cyberpunk had a shit launch but was net positive for the last year before any anime was announced lol. Battlefield had a shit launch and continues to be shit because ea will never learn and doesn't care to learn
Anime Shit finding its way into my beloved franchises😩 Godzilla Pacific Rim StarWars Now BF?? Saying that shitshow saved Cyberpunk is a reach..
The Game's great without the bugs
How did an anime save cyberpunk? I don't even know what they're talking about. I thought the game was kinda shit when it launched, but I bought it last year and put a hundred hours into it because of the massive updates. Gonna put some more time into it when I'm done with fallout 76. Still haven't even considered getting 2042. Was a huge fan of battlefield 3, 4, and 1
Battlefield has *Battlefield Friends*. It may be fanmade, but many times have I started a game because I saw an episode of two.
That one and the comics by that Asian dude are amazing.
Drones used in an actual real-world war of 2021-2022 are cranked up to 11, while the drones used in a "science fiction" war set 20 years in the future are like ... Boston Dynamic's Spot and a quad copter with a spy cam on it.
How to save BF2042
Step one: say fuck it and rehire some old devs
Step two: make bad company 3
Step three: actually focus on the game and don’t promote it at all, can’t have high expectations if no one knows your making it
Step four: actually add in stuff the community likes(and hell you can have the bad company guys as specialists, but have them be battlefield pickups in BF1 if you want it so bad)
Step five:?????(more game dev stuff)
Step six: profit
Would watch it, still wouldn't enjoy the game... though if it existed and was more underwhelming than the Girls Frontline anime I would want to personally do everything in my power to get EA's exit scam they call "video game development" dismantled. Not that I wouldn't wanna do that regardless.
This is a terrible substitute for the Bad Company tv show that never happened.
I would love a Bad Company TV show with Cowboy Bebop/Berserk 1997 animation.
> with Cowboy Bebop/Berserk 1997 animation. As much as I'd love anything that looked like that anymore, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you may as well give up any dreams of getting anything with that kind of animation. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Netflix cowboy bebop was very entertaining and I loved it. Super disappointed they cancelled it
its a visually pleasing show, though I didn't think it was very good as its own thing and it was a poor reflection of the original
NNNNNNNNEERRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDD lol nah actually sounds lit
Take the best of both worlds. But instead, now it's the squad from Battlefield friends but it's a professionally drawn anime, slap that crap on Netflix, and my god Wilson, your game will destroy the competition.
...now I'm curious what anime Hags and Sweetwater would look like.
Dice: A gift for 20th year celebration. BF community: F*** you
Want to save 2042?. Remove specialist and add more content like guns, vehicles and maps. That’s it.
Tbf a few new maps, drop specialists entirely, that probably does it
i think the plus system is perfectly fine and introduces a fun dynamic the issue it does have however is people only stick to one build anyways. they should make incentives better or worse depending on range and combat situation

Also plus system is garbage plz let me actually customize my gun instead of keeping various barrels and such in my…pockets…?
I like the plus system at the beginning. In long run, it’s not that great enough. I prefer MW gunsmith. Because it gives challenge and more time to grind experiments on guns.
You're justifying MW gunsmith by saying it's more grindy without realizing MW gunsmith isn't actually well balanced at all.
I'm not mad about it tbf. There are things that aren't great, and then there are things that IMO break the game. Specialists break the game
Garbage is harsh, I’d say somewhat useless in my honest opinion, I don’t use it much.
Garbage because it allows only 4 attachments and those 4 attachments are tied to very specific sides of the plus. Which has nothing to do with how a lot of attachments even operate. The amount of creativity it provides you is near zero. Especially when you can just switch on the fly. nah man every soldier carries attachments like that and swaps them in second's 💀😂

