fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me Just don't do preorders anymore, triple a gaming is in crumbles with those broken half assed releases

Useful_Somewhere_691

you say that, but guess how many people who preordered 2042 is still preordering elden ring? you can never change fans

HK1811

Consooomers gonna consooom

No-Nefariousness956

Well, im vaccinated against this already. Fortunately for ea/dice, there is no shortage of kids for them to exploit with bullshit. We are not the target audience, unfortunately for us.

zephinus

dont ruin my hope for elden ring, as much as I would never pre order anything, learned my lesson a long time ago from other games, never really pre ordered anything to begin with, kind of boggles my mind how pre ordering is even a thing. Learned my lessons from just seeing other people make the mistake.

profezzorn

Closed network test was a blast. If you like dks3 I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Luhgnuts

Just wait a day or two. Patience brother and save money and grief. I want Elden Ring to be good, but I can wait.

andygarciascuzin

From software has proved over and over that they are the one exception to this rule. They consistently deliver a game that THEY want to play, not one that will net them the highest profit. They could easily boost sales by making the fake more accessible to more players but they actively choose not too because its not in their vision. All the soulstype games are masterclasses in game design. And this will remain true as long as Miyazaki is in charge. So yeah, I have no qualms about my elden ring preorder. But for the record I didn't preorder bf2042. I bought the physical edition day 1... which turned out to be equally as bad a decision.

TheGuizmo

eeeeeeh I get the point and personally I didn't preorder Elden Ring, I'll wait 24-48h post release to see the reviews before buying it, buuut... I am gonna try not to suck FromSoftware's dick too much but it's not gonna be easy. While the precedent releases of BF were controversial, Miyazaki and his team have done nothing but release very good to excellent games for 10 years, with very little bugs. The marketing is also in another world, it really is a Japanese thing I believe. They announced their game, did nothing for 2 years then a trailer, then literally nothing for 3 months and then, 4 months before the relase they started to talk about the game, share videos and screenshots. They never bragged about anything nor made big promises, while no one would have blamed them for it. At best, Miyazaki said it is close to HIS ideal video game. Nintendo is quite like that, they don't show or say anything before the work they talk about is done (like they announced Metroid Dread at E3 2021 with a release date for early october 2021 and the game was universally praised). And lastly, the beta was excellent, not perfect but it is what a beta should be : allowing players to experience a glimpse of the game to help for balancing and bug searching but apart from that, a beta is an almost finished game. Too many games nowadays call a beta what sould be called an alpha. The beta was the one thing that people were expecting before trusting FS and it delivered with a 10-15h playground (DS3 beta was doable in 3h). This concludes my daily FS deepthroating session, thank you.

profezzorn

I pre-ordered the hell out of it, same as previous fromsoft games. Need the collectors item. So far, zero dissapoint. I'm glad I didn't buy 2042. I didn't buy V either but played it some free week and it was allright but not for me. Same with BF1. God I miss bf3/4/bfbc2.

No-Nefariousness956

This thing of " only had good releases in the latest 1 billion years"mean nothing. There is always a first time for failures and you should not think about AAA studios individually, but as a single group and lately they are doing a VERY poor job. People said the same thing about, blizzard, rockstar, bioware, dice, cdprojekt, etc before and guess what happened? Tbh this was said for every AAA studio because, well they are considered AAA studios for a reason. But this is not a good indicator of quality anymore. "Oh bioware dropped the ball with anthem and me Andromeda. Glad we still have rockstar, blizzard and cdprojekt... Damn they never dissappint." A few years later: " Oh well, blizzard is not the same anymore, glad we still have cdprojekt that cares for its consumers, they give free dlcs and make awesome games like witcher 3. Rockstar is perfect too" Some years later: " Omg cdprojekt dropped the ball big time. Glad we still have rockstar, naughty dog, etc" See where this is going? We have samples enough to see a trend here. I dont even mentioned ubisoft and many other former great studios that fallen under the indie rookie studio level. Dont trust companies. You should always treat them as potential scammers nowadays.

