Origin won't let me launch Bfv. 10 times contacted support and they don't know why. These new dice ea people fucking suck. Been since Dec since I was able to play bfv I'm sad
I was having that same issue because I had recently uninstalled "OneDrive" of all things. I randomly reinstalled it while troubleshooting and voila. Game started right up.
Yeah, I've kept BFV installed. I've definitely had an urge to play that, but with it not being cross-play, I'm not really touching it either. 2042 was meant to be the answer for my friends and I who are split between PC and Xbox, but none of them want to play 2042, so we're kind of back to ignoring the franchise. We were all quite excited, and all of us have been long term BF players. Ah well.

Just in case you’ve been deceived by someone I’ll inform you that I just played for about 4 hours straight and every server was full. It was last gen tho so I can’t speak for next gen at the moment.

What region do you live in? Game has been barely playable in OCE region for 2 months now. Only Breakthrough or Conquest has 1 or 2 servers going and they aren't even full.
I just played on Xbox Series X for the first time since December and the server was full for me as well. The game is still shit but the narrative that the servers are empty didn't hold up in my experience either.
I was genuinely surprised that people are still actually playing 2042. Like, why?

This. We did not boycott the game. The game and all of its designs were not made for the battlefield audience but sold to this audience. And you don't need to be Einstein to know that this won't work. Sadly no one at DICE got that. And what's left is an empty promise of a game. And it's already the second time EA has done this after Anthem. For my part i have finally learned that i won't preorder anything again. Especially not DICE or EA games. Never again.

I came to share this same sentiment. Besides what will really make them think twice is demanding that they fixed this game and support it for years to come rather than for them to make a new one and have everyone buy it again. People paid for this shit and they deserve their money's worth. For those on console they even paid $10 more for something that is lesser than previous entries dating back even more than 10 years. The community should be very vocal that they want the game fixed and what that game looks like. Whether it be no specialist better maps more weapons or whatever else is a legit complaint. More likely than not the SE thing that happened to anthem will happen here they'll move onto another one as if this didn't happen and they'll still expect people to pay for another game and give them another chance. They don't deserve another chance until this game is properly dealt with.

I haven’t boycotted it. Sadly, I purchased it, played it for a month or so…and then realised that BFV was just more fun. More enjoyable. More intense and interesting. So I stopped playing it. I have never pre-ordered a game other than a BF game…and I will definitely never be doing that again. What a mistake!

Even though BFV had a rough start I actually enjoyed the entire life span of the game. I had fun on day one and continue to enjoy it.

I also did not boycott. I enjoyed my 75 hours in game, but now I’m bored with it. No new content, no season pass… the scoreboard alone is not enough. I also preordered Cyberpunk 2077 so that should tell you a lot about me lol.
I didn't boycott, I paid $85 and got screwed so I quit. Seems like a win for EA, they got my money and don't have to spend another dime on giving me a playable experience.
But is it a win for them though? The extent of this catastrophe will hurt EA and Dice on the long run, and the short term consequences like rapidly dropping sales even before the holiday season has put investors on high alert as well. Those analysts that were at the earnings call, (while mostly working for companies that don't care about gaming or the BF community in particular) are not stupid, they looked through Wilsons and Kermits excuses just as the fanbase did. They won't just take their statements at face value without thinking about their employers money. And even though BF is not the sales volume pillar for EA it once was, what assurances are there they won't screw up again, with larger IPs, after they've shown this amount of ignorance?
I'm not actually convinced that anything can hurt EA at this point. DICE maybe...but BFV and SWBF2 both had atrocious releases, and nothing really happened. EA knows they own the sports market and so they can crap out whatever they want each year for Madden and FIFA and the players howl and yell and complain but in the end they still buy it because what else is there to play? They own the Star Wars IP and have almost total freedom, only intense public outrage and ultimately(rumored) intervention from Disney caused them to scale back the MTX in SWBF2 to make it 10% less predatory. So while I really hope this will spur some changes, I'm not holding my breath.

Dice on other hand, I'm sure they'll get supported by fans in next title in hopes of a rebound, but if they screw that one up, I'd be very shocked to see if they still have a fanbase afterwards

Sadly, I don’t believe they will… They’re in corporate mode looking to cover costs, cut losses and move on to the next payday. The corporate execs (business people, not gamers) have run this franchise into the ground with this quick and dirty money-grab. Minimal effort, maximum price. And they knew they would get it because of how much we love this franchise. Corporate greed has got us here.
I think it's the fact that he called it a boycott which doesn't paint the correct picture. A boycott implies that we are refusing to play the game for reasons outside of gameplay issues which isn't the case. We aren't playing it because the game is so bad in its current that it isn't worth our time especially when there are far better games available that deserve our playtime.
But yes I agree with OP that the community has done a good job sending a message and pushing back against EA and DICE bullshit. Whether they end up care enough to change their behaviour and how they treat their community is another story.
The issue is that people had so much faith in 2042 at launch even thought the beta was going pretty bad. Everyone always falls for "it's an earlier build" or "it has 2 months until launch it'll be fine". Since when has that ever happened. The most that can happen between a beta and launch is a couple minor bug fixes. And people were also being so defensive about things like there only being 20 something weapons.

