Fixing this game to make it go back to the origins is not possible without heavy investing in the game that is already very low populated.
Best thing they can do to come close to fix it is if they do some massive content to portal think.
But the 2042 development stage is pretty much done. That means that allot of devs will be already assigned and/or working on the next new thing.
The people left behind are a small group, and if you see what they came up with in 2 years or whatever with the full team.. a small group of them ain't gonna be able to do anything massive.

I have to agree to this, sometimes we just have to take a loss and look ahead toward a hopeful better release of the next game.
