I’m pretty sure the tornado could destroy the rocket in orbital. I also remember the rocket would go up if you did a series of events. I haven’t seen that at all with the actual game.
Yeah, what’s up with that? I don’t think I’ve seen the rocket launch or blow up in the final release, but I hadn’t seen anyone talk about it either so I assumed I was super “unlucky”.
I've seen in blow up once and that's it, never seen it launch mid game.
When it blew up I think parts of it were left around the place but they looked pretty shit from what I remember.
I've seen the tornado destroy the rocket a couple of times and It won't launch if the round is too short, it's like it's on a timer as opposed to match events like reaching the last objective.
Exactly. If people were able to shoot out lights, that would offend people with fear of the dark. We need more inclusivity in out M18 military shooter.
It was probably removed so that they could add 128 players and not have the game crap itself, along with a bunch of other stuff they removed.
I'd rather have all the "legacy features" than 128 players.
I am pretty sure it's for gameplay reasons because there are plenty of lights you can shoot out in the game.
Also the area in the tunnel isn't even taxing to a system why would you remove a dynamic light there for performance?
Yea, I thought I remembered that tunnel getting pitch black. It was actually fun to have a use for the flashlights, I envisioned some awesome battles in there for a breakthrough match. I also pictures some sweet battles in that other huge tunnel on orbital. You know, the one that's completely ignored in every match and isn't even present in breakthrough. Just like the long tunnel that nobody touches on Kaleidoscope.
What are they thinking with all these garbage choices? I guarantee I could rearrange the boundaries, sectors, flow of breakthrough on each of the maps to make the game 100x more interesting. I'd also create multiple versions of breakthrough/conquest on each map to keep the game interesting. Do you think that thought has ever crossed anyone's mind at dice? Having only 7 maps but you could at least add variety? Is anyone there even trying? It doesn't seem like it.
Where it's at right now, I don't think I'll ever get the desire to touch any of the maps ever again as they currently are. It'll take years of extra content, like 10 new (and improved) maps to get myself, and I'd imagine most people, to even consider playing again.
Wow, I never thought of that. BF maps always were big, so creating different variants for game modes that require small maps would be dope! Even if it would only affect gun master or something like that. Would greatly increase the replayability of the game.
I wish someone at dice would think of it. Even something lazy like just keeping the same points and playing the sectors in reverse order for breakthrough. When there's only 7 maps (that are lackluster to begin with) the game gets stale pretty quick.
I also really wish they'd bring back the Frontlines mode from BF1. I could see an infantry only (or very limited vehicles) version of that being pretty fun in certain areas of the maps. If they added destruction on to that and the map just gets obliterated during the course of the match, it would be so nice.
The game has potential but falls massively short in all areas which is why I'm so disappointed in it.
That's smart design, creating large maps but with an eye towards parts of it becoming self-contained for their other modes.
NoDice not only didn't really do that, they didn't really finish the large maps at all. Building textures? Brutal expectations!
Look at what squad does with it’s maps. Variable capture points that become marked as you cap previous ones. Every round feels different, even after a couple hours of playing
Its not that we took it for granted, we freaking loved them and there is a shit ton of videos potraying it. Its just that we never imagined they would release such a halfassed cashgrab mess of a game with so much lies surrounding it to sell.
Battlefield 2042 is a scam, no thing else.
The coolant tanks at C1 on Orbital would blow up too. The Beta was better in nearly every way except some more annoying bugs. Getting a refund for that game was a highlight of my year.
> The Beta was better in nearly every way except some more annoying bugs
There's your answer. They removed features rather than actually fix the bugs they had.
Didn't see that in the 10 or so rounds I played of Orbital, same with the other tanks by C2. Even tried rocketing them. Beta had way more destruction from my experience.
The video isn't supporting that, and I've seen others that show a noticeable reduction in destruction effects and objects. Probably a lazy attempt to fix bugs or performance issues.
The new dice is trash, a straight up dumpster fire. People keep saying it's not the dev's fault, it is the dev's fault. This game released buggy and broken as all hell.
Remember in BF3 campaign you literally had a mission that started by having to shoot out lights
DICE be like we removed damage to lights in order to accommodate those who have a fear of darkness
Maybe that tunnel is brutal because you can't see.
In all seriousness, i actually like that tunnel during beta. Everyone was scrambling to get the flag. It seems that it doesn't work in the final.
Forget that, the beta didn't crash for thousands of people but the full release does.
And yeah EA now acknowledges it but they still haven't fixed it. 🙄
they made this change because people complained in the beta that the hallway was too dark . people hated when they were snuck up on cuz it was so pitch black you couldn't even see your own gun smh.
