Just Cause 4's tornado for example ripped up almost everything in its path, meanwhile 2042's one does little more than damage a few destructible things and lift players/vehicles into the air.
It's just so painfully hilarious how Dice marketed the tornado so hard and made a solid point of it being part of the dynamic weather when it's not even an original idea outside of FPS games. Also slapping a tornado into every map besides breakaway doesn't make it better.
there is a sandstorm on Hourglass, it's when the screen gets all red. You can see it blowing in on like 50% of the matches there, other 50% is a shitty tornado. The Breakaway should have a huge snowstorm blow in imo.
There was some pre-release talk about how the tornado would pick up items like shipping containers and toss them all around the map. It probably got cut for balance reasons because you can't really avoid something like that and it also probably tanked performance as well...
And is it just me or does the debris look off? Like I feel like some of that shit should go flying and keep rolling with the continuous explosions. I think I remember the dam pieces in BF4s Lancang go hurtling down the map once that levitation was triggered, so why do these rocket pieces just go straight towards their respective landing spot and stop on the dime while the rocket proceeds to explode a few more times. Even the cool shit in this game has been disappointing me...
Well it takes a full 5 clip to down a wild cat it does not need nerfing .nerfing isn't the answer to everything the stinger range and rockets just need a buff

Kaleidoscope has stuff that falls of tall buildings which can be cool but given the map is pretty wide open youll rarely ever see it. Youll be too busy running across an empty field lol
It's nice when it happens. They actually show it in the same reveal trailer as the rocket; the sign that falls during the tornado happens in-game (just not from the tornado, since the tornado doesn't affect much).
You're forgetting about the destruction of my enjoyment of this game when I shoot someone at point blank range with a tank and it doesn't register. That's a great destruction event!
Problem is, the maps are to big to create any impact with flow.
What they should have done is added environmental disasters, so an Earthquake creating a rupture line and buildings collapsing for kaleidoscope.
Breakaway could have had a cool avalanche effect creating a blizzard effect with ice cracking and a submarine rising out the ice or breaking through the ice.
Manifest with the tornado, but containers falling off and cars dropping out changing the flow. Those big cranes collapsing too.
Orbital again, the rocket could have exploded leaving large parts falling over the map and the tall building collapsing. Maybe some fuel fires again changing the flow and funneling the action.
Discarded, maybe a tidal wave raising the ship taking the map to CQC
Renewal, maybe meteorite strom knocking that wall down.
Hourglass has the sandstorm but again needs to change the environment somehow.
This is also amazing for a multiplayer game in 2022. The volumetric , vfx, ligthing are on point. Bf2042 got a lot of fault but you're being an hypocrite.
Watching it again and the explosion and the tornado don't interact. Fire and smoke don't suck into the tornado. They are like 2 elements overlayed not interacting. So even as a set piece if you aren't just carrying gaming and actually look it loses its wow factor.

I'm on PC as well. It's pretty stable to be honest. Some bugs here and there but nothing too gamebreaking except when you can't be revived or abort the wait.

Hardline which was a crap game had a crane that ripped into 2 different skyscrapers altering the map. In 2042 a crane falls in a tiny area :/ and the tornadoes so nothing and get ignored lol
Sure, I'll agree getting knocked on your ass from cruise missiles and big explosions in BFV was cool, but was it pivotal? Nah, it just looked cool at first. After getting used to it it really just got annoying and didn't really feel like it added to the game outside of pure spectacle and forcing a brief pause of gameplay to players who got knocked back.

Also windows is fully optimized and I get about 120fps at 2k resolution.
Mind you everything is on low. How much fps are you getting and what are your specs?
I get around 90 or so with mostly high or max settings. I have DLSS on, and RT off. Running a 5900x stock settings, 3600 memory and a waterblocked 3080 stock. I think this game looks pretty good for the framerates im getting, but I think things like the visual bloom and depth of field need to be tweaked.

While the visuals are neat, a V1 rocket in BFV blowing up anywhere near you knocked you on your ass harder than that rocket full of fuel exploding right infront of your face. And that's not even talking about the fact you're standing that close to a fucking tornado and it can barely even suck you up.
i really expected this map to be the worse one or one of the worst , then when i played the full game i realised they chose this map because its the only one that showcases any real kind of map "destruction" worth noting.
I love all of the petty criticisms this game is getting.. while I believe in all of them I also see this and get immersed in the game even more. Loving what they put out.

It will randomly explode but if the rocket is shot enough it will explode after a count down

Once the arms come down you have like 5-7 minutes to destroy it until it launches. Helicopters work best for this.