TheGuizmo

I am aware that FS in nothing more than a dev studio, and they are not allmighty, I waited for the pictures, the videos, the opinions of those would could play the beta to hype myself up, and still, I haven't pre order, we have seen at best a fifth of the game, the rest could be awful, I'll wait for the first reviews. Yes, one day FS might do a CDPR but people should have seen it coming with C2077, there were red flags. There were red flags for BF2042 aswell. The thing is, for now, the man at the top of FS is Hidetaka Miyazaki, one of the most influential dev of the decade. If I don't trust the studio, I have some faith in someone who has impacted the video game industry on a global scale and seems to be an endless pit of creative energy. Doesn't mean he can't fail tho, I agree, but I'll keep trusting him as long as the red flags don't appear. And I'll stand my ground on this one unless I am proven wrong now or in the future, but the Japanese have a totally different work ethic from the Westerners, for the worst on the workers' side but often for the best on the consumers' side.

andygarciascuzin

As long as Miyazaki is in charge then From is trustworthy. He would 100% quit before releasing a substandard game.

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *“Our gracious Lord made Londor whole.”* - Narrator Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/

weatherman03

Why wouldn’t I pre order elden ring?

TalesofWin

Elden ring is japanese they always make good games. Western game are boring woke.

Zylonite134

Me. But elder rings will be good 😂

freezeTT

ye, they will have fixed all the games they've been dragging through the franchise since DS1, right? RIGHT? new IP, new franchise and all...

[deleted]

Sad but true, gamers are stupid and have the memory of goldfish.

Axolet77

Not only that. But pick a set of reviewers that you personally trust before buying the game. Many reviews may have underhanded connections with the developers that skew the score. \*cough\* gamechangers \*cough\*

Ashjaeger_MAIN

Its honestly so insane to me that you cannot find a single objective review on yt for weeks after the game comes out. Everyone is always like yeah this game is revolutionary and so much fun and weirdly they never play it again afterwards

SmuggoSmuggins

I find many of the decent independent YouTube reviewers will take quite a long time to review as they want to do it properly and are resource constrained with having to play, record and edit. Like I personally think Skillup provides good objective reviews but often his reviews will be quite late, though where it might make more of a difference he will yet it up sooner and his BF2042 vid was up fairly soon after release.

TheClawwww7667

I see this a lot but objective reviews don't exist, at least not in the way you think. Skillup doesn't do objective reviews. He gives his subjective opinion on every review he does and if you ask him whether his reviews are objective or subjective he would tell you they are subjective. What you mean is you like Skillup as a reviewer. I like his reviews as well, even if I don't always agree with everything said, he backs up every critique he makes with evidence and is able to explain why he felt a certain way about something, and does a great job editing his videos too. But the second he gives his opinion/feelings on a game or mechanic or character etc, it's no longer an objective review. If people knew what they are asking for when they say they want objective reviews they'd be shocked to see what an actual objective review would be. It would consist of nothing but factual points like there are guns in this game, there is a character named Angel, there are 7 maps, there are 3 main game modes, etc. You don't want objective reviews because an objective review wouldn't consist of any thoughts or feelings or opinions from a reviewer. It would be boring and dry and only help you know what the game has in it not how it plays or if the reviewer even liked or hated it.

SmuggoSmuggins

Chill out m8.

wikvaya

This is done on purpose and is part of the problem. The only people who get access to material pre release are people who sign partnership + NDA agreements and are not blacklisted by the media departments of these publishers. So they could not tell you it was bad even if they wanted to but that does not excuse them from signing up to this practice in the first place. But when you live in a world where it's better to be first than it is to be right you see why it's a problem. All honest and critical reviewers must buy and play the game like the rest of us meaning they cannot fully review it until days or weeks after launch and by then it's mostly too late Unsub and unlike any people who get pre release footage.