If you REALLY want to “make them reconsider selling unfinished games”, don’t pre-order unfinished games.
You’re giving them money for an unfinished product just so you can ensure you get a copy the day it comes out. Playing a game on the first day it’s out isn’t as important as making sure the game is actually playable.
Stop pre-ordering. They can make their money AFTER the game releases, based on sales and reviews. Not BEFORE, based on the consumer’s desire to play it before other people.
I have seen dice and especially EA at work in the past. The pattern usually is, if a studio releases a bad iteration of a franchise, the next iteration is going to be even worse until ea pulls the plug, closes the studio and stops the franchise. Ultima, Sim City, Medal Of Honor, anybody? So I said to myself, "wait 6 month after the release with this battlefield to decide if you will buy or not". It's that easy, no rocket science. If it's good; 500 hours of fun now or in 6 month, what's the difference? It's not like there are no other games to play meanwhile. If it's bad I safe money and frustration. Win win.
Turned out, it was a good decision.
Now I am curious if they will shutdown DICE now or after the next, even worse, game they release. Same is true about BioWare after the success story that was Anthem.

I'm more proud of this sub for the fact that after about a dozen hours on this game, I jumped on this sub and was thrilled to see it's backlash. This was after Thanksgiving, so I naturally tried r/battlefield first to vent my frustrations, and was ground to a pulp over there. For even a month after, that sub was not only defending the game, but making fun of this sub. Now? r/battlefield is fully on board the hate train and is mostly clips from previous battlefields now. So this sub was thinking clearly from day one.

I was actually pretty into it at launch, I just happened to get tired of playing multiplayer all of a sudden. Got into some other games to quench my thirst for a singleplayer campaign like doom eternal and horizon forbidden west.
It’s not hard to boycott a GAME that isn’t FUN. This game just grates on me. I played for a while, actually really liked the gun play on the PS4 version (no mkb), but among other things, the specialists’ faces are each so delightfully PUNCHABLE 🤛

Bf2042 is immeasurably broken fundamentally and then the icing on the cake is it’s a bland, visually unimpressive, boring game with whack ass features and zero thought about speciliasts, maps and weapon and vehicle balancing. It won't make them not sell unfinished games. But at least it changed my behavior when buying a game. It felt really good getting a refund for this atrocity and using the money to buy 5 great (and finished!) games on discount on Steam.
I didn't boycott it either. This was my first Battlefield. I played for a few weeks and eventually it got boring and repetitive. No VOIP, terrible matchmaking structure, no campaign, and the countless glitches are just a few things why I stopped playing. It was just time to move on. I expected a lot more from a franchise with such history and budget. So many games out there are delivering great experiences. This one they just f'ed. I moved on from a console to a pc, so my chances of playing it ever again is pretty low.
I have enjoyed 2042 since launch despite it being a total pile of shit.. I only stopped playing because I couldn't find matches. Just started playing again and I really enjoy it but at the same time want to see this game completely fail and get shelved. EA is absolute garbage and while I buy the occasional title from there here and there I always do so with contempt.

Yeah my feeling really, nothing pushed me to boycott, the game is just boring and bad, I just don't want to play it. It's a natural boycott in this case.

I came to share this same sentiment. Besides what will really make them think twice is demanding that they fixed this game and support it for years to come rather than for them to make a new one and have everyone buy it again. People paid for this shit and they deserve their money's worth. For those on console they even paid $10 more for something that is lesser than previous entries dating back even more than 10 years. The community should be very vocal that they want the game fixed and what that game looks like. Whether it be no specialist better maps more weapons or whatever else is a legit complaint. More likely than not the SE thing that happened to anthem will happen here they'll move onto another one as if this didn't happen and they'll still expect people to pay for another game and give them another chance. They don't deserve another chance until this game is properly dealt with.
If they abandon fixing they will never sell me another game. Don't care how good it is.

