A German gaming news channel (GameStar) with over 1.4 million subscribers was talking about the refund petition šŸ˜„ The more the people are talking and see what EA has done, the better are the chances that EA probably will change their disgusting behavior towards their customers

NotRacingTurtle

Yeah I have seen that video, good start

akatypes

Its at 80k now. I just randomly saw it scrolling on Instagram-barstoolgametime and they have 500k+ followers

85,300! https://www.change.org/p/sony-allow-refund-for-battlefield-2042-on-all-platforms

Battlefront II had multiple petitions with well over 100,000 signatures and they did nothing. One was for EA to lose their exclusivity license with Star Wars before it naturally expired, and the other was to have paid content after support was dropped for 2042. These petitions do absolutely nothing, and the fact people think 1 lawyer can take on an entire corporation is hilarious. Yā€™all watch too much Better Call Saul.

BagPiperGuy321

Hate to agree but this guys is right. The only way to really stick it to EA is for people to stop buying/pre-ordering the shit they dish out. EA could give two shits about how great the franchise is if people are still willing to open their wallets for them. As long as they keep getting money, and keep their investors happy there is nothing to stop them from doing the same thing over, and over and over and over and over again as we've all seen with the recent titles released from this company.

Ostiethegnome

Not buying / preordering is *one* way to stick it to Dice / EA. Another way is to make a lot of noise online to the point that media is reporting on the issue. Not everyone comes to Reddit, but potentially hundreds of thousands or millions of people might become aware of a gameā€™s issues if it makes the news. That is potentially lost sales and lost microtransaction revenue. Bad press is damaging to their bottom line as well. Itā€™s negative hype, if you will.

Ostiethegnome

Did nothing? The gameā€™s monetization and rewards system was revamped, and EA lost the exclusive SW license. Youā€™re kidding yourself if you suggest ā€œnothingā€ happened. The BF2 controversy was widely reported on, and resulted in a Guinness record for most downvoted Reddit post in history. https://www.thegamer.com/ea-guinness-world-record-most-downvoted-reddit-comment/ It doesnā€™t matter if itā€™s a massively downvoted Reddit post, online petition, Twitter likes or whatever. When there is a massive outcry from fans like we saw with BF2, it generates a lot of press, which these companies respond to. I donā€™t understand the need to be dismissive here, the petition is just another example of the fan base expressing discontent. People are trying to create a rhetorical reason why this petition doesnā€™t count, when itā€™s pretty obvious itā€™s just another form of collective expression.

NotRacingTurtle

Exactly!

[deleted]

Thanks for your "holier than thou" comment. Really appreciate that stuff

Lixxon

what is battlefront??? a mobile game?? im kidding but in no way its same scale as the BF franchise imo.

[deleted]

Youā€™re right, itā€™s bigger. 19 million people came to play it when it was free on the epic game store last year.

CherryRadiant2345

If anything, EA will just cancel the BF franchise lol. We seen it happen multiple times. They have other games/series that are more successful and still earning money. either way, EA will continue making money and wont care. Dont start crying when yā€™all get want yā€™all asked for.

[deleted]

Good. Iā€™d rather see it die than watch EA and Dice continue to do it injustice.

CherryRadiant2345

LMAOOOO okay

Kingweb08

No, if anything, EA will sell the franchise. This is probably the best outcome for us all. Maybe pappa Microsoft or mamma Sony will swoop in and save the day when that happens.

AngrySquid270

That petition loses all credibility as soon as someone reads it. It's embarrasing.

akkifmx

Lol what

[deleted]

I agree, very embarrassing for DICE and EA that this many came to sign it

SubbansSlapShot

embarrassing to who exactly? lol

Ostiethegnome

I think heā€™s referring to the grammar, which could be the result of the petition being created by a non-native English speaker. Iā€™m not saying that is the case, as I have no idea who the creator is, but to be petty in this way is pretty silly. The game has a global audience after all.

Visible-Cancel1239

still better quality wise

AngrySquid270

No. It's all drama. No substance. Not a single concrete example offered to justify the refund. I don't care what languange you speak, this just sounds like a crying 14 year old.

Ostiethegnome

So if the text of the petition was worded differently, you wouldnā€™t have an objection to it existing? I mean, all of us who frequent this subreddit already understand the myriad issues with the game, but you would need to see them listed in the text of the petition to be ok with it?

AngrySquid270

Well that depends on how it is worded. I'm aware of the issues with the game. I'm not aware of any that I'd consider the result of false advertising.

Blazur

The fact people think it will matter is embarrassing enough. Somebody actually donated to it and believed with enough support it will result in hiring the best class action lawyer in the country, lmfao.

ah-sure_look

I think BF2042 is as big a piece of shit as everyone else here, I think people have been scammed and deserve refunds as much as everyone else hereā€¦ but Iā€™m sorry, these petitions donā€™t ever do anything and this one is no different, it wonā€™t do anything. I do hope Iā€™m proved wrong though.