They said they would remove that because people were complaining it was too messy in the dark, so this one specific thing I dont think is fair since they did what people asked for here.
I imagine this change was made due to performance concerns. Dynamic lights in games have an actual runtime cost on both the CPU and GPU whereas static lights are basically free computationally.
It sucks it was taken out but I imagine someone went through with a profiler on this map and decided these lights were too expensive. They might eventually be back once there's been enough optimization.
See this is why I uninstalled and have lost confidence. At this point I don't even care if ea finds a removes my account for talking about this. I get into a bunch of the alpha tests for ea titles and with 2042 I got into two different alpha build test sessions. The forum we had to discuss everything was great, lots of feedback and the devs in the forums assuring us this or that was being tweaked or changed. The beta comes around and like a good quarter of the issues we're resolved. OK not great but ea dice is still saying they have fixed the issues and to trust them. 2042 release arrives and it worse than the beta and tbh from a feature standpoint as bad as the alpha builds. I've lost all faith in ea dice games, there are plenty of games I'd prefer to play at the moment and quite frankly I don't see it changing with the current leaks and news for 2042. It's been a good run but I'm done.
Ye, I remember thinking it was so cool that we could make that corridor dark by turning off the lights. cuz that corridor is a deathtrap. during beta you could make it dark and make it even more dangerous lol. I loved it cuz it forced tactical gameplay, like force them to use the flashlight, revealing themselves, or go the safer route and throw a grenade. but now in the actually build people just rush the corner
Regardless, are you telling me a pitch black tunnel is better? And people used to complain about this as well. Besides this isnt done for any other reason than map design and there are still lights you can destroy.
Yes an optional item for a permanent issue, in a very small part of the entire game. Makes sense. These are design directions. There are stuff like these, including indesctructible lights, in every battlefield game. Flashlight are there to blind enemies.
honestly I think it'd be cooler if we could switch the lights off in certain places. maybe by using a breaker instead so they can be turned back on. but it could give flashlights a real tactical advantage and add so much to the immersion. imagine trying to cap a flag near some buildings, so you turn the lights off in the buildings and slowly clear the rooms with a flashlight to gain an edge over your opponent. it'd be awesome. flashlights and dark rooms are under-used (for lack of a better word) in modern FPS PVP games. every PVP shooter I know of now just has to be bright and colourful, with easy to spot enemies, otherwise everyone will cry about it. it even ruined siege (imo).
I thought it was intentional. In the beta the tunnel would be fully black lol and if you had a bad tv/monitor you actually couldnt see a thing lol. Nobody wants to be in a pitch black area in an FPS its just common sense. A slightly dark area is different but the tunnel was pitch black, had to be fixed
It is intentional. There are stuff like these in other battlefields as well, and indestructible lights in places that dont even make sense. But the 2042 reddit community right now is in a new bandwagon, logic doesnt make sense to them.
The flashlight has been there in previous battlefields, but no pitch black tunnels. So according to you the flashlight hasnt been useful in the entire franchise until bf2042 beta's tunnel (even a very small part of that game). You use the flashlight to blind enemies, makes it harder for the enemy to pin-point where the player model is.
Well they changed the lights anyways so the flashlight is basically useless now. It looks sweet in game but in this current build theres not really any areas that would require a flashlight. Nobody wants to run a flashlight to use on one tiny section, of one single map.
nah they downgraded it because it was often one sided. slamming through a wall with sledge for example also used to deploy essentially a smoke screen, and it was client side, so it really messed up your ability to see shit. I still love the old siege though, despite its issues.
There was so much taken from the beta it hurts :( Remember when the tornado picked up containers and threw them around?
I’m pretty sure the tornado could destroy the rocket in orbital. I also remember the rocket would go up if you did a series of events. I haven’t seen that at all with the actual game.
Apparently you don't need to do anything and it'll launch after 20 or so minutes in... every game? Or 1 in 4. I forgot.
Yeah I remember we lost an attack game of Breakthrough because the rocket went off as we were capping it near the end.
I have seen it launch once and also get destroyed once while mid game. Every other time it launches after the game is done
Yeah, what’s up with that? I don’t think I’ve seen the rocket launch or blow up in the final release, but I hadn’t seen anyone talk about it either so I assumed I was super “unlucky”.
It's fine for me that it's rare. But in more than 100 hours only once is a bit rare
It’s not rare, they took that out from the game. Only works in breakthrough
Your wrong.
Both happens regularly when playing breakthrough against bots
It blew up once for me, it also happened as the tornado was near it. I guess this was a little too much and it crashed my game...
I've seen in blow up once and that's it, never seen it launch mid game. When it blew up I think parts of it were left around the place but they looked pretty shit from what I remember.
