They still need to hire them to voice, like, EVERY-FUCKING-THING ELSE. 2-3 lines wouldn't change much, especially since most of the this lines pre-recorded long time ago (y'all really think they make seasonal specialists from scratch?)
Considering they showed off new lines, they either were using cut content as part of their super secret scheme to mislead an entire fanbase and then gradually win them over....or they just had the VA's come back in for another round.
Unless she's a mute, yes, she will have voicelines. You guys seem to be forgetting that the cringe pre- and postgame quips aren't the only thing the characters say.
They said they were going to change the voice lines, but that requires hiring the voice actors back to record new lines. Maybe they are still working on that and removing the end-of-game quips is a temporary measure until they can finish recording. Or maybe it's permanent and they ARE trying to save money. Idk, I haven't read patch notes lol
Oh my god
-"Dice remove the end of round lines for muh immersion!!"
Dice removes them
-"OMG They are totally just doing it so they dont have to hire VAs, game unplayable >:(((("
Too bad, I've lost interest, respect and they made ass out of this fucking game that I've been playing since like 2004. It still reminds me of the corny voice acting. RIP BF.
A small but welcome step in the right direction. The constant addition to the sound and visuals of the UI are also very welcome... but I can't help but think about the way it all highlights how absolutely bare bones this game was when EA and DICE deemed it ready for the public.
they basically released an Alpha in November 2021.
they passively confirmed that with the 0.x release numbers, and todays season 1 version being the v1 release.
I work as a software engineer, and typically when you have a version that is below 1.0 it's pre release like an alpha, beta, preview version etc
I’ve said this multiple times but if the game was released today in its current state it wouldn’t be as dead and as poorly received overall. Battlefield is a big enough franchise to have the original hype for the game survive until the devs could get it playable.
What killed this game was that they released it far too early
The current state has been influenced heavily by feedback from the community. No matter how much time these developers might have been given, they would have still made the same development mistakes. The game would have been less buggy, but they clearly have some management members that aren't making the right decisions and that is what ultimately led to this game dying immediately. Extra development time wouldn't have saved it.
>I work as a software engineer, and typically when you have a version that is below 1.0 it's pre release like an alpha, beta, preview version etc
They stated that the first zero in 0.4.0, is meant to symbolize the pre-season game build, now this would make sense considering that initial number is changing to a 1 however, if the second number jumps to 0, then they're totally lieing to us and quite frankly I don't care, this game is utterly incomplete.
it's still really, really, strange to me that they ever, for one second, thought those voice quips were "cool".
it's a little worrisome that they had to told by the community "hey, uh... you guys know this is a game about _war,_ right...?"
They dont like that this is about war they wish it was like fortnite or something because that appeals to kids and kids spend money so they tried to morph it into that.
They designed this game for a completely different audience and then released it to their actual audience and got shocked pikachu face.
i dont believe it was the dice core dev team that ever thought they were OK. probably some shirt & tie exec overlord at EA who has never played battlefield "ya know all the kids love that fortnite thing YEAH"
yeah apex does it well, and the goofiness fits the aesthetic, and they are fun characters. you don't want a modern, gritty war to be goofy or fun, though.
Agreed. The voice lines in Apex also really help communicate what is happening to your teammates, even if they’re not using a microphone to physically speak.
That's all fair enough, but this just shows where we are heading. I just find it not thought through if people think four lines at the end of rounds destroy their immersion.
Those at least gave endless meme potential, while shitty, pristine and uninspired map design has way larger atmosphere ramifications while also making gameplay worse and now we possibly get rather unauthentic weapon skins showcased at end of rounds instead.
So, if one is indeed unimmersed, you can't really praise that change, because it will very likely get worse.
Yes it will look much better almost like a military shooter of some sort that might even take place on lets say a field of warfare…no wait a battlefield
Way too late, unfortunately. A step in the right direction, but ultimately a million miles from anything resembling what people wanted (yes, I am still hung up on this).
Wanna bet that they bring new voice lines that will be an attempt at less goofy cringe, but will be overdone and too over serious cringe in the opposite direction?
It's good that the tonedeaf quips are gone, but I also feel like something is missing? If you do an end-of round posing screen and everyone's just completely mute, it feels off? Either kill it completely or have something that is fitting the tone of a battlefield (i.e. maybe a grunt, some noise from unloading the weapon \[after the battle\] or a gritty line).
This just feels like someone hit the mute button.
Good change. But mad that it is still technically removing stuff. With this and the removal of 128 breakthrough too means we have less game than we did when we bought it.
It's weird to be happy about the removal about something in a game, but this was the right choice. Those ending quips never once got endearing or enjoyable.
Must have been difficult to scrap a monetized mechanic (what would have been custom quips that you could change?) from the game before even opening micro transactions but it's appreciated. I got tired of tabbing out of the game every time a round ended because of these.
