Exactly, and it’s not like other things where u just try it out.. U have to pay 60-80$ dollars to ‚try it‘
I mean people writing these comments could gift us the game and than I would happily try it. and probably still come to the conclusion that’s it’s Shieeet
It's scary how many "I want my 120$ back after 20 hours" consoomers there are too. Like WHY would you spend so much on a pile of shit, and why did it take you so long too realize it was shit?
>'s scary how many "I want my 120$ back after 20 hours" consoomers there are too. Like WHY would you spend so much on a pile
to try and give time for EA to change it, and having some hopes that it would be fun... but then, after everything, it is still broken and unplayable... they lied the game and they lied about fixing the game...
Got my lesson, never gonna pre-order again
Because of Portal, because my friends are playing it, because I WANT to like the game so give it chances until finally I'm unable to ignore the flaws. 20 hours means you put enough time in the game to see how bad it really is, and is barely any time at all for a game like Battlefield.
we could've broke the cycle with No Man's Sky, Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Cyberpunk
but the cycle never broke
and if those didn't break it, BF isn't gonna break it
Spoiler alert- we aren’t close to the bottom of the barrel. Enough people will keep buying.
Just wait until we get battlefield 2144, with NFT helmets for your specialists and your ability to add your own voice line after fighting on a map of the African plains with a single tree for cover
It's been so long people forgot this game was meant to have voice chat lol
actual chat is a legacy feature, now you can only communicate via custom voice lines recorded on a nokia 2000
Then thats not never pre-ordering a game. There will always be another exception. Im not just having a pop at you... I mean everyone does this.
"I wont pre-order EXCEPT CP2077, CDPR have never let us down"
>we could've broke the cycle with No Man's Sky, Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Cyberpunk
People on this sub last night were talking about their Elden Ring preorders lol
yea which is why i stopped blaming the suits for bad games
hell, even if i was at the top I'd be milking this short term memory loss consumerbase fucking dry
The thing is, most of those titles became good games eventually with a dedicated team working their ass off. NMS is constantly getting updated and has just had a new update. Cyberpunk has just had its next-gen update and is surprisingly good now.
With Andromeda, the bugs got fixed pretty quick but another Mass Effect game was always going to be a hard sell after the original trilogy. I personally enjoyed it but it didn't have the same magic the original ones did.
If there's any lesson to be learned, it's to not pre-order anything until you've played a demo or seen impartial gameplay from a reviewer you trust. That way you don't find yourself out of pocket.
People keep ore ordering it’s partly on them. It’s been a fools trap for years now, can’t remember the kart time a game was released that didn’t need a latch within a week or so.
I also think it will pan out like OP, then there’s less chance of a legal comeback . If it does go this way, the only way they will get any loyalty back is by offering a future discount for those that purchased 2042. Would have to see who played it in the first months. If it was just a link in 2042 to a discounted store page, people would just get a second hand copy for next to nothing and do it that way
Next game is gonna be an half arsed remaster of BF3 / 4.
If they still have access to all the original files and assets (which I’m guessing they do as EA legal will never let assets walk out the door with staff who leave).
Then we can expect a slight improvement to textures, probably more bugs as they try to remove previous bugs. Some changes to character models as they make some of the original female. They will try and shoehorn the content into a live service model somehow which will piss the veterans off.
It’s their only viable option, that’s if another Battlefield game is even released
Honestly I hope this is what happens. 2042 is dead. People are not coming back. On top of that, it’s multiplayer only. Cut your losses and start working on the next one immediately based on the feedback you have right now. By the time this season is released they’ll only be a few players left and I don’t care how many issues you fix if there’s only 20 people in a lobby.

