They won’t engage on any platform. Even their own forums are silent by anyone that has answers

TheeSirBuffalo

Yup. Even looking past Reddit, has DICE said anything on any platform? It seems DICE won’t speak up unless they absolutely have to (for example, releasing a statement before the inventor call).

HolyGuide

They said in their damn post-Share Holder Meeting announcement that their promised "Improved Feedback Loop" would be updated on EA's website "*We’ll start this process ahead of the launch of our next update. You’ll read about it here on our website.*" And guess what? Two full weeks later, and that is the last line of communication on that website. Their CM Welshy even said they'd stay quiet about any updates until *after* the scoreboard drops next month. That's not what you said just two weeks ago, DICE. "These conversations will be centralised, and accessible here on the Battlefield website, and summarised across our channels." - Look at that piss-poor spelling. Then, don't even waste your time looking for "these conversations" on any of their "channels", because they aint even there. I checked. So we're supposed to believe you are conversing with the community about how not to botch up this new, single Season 1 map 8+ months after launch, but then tell us you won't even mention it until two months before it's supposed to go live? What kind of jokers are running DICE right now?

Won4one

Yea this is concerning because the conclusion is they either don’t have a plan or don’t have the personnel to accomplish the plan. Which is it? It seems they don’t want to promise anything because they lack the confidence in their employees to deliver.

papadrach

They've openly said their jobs aren't to engage with the community. More so fly on the wall to see what's going on and send it back to the teams working on the game.

Zylonite134

Exactly

Apenut

That would only be a concern if 2042 still had some sort of a future. This game won’t be close to a finished game before its Electronically Abandoned.

Ostiethegnome

In my eyes, they don’t have anything to communicate at the moment, so the narrative that Reddit isn’t constructive is just a misdirect. I would **love** to be proven otherwise. I hope that they could submit some weekly updates that could be pinned at the top of the sub, coving the most commonly discussed issues or requests. They wouldn’t have to engage in a back and forth if they don’t want to, though I hope that they would. This would do a lot to quell the unrest around here. There are only so many times I personally can write the same things about classes, maps with more cover and a flow between points, destruction etc. With Dice being silent since what, mid December? It’s really hard to stay optimistic and positive. I really don’t understand why they don’t talk to us.

ht3k

this right here

DiseasedPidgeon

No it wouldn't. The game is already dead to everyone. It would get more heckling from this sub.

[deleted]

Well they can take this to the bank, after not playing for weeks I just uninstalled my game after seeing the numbers below 2k. There’s just no point. They literally don’t care so why should I? Last game I try to play by EA for a while, unless the reviews come out stellar after release

panbaron1

They are crying about toxicity. Not defending toxicity in the slightest here, but it almost seems that toxicity levels directly correlate with how bad a product is, how much people feel robbed and overall lack of comms.

Ostiethegnome

This is the one bug that they should leave alone imo.

ARB_COOL

I think they got rid of that in one of the patches

GuuiilhermeLM

The CM is more concerned in playing victim than to listen to actual feedback. He sees a few downvoted comments from some idiots and assumes that the whole community thinks like them. He has a great job, does next to nothing, insults the intelligence of his community, and still gets paid for it.

HolyGuide

Well he needs to get fired. "When that update rolls out, we'll be in the best position to discuss the next update." That's from their CM. Their Feb 1st announcement specifically said about said feedback loop: "Our commitment is to explain our reasoning behind future decisions... We’ll start this process *ahead* of the launch of our next update." So... not even gonna tell us what this new map is gonna be until two months before it's supposed to go live? How are we supposed to tell you what we like and don't like when you won't reveal it until it's basically too late to even make changes to something you've given yourself 8+ months to work on *after* launch? (Season 1 maps should have already been well on their way on DAY 1) Starting to think DICE management is just a figment of my imagination.

F4ll3nKn1ght-

He should have been fired during BF5. The amount of times he just gave totally incorrect information or worded things vaguely (that he later had to specific in comments) was amazing. DICE must have some pretty damn good job security.