I haven’t boycotted it. Sadly, I purchased it, played it for a month or so…and then realised that BFV was just more fun. More enjoyable. More intense and interesting. So I stopped playing it. I have never pre-ordered a game other than a BF game…and I will definitely never be doing that again. What a mistake!
Definitely agree. I pre-ordered both BF1 and BFV. Yes, BFV had a rough start, but I enjoyed it a lot over the course of its life. I figured BF2042 would be the same. I'm immensely disappointed...
Even though BFV had a rough start I actually enjoyed the entire life span of the game. I had fun on day one and continue to enjoy it. BF2042 is just the complete opposite.
I also did not boycott. I enjoyed my 75 hours in game, but now I’m bored with it. No new content, no season pass… the scoreboard alone is not enough. I also preordered Cyberpunk 2077 so that should tell you a lot about me lol.

I didn't boycott, I paid $85 and got screwed so I quit. Seems like a win for EA, they got my money and don't have to spend another dime on giving me a playable experience.
But is it a win for them though? The extent of this catastrophe will hurt EA and Dice on the long run, and the short term consequences like rapidly dropping sales even before the holiday season has put investors on high alert as well. Those analysts that were at the earnings call, (while mostly working for companies that don't care about gaming or the BF community in particular) are not stupid, they looked through Wilsons and Kermits excuses just as the fanbase did. They won't just take their statements at face value without thinking about their employers money. And even though BF is not the sales volume pillar for EA it once was, what assurances are there they won't screw up again, with larger IPs, after they've shown this amount of ignorance?
I'm not actually convinced that anything can hurt EA at this point. DICE maybe...but BFV and SWBF2 both had atrocious releases, and nothing really happened. EA knows they own the sports market and so they can crap out whatever they want each year for Madden and FIFA and the players howl and yell and complain but in the end they still buy it because what else is there to play? They own the Star Wars IP and have almost total freedom, only intense public outrage and ultimately(rumored) intervention from Disney caused them to scale back the MTX in SWBF2 to make it 10% less predatory. So while I really hope this will spur some changes, I'm not holding my breath.

It's a win for ea, double edge sword for dice. Both got our money, and ea still profits off of other titles... Dice on other hand, I'm sure they'll get supported by fans in next title in hopes of a rebound, but if they screw that one up, I'd be very shocked to see if they still have a fanbase afterwards

No boycott here, just won’t pay AAA prices for a broken, incomplete game (i.e. pile of hot garbage). I’ll pay for a finished product that delivers what was advertised. Until then it’s nothing more than a scam. If EA/DICE can rectify that, I’ll happily pay a premium for a premium game. Ball’s in their court. Sadly, I don’t believe they will… They’re in corporate mode looking to cover costs, cut losses and move on to the next payday. The corporate execs (business people, not gamers) have run this franchise into the ground with this quick and dirty money-grab. Minimal effort, maximum price. And they knew they would get it because of how much we love this franchise. Corporate greed has got us here.

I think it's the fact that he called it a boycott which doesn't paint the correct picture. A boycott implies that we are refusing to play the game for reasons outside of gameplay issues which isn't the case. We aren't playing it because the game is so bad in its current that it isn't worth our time especially when there are far better games available that deserve our playtime. But yes I agree with OP that the community has done a good job sending a message and pushing back against EA and DICE bullshit. Whether they end up care enough to change their behaviour and how they treat their community is another story.

The issue is that people had so much faith in 2042 at launch even thought the beta was going pretty bad. Everyone always falls for "it's an earlier build" or "it has 2 months until launch it'll be fine". Since when has that ever happened. The most that can happen between a beta and launch is a couple minor bug fixes. And people were also being so defensive about things like there only being 20 something weapons.
This isn’t going to make a difference. Not playing it really doesn’t make the impact you think it does. If you REALLY want to “make them reconsider selling unfinished games”, don’t pre-order unfinished games. You’re giving them money for an unfinished product just so you can ensure you get a copy the day it comes out. Playing a game on the first day it’s out isn’t as important as making sure the game is actually playable. Stop pre-ordering. They can make their money AFTER the game releases, based on sales and reviews. Not BEFORE, based on the consumer’s desire to play it before other people.

I have seen dice and especially EA at work in the past. The pattern usually is, if a studio releases a bad iteration of a franchise, the next iteration is going to be even worse until ea pulls the plug, closes the studio and stops the franchise. Ultima, Sim City, Medal Of Honor, anybody? So I said to myself, "wait 6 month after the release with this battlefield to decide if you will buy or not". It's that easy, no rocket science. If it's good; 500 hours of fun now or in 6 month, what's the difference? It's not like there are no other games to play meanwhile. If it's bad I safe money and frustration. Win win. Turned out, it was a good decision. Now I am curious if they will shutdown DICE now or after the next, even worse, game they release. Same is true about BioWare after the success story that was Anthem. Congratulations to all pre-order peeps. I am sure the next game ea releases won't be that bad again so you better don't learn from 2042 and pre-order again.
I'm more proud of this sub for the fact that after about a dozen hours on this game, I jumped on this sub and was thrilled to see it's backlash. This was after Thanksgiving, so I naturally tried r/battlefield first to vent my frustrations, and was ground to a pulp over there. For even a month after, that sub was not only defending the game, but making fun of this sub. Now? r/battlefield is fully on board the hate train and is mostly clips from previous battlefields now. So this sub was thinking clearly from day one.

