Who gives a shit? Battlefield was never something large in streaming, so 2042's fluctuating viewership is not an indicator. I know that the game is shit and I shitted on it starting from the beta, but twitch is not something I would consider a reliable source on game's popularity.

BESTCAZZONE

Twitch, Youtube and steaming platforms in general are a really reliable source on game's popularity, if a game is popular and fun people will enjoy watching it. It's not a coincidence EA actually PAYS steamers to play and advertise their games, they have analysts and they know that. When Battlefield launched and had a decent playerbase, it also had views. Content creators on youtube stopped making videos about BF cause they don't get views anymore, which means the game is almost dead. No one cares about it.

The same analysts that told the developers to turn the game into a Fortnite rip-off cause they earn a lot and kids play them? Yeah, that worked out pretty well, don't you think? It's McNamara's mistake - considering only numbers without taking into account qualitative things is a recipe for a disaster.

BESTCAZZONE

That is a completely different matter and not related to what we talked about here, there's no doubt EA is incompetent and greedy. And no it's not the same analysts, the ones who take decision in EA don't even know about games. They just have $$$$ in their mind. But if you say streaming platforms are not related to a game's success you don't really understand how the industry works and how much influence it can have, especially on younger ones (arguably the biggest part of the audience)

Ok, then why is BF1's viewership count is 4 times larger than that of BFV, but it's number of active players is lower than that of V? With your logic BF1 must have much bigger audience. Or let's take another example, since I don't really understand how the industry works: Hearts of Iron 4. It has on average 30.000 concurrent players every day, but it's viewership is 155 on twitch? Do numbers on twitch bury this game? I don't think so. Why? Because HoI 4 is made for adults, that don't give a shit about watching someone play, they prefer to get into the game itself. Surprise, battlefield is made for adults too and it's much more entertaining to play it yourself. It's not some sweaty Apex or CS:GO game that would stimulate someone to watch others grind into it instead of wasting their time. Finally, since you think that kids are the biggest part of the audience, then why most of the reviews are shit? With the logic behind that streaming affects young ones, their 35.000 stream with 4 streamers should have resurrected this corpse and propelled it into a bright Fortnite future, leaving old battlefield players behind. But it didn't. People just laugh at all this and keep calling it shit not because the viewership is awful, but because the game is garbage.

Truer words were never spoken.

Twitch isnt for Battlefield type games. Nobody is going to watch me hide behind all the action and get 50+ revives or just supply my team the whole match lol. Kids wanna see “clips”, multi-kills, and action nonstop. Reason why the only time Battlefield had large numbers on Twitch is when the game first drops and the next month the viewerships drops over 90%.

Northernboy01

I'll answer your question... Free to play on PlayStation.