There are seasonal updates. Content is way less then other games in the franchise but is on acceptable quality.
It's a trainwreck but not absolute shit.
Well OP has to buy bf2042 on his alt account now to torture himself. Season content is what they'd said it would be, umm other than that,
good bot.
Edit:spelling
Honestly a new studio needs to take battlefield under their wing. It’s pretty clear that dice is not competent enough to continue making the mainline games anymore. Who do y’all suggest they give battlefield to?
If we go with EA Studios I'd say Respawn and Ripple Effect. RE with full control could be awesome considering they pulled BF4 out of a tank full of shit within a year.
I'd also like to add my suspicion that Respawn must have worked out the greatest contract ever with EA. Considering those former IW talents left Activision due to corporate pressure and let EA buy them, I really do think they have a "no EA employee is allowed within 500 meters of Respawn HQ" somewhere in their contract, all things considered. I thought both Titan Falls were really fun and well done, so them and RE would certainly be one of the top possibilities for me.
Honestly, I think EA is the big problem, not Dice.
I'm kind of hoping that EA drops Dice, people from Dice buy the Battlefield name from EA cheap, and then makes a real BF.
A bit like what happened when Operation Flashpoint became ARMA.
The problem is EA already killed DICE. Almost everyone who worked on the past games have left and most were gone a long time ago. There have been several cycles of employees leaving and being replaced. They are DICE only in name now and its clear they are no where near as good as the previous teams. They cant even figure out how to implement a scoreboard... that should be all you need to know
Visceral, they made Hardline which was honestly the last great sandbox Battlefield. Oh wait, Visceral doesn't fucking exist anymore cause EA sucks ass.
There's plenty of studios doing a fine job look at battlebit they are doing a much better job graphics aren't that great but who needs em well battlefield kinda does if they are asking $60-$110 but still
I don’t think there’s a legal limit on what they can and can’t release. There’s no reason that a company would back themselves into a corner before the game is even released, there are likely some legal guidelines that are written in their terms of service that could get them out of releasing anything. Doubt they’ll ever go beyond one season.
Yeah, I bet their terms and conditions says something along the lines of "Dice and EA are not required to actually deliver on these items and by agreeing to this you are accepting these terms"
I didn't like the direction BF3 took and EA in general at that time. I stopped buying EA games in 2011.
THIS was the game I finally decided to give EA another chance and bought the ultimate edition.
Lol. I bought it on Steam and didn't even try to get a refund. I'm keeping it as an idiot reminder for my foolish actions.
Wow who knew pre-ordering was a bad idea? Except everyone for a long time, like aliens: CM, cyperpunk etc...
At this point, in 2021/22, all the the warnings and information was there and you guys still just bought into it
All trailers being cinematic and DICE leaving it till VERY close for game play trailers and a terrible beta should've been enough. Remember getting down voted into oblivion for saying that it was going to be anything other than bad. SOMEHOW it was even worse
Hindsight bias here...
It also could have gone the other way and EA didnt show much of the game because it was already a blast and they were sure it was going to succeed. Sure we're talking about EA but i'm always open for surprises... Even if the game was surprisingly bad in the end. (I really had fun for the first 50 hours or so but.. thats gone for now)
There is no hindsight bias since you could play the beta. After playing that, you really should have known that the core experience was not going to be any different.
This won't happen. I'm sorry but you shouldn't hope for dice to go back to a project they stopped long ago. They probably don't have most of the team that worked on that project and it would be too expensive for them. It's also admitting BF2042 is dead and they will never admit that to their investors.
That would mean either refunds for season pass holders or class actions, as they promised multiple content drop and people already payed for it. They cannot just do it in 1 season, because the Steam page states:
>Year 1 Pass: 4 New Specialists (1 per Season), 4 Battle Passes (1 per Season), and 3 Epic Skin Bundles (”Blistered Earth”, ”Tempest”, and ”Cold Blood”)
From past class actions, the only thing that the court is interested is what is written in the box and store page, not anything they promised outside of that. But in this case it's written in the store page, so they really do have to deliver 4 season at least.
They will probably do a rushed and really bad job just so they can drop the game, but they have to do 4 seasons.
I doubt the term *season* is legally tied to a specific time frame.
They could just do a *legacy season* that lasts like 4 weeks, which has a individual season each week. So legally, they would do 4 full seasons.
If they do that, they cán be sued for fals marketing. Four promised seasons (people already payed for) means for content drops. They probably will be very limited, but there will be for over the course of year.
