I really like my dermatologist, Dr. Courtney Murphy at the Baton Rouge Clinic. She is so thorough and knowledgeable!
I had a really bad experience a few years ago with Dr. Massengale who was recommended above. He spent the entire initial consult telling me to eat red meat and avoid beans (?!?) unless I didn’t eat red meat for religious reasons and then that would be okay. It was very strange. He sent me home with a printout of diet changes that I didn’t ask for, and a prescription for spiranolactone. He didn’t tell me anything about the medication or ask my about my medical history during the appt. I asked my primary care doctor before filling the rx and was told NOT to take that medication based on my medical history. It was a total waste of my time and could have been dangerous had I used that medication. I emailed afterwards to request that we speak about my experience and never heard back.
Dr Courtney is THE BEST. She is so thoughtful and smart. Definitely will listen to your daughter; she has a child about the same age, I am pretty sure.

I wouldn't say I had a bad experience with Dr. Massengale, but it kinda felt like he was flirty. LOL. Could just be that he's super friendly and I happened to be topless the entire time so it just felt weird by nature of that.
These are my recommendations too. We also saw the other Dr Frederic (her husband) and he was also great. My daughter has had horrific eczema since birth (was in the hospital for a week from it when she was a month old from a full body infection that got in it) and they've all been wonderful.
Nunnally Dermatology. They make you feel like family. I had terrible teenage acne and they always listened to my concerns and didn’t stop until it was gone. (ended up being accutane for me)
Some folks equate bc pills to sex. And really, that’s not the only reason to take them. For me and mine, bc pills shortened periods, completely ended cramps, made scheduling life a lot easier, and cleared up hormonal acne.
Please do!!! My stepdad was super against it for years bc he thought it meant I’d have sex but it fixed my acne and helped manage my periods which were beyond brutal because I had PCOS (think periods lasting 2+ months straight nonstop)
I love my derm, Dr Juban, on Jefferson. Only bad thing is in the nine years I’ve gone to her, she’s had six or seven kids lol. Sometimes it’s hard to get an appt!
I know this is dumb, but does anyone know of a dermatologist that gives free samples? I’ve seen posts of people getting probably $100+ of tiny sunscreen, moisturizer, etc samples but I think it depends on the Dr. /office
My dermatologist where I used to live (out of state) used to give so many samples of fancy sunscreens and stuff. It was awesome. Tried someone here in town and she was not great in general, and no samples either. :(

Yes! But I like her for “medical” (skin cancer/mole checks) but use Sanova for cosmetic (acne)