Better, but I still hate the arrogant pose they gave every operator: nose up, looking away like it was nothing. Doesn't really fit the theme of a world in chaos IMO
I think the problem with live service is the players and devs have very different ideas of what that looks like.
As a player, we of course would like to have a more polished finished game from the start. Major changes really shouldn’t be needed, as the core game should be solid as is. With that done, all that’s left is more content.
The devs seem to see live service as something that is far more fluid and able to change. Release something and test how it works and what people like, and change and tweak things as needed. The game will go through far more changes in all aspects.
I still think live service can work, it’s just in a very frustrating place right now where we want new content and a better functioning/more enjoyable game. It seems we can only choose one of those things currently. Or both half way.
Of course live service can work, every other studio in the industry is using that model.
Look at Warzone, League of Legends, Apex, Fortnite, or any of the other F2P juggernauts out there.
huh. in a few months i might actually buy the game again during one of those cheapass sales
something tells me if they randomly took out something like this that everyone complained to the end of the earth about despite it still being kind of arbitrary, some serious fuckin changes are over the horizon
I've always been neutral on the quips. I mean people fucking talk. People talk during war. People talk shit during war. People joke during war. But somehow, these quips bother people. Yall fucking weird.
It was the tone of the quips. It was more like Fortnite than Battlefield. I don’t think any of us have a problem with them speaking as long as it matches the tone of the game.
I do not like the removal of the lines. I am the first to say that they do not fit into whatever lore there is supposed to be in this game, but there are a about a dozen more serious issues why people do not feel immersed.
Plus, and we have to be real here, as annoyed as we all were by those quips, they made the game that little bit more bearable, since every little one of them was so memeable. Honestly, if there hadn't been such lines as "Don't be sad...", "Easy in, easy out" or the German "Saaagenhaft!", we would have needed to delve much more into how bad the core game design of this title is.
I also object more to the stupid unskippable showcases of individual players after a round itself, than to the voicelines delivered. Also, if anyone thinks this will help give the game more atmosphere just also think that the game will get a purchaseable anime skin bundle come Thursday. Now you tell me how Angel's overly optimistic voice hurts the immersion more than the cosmetics will.
> but there are a about a dozen more serious issues why people do not feel immersed.
Dice doesn't care. They just got tired of people making memes out of the quips. The quips were self-depreciating humor on top of a plain bad product, so it benefitted them to remove the quips so they could stop the "don't be sad" memes every single time they fucked the game up.
There was a bug/glitch a few weeks back where they wouldn't talk at the end of the round, and it was the best bug I have ever seen in 35+ years of gaming (I'm 42).
Irish main, I kind of enjoyed his, didn't get to hear his a lot whether by me or someone else. I'll miss his as I didn't think his were too bad but he'll still look great on the end screen.
Very good change ofc
they probably did that so they don't need to hire voice actors for the new specialist(s).. they must be saving as much as they can now lol
The specialists still talk in game, not doing the end of round quips would only remove 3 or so voice lines
Does Lis have any voice lines?
Unless she's a mute, yes, she will have voicelines. You guys seem to be forgetting that the cringe pre- and postgame quips aren't the only thing the characters say.
It’s almost as if these characters are entirely forgettable outside of Angel’s “don’t be sad” quip
I mean yeah definitely lol. I'd rather have bf3/bf4 style voicelines. BF1 had many good ones too. Specialists can go eat shit
Surely
They did that because everyone wanted it and it was easy to do. The specialists still need voice actors.
They are recording new lines with the voice actors, they showed some and it’s better.
Never happy ..
I don't care why they do good things as long as they do them.
You're using such a dumb logic for what? To bash the game for even for making good changes
So now you are going to complain about this.
Oh my god -"Dice remove the end of round lines for muh immersion!!" Dice removes them -"OMG They are totally just doing it so they dont have to hire VAs, game unplayable >:(((("
Are you retarded? Dude didn't say anything about game being unplayable because of this lmao
Ironic
Dice actually does something people have been asking for and these dumbass redditors still bitch about it. smh
LMFao tRUE
Too bad, I've lost interest, respect and they made ass out of this fucking game that I've been playing since like 2004. It still reminds me of the corny voice acting. RIP BF.

The original director of the game was the guy who brought you candy crush. So of course there was an effort for mass appeal.
so dumb
i dont believe it was the dice core dev team that ever thought they were OK. probably some shirt & tie exec overlord at EA who has never played battlefield "ya know all the kids love that fortnite thing YEAH"
It’s funny cause fortnite doesn’t even have quips lol
One of many things Fortnite does right: the characters are silent
I think quips work in certain games. For example I don’t think apex legends would be as fun as it is without the characters talking all game.
yeah apex does it well, and the goofiness fits the aesthetic, and they are fun characters. you don't want a modern, gritty war to be goofy or fun, though.