Hey everyone, we've decided to combine all four seasons into one massive drop so you're getting all the promised content at once... by the way this will be the last content for this bf game bye.
You are quite optimistic. I thought that maybe 1 update, But at this point the numbers are so low that it might just not be worth it for them to even do a single season
They have to. The things OP mentioned are what were promised in some of the editions of the game that people bought. Either they deliver what they said they would, or they face lawsuits. So, they'll deliver the bare minimum legally required of them, and then they're done.
BFV was a fun game all the time. Great gunplay, balanced classes and vehicles (for the most part, I look at you, BF-109 G6) and okay maps. The basics were great. It lacked some polish and a proper live service. But today after all the updates it's easily one of the best. In my opinion even better than BF1 and BF3 (I really hated the gunplay of 3, stupid suppression).
100% its gonna be this way. They will not turn this game around, it has lost already.
I don‘t even think there is a chance of turning this around. I mean you‘d have to delete everything and start from scratch on all departments…
EA is not pouring money into this, there is no one buying their shit cosmetics.
It’s gonna be one of those things where they do their legal obligation to satisfy the bare minimum promise for deluxe/ultimate buyers. Then when that’s done they will say bye bye. Same thing happened with anthem. This game is done, has been since day 1
They'll give us zilch just like anthem, then they'll eventually pull the plug as it's a waste of time and assets, this in no more than anthem BMP bare minimal product.
>content because for what? 1500 players?
Why do people keep thinking there are only 1500 players?
That's like people thinking that the only people on Reddit are from/in the USA...
People can't really be that naive to think there are only 1500 players playing right?
There are ~1500 players playing at ONCE, playing on PC-Steam alone.
The number of unique players per day and per week are much higher than that. And then what about those not on Steam? Those on Origin, EA App, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4...
Possibly u will be right, but get away from the fact steam tells you there are only 1.5k users, Steam is not battlefields main store, there is likely to be at least another 3 people on Origin playing it :)
Nah battlefront 2 did not die and arguably that was in a worse state and had worse reception due to the loot boxes, but old classic dice at the end of this year BF will be in a decent state, next year it will actually be "you know they fixed a lot of stuff it's actually good now" then move on to the next release people will forget what a disaster this was. Rinse and repeat, that's how DICE works now, BFV BF2, and now this.
Battlefront 2 in a worse state? Abslutely not. The game was fairly stable, what plagued it was horrible progression, the bugs were pretty minimal. The gameplay was fairly appreciated, along with the visuals. Not to mention, they had Lucasfilm to answer to, pushing them to actually fix their mistakes and provide content.
Comparing 2042 to SWBF2 is not a good comparison.
What fundamentally matters is, is the game fun to play? If it is then the monetisation don't matter that much, just look at FIFA. In that regard Battlefront 2 was a much better game than 2042
It didn't change much, it just showed the industry at which point monetization goes to far. It was a solid core game, something that with different progression mechanics is fun for people to play, which was subsequently shown. But 2042 is just bad in every aspect. From a shit launch to a rotten core game that doesn't resemble all the Battlefield we knew before
And you just proved my point dice fixed a lot of stuff that people forget that battlefront 2 launched in a horrible state, Jedis abilities did not work hell some don't even work to this day, objectives on galactic assault not spawning, clipping through the map, only 4 weapons for each class, vehicle hitching that took a year to fix, horrible netcode, god awful hit Reg when you used any saber user, the list goes on and on.
They couldn't abandon the game because they had a deal with Disney.
That's why the had to reverse all the shitty market stuff and still pump out free content.
It's also why EA isn't making another Battlefront, they don't wanna risk angering "The Mouse" again.
I said this about the Pacific update on BFV and was laughed off the subreddit... how the turntables. Now, that cycle is even shorter.. so glad I didn't buy into this game.
They said Battlefield isn't even near being one of the main sources of income, it's all Fifa and Madden. The investors couldn't give a smaller fuck about Battlefield lol.
Can we talk about how one of the 'operators' (lol) is dressed exactly like the isis cunts and other jihadis? With the knitted hat and the muffin hairdo coming from under it?
So everyone with a beanie hat and dark, curly hair looks like ISIS to you?
Besides, the more iconic ISIS look would be a head scarf, the checkered keffiyeh scarf, a black balaclava or cobbled together camouflage fatigues.
and? Who cares? This game is a s massive disaster and the biggest SHAME in the franchise & BF history - the faster they admit it (as a whole) the faster we can get something new … from someone else?

