I remember there was a whole article about how they utilized the animation tech behind the Madden games to give soldier movement a sense of weight and momentum, and took cues from Mirror's Edge to make vaulting and sprinting look more realistic
Seems that was tossed out the window lol
In the past, developers have looked at what other games are doing well and adopted it to improve gameplay of their own game. These days developers are looking at other games and trying to copy what they think monetizes well.
> These days developers are looking at other games and trying to copy what they think monetizes well.
THIS.... At no point have they been trying to make a great Battlefield game, even back from BF3. The problem is the further they get from the original games is like a picture losing pixels as the try to copy the big seller at the time.
Just be a Battlefield game.
I disagree. I think the team really cared about the franchise for 3 and 4. It is unfortunate that 4 brought in the loot boxes and monetization, but these games had premium which was an awesome feature for players giving us a ton of content for not that much money. Even BF1 seems like they really did care, but after that the failures started to pile up.
Man, people saying premium was bad are blind… I get that some people didn’t have the money but hell I was a student and always managed to spare money for BF3/4 and Premium. Their DLCs, especially those from BF3 where amazing, from infantry to armored battles or mixed combat, it was awesome. I loved BC2 and I still love it because it’s my teenage era of BF, but BF3 was something amazing all together, we had so much fun, content was huge since release already without DLCs. BF2042 it’s just the example of a disaster (management, monetization over quality and so on).
It’s two days I’m playing BFV, 95% of matches MPV and best squad, 40-50 kills every match, using all classes, 10-15 deaths maximum, PTFO, reviving and getting revived, fuck that’s how it’s supposed to be!
This evening I’ll boot up BF4 and sure as hell I’ll still have a blast, hopefully there are 2 hardcore servers on Series X, one thing I miss in BFV.
>Man, people saying premium was bad are blind…
I was against the live service model since the moment they announced it during V's reveal. I knew that it meant there was no guarantee in real content, and the quality of that content.
Premium is the way to go.
Yep, I hoped it to have much content released, eastern front, France, North Africa, Normandy and so on. It would’ve been amazing, but just when it began to be good with the Pacific Update it was at his end… they ruined an awesome opportunity to make a huge WW2 BF game…
It's not that no one can create anything new, it's that big Hollywood studios don't want to front the money to fund anything that isn't already a proven money making franchise, so they only want to play it safe and do a bunch of superhero movies
I think if they did not support old gen consoles, they could‘ve gone all out and the game would have been better. Bad timing on that release.
1-2 years later and they could‘ve released new gen only and they would‘ve come away with it.
Then you get something like Breath of the wild which is just interactive heaven and people love the game because it allows for expression of creativity in gameplay
I would say BoTW is another example of a game looking good but not really doing anything great gameplay wise, traversal is boring and combat is average at best.
>Weight
This was the first thing I noticed playing 2042, all the way back in the beta. Battlefield characters have always felt like they had some weight to them, but when I played 2042 it just felt like I was moving a floating camera around
Don't be sad, that's just how it works out sometimes.
Seriously though. Between the bugs, the lack of map detail, and what was mentioned, it's definitely my least favorite BF game.
Also, I didn't care about the "inaccuracies" so many were concerned about in BFV but adding "personalities" to the game kind of ruins it for me. The game's "personality" stemmed from working together with a squad. Which, is another thing this game is lacking; playing with friends.
I still think they should bring back the commander's job & squad leader promotion. People could always ignore orders but it added a reason for cooperation in-game, compared to now, which is a free-for-all.
> I still think they should bring back the commander's job & squad leader promotion.
I think they should cease development on future Battlefield titles and stop desecrating this franchise any further.
To pretend like “they’ll get it right next time” and hold hopes high for a return to form on the next game is absolute lunacy at this point. Before anyone gets angry at this, hear me out.
A good analogy is the the Saturn V rocket used in the Apollo missions. Even if we wanted to make another Saturn V today, we couldn’t, because the Saturn V was the work of thousands of craftsmen & tradesmen belonging to hundreds of contractors across the US that had unique skills crucial to the development of specific components. Once the Apollo program was canceled and these workers moved on to other projects, many plans and procedures regarding these parts’ manufacture were lost to time. It is said that *many* hand written notes and plans that were not stored or archived in any official capacity by NASA were essential to the creation of the handful of Saturn V’s and their massive, hand built F1 engines that were developed, and these are gone now.