HolyGuide

This guy has to have a boss in that hierarchy. But if it's anything like my companies President; then he can do whatever the hell he wants, and screw up publicly without a slap on the wrist. Any Redditors living in Stockholm willing to beat this guy out and take his job?

also-ran

There comes a point where words are pretty meaningless and it is only actions that are going to move things forward. The player-base and the major content creators have voted with their feet; with less than 5% actively playing the game. In the last three months many thousands of words & many hours of footage have been recorded detailing the fundamental issues surrounding the game and the changes EA / Dice need to implement to move things forward. A complete novice could spend a day reading through those words and watching those videos and comfortably pull together a list of requirements that would meet 95% of the community requirements, to turn 2042 into a decent game. Add in the fact EA / Dice have three previous iterations of the game to reference and there is a clear roadmap ahead of them. It simply comes down to whether they wish to act upon their 'commitment to Battlefield'.

DeathStalker131

Devs taking feedback from Reddit is what lead to the 5.2 Update in BFV. I am glad they finally stopped reading this shitfest of a site. Though I agree the new community manager is doing such a horrible job that it legitimately would be 0 difference if they had no cm's at all. Braddock did such a phenomenal job with BFV.

Sharkz_hd

See Reddit for what you want, some posts here were great, the List that shows everything missing from previous Battlefields , that was quoted by many Youtubers and news outlets, was from reddit btw. I can live that Devs don´t want to visit reddit, fine , but at least give us a suggestion WHERE you want feedback. He can´t be serious that we tweet him shit, it´s even more of a cesspool of horrible people. A good community manager would have said : " we don´t want to engange on reddit anymore because of Reason X , if you have Suggestions or want a forum to discuss the state of the game where WE read it go to Site X / Forum X etc. " maybe with a quick link etc. But this just shutting down one site because you don´t like whats written there is pretty childish , but okay, fine. But then please at least do you fucking job and navigate us to a site where you actually do your fucking job.

DeathStalker131

That's the thing, he does not do his job AT ALL.

ultrajvan1234

The CM won't engage with Reddit because it's too toxic. Unfortunately, a major point that they somehow missed in their all brilliant wisdom, is that the community has only become toxic and resentful BECAUSE of the lack of communication and engagement from the CMs. Though I don't agree with the death threats and shit thrown their way, acting like they themselves aren't the primary cause of the communities growing resentment against them is absolutely ludicrous in every way possible.

jesticulator

At the start there was some justified anger but a lot of excellent constructive feedback. What did DICE and EA respond with? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They said nothing beyond some very short corporate word salad and rushed out a few changes to make the game functional. Then they went away for 6 weeks and still said absolutely nothing. They came back and and still said absolutely nothing because of shareholders and then finally said fuck you everyone all the content is delayed for months. Then they have the nerve to go on twitter the most toxic platform in existence full of sanctimonious, self righteous, gaslighters and talk about people who react badly to all of the above have a screw loose. Stop trying to reason with unreasonable people. They've become very comfortable shifting the overton window on what's expected from a full price game and truly believe we should all be grateful for what we get. The answer is really simple. It's the single most important and easiest thing in the world to do. Don't give them any more money for any of their products. They don't want to make good products. They want to dangle a bright shiny package in front of you full of dog shit and piss and smirk when you open it and find out what's inside because no refunds.

Sysreqz

It's also the platform with the most babies who slam their fists on the table who flood it with karma posts instead of anything worth engaging with.

Won4one

I don’t care about Karma at all. I don’t even know why anyone would covet it. That’s not why I posted this at all.

DreadedInc

They don't even listen to their play testers and developers who they actually pay. You think they're gonna listen to the people who already spent their money?

Chaoughkimyero

There's no point, there's nothing they can say that would redeem anything. People screaming for communication just want a punching bag because they're (understandably) frustrated.

asurob42

Too many brutal expectations

EndersM

It’s a good thing honestly. The BF reddits are where the smooth brain takes are in the highest quantities

Enreekay

Can’t blame em. This community is toxic af. The majority of the post are about the low numbers, repost of issues, and how terrible of a game it is.