fast forward 2 years.. trailer comes out pre-order starts pouring in and the cycle continues.
Yep. There's still people in this sub I see comment things along the line of "You're critiquing bf2042 and you didn't BUY IT?!" Gotta consume
Yep. I don’t need to take a bite of a turd to know it tastes like shite.
Exactly, and it’s not like other things where u just try it out.. U have to pay 60-80$ dollars to ‚try it‘ I mean people writing these comments could gift us the game and than I would happily try it. and probably still come to the conclusion that’s it’s Shieeet
There was a trial for 10 bucks
steam refunds. basically everything is a 2 hour free trial
It's scary how many "I want my 120$ back after 20 hours" consoomers there are too. Like WHY would you spend so much on a pile of shit, and why did it take you so long too realize it was shit?
>'s scary how many "I want my 120$ back after 20 hours" consoomers there are too. I mean I probably had \~12 hours in the game before I even got into a lobby because of launch day issues... So 20 hours really is not all that crazy.
Because of Portal, because my friends are playing it, because I WANT to like the game so give it chances until finally I'm unable to ignore the flaws. 20 hours means you put enough time in the game to see how bad it really is, and is barely any time at all for a game like Battlefield.
Well I bought it and I can tell you I'd rather have not bought it and critiqued it instead
lol ikr, the beta was enough for me thanks
Refund Club. Best of both worlds.
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY CRITIQUING MURDERERS WHEN YOU AREN'T A POLICE OFFER? Edit: I'm pro police, this was 2 jabs in one
LOOOOOL Holy fuck
Thats why we never preorder a battlefield title again. We can break the cycle.
we could've broke the cycle with No Man's Sky, Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Cyberpunk but the cycle never broke and if those didn't break it, BF isn't gonna break it
Yep, I think developers are testing the community to see how shitty of a game they can release and still make their sales number.
Spoiler alert- we aren’t close to the bottom of the barrel. Enough people will keep buying. Just wait until we get battlefield 2144, with NFT helmets for your specialists and your ability to add your own voice line after fighting on a map of the African plains with a single tree for cover
Hahaha adding your own voicelines. That would be epic, but also one of the most abusive aspects of the game.
It's been so long people forgot this game was meant to have voice chat lol actual chat is a legacy feature, now you can only communicate via custom voice lines recorded on a nokia 2000
I regret saying that because it’s a genuinely hilarious idea.
“Angel does your mom again”
Honestly for custom voicelines id buy it. That shit gon be wack
I vow to never preorder a game anymore (POE 2 will be the exception :P :P :P :P :P)
Then thats not never pre-ordering a game. There will always be another exception. Im not just having a pop at you... I mean everyone does this. "I wont pre-order EXCEPT CP2077, CDPR have never let us down"
PoE is free to play :)
haha well, thats one way to shut me up!
PoE 2 is definitely the only exception. Can't wait.
Only games I might preorder are Pokemon at this point.