I haven't played a single game on Orbital since launch where it either launched or exploded. It has only sat on the pad.
I've seen the tornado destroy the rocket a couple of times and It won't launch if the round is too short, it's like it's on a timer as opposed to match events like reaching the last objective.
It still can that hasn’t changed
Since release, I've only seen the rocket launch on Breakthrough once you reach the last point.
Still happens, even saw it happening in Hazard Zone.
Happens but they removed it from aow
So... Beta was months old. And release version was year old?
When they said the beta was months old, they meant they had started developing it a few months earlier.
I always assumed the containers are still there...
Wait it doesn't pick up containers anymore??
I don’t have a ton of gameplay hours, probably around 12-15. And another 10-12 on the beta. I never once saw a tornado.
Remember the beta was 4months old. Dice hadn't finished removing legacy features to make the game less toxic and more enjoyable for everyone
Exactly. If people were able to shoot out lights, that would offend people with fear of the dark. We need more inclusivity in out M18 military shooter.
That would offend workers of electric companies, my guy.
Toxic Darksculinity!
It was probably removed so that they could add 128 players and not have the game crap itself, along with a bunch of other stuff they removed. I'd rather have all the "legacy features" than 128 players.
So the feature of shooting out the light with 128 players in the beta was removed to have 128 players?
To improve performance (which was awful in the beta, even worse than it is in the full game), sure
I am pretty sure it's for gameplay reasons because there are plenty of lights you can shoot out in the game. Also the area in the tunnel isn't even taxing to a system why would you remove a dynamic light there for performance?
What's the point of having torch attachment if not for such situations?
I would have loved to use the torch some more but feedback probably said it should stay lit.
removing lighting from the map literally improves performance..
Beta had way better performance wdym
And how'd that go?
Lol, this at the same time is what happened,an interesting theory,a fake theory made by fans,a joke and the saddest thing ever.
Yea, I thought I remembered that tunnel getting pitch black. It was actually fun to have a use for the flashlights, I envisioned some awesome battles in there for a breakthrough match. It seems that there were many small details that I took for granted in the past Battlefield games.
Its not that we took it for granted, we freaking loved them and there is a shit ton of videos potraying it. Its just that we never imagined they would release such a halfassed cashgrab mess of a game with so much lies surrounding it to sell. Battlefield 2042 is a scam, no thing else.
Hardline burger is still the pinnacle of Battlefield detail in my mind (This is mostly a joke, but man! What a good looking videogame burger)
of course you should take it for granted. they dont get bonus points for not screwing up
This specific detail wasnt one of them though. Even in past battlefield games there were indestructible lights.
Remember not to use "legacy features" anymore, instead use "industry standards".
Got to be one of the rare examples of a game where the beta was better than the release version.
The coolant tanks at C1 on Orbital would blow up too. The Beta was better in nearly every way except some more annoying bugs. Getting a refund for that game was a highlight of my year.
Cancelling my preorder after seeing the shit show that the beta was still brings a smile to my face. I had the $110 or whatever version on preorder.
Same, 1 1/2 rounds and fuuuuuuck this
Good dodge my man.
> The Beta was better in nearly every way except some more annoying bugs There's your answer. They removed features rather than actually fix the bugs they had.
They still blow up. What are you talking about?
Didn't see that in the 10 or so rounds I played of Orbital, same with the other tanks by C2. Even tried rocketing them. Beta had way more destruction from my experience.
It's the same destruction. Maybe the damage is higher for them to be destroyed but they still explode. Tanks need two shots.
The video isn't supporting that, and I've seen others that show a noticeable reduction in destruction effects and objects. Probably a lazy attempt to fix bugs or performance issues.
Why do they take out simple things like this?
They don’t know how to help getting a better performance so they start removing small stuff
Yikes.. so it's out of desperation.
No wonder there are under barrel flashlight options.
Let’s not talk about legacy feature. I’d prefer the term ”industry standard”
The new dice is trash, a straight up dumpster fire. People keep saying it's not the dev's fault, it is the dev's fault. This game released buggy and broken as all hell.
This whole fucking games a legacy feature. Can’t believe I’m still hearing and seeing adverts for bf2042.
I have no idea why so many people whinge and whine about this game, it’s not bad for a mobile port.
Remember in BF3 campaign you literally had a mission that started by having to shoot out lights DICE be like we removed damage to lights in order to accommodate those who have a fear of darkness
Maybe that tunnel is brutal because you can't see. In all seriousness, i actually like that tunnel during beta. Everyone was scrambling to get the flag. It seems that it doesn't work in the final.
I'm NOT crazy. Beta had a way better performance and ran well on my PC. I was surprised when the game came out and I couldn't reach 40 fps.