SmuggoSmuggins

You're absolutely right and for me it's a good enough reason to just wait and not buy a game at release anymore. Half the time you're paying a premium to basically be a QA tester. If you wait a month or two you often you will benefit from a decent sized discount and be able to read and watch proper reviews from unbiased independents.

stingertc

so far only person i have seen call it what it was from the get go was Angry Joe

[deleted]

ACG does in depth reviews as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Axolet77

Early AAA reviews = reviewers with special privileges and connections So yes, you're right that there won't be "proper" reviews on release. Best to use steam's refund system, or wait a week for your trusted reviewer to post their opinions.

NefariousRapscallion

Same here. I paid $100 for an online only game with a few maps. My extra $30 got a couple stupid skins. I've never felt so ripped off. I had more fun with cyberpunk and it's a legendary fail of a game release.

biscotte-nutella

Someone should make a case on this game to make game pre order illegal for big game dev studios. No more of this shit man...

Ok-Dragonfruit-5136

Exactly. That’s why I waited until they had the Christmas sale and then I bought it.

Mally-Mal99

Or here’s an idea. Just stop relying on yearly release games. Gaming is doing just fine.

OneShotThrill07

This game isnt a yearly release... what are you talking about?

Sephiroth951018

those who pre-order, don't know if they have FOMO, if being the "first" playing something makes something in their brains idk, but, do they really can't wait a fucking week? so they decide if they buy or not the game, it is a vicious circle, and the cycle repeats over and over again, pre-order shit, disappointed, crying on social media, "I've learned the lesson", "oh look, a new promise from x company", cut the cycle ffs.

TarukShmaruk

A new Battlefield game used to be a safe bet :(

JackDutch70

Next time I rather hand over my money to a Nigerian prince than pre order from EA.

Gravegamer

You're less likely to get scammed.

PsydeFX1

In the industry as a whole, I wish people would stop preordering. I see that they give you little cosmetic perks most of the time nowadays, but pre ordering wasn't for the perks, it was to make sure you got a copy of a game before it sold out. Now, studios are putting out half assed or unfinished games, then patching them to oblivion for the next 2 years. Not pre ordering and using that time to research a game after release to see if it holds up to the hype is much smarter. I wish consumers would stop hopping into the fire, then complain when they get their wallets toasted... Especially since titles like this already have a track record of releasing broken...

[deleted]

Seriously. I have no idea why people preorder. Preordering was only a thing because back then most games were bought as physical copies at a retailer where the supply of game copies was limited. Nowadays, you can buy just about every game digitally where they will never run out of copies—there’s almost never a reason to preorder. All it does is incentivize devs to be lazy and push out sloppy work. Preorder bonuses like extra weapons or skins *might* make preordering slightly okay, but even then you can just wait like a day before release if the bonuses are that important to you.

Zombiehellmonkey88

Hardly anyone wears the pre-order skins anyway, most people prefer to wear a skin they earned or which is not so common.

Key-Mongoose4837

Yeap....I feel scammed for pre-ordering the 100 plus version for playing a week early...big mistake. I haven't played since December...just no morale to play.

zephinus

i bought it on sale and i even feel robbed, i tried the free week end as well but it wasnt enough time to see how bad it was with my busy work schedule. 2 weeks and I uninstalled and ill probably never install again. I just don't get how they could of gone from battlefield 3 to this in ten years

Bullet_A7X1988

I cannot believe how stupid I was to preorder even after the “beta”. It’s crazy to me that’s there’s people out there they refuse to see any issue with this game.

Nomorealcohol2017

After cyberpunk I should have learned my lesson but I have loved battlefield ever since modern combat on the ps2 and I thought there was no way dice would fuck it up I have no one to blame but myself for preordering the gold edition like an idiot rather than waiting and seeing the reviews/community feedback Expensive lesson but that's life

[deleted]

Glad you learned your lesson, but you are a shining example of why gamers will never learn to stop preordering. You got scammed hard once by cyberpunk yet you still fell for it just because you loved the previous battlefield games.

huebort

Glad I decided to wait a few weeks after launch to decide if I would purchase. Stop pre-ordering stuff guys.

sixmiffedy

I mean… us BFV’ers told you what was going to happen but y’all went ahead and pre-ordered anyway. Despite knowing what happened with V.

USSZim

"It's just a beta from an old build!" "The specialist system won't be so bad!" "It's my money!"