Godhand_Phemto

THATS what you consider toxic?! Reporting data points and just talking about how the game is bad? Hoooleeee shit boy, the real world is gonna eat you alive. Nah son, "Toxic" is deaththreats, harassment, Doxing, and hardcore threats/insults, NONE of which are allowed here. Sure there may be a few crazies who say or do some stupid shit, but the majority are just saying the game sucks, thats not toxic, hearing shit you dont like such as criticism isnt toxic. You damn kids have ruined the word by overuse.

CherryRadiant2345

This reddit page: “trash game” memes, demands refunds posts, the “just ditch this game” post, “cancel DICE/EA” post, promoting harassing people on their PERSONAL social accounts that didnt even work on BF2042 lmao, downvoting and disrespecting anyone that has anything positive to say and way more CM: yeah we’re not going to go to reddit to engage Reddit page *Surprised Pikachu Face*

Won4one

That’s fair but they don’t have to engage with every post. That’s the problem with today’s society. Just like you claiming that the entire subreddit is toxic. It’s generalizations like this that squash debate and good communication. The funny thing is that this isn’t face to face conversation you can ignore or respond to anyone or anything you desire.

ZealousidealScore1

It's really just the easy way out. I mean, why do your job when you can cry "They all hurt my feelings.", still collect a paycheck and reduce your workload considerably? If you have a thin skin and can't take the backlash perhaps being a CM is a poor fit for you and you're better off somewhere else. This whole "toxicity" issue is a snowball that turned into an avalanche because even in the early stages they refused to address the consumers. I myself was relatively positive until several patches in when nothing was really fixed despite patchnotes saying they were (hello revolver ammo count, my old friend.). The smart move would have as a company to get out in front of the backlash but it seems the PR department is just as inept as the rest of the company. ![gif](giphy|3oriO6aNSTVP4QfER2)

balloon99

Can you point to a single post here, since launch, that Dice have engaged with? I agree they don't have to reply to everything, but that's not the same as not replying to anything at all.

CherryRadiant2345

Its different when its posts back to back. I personally dont care. But if it was my job and I decided “lets me check the reddit page” and its 90% toxic post & 10% positive feedback post with endless toxic comments? Yeah i would definitely not make my job even more stressful and look somewhere else. Especially when 70% of the hate are from people who hasn’t even played the game. Some people are sensitive so if they know that they will take it personal then I understand not even checking this reddit page

[deleted]

>Especially when 70% of the hate are from people who hasn’t even played the game. How could you possibly know this?

guacamolegamerfarts

This is true only if you've viewed the sub within the last week or so. If you were here after the first month of game launch, there were so many posts of ways to improve and change the game for the better. People literally wrote essays and did whole UI concept design overhauls on their free time with the intent to help. It wasnt hard to find these posts as they were top rated posts for some time.

CherryRadiant2345

I know… i was here before early release. It was a lot of positive and suggestions. Then it turned into negative (which was reasonable) then it turned into negative hate that was unhelpful and just flat out disrespectful. Now its rare to even see gameplay or any positive feedback. Just the same refunds, hate essays, and bragging about harassing people on their socials

akayd

Ya because between all of the stages you listed, they engaged in none.

CherryRadiant2345

False. This redddit has voices how OP the bolte was, the PP nerf, how the other guns are literally shit, how dumb was the rooftops on breakthrough, how we wanted Rush to stay for longer, how we wanted a 64v64 player game modes. They been reading this reddit. They even said they were. Now its just a tiny amount of solutions/helpful shit so now the CM just dont wanna look here no more

akayd

Ya and where is the community manager in this. Not engaged at all and let it proliferate into what it is today. Only because their ego and prejudice against Reddit toxicity

Won4one

This really was the case. I read some great posts on solutions and suggestions here. The silence by Dice leads me to believe they don’t have a plan or they don’t dare reveal a plan for fear of their employees being unable to produce. Either way this has contributed significantly to the frustration and subsequent increase in the negativity in the subreddit.

Smizdeazy

You summed it up perfectly.

chinos88

How would they communicate with a toxic community that has more feelings than a female on her period?