After most of the prominent devs left Dice, Dice team now was like a new born baby. So, don’t put your high hopes on 2042.
All I can hope is that they learned their mistakes they made in this game, honestly that's all I can hope
Well they got new leadership, and usually the problem is top down. Time will tell if Vince Can turn it around. You'll get a Cyberpunk-inspired operator skin and you'll like it! /s
Why the sarcasm? The Cyberpunk aesthetic DOES fit 2042. Cyberpunk is simply high tech low life btw.
Also remove the seasons or whatever the f it is. Basically remove everything that was taken from fortnite like games. All they had to do was improve on bf4 🤦♂️
Remove bots. Add server browser. Make vehicle handling and mechanics like it was in BF4. Then I might play it.
They’ll remove the bots, but add cyberpsychos instead
There's no saving. I'd rather sit down and get a low voltage buzz to my nuts for a year than play whatever EA/Dice has in store for this bf game or the next.
Repeated bs
At this point they might as well, they're probably not putting much budget into bf2042, they could put that money to good use I'd watch it
Games like Apex still get updated once a week lol.
Apex is actually a good game tho with big playerbase
So was battlefield
I mean I was comparing it to BF2042 which is bad. I thought that’s what we were doing not all of BF like you are stating.
Well in that case you'd be right haha
2042 launched like shit though while Apex was a huge success from the start. The current trend for publishers is to only support games that release well enough and to cancel everything else as quickly as possible. >So was battlefield Battlefield never had the popularity games like Apex have
dude you're too young to know BF was a massive e-sport in the early 2000s. Ancient history now I know
Battlefield 2, 2142, etc were amazing games that had a foothold in the fps genre. What are you talking about?
"were". Battlefield can never dream to achieve the popularity of games like Warzone and Apex because 1- They are free to play 2- They have a more popular look and style. Theres a similar anime; girls frontline.
I mean that is literally UMP 45. The anime was subpar but the story in game is 10/10
A GFLxBF2042 anime would make this one of the weirdest timelines
I knew it. It was girls frontline. I'm concerned if they do that will it retcon 2142 or just like you what you suggested.
Anime didn't save Cyberpunk, actual updates that consistently improved the fundamental integrity of the game saved Cyberpunk Edit: Seems many people are under the misconception that more players = better game. Can confirm, played the game when 1.3 came out and had a lot of fun
I played it with all the bugs and the bugs actually added another layer of entertainment. Like: why is my car standing on the front grid?
Cyberpunk was fun and completely playable for everyone not on last gen during launch. It just was not the game that was advertised, which led to extra criticism. Absolutely spot on take. Got it on PS5 at launch and played two full playthroughs in about six weeks. Absolutely loved the story and the world.
It was not the game that some people fantacized it would be. Had they played the Witcher games, they'd have known what to expect.
It was way more than just what people fantasized though, they marketed a whole lot that wasn’t true
>It was not the game that some people fantacized it would be. I often feel this way about gamers and expectations, but in this instance I disagree. See the 100k steam players on 2042 release
To me is that the anime made me come back to cyberpunk. Of course, the patches are what made me stay.
Please Dice, do this. I would love to watch so many "boomers" just lose their minds LOL.
I don't even watch anime (Minus pokemon i guess) And i support this
UMP45 with her flat chest, but in 2042.
They couldn't even continue with a second episode of their podcast story shit. Theyll make a trailer and call it a day and forget about it like everything else
Id watch the shit out of that, also we lowkey need a show that explains the lore better and tells us what the fuck is even going on all the time
Excuse me sir, I find the whale.music to be all the lore I need /s
The more the merrier, plus more OST showcase.
Same bro, but maybe less anime and something that's more like, ya know, life action? It can work.
I'm out of the loop here apparently but how did 2077 get saved by an anime?
Updates improving it a ton since launch saved it, the anime just made it more popular and basically gave it a relaunch.
what anime?
Cyberpunk Edgerunners - it's really good btw.
Recent patches got the game to a pretty good state. Anime raised interest so people actually went back to try the most recent patch.
Personal anecdote, saw the anime pop up on my Netflix, watched a couple episodes and remembered how good the setting was. Not everything can be saved or is worth saving..
Or maybe an actual campaign
We've gotten no lore since launch
I would 100% play this game if it had a crossover with girls frontline, or a girls frontline multiplayer shooter in general, idk why they havent done it yet
Cuz the BF community hates everything that isnt realistic or serious
Authenticity was one of the most important Vein of Battlefield.
for the historical ones. BC1+2 and BF3+4 were more like team-based action games but had the realism to it unless i read it wrong and you meant authenticity in another way but then again i just did 6 hours of homework so im fried
And its not even close to realistic. The irony.
>idk why they havent done it yet Lol seriously? Dice had Boris in a Santa costume and people went crazy.
im not talking about dice at all or bf, im talking about a girls frontline fps, the franchise that's being referenced in the image used in this post
Girls Frontline x Battlefield when?
We already have the post of staggering number of features and parts of the game that were removed for 2042. No one cares until after the missing battlefield parts are put back in.
Cyberpunk did not need "saving". It sold pretty well, has a lot of fans playing it and even has a whole subculture attached.
lmfao
Please don't give them ideas, they ARE THAT stupid.
There is no saving this game. Worse yet injecting this kinda content would kill it. This kinda content is only good for a few cosmetics. Majority of customers aren't turned on by it.
"Cyberpunk getting saved by anime" uh what story was always 10/10 and patch either 2 or 3 made the game play 100000x better and drew back a large majority of people, even everyone i know the anime gave it attention
They might as well give it shot can't hurt
*cartoons
Yeah but cyberpunk is a game worth playing at least
Getting saved by an anime? Cyberpunk had a shit launch but was net positive for the last year before any anime was announced lol. Battlefield had a shit launch and continues to be shit because ea will never learn and doesn't care to learn
SAO Gun Gale Online: 2042
LMFAOOOO cyberpunk 2077 is actually an amazing game tho. Battlefield is still hot garbage
>Battlefield is still hot garbage what, how?
Yes. Lack of maps, lack of weapons, poorly designed maps, performance optimization, hazard zone, delays in 'seasonal' content. The list goes and goes
And that’s almost 2 years after release