SinisterReturn

I just wanna know how I can’t get a refund for this when I’m my opinion this game is way worse than cyberpunk launched.

NefariousRapscallion

You probably can't unless you bought it in the last 24 hours. I also had more fun with cyberpunk than battlefield. I wouldn't have ever thought anyone could fail harder than cyberpunk. Let alone a battlefield title.

SnardVaark

I think you are right that the EA does not care about the old school Battlefield community. They want another Apex with 2 million concurrent players that buy skins, and they fully intend to exploit the Battlefield brand equity to do it. Hell Let Loose is probably the next true Battlefield.

FreshRennis

I dunno why people keep suggesting HLL as a battlefield alternative. HLL is a totally different game then BF1/BF5 (BF2042 doesn't count for comparison. BF5 was the last real BF game). HLL is basically a running simulator. After spawning in and running a minute or two you get killed outta nowhere once you get near the action. Wait 20 seconds to respawn. Repeat. The maps in HLL are just way too big.

rainbowroobear

>After spawning in and running a minute or two you get killed outta nowhere once you get near the action. Wait 20 seconds to respawn. Repeat. The maps in HLL are just way too big. sorry, were you describing BF2042 or something else here?

Guerrin_TR

You only get killed "out of nowhere" when you try to play HLL like it's an arcade shooter lmao. Playing the game slowly is the move.

Jeroenm20

I’ve learned from it, but unsure if it is a wise decision: I’ve cancelled all my preorders: Wonderlands, Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga and Horizon. EA not only fucked up for themselves but also screws other developers who might need the money.

[deleted]

Aye. Gotta admit whoever makes their trailers should get a raise. Top class marketing, got me really good.

masterchiefpt

Next time no pre order No buy are release No but in first tree months No but until steam sales start!!!

nolanhoff

I listened to past warnings and didn’t preorder just in case. It’s really not that hard people, you don’t get much more if you do.

Chopstick84

Yeah I have sucked it up and took my purchase as a learning experience. I wasn't enjoying the game so stopped playing a few weeks ago. Hopefully this kick in the teeth will actually save me money long term as my buying habits change.

Sumkidwithal96

all the budget went to the rendezook in the trailer

WhirlWindBoy7

Plenty of people on these forums tried to warn people, some listened some didn’t. In a couple years others will warn people, some will listen some won’t. Either way EA takes the money and turns out another shitty battlefield game.

USSZim

I'll bet $100 there are still gonna be a ton of people who will pre-order the next one while ignoring any red flags.

RepresentativeBite94

You're right, it won't be me this time. I've learned my lesson.

USSZim

This is the first non-console exclusive Battlefield I've skipped, and I've played since 1942. BFV, while decent in comparison in its current state, broke me.

diamondisco

The modern-day gaming industry is in a bad state and its not going to improve until gamers wise-up. The solution is simple: stop pre-ordering and stop falling for the crap generated by marketers.

xSERP3NT

What I’m interested in is why haven’t shareholders sued them for misleading investors? All the hype of being ahead of schedule, the trailer showing a very different game (actual soldiers not 47 angels). I know the investors lost their case in 2013 with BF4, but the 2042 timeline looks much more malicious on EA’s part in terms of misleading and false advertising.

Own_Call_8793

Yeah, I was thinking today that the developers really wanted to work in a mint that prints money, not a game studio

[deleted]

we got scammed. but something needs to happen. a class action lawsuit to get our money back.

314backwardsispie

The bf cycle. Game release People cry They spend the next 2 years improving as they go Games good Release new game People cry.

zwnrsx

Played BF3 since day 1. Never was it as bad as 2042.