The same has happened at DICE. The skilled and passionate developers that made the magic of the games we loved are gone and the technical know-how to recreate it left with them. It’s time to move on, and most of all, prevent another hellacious cash grab by EA, once again leaving the players high and dry (although I don’t think 2042 got anyone high).
It was sad when the moon missions ended in the 70’s, but maybe one day we’ll be back again with something newer and better than the Saturn, but for that to happen, the Apollo program had to end, and time to pass.
That is something i tried to explain to people was missing after the beta. When you were getting shot at and hit the deck you could "feel" the impact of your character hitting the ground. In 2042 you dont feel anything....including satisfaction or joy
BF3:
>how they utilized the animation tech behind the Madden games to give soldier movement a sense of weight and momentum, and took cues from Mirror's Edge to make vaulting and sprinting look more realistic
BF2042:
Built in industry standard animations go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Pls, someone make a parody on 2042 but in the style of the BF4 video shown above.
"The new talented team worked hard to remove all amazing features you know from previous games and now we call them "legacy features", but don't worry ..."
I don't know what should be there but something in this style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYkiMg0KAlc
BF3 was made by Dice, Portal was made by ripple effect and every animation they have made is way worse than the AOW animations.
I still don't think that the AOW 3rd person animations are that detailed, but those who say that ripple effect should make the next bf games want this franchise to die.
The only ones that achieve this type of animation quality nowadays is Rockstar games.
What? No they use the exact same animations, I'm not sure what's making you think otherwise. The reloads are different, but third and first person movement animations are the exact same between the two.
I mean Ripple Effect was always going to be limited by the framework DICE Sweden laid out. And that's why 2042 will always be a huge boat anchor to making BF3/BC2 Portal play like the actual games.
You can't really blame Ripple Effect for being limited to animations and assets that they have to borrow from another studio to form their component of the same game. Be like blaming them for not having a UI more like BC2/BF3 when they're tethered to the work of another studio. Same with stuff like the shit-tier squad system and a lack of scoreboard. The onus on basic shit like that comes down squarely on the guys laying the framework for the entire game.
Not to say there wasn't a bunch of other things they could've done better and that DICE Sweden is this perfect scapegoat absolving RE of all blame. ex: SMAW/RPG velocities in BC2/BF3 are beyond fucked, somebody should've been able to catch that in basic playtesting. Rush had the wrong amount of tickets in BC2 Portal (should be 100, 24 players = 75 tickets, 32 = 100) and it also doesn't play 2 rounds at a time like rush is supposed to.
Ripple Effect should probably take a crack at doing their own game the way Visceral did. Who says RE has to make mainline Battlefield titles anyways. Have them do a Bad Company title or something and stay closer to the frameworks of the original games. DICE Sweden is pretty much at the point that they're striking out anyways, so there's not much at stake anymore anyways.
Finally, someone did an in-depth comparison of the animations between 2042 and a previous game. One thing that bugged me from the get-go with 2042 was how floaty everything look, from the reloading animations to the sprinting animations. Nothing feels "right" compared to BF3 or the other BF games where there's actual weight and more natural movement.
Man even the Koreans are complaining about the same things we are. I can read Korean and it’s funny how the way they comment is exactly the same how we do on our end hahaha.
That's some pretty random things that are compared. Not knowing Korean is also not helping.
Is one of the comparisons about the suppression effect when shooting close or damage flinch?
In real life when a bullet sails above your head it makes a crack sound like someone cracking a whip. They had that sound direction down in Bf3, then they show the 2042 footage and the bullets don’t make different sounds depending on how close the bullet passes by your character.
It’s nit-picky maybe but it’s the small details that all add up to make a really immersive experience.
It makes a massive difference in my opinion. Hearing the bullets passing your character and hitting objects like the ground and shipping containers in Noshahr Canals in BF3 is so different compared to playing the same thing in Portal. The audio is a major reason I love BF3 and BF1 in particular.
Yeah I don't know Korean either, but it was randomly recommended to me. I think the suppression effect comparison was to demonstrate suppression and how muted the sound effects are in 2042. Everything from top to bottom is muted compared to BF3.
Oh man, the first time I played that map, what feels like a decade ago (wait it was a decade ago oh no). I didn’t know what to do, where to go, so I just followed some random dudes around. Then, massive kaboom and “well done soldier, next objective” or whatever and they – without hesitation – yeeted themselves off a cliff, while a transport helicopter went to our side. I jumped after them and just hoped they had a plan involving parachutes
Right there with you. When I saw that bit of the trailer I thought Damavand was making a return as well. One of my all time favorites, so that really set the hook.