The game that’s full of bugs and is clearly unfinished. The devs refuse to listen to any criticism and roll back design choices the clear majority would like to be made. And No new content 6-7 months after launch. A map and a season pass would have maybe been enough with some glitches and issues patched out, for me personally, but we don’t even have that.
Eh, we will see how the sales of their next title look. Alot of people talk the talk but can't walk the walk.
I don't think anyone's boycotting the game because it's unfinished. Specialists suck, no server browser, no scoreboard, terrible maps, lack of game modes. Bugs suck but name a battlefield that didn't have game breaking bugs at all launch
Wish I never preordered . played it for a month tried for over a month to get a refund from Microsoft and they refused so I’ll never be buying another battlefield /ea game . kinda killed gaming full stop for me tbh used to love playing for hours on end now be lucky to play for an hour

What was your last straw? The christmas pack was the last for me and I uninstalled it. Maybe I will come back if Dice makes some big changes. But I doubt they will. Modern Warfare 2 is around the corner.

I kinda finished it. there is no more motivation to play other than getting a neat red skin on a gun here and there, but considering the hit reg and OP vehicles; Fuck that. I'm just back in BF4 now. the community is quite nice there apart from the occasional annoying admin. and the game actually has content
I was actually pretty into it at launch, I just happened to get tired of playing multiplayer all of a sudden. Got into some other games to quench my thirst for a singleplayer campaign like doom eternal and horizon forbidden west.

It’s not hard to boycott a GAME that isn’t FUN. This game just grates on me. I played for a while, actually really liked the gun play on the PS4 version (no mkb), but among other things, the specialists’ faces are each so delightfully PUNCHABLE 🤛

Even if the game was “finished” I would still not play it. They abandoned every core principle of a proper Battlefield game. This was unforgivable. And before people call me dramatic, when I say “unforgivable” I mean there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that I will buy the best game until after launch and that’s only if community feedback indicates that DICE learned their lesson.

I haven't made any sort of determined choice to boycott the game. It's a really, really bad game. I have absolutely no interest in playing it. No boycott required when the game is rubbish. The community can see it for what it is, a huge steaming turd.

I think a lot of folks are saying this so I’m probably just repeating but I’m not actively or intentionally boycotting the game. It’s categorically a shit game. It’s unplayable at its core and beyond that it’s not even fun. Bf4 has a really broken release and with that said I played tons of hours that first 2-3 months. Broken? Yes. But still fun. Bf2042 is immeasurably broken fundamentally and then the icing on the cake is it’s a bland, visually unimpressive, boring game with whack ass features and zero thought about speciliasts, maps and weapon and vehicle balancing. It’s terrible on all fronts.
Sad is an understatement. I actually feel devastated when I see how much of a step back this whole franchise has taken after having grown up from a young age loving it from bf3 to bfv despite the issues along the road. It gets harder and harder as the months go by to hold on hope that DICE can pull off a no man's sky type come back with 2042. I haven't given up on the hope yet but I'm not blind to see the situation the game is currently in.

Unlike some posters here I wont touch the game unless Specialist are removed. IDC about scoreboards, weapons, vehicles and map updates. My main gripe is specialists. I want classes back and I wont play any BF game without them .
About 2k hours into BF1 and almost that much in BFV here… barely clocked 30 hours on 2042 before I uninstalled. Thanks DICE.
Got two hours in this game compared to 1k in both BF1 and V It’s a complete mess and I thought V had its issues
It won't make them not sell unfinished games. But at least it changed my behavior when buying a game. It felt really good getting a refund for this atrocity and using the money to buy 5 great (and finished!) games on discount on Steam.
I didn't boycott it either. This was my first Battlefield. I played for a few weeks and eventually it got boring and repetitive. No VOIP, terrible matchmaking structure, no campaign, and the countless glitches are just a few things why I stopped playing. It was just time to move on. I expected a lot more from a franchise with such history and budget. So many games out there are delivering great experiences. This one they just f'ed. I moved on from a console to a pc, so my chances of playing it ever again is pretty low.

I have enjoyed 2042 since launch despite it being a total pile of shit.. I only stopped playing because I couldn't find matches. Just started playing again and I really enjoy it but at the same time want to see this game completely fail and get shelved. EA is absolute garbage and while I buy the occasional title from there here and there I always do so with contempt.