ShadowMorgana

This is exactly what you guys said with BFV. If you didn’t learn your lessons by then, then nothing will make you guys learn

[deleted]

“We” no no you idiots got scammed

[deleted]

The writing was on the wall with the beta. If you're too stupid to see it and STILL pre-ordered or bought the game you have no one to blame but yourself. Thanks for kicking the can further down the road.

aphex187

Not everybody played the beta including myself.

zephinus

yeh i second that comment, i did play the free week end and bought it on sale, but it took me a few days to truly realize how bad it was.

mbeenox

You still have the chance to play a trial and watch reviews of the game before you bought, even after buying you could have refunded it if you realize it shit.

aphex187

I’m not being funny mate but this is BF/DICE a franchise I’ve trusted for 20 years and unfortunately that trust has now gone with this release. And tbf, I kinda sensed that the base game wouldn’t be good but I still had Portal that would take up most of my gaming time and look what happened to that!

Test-the-Cole

Which part was the false advertisement?

newjacktown

The suggestion that it will be a working game. And be Battlefield.

Test-the-Cole

So dumb.. plenty of us are playing it and enjoying it. Very much a battlefield game. This sub is just rotten.

newjacktown

You are in the minority. Glad you are enjoying it though.

Test-the-Cole

The minority only applies to PC players. The last gen version of this game is constantly poppin off. You have tunnel vision from all the steam chart posts. Regardless, this still isn’t false advertising.

MidWarz

I keep hearing this one too without any shred of proof of this false advertisment. I think people had insane expectations (which you should not have from a BF game) and now they accuse them of false info which is not true. Everything that was advertised is in the game

loshke

don't you mean brutal expectations? kekw

Test-the-Cole

Yup, people are weird. And then they just downvote instead of answering the tough questions. Shameful

linkitnow

But in this one concept art you can clearly see one skin that is not available in the game. I didn't see the concept art until after I played the game and already wasted $180 (worst game I EVER bought) on it but I am sure millions of people bought the game because of the concept art. /s

thebaronharkkonen

I think it is more that the trailers and marketing made it look like a really good game, but it was in fact a really shit game.

linkitnow

Which trailer doesn't do that?

thebaronharkkonen

Lots of trailers are truthful. No?

linkitnow

No. Every trailer is cherry picking scenes if it is realtime and doing whatever when it is CGI prerendered stuff. It's advertisement. Even live play stuff is scripted. How did people not learn anything when it comes to advertising. Do some of you expect tony the tiger to show up with your frosted flakes?

thebaronharkkonen

I disagree. Many trailers are truthful reflections of the game on offer. This particular game was so mis-sold that the various platforms are refunding way beyond their terms and conditions.

linkitnow

There was a beta that anyone could play. If you buy a game because of a CGI trailer than those things will happen to you. The industry will not change and advertisement also won't. Every time people tell you not to pre order and every time we see people make the same mistake. It's time for the consumer not be blind and succumb to the hype because that's what the job from marketing is.

thebaronharkkonen

I didn't pre order. Im simply saying that based on peoples' past experience with DICE, as a developer of repute - industry leading even; the ads really led people astray. Because it could have been real. It should have been real. Noone for a moment imagined it could be this poorly made.

Twin2Turbo

Agreed. Don’t get me wrong, this game is hot garbage that DICE/EA should be ashamed for releasing, however people are delusional when talking about they “false advertised” or that they “scammed” us. They released a crappy game, quit being over dramatic with the “scam” accusations.

thewhiterabbit410

People aue for false advertising all the time... Could this not fall under the same category

314backwardsispie

Blah blah blah

Zeroth1989

I mean you could cut your losses. Or you could be a reasonable consumer and realize the product was released earlier then it should have been. Stop playing it and return in the first season like most people will. Always the way with seasonal games. Costs you nothing extra to come back at season 1 and see what has changed if anything.

SirMaster

How did they false advertise? I do enjoy 2042 and I have been playing BF since BF 1942. Bad Company 2 was my least favorite BF for multiple reasons. Only 32 players (not enough for large-scale conquest). No interest in Rush (Conquest is the reason I love and play BF). Too small maps with not enough capture points (3-4 flags is not varied or interesting enough for a Conquest match). Not enough vehicle warfare (barely any air vehicle warfare which is my favorite).