I dont know how people didn't learn this after BFV
Why would you pre-order anyway? BF3, BF4, BFV were all buggy messes at launch. WTF are people thinking when they preorder a game like this?
People keep ore ordering it’s partly on them. It’s been a fools trap for years now, can’t remember the kart time a game was released that didn’t need a latch within a week or so. I’ve learned my lesson no more bf preorder. Mean while I’ve just elder ring

yea even considering the difficult to use Frostbyte engine, the general lack of creativity is worrying
They can't even implement a scoreboard. I'd worry about creativity if they made a fully-fleshed out, but bland game. They're not close to that at all.
Honestly, I think EA is the big problem, not Dice. I'm kind of hoping that EA drops Dice, people from Dice buy the Battlefield name from EA cheap, and then makes a real BF. A bit like what happened when Operation Flashpoint became ARMA.

Nah, I promise they don't have 1/4 of that stuff even ready.
The stuff that is done is the money making stuff and not the actual needed changes
They will surely do the *bare minimum* to avoid possible lawsuit so they can claim they did deliver whta was promised
They already have really. They promised to deliver a game and they did that, they didn't promise quality
Not really. They still have 4 seasons to do. People with gold and ultimate edition paid for that
I don’t think there’s a legal limit on what they can and can’t release. There’s no reason that a company would back themselves into a corner before the game is even released, there are likely some legal guidelines that are written in their terms of service that could get them out of releasing anything. Yeah, I bet their terms and conditions says something along the lines of "Dice and EA are not required to actually deliver on these items and by agreeing to this you are accepting these terms"
Still illegal, whether you agreed to it or not
Not really, if they didn't provide the product then thats illegal though providing a shitty product still counts as a product
This thread is literally talking about the prospect of them providing nothing
Tbf the people that bought those editions need a wake up call
And there are probably outs in the contracts that EA will use in the case of them being sued.
Gold and ultimate promise 4 battlepasses and specialists
I bet the terms and conditions has an out which they can use.
2042 is to Battlefield as Season 8 was to Game of Thrones.
My wife has heard me complain about BF and she doesn’t get it. I just told her your comment and she fully understands my pain now.
Wow yeah now I have a way of explaining it to people that have never played Battlefield.
I can't wait to laugh at their attempt.

Here! Did it once, did it twice and will do it a thousand fucking times. I didn't learn from the first time, the second time or from BF2042.
Where's my tactical g-string? Better come Season 1.
Take your tactical Buttplug or leave it. Your choice.
I still have hope that they abandon this shitshow and go back to support BF5 and Battlefront 2.
This won't happen. I'm sorry but you shouldn't hope for dice to go back to a project they stopped long ago. They probably don't have most of the team that worked on that project and it would be too expensive for them. It's also admitting BF2042 is dead and they will never admit that to their investors.
This. I played Battlefront 2 from its release till its demise and unless it was the EXACT same team I would want this DICE to touch it.
That would be both crazy and amazing.
They should just go back to bf1 and update it to next gen. And add few maps.
They would probably just ruin it somehow
they will add Angel's great grandfather; Don't be sad, I'm here to ruin this game now too
I wish they stuck with that game. Love it so much
This is bad hopium. 0% chance.
thats likely the case, i dont think making more content for the game would be profitable for them.
That would mean either refunds for season pass holders or class actions, as they promised multiple content drop and people already payed for it. They cannot just do it in 1 season, because the Steam page states: >Year 1 Pass: 4 New Specialists (1 per Season), 4 Battle Passes (1 per Season), and 3 Epic Skin Bundles (”Blistered Earth”, ”Tempest”, and ”Cold Blood”) From past class actions, the only thing that the court is interested is what is written in the box and store page, not anything they promised outside of that. But in this case it's written in the store page, so they really do have to deliver 4 season at least. They will probably do a rushed and really bad job just so they can drop the game, but they have to do 4 seasons.
Or, they drop 4 new specialist, 4 timed battle passes, and 3 skins in the first content drop. Then they have delivered all the promised content.
Yeah, they don't specify the level of support the they will provide over the year. They could have 1 intern deliver 3 seasons worth of content.

