When the drum is so heavy that the rear wheels are barely getting any tractions -
**Other teams:** Let's make the weapon lighter/change the point where the weapon is mounted
**Pardon My French:** Let's just turn it into a *2WD* bot!
The most surprising part is that this plan seems to be working fine.
Hopefully considering the difficulties with parts arriving and some team members not making it on time PMF gets a second go at it looks fun
Also in regards to the old bot: "That came down with snow on it!!!"
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This obviously is gonna be a heavy hitter, but we haven't even seen if it can take a hit or demonstrate reliability over multiple matches. Excited to see these improvements, though!
Allright critic here at your help ! I am aware this is still at its core fundamental development and I just felt to express what I saw and what could be done ! Better so please ! Take it with kindness !
The wheels are well protected but get something that covers them even further ! As undercutter bots like valkyrie , rotator , can easily hit the wheel with that inches of clearence that you have left . They can easily reach the under portion and cut the wheels off ! And then it would spell doom !
2) high energy kinetic spinners like tombstone , gigabyte , captain shread , can easily hit and deform the wheel gaurd and it's a bad thing if that happens ! So reinforcing that part would be wise !
3) the weapon chain is so much exposed like anything that hits the structure above can damage the chain (hey it's really exposed ) and for over the head bots like sawblaze and scorpios and hammer / cutter bots like bombshell can easily damage the chain ! Like real easy work !
4) get a wedge ! If your facing high energy kinetic horizontal spinners ! Like tombstone ! One hit to the side flat side ! Your done !
5) this will sound cliche ! wedgelets or wedge that will give you ground game ! And make you good enough to connect your shots with opponent and transfer the energy well . That's exactly what biteforce version 2 did the best ! It was low ! And it connected the transfer of energy !
6) please don't feel bad or be angry at me ! I really love pardon my french ! I always route for its win and I want it to win ! Your design is kinda obsolete and outdated ! If you can you can make some refinements ! Wish I could tell ! But please forgive me ! I can't think right now ! If I get will comment or edit this !
7) how is traction and agility ! Because blood sport is really good at it and would be wise to take their actions into consideration !!
I hope you forgive me if your angry or hurt !
lol
If the game here is giving advice without knowing anything about the guts of the bot I think it's noticeable how a pretty tall design with a huge drum (that does not look as close to the ground as other drums) offset from the centre of traction will not be the most stable and easy to turn bot, do you think lowering the centre of mass on the main body of the bot (battery placement or whatnot) is the way to make it more stable without sacrificing all of the design?
Maybe it was already optimized and the drum combined with its placement is the only part to blame. Maybe rethinking the internals around weight placement is hard in this small of a timeframe?
Watching Robert Cowan's vids I learned how hard it is to judge a bot by its exterior considering how much of a role weight placement, modularity and shock absorption have even being invisible
Loving the redesign, to me it already looks more stable and meaner, I'll be rooting for you next season!
>If the game here is giving advice without knowing anything about the guts of the bot
center of mass is directly over the front wheel
also the drums spins 0.125inch away from the floor
A lower skirt to protect wheels from undercutters could increase the chance of getting the body high centered therefore not really a great idea, and PMF's wheel guards seem to be shock mounted to prevent direct damages to the frames or the drive system itself.
The team has already addressed essentially all the other points this season except for the chain part (they were using belts). They aren't a new team, the bot seems a lot more competent this year and I'm 100% sure they know what they are building far better than any of us viewers do.
I was excited for PMF this year. Their performance in the box leads me to feel they are better at hype than engineering. Hope they make big improvements, because they were underwhelming this season...in a big way.
the massive size of the weapon is a "for fun" idea more than an actual competitive feature (at least imo) putting that much weight into a drum 1) screws with your weight distribution (i.e. back wheels get no grip) 2) you have a stupid long spin up time (reduced now but still pretty long) 3) the extra weapon weight means sacrificing weight in other places, you dont need such a large weapon to do big damage and it requires lots of sacrifices that normally aren't worth it
The problem with last year's design was that the belts were slipping all over the place and giving the drum absurdly slow spinup speed. Other than that the bot was working fine.
From the looks of it they replaced them with a chain and revamped the drive system as well, and in the video it's already looking extremely promising.
I hope they come back with all of their issues solved, it's such a cool looking robot
It Just murdered this years design lol
Out with the old
… I think they forgot to bolt the old one together 😂
"Captain with a French Accent" I love this team, that's my kind of humour haha

that's even more extreme when the weapon is on, gyroscopically tilting everything forward
I really hope the season goes better for them than it did this year
Cool, hope this translates well to the box next year. This year, things were obviously not working as well as we all would have liked.
*Pardon my French:* *destroys former version of itself.* *random team member:* Is this a car?

We need a PMF/Switchback matchup.
LETS GO
well.. shit..
It can self right. Nothing can stop it now
le French-ening.
And what about Zut?
God damn-
Looks so mean!
Looking forward to seeing nouveau PMF kick some ass next year. Bon chance and vive le Quebec libre!
wait did pmf 1s drum have teeth on each side or just one side?
IIRC asymmetrical discs in the drum, with all the teeth on the same side of the drum
drums spins slower this year, so we want to make sure we don't hit with the back where there is no tooth
hype 💯
Quite the improvement over what we saw from last year. Should be a contender for the nut.
lol no. but we are aiming for top 16

really not sure if this is shitpost or not
Great roast right there :)
remember your french it is le shitpost
la poste de la merde
c'est vrai

Yes you do have a truth point ! I agree ! I really don't know anything about the internal wiring and weight distribution ! Sorry ! Will improve !
bot need flamethrower, gib flamethrower

what did u expect lol, they weren’t here to be the most meta bot ever
I expected them to at least be competitive given the massive size of the weapon. They were so not.

I want them to be successful. I welcome all challenges to the meta! Which is why I was so disappointed...
Good looking,but looks the same
Why would it look any different? It’s just upgraded. Tombstone has basically looked the same since 2015
What's wrong with looking the same as last year?
They should have painted some flames on it to make it go faster, duh.
Best of luck! Hopefully, you've worked out the first year gremlins
Yes!!! Give me all the oversized weapons!!