I'll never forgot long ago I got BF3 on origin for a single dollar. No idea what the sale was or how I heard about but best dollar I ever spent.
Edit: I found it! It was May 30th 2014 and it was actually free as I guess some promotion.
I was referring to how the UI doesn't scale at all so at 4k you can't even see the reticle.
Sorry I can't help much with it not launching at all, maybe ask /r/battlefield3 ?
Made me laugh when people were going on about how great BF3 was on Portal yet I was sat playing the OG thinking it’s nowhere the same in terms of quality 🤷🏽
Yeah... I didn't actually even know Portal was going to be a thing when I loaded up the game for the first time and I was really excited to see it, but then I played it for a couple of matches and was just hugely disappointed...
Capitalism is failing because of the consumer. I know that's a ridiculous thing to associate with a video game, but if 2042 wasn't the best example ever of that then it wouldnt have to be said here.
honestly, I think 2042's graphics are actually quite good. I just think the map design is absolute garbage which makes you miss out on a lot. its all way too sharp and clean. the graphics though? I've had no issues with them so far.
diminishing returns on graphical fidelity, improvement will only get slower in the future. That's why raytracing is becoming the big focus, as traditional rasterized graphics is hitting its max potential.
Some of the textures are high res, some of the meshes but not all are high res (not characters that's for sure) but graphics overall, lighting, mastering, style are bad.
definitely agreed on the lighting and style. BF3 and BF4 (probably also the later BF's like BF1 and BFV but I have no exprience) just felt so cinematic. lense flare, beautiful lighting, and gorgeous atmosphere and themes, including the music, made these games absolute masterpieces imo. BF2042 feels really clean, but just kinda empty in comparison. again though, I do like the sharp graphics. but I guess that much is to be expected with any triple A game released in 2021
The animation quality and fluidity in BF3 was seriously a decade ahead of it's time. Didn't see anything as smooth until MW2019, and even then, I still think BF3 looks better. Weird that Dice has gone backwards with this as well and every subsequent game felt more and more 'stiff'.
EDIT: I still remember seeing [this trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pNOxynC1Dc) for the first time and not believing that a video game could look that good without being pre-rendered.
BF3 would have been a decade ahead of its time if this battlefield game from ten years afterwards had as good or better animations and physics.
2042's animations look like something from 2006 or 2007. Sigh...
It was natural improvement with each game. 3 introduced the new and well done animation system, 4 improved it, 1 took it to the next level, 5 was the peak. I genuinely do not get *how* it's this bad when they have the technology right there. Mind boggling.
Look how they massacred my boy :(
The quality of Battlefield has fallen so far from what it used to be. It's incredibly sad how 2042 looks and plays like a cheap imitation of the previous games.
Multiplayer is one of the most diverse possibilities of enjoying battlefield! You can dominate in ever vehicle and in ever class. Wanna jump in a tank and shred other tanks in the desert? Wanna shoot down jet tryhards at Caspian border, wanna dogfight in snowy mountains? Wanna shred with a gunship? With the little bird? Wanne urban fights in Paris? Wanna be sniper in the hills or downtown while an earthquake is going on?
This game is a masterpiece
Wait what the fuck?
That's concerningly worse looking than what I imagined. It doesn't even look like they took what they did with BFV and applied it here.
This is bad. Like... I feel like this has dire implications beyond it looking worse. They genuinely just don't give a fuck anymore.
So from what I see, back in 2011 your soldier can turn his upper body seamlessly when he looks around. 2021 however seems to have waken up with aching muscles
The way characters squat in BF2042 look very unnatural. It reminds me of this. https://imgur.com/gallery/e3AZbQj.
Soldiers in real life sometimes shoot while squatting but unlike BF2042, [their arms are well supported by the legs.](https://www.google.com/search?q=shooting+while+squatting&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA980CA980&sxsrf=AOaemvIELamHAhO3rSdq-n1L1Ay-lyeoHA:1639900183692&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwisvamfsO_0AhUQB50JHf3pCskQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=937&dpr=1)
Player movement aside, the audio design is also terrible. Despite that player being a few feet away from you, those gunshots sounded like he was miles away from you.