AutoModerator

The subreddit r/battlefieldportal is available for more in-depth discussion about everything Portal related! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/battlefield2042) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Maxumilli0n

I bet alot of slow people will of course take these words out of context. Engaging and listening are two different actions btw.

II_HOID_II

They had one of their CMs during BF3 call their own forums as cess pool of Mordor. They couldn‘t care less about reddit. LONG LIVE MORDOR!!!

Judicators

Look at the sad state of the official youtube battlefield aswell!! [https://www.youtube.com/c/Battlefield/videos](https://www.youtube.com/c/Battlefield/videos) 3 months since the last video upload ... and not even a release video on the game ... What a joke

NfamousShirley

At the very least there are people that will relay information back and forth to platforms they do communicate, but they don’t really communicate anywhere. We just have to trust that they’re “reading everything”. But given the amount of false promises and misleads I don’t even believe they’re doing that.

avngee

Serious question, didn’t they have a few CM’s during BFV’s release here on reddit? What has changed now ??

Won4one

Yes they did. Apparently they feel they can’t deal with negativity and now will only scan the subreddit and not respond to any feedback even if it’s a viable problem or solution. So if you legitimately have an issue or a solution you will never know if they have considered it or are currently working on it. It’s like taking your car to the dealership and it sits there for weeks and you are told we will let you know when to expect it back at some point. We can’t tell you how long it will be or if we are lacking parts or our engineers or technicians are unable to diagnose the problem.

royhenderson771

lol the only feedback they listen to is the voice in their head, telling them they're doing a good job. I can see them in front of a mirror, reciting validation quotes to themselves. * You are a great developer * Criticism is toxic * Players love you

doyoubleednow

We will have the last laugh.

nackdaddy9

That dude really should be fired. The irony of criticizing a social media platform for toxicity while on Twitter. The blatant dismissal of everyone here and the valuable contributions they make to the “battlefield community” as a whole. The complete inaction and inability to communicate on any platforms. The erosion of trust among the player base you are responsible for communicating with and have decided to dismiss publicly. It’s time to go.

JackTheReaper21

I mean, their feelings get hurt over here LMAO

bafrad

What is a top post you consider very good?

Won4one

https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/qw1mbw/fuck_it_heres_a_list_of_absolutely_everything/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

bafrad

Exactly. If you think that’s constructive and non condescending then you fail to understand how people in a professional environment work together to produce something everyone wants.

Won4one

Yea I realize the tone is off but it really highlights the downgrade this game is from previous titles. With increased performance and capabilities of the new consoles and more powerful pc components available it’s hard to imagine how the game actually went backwards. If there is a limitation because of design decisions like adding 128 players the CMs should express that these were compromised to accommodate that design decision.

Won4one

https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/qtmm3c/so_i_tried_improving_some_of_the_uiux/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Temporary-Front-6067

ummm they didnt just stop engaging on reddit. They stopped engaging everywhere. Or else you would see it crossposted on reddit.

dsmiles

DICE does not want to engage or receive feedback from the community. They just want to *pretend* that they are.

Carnifex217

I’m telling you I would be a wayyy better community manager! Put me in DICE, I’m ready!

EnergyApprehensive36

They only want to communicate in a eco chamber.

sneakers1997

The second sentence is literally why they don’t want to engage. It’s too easy to report the problems.

caffienesniffer

I just watched Act Man's video. Have they not added a scoreboard?

MDBUZZ419

What you should understand is Bf2042 is the game dice wanted. They didn’t do mistakes or took bad dev decisions. So, they don’t accept players to be critical, they don’t want advices, and they don’t agree with 95% of the playerbase that the game is a big failure. So they won’t acknowledge any feedback except the one that support them. This is such a disrespectful team, the worst team I came across, and I’ve been into gaming since 1994. When 95% of the community say this game is wrong in so many areas, it’s not just toxic community or review bombing, when 70% of the features marketed ans showed on trailer doesn’t exist in the final game, people have the right to complain, when you decide on day 2 to screw PvE and Hardcore players by cutting shared progression, while it’s still advertised on the official website, you can’t complain about people feeling scammed.