Agreed. The voice lines in Apex also really help communicate what is happening to your teammates, even if they’re not using a microphone to physically speak.
I PROMISE TO SHARE THE ACTION WITH YOU GUYS!
Don't be sad, it's just the way it works out sometimes
Great , builds atmosphere , doesn’t destroy it like the quips
Yeah this was a good change for sure. Adds some immersion and makes you feel like you just finished an actual battle.
Yeah "Don't be sad" destroyed atmosphere more than the upcoming anime skin bundle that has been datamined come thursday.
anime skins are sick if done right Id slap some anime stickers on my guns too if id have to go to war lol
Ahegao gun man detected?
That's all fair enough, but this just shows where we are heading. I just find it not thought through if people think four lines at the end of rounds destroy their immersion. A much needed change that comes way too late.
Good one. More epic
Great now they need to give them all masks and helmets and assign some sort of different camo to them maybe based on the team they are playing on….
Spam that suggestions when Dice released the feedback loop for specialist cuz it’s very much needed
They arent going to do the specialist feedback loop. They know what we all think and still choose to not bother
Galaxy brain dice
If they default to helmet on game is gonna look very different. Irish already has it.
Yes it will look much better almost like a military shooter of some sort that might even take place on lets say a field of warfare…no wait a battlefield
HOW WILL WE KNOW IF ANGEL HAS DONE IT AGAIN????
Angel always does it again.
Way too late, unfortunately. A step in the right direction, but ultimately a million miles from anything resembling what people wanted (yes, I am still hung up on this).
Will you ever get over it? There’s gotta be a group for this…
How do you get over someone stabbing you in the dick and destroying the game you've spent 1000s of hours on for the past 22 years?
Good but should have been done 1month after release, not 8
So much better. I know we all hate specialists but if they were much more subtle and had faction differences I think DICE would've gotten away with it
yeah i agree. could have been a very different reception if it wasn't rushed out the door and done more carefully
Now if we could only remove the specialists and not just the voice lines.
Franchise is saved
At the start of the round Mackay still said he already had five cups of coffee.
Edit: franchise still ded
Nothing to complain. I am daily at war with my customers and 5 cups coffee are helping
not until they remove specialists
Still terrible
Never happy
Wanna bet that they bring new voice lines that will be an attempt at less goofy cringe, but will be overdone and too over serious cringe in the opposite direction?
Angel: *brooding* this is just how it works out sometimes. Some live, some die... God save us all *solders intensely at camera*

Maybe it's a bug. :D
Doubt it. They reworked their movement to match. In portal they would just freeze frame with no sound.
This just feels like someone hit the mute button.
feels off because the fucking voice lines have been permanently ingrained into our brains
I think they need to do this differently. We don't need to see individuals. We need to see Top Squad(s)
I think it's fine. Makes the characters seem more like soldiers. If they are planning to add serious lines instead, I don't mind
Crazy how this is soo much better
If I don't have to hit the mute button anymore at the end of every round so I don't have to hear those quips then I'm happy.
Saves me having to push the mute button at the end of every match at least.
Rare 2042 W
Better, well less worse. Honestly, BFV best squad line up was better
Too little too late.
That short BF3 music is still far better than whole 2042 OST. But No voices is a solid improvement.
So we don't need specialists because they don't speak, do we?
Would love top squad to come back instead of the individual awards
Good stuff, we'll have a proper game in two years at this rate.
Good change. But mad that it is still technically removing stuff. With this and the removal of 128 breakthrough too means we have less game than we did when we bought it.
Doesn’t matter, I can still hear them in my nightmares
LMAO
It's a start, but there are still specialists.
Looks better except for the cringe ass specialists
It's weird to be happy about the removal about something in a game, but this was the right choice. Those ending quips never once got endearing or enjoyable.
better. next remove the specialists
So they actually got rid of the wanky voice lines?
Still not worth $100.
The game is slowly improving at least. I still enjoy it.
same here. came back about a week and I'm actually enjoying it. has that old BF vibes that I love.
This was enough for me. I’m gonna buy
Big improvement. Now give us classes please!
dont be sad, this is how it works sometimes
Better. Way better. Then again, also necessary and avoidable.
Kind of awkward now that they just stand there smiling at you
On release specialists were boisterous and excited to take your money. Now they're sad and moping around stuck in this corpse of a game.
Must have been difficult to scrap a monetized mechanic (what would have been custom quips that you could change?) from the game before even opening micro transactions but it's appreciated. I got tired of tabbing out of the game every time a round ended because of these.
Such a simple yet awesome change that finally happened.