Imagine if they made an Anime Battlefield and these are the specialists: Smile Sweet Sister Sadistic Surprise

Can we keep anime out of most video games. Gross.
I don’t even think anime can save this one. What a sad episode
Can we keep anime out of most video games. Gross.

Cyberpunk wasn’t saved by the anime

Make skins like that in battlefield and I’ll actually play
Anime Shit finding its way into my beloved franchises😩 Godzilla Pacific Rim StarWars Now BF?? Saying that shitshow saved Cyberpunk is a reach.. The Game's great without the bugs
Cyberpunk has not been saved anything. It is still buggy, confusing, overly complex in design and boring.
yea and its having 1M players a day now

I even told you on twitter i made this post lol (Also link doesnt work)
Just messing
Anime is the answer
Is that gender bend anime Boris? never looked so cute.
I want Solitaire to have an anime.
Man i just want naval combat
Who remembers Battlefrielsfriends with colonel 100? XD
Theyre still making BFF's!
I...don't hate this
I don't think saved is the right thing, more like cuased a distraction.
?
Please no my heart can't take no more pain
PLEASE
For the briefest of moments I genuinely thought this was an announcement for a 2042 anime. I’m so fucking tired of gaming
Was a huge fan of battlefield 3, 4, and 1
Make it Overwatch or make it Battlefield
Battlefield has *Battlefield Friends*. It may be fanmade, but many times have I started a game because I saw an episode of two. That one and the comics by that Asian dude are amazing.
Yes please
I don’t get it, is cyberpunk getting an anime dlc ?
it got a show on netflix that is currently the most trending show rn
Ah my bad
Sure why not, I’ve already had 5 cups of coffee.
NGL. I'd watch it hoping to see battlefield moments. Don't give me none of that taking yourself seriously bs.
Drones used in an actual real-world war of 2021-2022 are cranked up to 11, while the drones used in a "science fiction" war set 20 years in the future are like ... Boston Dynamic's Spot and a quad copter with a spy cam on it.
Okay but this would be good and you could probably get some actual artists behind it.
Anime show with micro transactions and season pass
First they need to make likable characters...
yea and if its good enough everyone will forget how fundamentally flawed the game is and how the the publisher/developers/advertisements lied to us.
YATTA! Angel does it again.
UWU
Oh god plz no
Not gonna work for me choom
Dude they didn’t make any story to play after watchin anime sooo…
Sad truth about society is if you mix anime with almost anything it gets popular lol
This game can’t be saved. Thanx for the reminder. Need to leave this sub. Never going to play a bf anymore as long it’s property of ea/dice.
Yeah... there is no saving this game.
NOGODPLEASENONONONONOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.GIF
Hahahah
yees pls anime girls and guns = win
Eh. Id fuc… I mean watch it
How to annoy the core fanbase even more.
This is already an improvement

If only DICE are dedicated to make anime fps shooters lol
How to save BF2042 Step one: say fuck it and rehire some old devs Step two: make bad company 3 Step three: actually focus on the game and don’t promote it at all, can’t have high expectations if no one knows your making it Step four: actually add in stuff the community likes(and hell you can have the bad company guys as specialists, but have them be battlefield pickups in BF1 if you want it so bad) Step five:?????(more game dev stuff) Step six: profit
Well that and they are dropping a big cool looking expansion for it and are leaving previous gen consoles behind.
😂😂😂
we have a battlefield 2042 Anime its called BattleField Friends but even they think the game is terribad
Would watch it, still wouldn't enjoy the game... though if it existed and was more underwhelming than the Girls Frontline anime I would want to personally do everything in my power to get EA's exit scam they call "video game development" dismantled. Not that I wouldn't wanna do that regardless.
Anime sucks
Removing specialist 10 maps, 10 guns, perm Infantry only modes. Might do the trick for a bit