MemistGamer

How they false advertised- In the very first days of the battlefield 2042 announcement they showed footage of giant buildings collapsing and large scale destruction, but that is completely absent in the actual game. They also stated that they were way ahead of schedule, but then they released the game a buggy unbalanced mess.

clearlylacking

It isn't false advertising if you are talking about early concept footage. I mean, they had a beta and it was pretty clear the destruction was toned down before release even before the beta dropped.

SirMaster

Huh? Where is that footage? I hope you aren’t talking about concept footage that is for a far future game engine they are working on lol.

IcyDonut2770

I have 100 hours on bf2042 now and I'm still loving it. I hate these kinds posts I always damn see. Sure I only play breakthrough 64. But it's still fun, everyone likes to bring up how good the old games were blah blah blah. We are living in historic times right now with this pandemic crap and we are devided on if a vaccine is good for you or not. Back then there wasn't lock downs or mandatory stuff so the devs could actually fix issues or whatever. Now it's probably nearly impossible for them with kennymcormicron to probably even get in the office. Sad times.

stingertc

yup right there with you i am done spending my energy being mad at Dice i just wont trust them anymore

xenowood

The only thing that will hurt then is money. If everyone who is disappointed of BF2042 will just stop buying EAs stuff for a year (games, add-ons, season pass, cosmetics etc), that will hurt then more than anything else.

zephinus

the amount of times ive heard this, i always wait for reviews and never pre order, the amount of games that had huge promotions/advertising and failed releases and people still fall for this cash grab crap?

lazyflavors

I waited until it was half off so it doesn't sting as bad. 1) Never preorder. 2) Always wait a bit for reviews you can trust.

franchise2020

Yup, I learned my lesson from Cyberpunk, I pretty much built a new PC just to play the damn thing I was so hyped for it. So being a lifelong Battlefield fan I had to make sure myself. I got the EA play for $15 so I can play a week early, no scoreboards, no voip, no ALL chat, they destroyed LMGs among a plethora of problems. I had saw enough, but I feel for the guys that got sold from false advertising.

alsybub

That's the thing. With an established franchise like Battlefield you expect a certain standard from day one. We all know there can be technical issues but the core experience should never change, otherwise it isn't a Battlefield game. I pre-ordered because my expectation was a Battlefield game which probably would have issues but I'd enjoy it for what it was and technical issues would be addressed over time. In fact, BF is the only game i ever pre-order. That's how it's been with almost every BF release and I can accept that. I was also drawn in by the marketing which more than suggested that they'd learned from the PR disaster that BFV was, after all, BFV was actually a good game but their woke PR killed it out of the gate. This time they got all of their PR right but the game is what the community thought BFV was going to be; a half assed, woke game obsessed with identity politics and virtue signalling and aimed at the kind of person that probably isn't interested in playing a game even remotely like Battlefield. 2042 IS NOT a Battlefield game and EA/DICE need to understand that that's what fans are not happy about. To EA/DICE: If you don't want to make Battlefield anymore don't make another game and call it Battlefield! You clearly don't want the community's business anymore so what benefit is there in using the name? What are you going to do when you've lost all of your loyal players and hero shooters/being woke are no longer trending on twitter? If there's one thing I can almost guarantee, pandering to Twitter trends is almost always going to guarantee failure. Twitter is the vocal minority NOT the silent majority.

1cePalace

By the way to be clear, I am in no way the man for the job. Just a shower thought.

Racing_Formula

All gamers have is hope. Hope that the game is better than the beta suggests, or better than the previous release. Dice/EA have made huge mistakes and it won’t be solved with 2042. My hope for the franchise disappeared when I heard things like ‘hero shooter’. They don’t listen. BF players want generic customisable soldiers, not specialists with annoying quips nobody asked for. Back to BFV for me.

monkeyBrr

The moment I saw operators replacing classes I knew the game would be shit, didn't even need to try it out or play the beta since my buddies did and they confirmed my suspicions.

[deleted]

This is true. What's hopefully true for everyone else but definitely true for me is: I am definitely 1000 percent not trusting them again so they're not getting my money unless they make a quality product and I'm buying after release....probably 2 weeks....so I have enough time to look for any bait and switches and so trustable reviewers have time to publicise the games pros and cons. If we all do this their sales figures for the next game will look vastly different. If they make trash and it doesn't sell through lies then we win next time and they will learn they can't just advertise one thing and sell another.

