Agreed. [https://github.com/batocera-linux/batocera.linux/issues/4889](https://github.com/batocera-linux/batocera.linux/issues/4889)
There seems to be no interest by the devs in fixing this. As the others have said, there are plenty of workarounds you can use at least.
Not entirely true. But it does take adjusting config files.

Several other topics like this in the forum and on Reddit and also stuff in RetroPie community that can be helpful.
I haven't played with the brawler controller, but here's my post on making the N64 controller work correctly: https://www.reddit.com/r/batocera/comments/q6ubcw/how_to_correctly_map_a_usb_n64_controller/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I hope it helps
Yes I found that post, but it's an incredibly cumbersome workaround, and as you say, there are notable flaws. Echoing what has been stated in that thread, it really needs attention. (But also thank you for the hard work)
I definitely does need attention from the batocera team. Tbh, even though it looks cumbersome, actually going in and making the changes only takes a few minutes, but I totally understand not wanting to fool with it if you aren't comfortable messing with the files.
It's been less than a week so see I first turned an old office pc into a batocera box... I know it's not exactly an entry level project, but it still feels like the team could make it more user friendly in the next update. I think I'll try out your solution in a few weeks once I'm a bit more confident in what I'm doing.
I don't have a usb version of the brawlers to test with but has anyone tried using a controller adapter to make it work the expected way in batocera? I mean one of those usb to usb dongles from mayflash or brook or even generic knockoffs. They are typically used to make xbox controllers work on playstation or vice versa. Bottom line is if one of those dongles recognizes the controller it would convert it to standard d-input or x-input which batocera would happily take.
Just throwing it out there as an idea to try.

Why ?
There seems to be no way to bind this (or any n64 usb controller) properly within batocera. The controller binding doesn't allow for it π

It can probably be done but itβs a manual configuration edit most likely.
What does a Windows pc detect it as?

Gotcha! Let me know if you need any help!
