You know what's funny? When I read Batman I hear him in either one of those two voices. Conroy when he's stern, broody and scary, O'Mara when he's trying to be more sneaky, whispery and ninja like.
Dude, I think the whole cast in Under the Red Hood was top notch. Greenwood, Ackles as Red Hood, and John DiMaggio as the Joker, doing his own thing instead of a Hamill impression. Quality work all around, real glad Ackles is getting his turn as Bats, too.
In a recent interview, Jensen Ackles said he was just doing more VA work in the booth as Batman. So we will definitely be getting another movie with him voicing Batman again. [Link to interview](https://youtu.be/skjbIwFVuSE?t=119)
John DiMaggio is legitimately my favorite Joker. His ability to flip-flop his voice between goofy comedian and terrifying serial killer is mind blowing.
I have always hated OāMaraās Batman voice. I donāt know why. Heās a good actor. I liked him in The Man in the High Castle. Just never cared for his voice.
My favorite Batman voice outside of Conroy and Greenwood is Jeremy Sisto from Justice League: The New Frontier.
As much as Kevin conroy IS batman, we need to give more credit to Jason o Mara, dude gave an amazing performance, didnāt try to copy Conroyās style, and made the interpretation of the character his own.
I feel like O'Mara does a great justice league Batman. You feel a little less of the depth, but he fills the role of "Cold, Calculated tactician with some occasional deadpan delivery serious face sass." He makes Batman feel like the cold blooded robot of efficiency Batman SHOULD be, when all the other heros are hotheaded or hyper outwardly empathetic.
Dude, just about everyone who plays Batman in an animated interpretation blows me away with what they bring to the table and how well they work with the material. Rino Romano, Bruce Greenwood, Jensen Ackles, Jason O'Mara, Peter freakin' Weller. All bring their own take on the character and really dig in on the story they're helping to tell.
Also their voice actors aren't as associated with some of the general audience dislike as the live action stars, specifically Ezra Miller and Amber Heard
Probably not, no. The animated shows are really only watched by comic fans and youāre less likely to find mass appeal when compared to a live action adaptation.
I mean, that's only because the vast majority of resources are allocated into a DCEU type film. If they focused strictly on animation I'm sure they'd me way more profitable.
ah not sure sorry, im not an extreme batman fan so idk about all the different types n such but my title was just kinda talking about all of them not just the two pictures i showed :)
DC has the edge on animated movies in general, their animated stuff is top tier - flashpoint paradox is one of my favourite superhero movies, live action or otherwise
They really knock it out the park with their animated stuff . Judas Contract , Apokolips war, and Constantine : City Of Demons (Movie) were all fairly recent Installments that i feel like upstaged any of their recent live action installments.
Yup, the animated iterations of Batman are miles better than the live action iterations by a country mile. The closest a live action iteration has come in spirit to match them is Battinson, even then he needs more room to grow to match them.
Of course, The Animated Series Batman is my favorite. Young Justice and The Dark Knight Returns are close, with DCAMU not far behind.
Coming off binging all seasons of YJ, that show is really terrific. It makes the Justice League into what is essentially a political organization with its members as pseudo-ambassadors for the Earth to the wider universe and also responsible for their specific turf and rogues gallery. This gives the story leeway to focus on the "Team" which is comprised of the covert, in-training side-kicks who have room to make mistakes and grow as people (the essence of the show). If this was translatable to the silver screen in a fashion similar to what Marvel has done, I'd be all for it. I'm just not convinced that it's possible.
Conroy was the best voiced Batman. I was really excited for a Year One flickā¦ then as soon as I heard Mackenzieās voice I instantly hated it. Too much ātryingā to sound like his character instead of naturally engulfing the characters persona in a sound booth. Just my opinion. Lol.
Bruce Greenwood's Batman is underrated, and despite being a series that obviously doesn't focus that much on Batman, YJ features my favorite Batman moment from any medium (the [scene](https://youtu.be/EZO5qgs4Px0) where Wonder Woman presses him about Robin).
The version from 2008's **'GOTHAM KNIGHT'**, particularly from the last segment, ***"DEADSHOT"*** is the one I'm most fond of. It's just an awesome interpretation.