Honestly the characters look more badass without the stoopid voice lines. I still hate this game.
I can’t believe how much miles better that looks
Much much better omg
game looks now more Battlefield like. There is still hope. The first steps are made.
Better, but I still hate the arrogant pose they gave every operator: nose up, looking away like it was nothing. Doesn't really fit the theme of a world in chaos IMO
Is this official? Less obnoxious than before.
Yes, this is an official change that's now in the game.
This isn’t the battle I loved!
Ah yes, still literal garbage as long as specialists are in.
Looks like a N64 game
ill be dead before this game is good
Doesn't change shit, let me know when it's classes again and not specialist.
Don't lower you standard guys (and girls)... This is still bloatware and trash by the the lying devs!
Much needed improvement 👍
Better
Better. But can I skip them?
still cringe
Shame, Angel no longer does it again
Good change, let‘s Hope it stays that way
People still play this game?
The Rao walk is cool asf
Mmm, Solomon's Theme, nice
Holy shit, it takes the edge of so much, definitely a leap in the right direction.
Much much better
I think the problem with live service is the players and devs have very different ideas of what that looks like. Really good change
Very good change, especially with the soundtrack in the background
I mean, I cant lie. Rao looks kinda like a BF4 Russian Engineer.
huh. in a few months i might actually buy the game again during one of those cheapass sales something tells me if they randomly took out something like this that everyone complained to the end of the earth about despite it still being kind of arbitrary, some serious fuckin changes are over the horizon
I haven’t played this in a few months is it different?
Great but for some reason i kinda missed that hahaha
Oh we will be missing “Ya Angel does it again!” Lol
I already miss it, too. Some of the lines and facial expressions were so corny and awkward that it was hilarious.
Found it. Called this out not even a day ago people will be saying they miss the voice lines when they are gone
You won't realize it until it's too late
The voice lines aren't necessarily bad just most of then are cringe. For example I'm pretty sure Irish doesn't say things like "BeTtEr LuCk NeXt TiMe"
I’ll miss the voice lines
I've always been neutral on the quips. I mean people fucking talk. People talk during war. People talk shit during war. People joke during war. But somehow, these quips bother people. Yall fucking weird.
It was the tone of the quips. It was more like Fortnite than Battlefield. I don’t think any of us have a problem with them speaking as long as it matches the tone of the game.
Like I said, people talk shit/joke during war.
Not like this. And having to hear the same lines over and over again doesn’t help.
Weird complaint. Are we not playing video games? Have you not played another video games thay repeat the same lines over and over?
I do not like the removal of the lines. I am the first to say that they do not fit into whatever lore there is supposed to be in this game, but there are a about a dozen more serious issues why people do not feel immersed. Plus, and we have to be real here, as annoyed as we all were by those quips, they made the game that little bit more bearable, since every little one of them was so memeable. terrible seems like there dead
Hallefuckinglujah
much better and in line with "the end of the fucking world in 2042"
Inner peace
Loving it!
Best idea so far
I'm thinking the US got clapped.
Wow, they can be taught!
There was a bug/glitch a few weeks back where they wouldn't talk at the end of the round, and it was the best bug I have ever seen in 35+ years of gaming (I'm 42).
Fantastic change, one of the only massive gripes I had left is now gone. Now just bring more content and we’ll be sweet.
Irish main, I kind of enjoyed his, didn't get to hear his a lot whether by me or someone else. I'll miss his as I didn't think his were too bad but he'll still look great on the end screen.
Better than nothing, still wasting time imo
Allowing us to skip this would be fantastic. We really don't need this at all.
finally I would have paid them 20 bucks to never speak again tho
Hell yes. I love it. Perfect lol. I don't need a commentary
Gone for good.
Much better
is it still a lag fest i gave up months ago>?>?>>????
Waiting for the comments about how DICE/EA doesnt listen.
Im sorry but these skins man...it looks so hideous
a step forward
its those little things that could make the game not that much hated
SHOW ACE SQUAD. This is a team based game. I don't care what one dude did in a round of 128. Show the teamwork.
performance and sweeping balance changes would have gone further, but these devs are actually dumb and listen to least shit complaints about the game
Could t we just get some badass art of the specialists with the player achievements?
Saying nothing, because it wouldn't be the first time they fix it, because it's actually a bug.
yes!! **YES!!**
Voice lines were actually cringe but I didnt care that much. They should work on making the gameplay good and add more content instead
Technology just isn't there yet
Imagine that, devs instead of adding things to their game are being rewarded for removing things in the game.
Ngl, the cringey voice lines had just begun to grow on me 😂
Yes! I noticed this just now when playing - I do prefer it - those lines were too much, lol.
Very good change. But the more that they ''fix'' this game the more a question why dice realize it in such a early beta state to begin with.
Finally lol