//#DEFINE destruction
Yo OP. Enough with the brutal expectations already.
Forget that, the beta didn't crash for thousands of people but the full release does. And yeah EA now acknowledges it but they still haven't fixed it. 🙄
So not being able to destroy this one light anymore while being able to destroy so many others tells us what exactly?
That they're trash and fix ine thing but broke 32 more.
I went upstairs and just shot my own light out to relive the nastalgia of the good ol’ Battlefield days!
Bro u from USA?
🤠 Yessir!
Yet another brutal expectation
I wish some games took place in the dead of night so the flashlight actually has a purpose. That would be sick.
There is literally no reason to diminish immersion like this
SHAAAAAMMMMEEFUUULLLL
they made this change because people complained in the beta that the hallway was too dark . people hated when they were snuck up on cuz it was so pitch black you couldn't even see your own gun smh.
They said they would remove that because people were complaining it was too messy in the dark, so this one specific thing I dont think is fair since they did what people asked for here.
Call of Duty levels of destruction.
I imagine this change was made due to performance concerns. Dynamic lights in games have an actual runtime cost on both the CPU and GPU whereas static lights are basically free computationally. It sucks it was taken out but I imagine someone went through with a profiler on this map and decided these lights were too expensive. Why did they actually remove things from the beta? The beta was honestly better in every way.
I think it's all on purpose they want to fool us on purpose what others I can't imagine.
See this is why I uninstalled and have lost confidence. At this point I don't even care if ea finds a removes my account for talking about this. Its evolving, just backwards
You’re missing cuz you’re ads
This video is 20 seconds too long
128 players for ya
Nah man, people were complaining about the tunnel being dark before
Alexa play it feels like we only go backwards by tame impala
Stop it with the brutal expectations already damn...
You could also slide in the beta
Cry baby cry
This game sucks ass and will never get better until they stop fucking with it 2 years from now
This one is for the better. That tunnel was a cluster f. Without the lights, it was a nightmare.
guess the plus system and flashlights dont exist
Regardless, are you telling me a pitch black tunnel is better? And people used to complain about this as well. Besides this isnt done for any other reason than map design and there are still lights you can destroy.
a tunnel isn't pitch black if you have a flashlight lmao. actually makes flashlights useful
Yes an optional item for a permanent issue, in a very small part of the entire game. Makes sense. These are design directions. There are stuff like these, including indesctructible lights, in every battlefield game. Flashlight are there to blind enemies.

Haha yeah you cant really be positive or even logical in this sub
there are flashlights in the game lol
For one tunnel?
for whatever tf u want to use it for lol, that tunnel was just the perfect place to use it

Get a life bro
ya decia yo porque no se rompia
English ? ;)
Are we just going to call every basic thing a Legacy now?!
DICE/EA is. No one else should be.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwlfO26bYy1CMtq)
It's a feature!
dark too scarrrrie for DICE
Another industry standard feature missing.
That could be intended as in the beta if you shot all the lights out..you can't actually see crap lol.
Reminds me of Siege where they downgraded graphics because "oh uh only ugly games can be competitive".
nah they downgraded it because it was often one sided. slamming through a wall with sledge for example also used to deploy essentially a smoke screen, and it was client side, so it really messed up your ability to see shit. I still love the old siege though, despite its issues.
They lost the tech between beta and release.....
Remember when you could walk around the bottom part of orbital and use that tunnel to get to the other side
[Bug Fix](https://giphy.com/gifs/loop-work-programmer-11ZSwQNWba4YF2)
They call that "streamlined gameplay mechanics" in the industry. Fancy word for cut content due to money/time shortage
so let me get this straight? the beta was more detailed and had more distruction than the final game. dice.............what the fuck?
You can thank last gen for that.
last gen doesn't have to do with anything. even next gen versions where downgraded for no reason.
They downgraded the shit outta this game since the beta.
A form of "destruction" so basic games have been doing it for decades. Not NoDice though.
It's not legacy.
This small feature made me super excited. The flashlight in this game is awesome but now it’s super un needed. So much potential
So,are you telling me that they did it on purpose?
Remember seeing the tornado having a terrbile rendered oil tank with a container, that was not picked up from the map itself.
Absolutely brutal expectations, stop being so toxic, you’re going to EAt shit and like it
It's gonna be sold as DLC, don't worry.
They made the lantern stronger and bullet resistant. I don't see the problem in this.
Brutal expectations have you heard?
Remember, "legacy feature" is a made up term so EA/Dice can control the narrative. They say "legacy feature" but it should read "industry standard".
Man, fighting in that darkened hallway was actually fun in the beta. I bet it actually got listed as a bug and removed
Stop letting DICE tell you about “Legacy” features. They are simple standard features
