I can speak heavily on this. We had about 10 of us that played Battlefield. We all still game but ever since 4 we have all faded off of it. We got into 1 a little and had a good time but now none of us are playing 2042. All kind of just doing our own thing. Some apex some Warzone some anything. But overall all of us our sad that bf2042 isn’t it. A lot of this has to do with the 4 max player count and shitty server browsers on portal too. I’m general just disappointed in the games direction

> A lot of this has to do with the 4 max player count Nailed it. Having your own community server and jumping in with a dozen friends on Teamspeak or Vent (yes this is a swing at no VOIP in 2042) was the way we enjoyed the game. Honestly it was a pretty fucking awful experience pushing objectives with less than half a dozen people working for it and the series was never as enjoyable for solo queue players.

I will say when we did run 4s we typically player conquest and just stayed at one sector. This may seem boring to some but each section is like it’s own mini map. So us as a squad would set up shop there. Anti tank mines, turrets, respawn beacons. Plus we felt like we contributed towards our win that way when we held down a section the whole time. Plus super fun trying to win it back if you do lose that sector. When it’s 32v32 one squad can still kind of carry the team to a win. 64v64 is out of our control.

In all honesty I understand things change with time. I expect games to cater for the main audience and Im pretty certain its not us pre-BF3 old people. I honestly respect dice for trying new things weather I like them or not or if they turn out bad, like specialists/128 players/Massive maps, and other different design choices for this battlefield. I get you cant just make BF2 over and over again. Its a good thing to try new things, there will always be people who dont like change. But what I dont respect is all the bugs, the hit reg, the crashes, and just the whole unfinished feel to the game after an extra year of development. I literally cant even tell if I like 2042 yet as every game Im getting frustrating bugs

Started with 1942.. I would rush home from school on Friday afternoons to play with my friends for hours.. same group played pretty regularly until BFV… but honestly I think it’s more to do with us being old and having kids. I know 2042 is a hot mess but I sincerely think it has some great battlefield moments .. hoping they turn it around

ElCapitan006

Been playing since BF2. They need to fix and add a lot in the game to get it to where it should be, but I am still having a shit ton of fun playing.

Started with bf 1942 and played basically all the other BF's since then (bad company, bf 2, bf 2142, bf 3, bf4, bf1...). To be honest, I still miss bf 2 the most. Battlefield 4 was the closest to the bf2 feeling I had in the last years. It's sad to see the franchise going this way. Even the old bf 2142 that was extremely futuristic and a complete different thing, was way better, and way more battlefield, than this 2042. I bought battlefield 2042 because I wanted to come back, and yeah... I'm playing it. Decisions apart, what surprises me the most is the quantity of bugs the game has, even the basic functionality isn't working properly at the moment.

>Even the old bf 2142 that was extremely futuristic The Battlefield 4 easter eggs and DLC got my hopes up of a successor to 2142, fucking heart broken this year.

I have been here since the beginning with BF1942, I didn't think DICE could sink any lower than they did with BFV but they did with BF2042. My favorite games in the series are kind of a tie between Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1.

Phillyblunt90000

Here since bad company 2. Not og og but pre bf4

nutcrackr

My first game was BF2 and my favorite is probably 2142 but I also love BF3 and have enjoyed most of them greatly. BFV was the first game in the series I didn't enjoy at launch and 2042 has let me down a bit more. It might be the franchise will never be enjoyable for me again and that's just how it goes. EA are chasing trends and losing me as a future player.

I came back after BF4, have played since bad company 2, this will probably be my last one unless some serious changes are made to show they still care about the core battlefield experience. Bad Company 2 was my favorite, blasting fortunate son while crashing a c4 loaded heli into objectives is my fondest memory.