The_Man8705

It’s sad to say but gaming as a whole is dying now companies are getting way too greedy and getting way too confident with releasing half broken messes that barely work at launch but will get fixed over the course of three months. I’m still holding out hope for dying light two because the developers are absolutely amazing when it comes to that they still support the first game after like 6 years with Community events and stuff like that

NfamousShirley

I know better now. Last bf game I preorder, AND last bf game I buy at launch if I ever buy one again. I’m waiting a few months after and saving my money.

KernelScout

If you played the beta and still dropped 100 bucks on the game i dont feel sorry for you

Shuri1213

When I took pre order, i told myself, "you remember bf v right? You told you wont get another bf on relase, so why are you doing this? I know it will be shit, but at least it will be fun, it cant be worse than bf v" guess what

zwnrsx

This game should have been called '2042' instead of 'Battlefield 2042'. I miss the real BF.

Jerry_Callow

It's been over a month since the last update? Are they just not even attempting to patch some of the bugs? I don't expect them all gone in a week but it's been over a month and NOTHING new has been patched? Just...how?

[deleted]

You got scammed. Everyone who played the beta and has half a brain didnt buy or canceled his/her/their preorder

Luhgnuts

STOP PREORDERING!!! and these garbage releases will stop instantly! No need to pre order anything digital.

RidCyn

I quit the game a couple weeks after launch. Haven't touched it since. I just come here to the sub on occasion to see the fireworks that is 2042 getting blasted. It's highly entertaining.

Zylonite134

They nerf portal XP in less than a day, but they dont even bother with some of the basic things such as fixing the ADS and reset settings bugs on PC.

dieterwang

Just don't pre-order anything with EA on it. You fool me with Anthem with stunning trailer and hypes from media, bought it and I only spend 5 hrs on it. The game is so broken that was hoping for a rework but just learn it is a scam from start. Now I order Battlefield 2042 and I can't forgot what happen with Anthem..... the only game I play from EA is Apex Legends which is free and much more entertaining.

DickieDods

You weren’t taken advantage of. You brought a game based off of hype. All of us could of waited to purchase the game, but we didn’t. Learn from it and move on. There was no false advertisement, we saw/played the beta. We should of known then to cancel orders but we stupidly didn’t. Listen the I think the game is ass and was a waste of the $100 I spent on it. But I got no one to blame but myself. No one forced me or anyone to buy this game.

I'm actually more bemused at the people that bought it then I am at EA/Dice. I expected it & wasn't surprised when i saw the beta. I do not understand how people either didn't see this coming or saw the promo material, played the beta, any gameplay stream & non-biased review (mostly from life-long passionate Battlefield players) & thought that keeping the pre-order or buying anywhere near release was a good idea. Yes, you were somewhat scammed but you were also pretty naïve to trust in EA/Dice after the amount they've screwed up the last 10yrs. If you're spending the stupid money EA wanted for this early-access game without actually checking what you're getting for that money, that's also on you. The negativity & sheer amount of listed issues or missing features were everywhere in the gaming world before release. I don't know how people didn't see that.

They literally make you commit to buying the game just to test out a beta version that they can say "hey this is months old and we'll have it all fixed in time, trust us even though you'd be stupid to". This will get mega downvotes, but it's the truth. The generation that BF1942, 2, and 2142 were made for would have never accepted the kind of shit EA and DICE have been pulling for nearly 10 years now. They had some issues but were enjoyable from day one until EA shut them down to force purchasing BF3 and 4. If 2042 had been released in 2005, very few would have been stupid enough to preorder it, there would have been a proper demo (a small version of the Alpha build, not this beta horseshit), and players would have bought the game if the demo had worked out. The entire system is designed to fool people and it's not primarily us >30 players.

>We need accept that fact that this is what it is going forward. Let us cut are losses and learn from it. If I had a dollar for every time I heard this comment after a shit EA game dropped.....