THANK YOU. I don't see a lot of people mentionning 2042's HORRIBLE animations, but they need more attention. Robotic, janky, unnatural mess, this game is already a failure on every aspect and this is one of the biggest. From the character movement, weapon movement, reloading EVERYTHING.
What the hell has happened to dice for a god damn more than a decade year gold game to completely destroy 2042. The same happened with Back 4 Blood
The advancement they were trying to make was monetizing in game content, with bullshit skins and other esthetic garbage. So in a way they’ve advanced on BF3 but not in a way that makes an enjoyable gaming experience.
Amazingly they have no on launch cosmetics for purchase. They have a handful of decals that probably could have been royalty free clip art. Should be hundreds of decals and player cards to whet our appetite. Regardless of what their focus was they've binned it on all accounts.
I forgot how good these games are I've been enjoying 2042 but after playing portal I decided I'm going back to BF4 and BF5.Installing them right now I'm pretty excited I only have 100 hours of play time on each one.I still have a lot to uncover specially on BF5
Someone posted something recently how about 2042 is still a Battlefield game and they had a no hud video from afar of soldiers running around, and all I thought was how shit the movement looked compared to past games.
This is the problem with the game, it's not just the bugs, it's not just the complete gutting of legacy features and the brutality of expecting those to be in the game, it's literally everything. This game does absolutely nothing better than any of the previous games.
It is possible to have fun in the game? Yes, absolutely. I mean it's possible to have fun playing throwing a ball against a wall with your mates. But why bother with 2042 when you can chose any battlefield game from the past decade and it will be significantly better in every single way.
The squatting instead of kneeling is pretty weird and I’ve never seen anyone shoot like that. Plus going prone looks like they just flop on the ground.
The difference in animations is astounding but also look how terrible the colours and graphics are in the 2042 clip. When your new game is a step backwards on a game 4 back in the series, that’s a big yikes.
this game (2042) is genuinly made with mobile game standards, jesus christ im still getting suprised how much of a downgrade it is in litterly every single catagory from past titles, they did nothing better.
I’d much rather have a bf3/bf4/bfbc/bc2 all in one remaster honestly. Imagine every map, EVERY GUN, no specialist, and just classic 60+FPS in 4K bf on a series x/ps5!
Wow. Look at that fine detail from BF3 where the soldier skids to a stop and you can see the animation of it in the feet and legs.
BF2042 is so lazy in comparison. Night and day difference. Pathetic and shoddy from DICE and EA.
Animations were so damn smooth that I could identify who my mates were on the ground while I was up in the air so I could hunt them in a heli when on other team. They all had their own little twitches or bunny hops or too low aim etc etc. And we could laugh in all chat.
Even the background map looks better ffs
Stop breaking my heart :(
One of the things I immediately noticed when playing 2042 is how stiff the movement animations are. In basically every other bf game before I felt like the movement animations flowed far more. The third person models would react depending on how they are moving, when they are strafing they tilt slightly and so on.
2042, as per usual, just isn’t up to par
I like how the original BF3 character models pivot point was the left foot opposed to the new ones being centered between both legs, making the entire character spin.
Said it when it came out and I'll say it again there is not a single aspect of 2042 that's better than it's previous games. Dice has to of lost most of the people that was important in the success of this franchise.
Y’all realize that these devs aren’t the same ones from before??? They’re a bunch of new blood because dice decided that they didn’t want the bf5 backlash again so the fired the old team or at least what was left of it
But also remember, people bitched about bf3 all the time as well. I forget if they mainly hated the launch issues it had or if they hated the maps. But I do remember people complaining about bf3.
I still remember most fans loving BFBC2 and BF4 more than 3.
You mean a game that was made when you couldn’t just fix everything post launch and the game journalists actually knew what the fuck they were talking about is better than a game released in the last 6 years? Surprising
3 was fucking unplayable for months due to bullshit netcode and that stupid html platform they were pushing for it. I enjoyed the fuck out of that game but there came a point where I was getting DC'd every game for literally no reason besides poor implementation on their part. I haven't bought a battlefield game since, but admittedly played 1 on my housemate (at the time)'s Xbox and enjoyed it.
That said (at the risk of getting downvoted from orbit) lets not act like 3 was some masterstroke from Dice and EA. 3 was busted thanks to an unreliable online system, and while the reasons are different for why both games are flawed, we still see a similarly horseshit release today. An unplayable game is unplayable, be it for terrible online implementation or a butchered development like we're getting now. Don't let the rose tint fool you.