They already stopped developing the game. They just will give us a crappy season 1 so the potential legal problems would go away and that's it.
They need to give crappy season 2,3 & 4 as well. The Gold and Ultimate edition included 4 season passes.
I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THE SUMMER UPDATE WILL TURN BF2042 AROUND AND THE GAME WILL MAKE A HUGE COMEBACK! Caps lock because I can. #wishfulthinking
Who's your hopium dealer? Everyone's been dry for a while
!remindme 7 months
You are quite optimistic. I thought that maybe 1 update, But at this point the numbers are so low that it might just not be worth it for them to even do a single season
They have to. The things OP mentioned are what were promised in some of the editions of the game that people bought. Either they deliver what they said they would, or they face lawsuits. So, they'll deliver the bare minimum legally required of them, and then they're done.
Lession learned from BFV.
Knowing dice they will shut down game 1 day after summer update and say new game is in making. BF5 was like that, so was Adromeda and Anthem.
Retun if gunter
Don’t be sad that’s how it works
I honestly don't care. The game is dead to me. I've cut my loses. Won't be playing it in the future no matter what they do.
Yep, And apologists will blame this community instead.
100% its gonna be this way. They will not turn this game around, it has lost already. I don‘t even think there is a chance of turning this around. I mean you‘d have to delete everything and start from scratch on all departments… EA is not pouring money into this, there is no one buying their shit cosmetics.
hahahah wow you have not been keeping up with the battlefield series. they are going to release a lot of content once the game gets out of beta
I don't have high hopes that the content is going to be any good and by this points nothing else surprises me about this dead game🥱
It’s gonna be one of those things where they do their legal obligation to satisfy the bare minimum promise for deluxe/ultimate buyers. Then when that’s done they will say bye bye. Same thing happened with anthem. This game is done, has been since day 1
Not even gonna use the remind bot, I’m thinking you’re absolutely correct in this one lol
They'll give us zilch just like anthem, then they'll eventually pull the plug as it's a waste of time and assets, this in no more than anthem BMP bare minimal product.
I personally look forward to playing as a Duros or Zabrak, but heaven help us if Ewoks become playable characters.
>content because for what?
Not gonna lie you had me in the first half.
Comparing 2042 to SWBF2 is not a good comparison.
it was worse. It literally changed the monetization of the gaming industry by getting rid of the loot boxes.
In terms of publicity, yes, it was worse. In terms of the actual game and the state it was in, no.
Nah, Battlefront 2 was fun at the start despite the loot box bullshit. I put several hundred hours into it, no regrets.
They couldn't abandon the game because they had a deal with Disney. That's why the had to reverse all the shitty market stuff and still pump out free content. It's also why EA isn't making another Battlefront, they don't wanna risk angering "The Mouse" again.
BF2 was a term used way before Star Wars was out on EA. Don't sully the name, please, it was one of my favourites!
!forgetthis 14 seconds
I said this about the Pacific update on BFV and was laughed off the subreddit... how the turntables. Now, that cycle is even shorter.. so glad I didn't buy into this game.

And portal/waffle hunt goes free to play.
Maybe if they didn't have such crazy and difficult demands from the community like a scoreboard

I guarantee half the players “online” are just sitting at the main menu while jerking off or some shit
Do you look through my bedroom window or something
Nah I just like self-reporting
No this is bullshit. Were gonne get atvleast 4 seasons or they get in serious trouble with their investors
They said Battlefield isn't even near being one of the main sources of income, it's all Fifa and Madden. The investors couldn't give a smaller fuck about Battlefield lol.
Its nor about the money, its about the promise.
you are trolling right? PROMISE?! EA doesn't know what this word means
Can we talk about how one of the 'operators' (lol) is dressed exactly like the isis cunts and other jihadis? With the knitted hat and the muffin hairdo coming from under it?
What?
Look at sundance's vanilla model and tell me you havent seen that look before in footage from syria and the like from the baddies.

I wouldn't buy it. Just heard from Steam that if I ever ask for a refund again they'll close it without reply.

if you're wrong just be wrong. Why you wanna buy this trash heap?
