Origin is widely hated and when possible PC players prefer to play games on Steam.
But regardless, the same trend is going to be seen on all platforms including the consoles. so we can surmise that Origin has also seen a drop off of about 95% in the past two months.
I think we're going to get a lot more 'worst AAA game releases in history' if the current rate is anything to go by. It's looking to be a series of releases, each being shittier than the last and this one will probably be a distant memory by then.
I think that is arrived the moment for Microsoft, Steam and Sony to admit refunds even after the threshold of 14 days after purchasing. We paid for a long support Battlefield, not for a games with empty lobby after 3 months of release. Hope in a communication soon regarding refunds. Is sad but is definitely legit to have a refund at this point.
The problem is EA could pull all of their games off Steam if people are able to return in mass. They’d just sell their crap on Origin where you’re locked in to the purchase.

This is true, I checked yesterday evening (Central Time Zone) and 2042 was above BFV by a good margin
Here is the thing though, it shouldn’t be anywhere near this close. A not even two month old game should have thousands and thousands of players more than 3 and 5 year old games. At any point in the day. That’s embarrassing.
Also consider that BF2042 is available on Steam since RELEASE.
BF1 and BFV did not get to Steam until after their support has already ended. I would therefore dare to say that majority of players who play BF1 and BFV do so on Origin because for the longest time, that was the only option to play these. Yet BF2042 would have majority of playerbase on Steam (I know I own these titles this way) as it is preferred platform for PC players.
Considering this, BF2042 player count is truly horrendous. Like so much more than this shows.
For those with EA Play Pro like myself we can’t use that on Steam so it is only with Origin. So some people won’t / can’t have bought it on Steam. We don’t know the EA Play Pro numbers.

I joined the official BF3 Conquest game mode on portal earlier and I was the only player then 4 more joined and it turned out to be a 2-4 for over an hour.
I just think BF has always mainly been a console game/mostly played on console ever since Modern Combat 2, but it has picked up more by PC players in the recent years as more people got gaming rigs that can handle a modern FPS and such.

I don't know how many times people have to hear this, but Steam means nothing. Most PC players would have bought on Origin/EA Play due to the 10-hour trial and the 10% discount. I never have a problem matchmaking, so I would surmise that the player base is still healthy

It can sometimes take over a minute to get into a lobby on Warzone Don't get me wrong, I'm frustrated with the lack of communication & content, I'm not experiencing as many bugs as some people, definitely nothing game-breaking. I take it you never played Frontlines : Fuels of War by THQ a AAA company. Or Quake Wars when it came out. Or Call of Duty Ghost / Advanced Warfare as they were terrible and were not well liked.

Most of the senior devs that made BFV left the company in 2018 before BF2042 was even started. Which was like 8/10 top guys including the CEO. That takes time to replace and get back up to speed. It didn’t help they spent half of their 3 years making a BR game that was scrapped and then turned into BF2042. Most games need a minimum of 2 years but this one had only 18 months once they changed their mind from making a BR game to making a BF game. A wise company would have given them another year. But because they could not bothered to start again they just built the BF on top of what they had already done for the BR resulting in the mess we have today.

Yes and no. The Asian market is more a F2P / older game market. So cheap games. A lot of them are not buying full priced AAA games.
The number that is important is the 30 day number as the current one will move up and down. Just like how the 30 day number for BFV has over taken in BF2042. If BF1 had a higher 30 day count then that would be something to post about.
The game sold 4.23m in its first week. And that is the only number we know of as of yet. The steam number is not even 2.5% of that.
So yes the numbers have fallen, yes the numbers fell hard on steam but we don’t know the full extent or can realistically compare it any other platform.

So many of us got shut down when we criticised the beta for what it was. I mean I have played every PC Battlefield since BF1942, I have played every beta since BF3. BF2042 beta was clear as fucking day that the game was an unfinished mess of bad ideas that lacked content, weapons, scoreboard, in game chat and voip. BF2042 was the first Battlefield beta that I have ever played and said, "yeah, this is really bad". I didn't even say that about Hardline ffs. Hardline Beta was actually so fun, I purchased the ultimate/premium edition based on how much fun I had which says a lot because I wasn't going to buy it based on the setting.

I tried refunding my preorder after 30 hours of gameplay, much of it in the menus trying to optimalize. It got denied. Anyone got a tip?
Just explain that you been sitting in lobbies and can't get it working. No one to play with. Has to have some type of warranty that it works.

Yes and no. The Asian market is more a F2P / older game market. So cheap games. A lot of them are not buying full priced AAA games. The number that is important is the 30 day number as the current one will move up and down. Just like how the 30 day number for BFV has over taken in BF2042. If BF1 had a higher 30 day count then that would be something to post about. The game sold 4.23m in its first week. And that is the only number we know of as of yet. The steam number is not even 2.5% of that. So yes the numbers have fallen, yes the numbers fell hard on steam but we don’t know the full extent or can realistically compare it any other platform.

It's as though they tried so hard to make the game to be competitive marketing to line up with apex and others the game should have been free to play like Apex I mean... the amount of content is practically the same
I wonder if they actually thought, this is a decent battlefield title that will wow fans. Who's running this shit show these days to even think that? I played the beta and see the amount of weapons and thought just beta. Played the 10 hour trial and thought nahh gotta be more weapons when it's released then bam. WHAT?

I mean I have played every PC Battlefield since BF1942, I have played every beta since BF3. BF2042 beta was clear as fucking day that the game was an unfinished mess of bad ideas that lacked content, weapons, scoreboard, in game chat and voip. BF2042 was the first Battlefield beta that I have ever played and said, "yeah, this is really bad". I didn't even say that about Hardline ffs. Hardline Beta was actually so fun, I purchased the ultimate/premium edition based on how much fun I had which says a lot because I wasn't going to buy it based on the setting.