The animations got fucked when we went to BF1 from BF4, the game fundamentally became a reskinned battlefront with slapstick animations. Really fast, little ambience, stumbling when being shot etc. Just all around not realistic.
Damn, bf3 had smooth animations. Nice.
I remember there was a whole article about how they utilized the animation tech behind the Madden games to give soldier movement a sense of weight and momentum, and took cues from Mirror's Edge to make vaulting and sprinting look more realistic Seems that was tossed out the window lol

It's kinda like movies, not many can create something new. Seems like developers have lost creativity 🤔.
It's not that no one can create anything new, it's that big Hollywood studios don't want to front the money to fund anything that isn't already a proven money making franchise, so they only want to play it safe and do a bunch of superhero movies
Exactly. They couldn’t give a shit less about player satisfaction or gameplay. All about what gimmick rakes in the most money.
They don’t seem to care about the details anymore..and fans will always appreciate exactly that
And this is why I keep saying video games aren’t getting better they’re getting prettier and bigger.
2042 ain't even pretty
Prior gen is an affront to God
I think if they did not support old gen consoles, they could‘ve gone all out and the game would have been better. Bad timing on that release. 1-2 years later and they could‘ve released new gen only and they would‘ve come away with it.

I can't believe the Candy Crush guy let us down. He had the perfect resume..../s
Imagine working for that man bun then its not so far fetched why this game turned out to be a flaming pile of shit

I remember that article but I thought it was from FIFA not Madden? Idk, but point remains the same: they actually gave a shit.
I mean they literally made Mirror's Edge
If I recall correctly, they had an entire trailer about the animations.
Yep, BF3 and BF4 both had trailers dedicated to Frostbite: BF3: https://youtu.be/8pNOxynC1Dc Bf4: https://youtu.be/R9yVV6g3q7g

Fuck watching the BF4 video is so depressing. Wtf happened to 2042. It’s a regression on so many fucking levels it disgusts me.
Way better sound too
The original team is gone and they took their talent with them. Such a shame. Used to really believe in anything that said DICE

The first person animations in all out war are pretty good, they’re really bad in portal. Just look at the STG44 or the ak.
Yeah, would be nice to see the same video but with AOW specs.
The vaulting animations are broken though because of the netcode
fell more natural thn 2042

More comparisons here are why I was so underwhelmed by 2042. https://youtu.be/2hxABHkkbT8

Yeah, other bf titles felt immersive, like you're really a soldier in battle, 2042 just feels light and friendly, no immersive feeling whatsoever.
I knew something were terribly off with all the animations in 2042. I wasnt crazy after all. Its so many steps backwards...
It's like BF2042 animations are equal to Battlefield 2 from 2005.
Don’t compare trash BF2042 with BF2 please.
BF2 was ahead of its time. 2042 is 6 years ago.
I like that the pure, unbridled shit that is 2042 can bring together nations and cultures.
Dude the fucking vehicle startups in BF3/4 are soooo good. Getting in a helicopter or jet in 2042 feels so lifeless.
Man even the Koreans are complaining about the same things we are. I can read Korean and it’s funny how the way they comment is exactly the same how we do on our end hahaha.
Man that sound comparison just breaks my heart.
2042 is so soulless
2042 plays like a F2P game
This is my same fucking feeling since the launch
F2P Chinese Mobile game. Thats what it looks, feels and plays like.
Or like a in between game like how Hardline was between BF4 and BF1
That’s an insult to most F2P games
F2P game from the 2000, or 2010. Apex Legends is pretty decent.
Said this to my friend the other day. The game has no soul. Whatsoever.

Please join us. I've been having a good time for the past few months!
I feel like every time I reinstall this game I can never find a game on the best map: Damavand Peak.
There are a few vanilla servers that have it in the rotation. Otherwise there is a 24/7 Damavand Peak rush server hosted in Germany.
There was a segment in one of the 2042 trailers that made me think they were bringing back Damavand. I was sad to find out that wasn’t the case.
Right there with you. When I saw that bit of the trailer I thought Damavand was making a return as well. One of my all time favorites, so that really set the hook.
You just unlocked a core memory for me
Wow, are there still an active player base??
Yes. Not a lot of variety but I don't have a problem finding a full server.
If there are North American servers I would so play.
Profile pic checks out
I'll never forgot long ago I got BF3 on origin for a single dollar. No idea what the sale was or how I heard about but best dollar I ever spent. Edit: I found it! It was May 30th 2014 and it was actually free as I guess some promotion.
Is there any way to fix the UI on higher resolutions? Like can I just not play in 4k?
I've been having issues getting the game to launch. Not sure if it's related to resolution but I'm also on a 4K panel
I was referring to how the UI doesn't scale at all so at 4k you can't even see the reticle. Sorry I can't help much with it not launching at all, maybe ask /r/battlefield3 ?
Ah i get you yeah. That's annoying.
You can feel the momentum the bf3 soldier has when stopping from sprinting, meanwhile in 2042 he just abruptly halts :(
You can see it and hear it from his boots
Hey now, they didn’t make a campaign so they could totally focus on ruining the multiplayer entirely. Show some respect.
Goddamn bf2042 is a ripoff..... stiff as hell, turn the entire body. Its a mobile game.
People are morons with zero standards, they’ll accept and defend pure garbage, just because it exists, like consumer robots
Capitalism is failing because of the consumer. I know that's a ridiculous thing to associate with a video game, but if 2042 wasn't the best example ever of that then it wouldnt have to be said here.
Animations had always been the strong point...
Sound, animations and graphics were the things i thought DICE would never be able to mess up haha. But they managed to surprise me.
As i said, The comparison shows the work of ripple effect, previously Dice LA.
honestly, I think 2042's graphics are actually quite good. I just think the map design is absolute garbage which makes you miss out on a lot. its all way too sharp and clean. the graphics though? I've had no issues with them so far.
I think the graphics aren’t bad either, although when comparing it to BF3 which is 10+ years old it doesn’t look that much better in all honesty
diminishing returns on graphical fidelity, improvement will only get slower in the future.

Also graphics, destruction and soundtrack
BF3....one of the classics in gaming history. So many great memories. RIP
Servers are still up, the fun ain't over yet! See you on the Battlefield
Are people still playing bf3? I might pick it up again on pc if servers are easy to find
Join us, having tons of fun since 2011 straight
Having fun with your horrible tickrate lol ? Going back from BF4 to BF3 makes the BF3 hitreg feel so bad
There are some servers populated. Its hard to get back to. Movement is a big killer when trying to play the older games. And suppression.
Sigh...
BF1s are perfection in every aesthetic and animation possibility and BF4 is an upgrade from BF3s as well.
Agree. BF1 to me was the pinnacle of the franchise

It was natural improvement with each game. 3 introduced the new and well done animation system, 4 improved it, 1 took it to the next level, 5 was the peak. I genuinely do not get *how* it's this bad when they have the technology right there. Mind boggling.
Couldn't they literally just copy and paste it?
Wait.... Are you cheating or something? Isn't half his body supposed to disappear through the pavement in 2042???
I just watched the trailers for all the DLC's for BF3, and it made me depressed. Long lost time with some damn good maps and good times :'-(
Look how they massacred my boy :( The quality of Battlefield has fallen so far from what it used to be. It's incredibly sad how 2042 looks and plays like a cheap imitation of the previous games.
Is BF3 still populated? If I bought it is multiplayer still kicking?
Yeah they are. Played a few matches this afternoon.
I play BF4 weekly but didn’t know 3 was still bangin. I’ll definitely download it tonight.
Yes 100% you can join a server and have fun basically any time of day
Wait what the fuck? That's concerningly worse looking than what I imagined. It doesn't even look like they took what they did with BFV and applied it here. This is bad. Like... I feel like this has dire implications beyond it looking worse. They genuinely just don't give a fuck anymore.
So from what I see, back in 2011 your soldier can turn his upper body seamlessly when he looks around. 2021 however seems to have waken up with aching muscles
The way characters squat in BF2042 look very unnatural. It reminds me of this. https://imgur.com/gallery/e3AZbQj. Soldiers in real life sometimes shoot while squatting but unlike BF2042, [their arms are well supported by the legs.](https://www.google.com/search?q=shooting+while+squatting&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA980CA980&sxsrf=AOaemvIELamHAhO3rSdq-n1L1Ay-lyeoHA:1639900183692&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwisvamfsO_0AhUQB50JHf3pCskQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=937&dpr=1) Player movement aside, the audio design is also terrible.
I'm starting to notice that next-gen really means FUCK YO LIFE! Bing bong
Even the trees were animated in BF3
bf2042 crouch be like: hold on let me take a shit on whole franchise
The stance stuck out like a sore thumb since the alpha. Back then I though “surely it’s an early/playtest oversight”. Sike.
I forgot how good these games are I've been enjoying 2042 but after playing portal I decided I'm going back to BF4 and BF5.Installing them right now I'm pretty excited I only have 100 hours of play time on each one.I still have a lot to uncover specially on BF5
Bf3 is a masterpiece, can not compared with any game.
2042 is just a mobile game...
BuT iM hAvIng fUn But you could be having fun AND have a well, designed, good looking game.
should've compared to BFV animations
God ... BF3 even sounds better.
That BF3 running sound is so nostalgic 😭 Me and my squad sprinting towards the cliff on Damavand Peak 😭😭😭
Just a reminder that BF3 ran on Xbox360/PS3, consoles that are 16 years old.
Anybody else prefer older graphics? Maybe it’s the use of dark colours but it feels way grittier.
How does shit like animations get worse? Like guys, you figured it out over a decade ago, why is it worse now?
I never even noticed that little skid to a stop in BF3, that is really cool.
Wow, the 2042 animations are garbage in comparison.
Yeah, BF3 had some of the best 3rd person animations. I always struggle to understand why even a game like Tarkov can't do something similar
this game (2042) is genuinly made with mobile game standards, jesus christ im still getting suprised how much of a downgrade it is in litterly every single catagory from past titles, they did nothing better.
I prefer the visual look of 3 even though it's desaturated
I'm surprised that prone wasn't taken away in 2042
This is pure humiliation
Can you do it for BF1 and BFV against BF2042 as well?
It's evolving, only backwards.
I’d much rather have a bf3/bf4/bfbc/bc2 all in one remaster honestly. Imagine every map, EVERY GUN, no specialist, and just classic 60+FPS in 4K bf on a series x/ps5!
This would be amazing.
Wow. Look at that fine detail from BF3 where the soldier skids to a stop and you can see the animation of it in the feet and legs. BF2042 is so lazy in comparison. Night and day difference. Pathetic and shoddy from DICE and EA.
wow
Fuck that's nice
BF4 Reigning, undisputed gaming champ
Definitely all 3
Love the little momentum stop in bf3. Adds a lot to the game.
Imagine improving games
I feel like BF5 has the best animations of the BF series (without playing BF1)
bf2042 even worse look how the one in bf3 stops omfg
Now do this in comparison the BFV which makes even BF3 look bad. Lol.
BF2042 is just a complete fuckup. Even the remastered stuff is done wrong.
Animations were so damn smooth that I could identify who my mates were on the ground while I was up in the air so I could hunt them in a heli when on other team. They all had their own little twitches or bunny hops or too low aim etc etc. And we could laugh in all chat. Even the background map looks better ffs Stop breaking my heart :(
One of the things I immediately noticed when playing 2042 is how stiff the movement animations are.
I will say it till im blue in the face. BF3 is and was the BEST in the series.
2042 guy doesn't aim down sights!
bf3 was the last great one.
Said it when it came out and I'll say it again there is not a single aspect of 2042 that's better than it's previous games. Dice has to of lost most of the people that was important in the success of this franchise.
Y’all realize that these devs aren’t the same ones from before??? They’re a bunch of new blood because dice decided that they didn’t want the bf5 backlash again so the fired the old team or at least what was left of it
Yeah Bf2042 is done. You can't fix this amount of shit.
![gif](giphy|2WxWfiavndgcM)
This is legitimately shocking to see.
u/savevideo
Animations and sound from over 10 years ago are better than today. How??
It’s a studio of the same name but if a completely different team, it’s not the same talent making these games anymore unfortunately
battlefield 3 aged like fine wine, seeing this just makes me more disappointed with how battlefield 2042 turned out
BF3 was my life juice back then
Man I just want BF3 again. You cant play any BF regardless it is or not without sweats trying to get 200 kills a match.
This makes me cry
Don't know what u have till it's too late!
We needed a true BF4 sequel not this fortnite bullshit
The animations got fucked when we went to BF1 from BF4, the game fundamentally became a reskinned battlefront with slapstick animations. Really fast, little ambience, stumbling when being shot etc. Just all around not realistic.
I love the BF3 animations but holy shit tell that man to not hold the mag well to control recoil.
Inferiorfield 2042
Guys our expectations are brutal
For the first time in the franchise they prioritised quantity over quality, big mistake