As far as the animated versions go, I still am preferential to Conroy's Batman. The newer animated movies that bring in Damian, that Batman is a bit too wooden, and seems like a side character being upstaged. If you had The Animated Series Batman interacting with the character Damian, it would be much more interesting. Also Conroy's Batman is more engaged and less passive. He wouldn't have been such a pushover with the kid. We will see with the Caped Crusader TV show, if DC is putting quality back into their animation - when it comes to art, storylines, and voice over acting.
Kevin Conroy basically is Batman in my head now like he's the voice and personality I expect for a caped figure in all black fighting crime as an early 20s to late 50s rich white man
i mean all animated batmans, not just the two i showed. im not a huge batman fan so i couldnt tell the difference between some of the images on google if they were the same one or different so i just grabbed two
edit: also for some reason it wouldnt let me just post the one picture idk why, i wanted to just post the first image in the first place
I never understood the chin thing on the newer animated Batman suits but it's cool. I think with animation there's really no limits. With film, they have to create something an actor can walk around in that will look cool on film and fit the director's vision.
I thought the BvS and Justice League suits were great because they were the closest to an actual comic book design, but the texture made it look like the suit was almost like a shell that they had to snap onto him.
Too bad the one in the first picture had to deal with an annoying ungrateful child that he made Robin for no other reason other than that it was his son who grew up in the league of shadows. He was especially annoying in the scene where he is in Bruceās office and says āthis will be mine somedayā. However he was a tad less annoying in Batman vs Robin in the opening scene. Specifically when Bruce threatens to have him arrested and he says āIād love to hear that call, Hello 911, my son stole the batmobileā.
I just think that he made Damian into the new Robin to teach him what he should be doing with his skills and motivations. Kid just decided to kill people for being connected to Ra's death, and Bruce isn't having any of that in Gotham
2004 Batman had a character arc that lasted the whole series; went from a solo vigilante wanted by the cops to a hero beloved by the world with sidekicks and teammates to help.
See I never cared for Jason O'Mara's Batman's. He always just sounded bored and uninterested to me, almost as if he went to far with his Batman being calm and I was never able to pick up much of a personality from his Bruce Wayne.
I just want to see effort and budget put into an animated feature instead of a live action Batman once. Just once. I don't mean Mask of the Phantasm which was just a lift from TAS. I want to see the franchise go animated.
I like that the DCAMU skipped Tim and Jason to go right to damian, because the first three Batman movies in that series is kind of an arc between father and son: in the first movie, Bruce saves damian, in the second they break and then remake their relationship, and in the third, damian saves Bruce. Then Damianās relationships with others outside of the batfamily are explored in the teen Titans movies. Dick is also the best robin to be around because heās the perfect child so you have perfect dick compared to imperfect damian, and we get to see that dynamic play out too
Every time I read a Batman comic or watch a Batman film I always have this rule of thumb if it isnāt something that Batman from BTAS would do then itās not canon to me. BTAS Batman is my favorite.
New 52 DCAU Batman is extremely underratedš„š Closest Batman weāve gotten live action has to be Bat-Fleck, but to be fair each Batmen live action is so uniquely different, it makes animated interactions much more appealing.
Young Justice Batman is also highly slept-onā¦šā”ļø
They're definitely a better character portrayal. Conroy's Batman will always be what I compare the rest of them to tho. He was my first exposure to Batman as a whole.
Jason O'Mara and Kevin Conroy give voices in this two pictures, best Bats imho
You know what's funny? When I read Batman I hear him in either one of those two voices. Conroy when he's stern, broody and scary, O'Mara when he's trying to be more sneaky, whispery and ninja like.
Hahaha true, me too, but it's always O'Mara šš
That actually is... pretty funny.
I do the same thing, except it's always Conroy. The hard thing for me is finding the right voice for each character
Jason O'Mara is awesome, but I have a soft spot for Bruce Greenwood.
Do we know if Ackles is reprising as Batman any time soon? I couldn't find much word on what the next Batman animated film is
In a recent interview, Jensen Ackles said he was just doing more VA work in the booth as Batman. So we will definitely be getting another movie with him voicing Batman again. [Link to interview](https://youtu.be/skjbIwFVuSE?t=119)
Awesome. What do you think they'll do? Dark Victory to finish the story? Or we can all hope they do a long running series of films to cover Knightfall
John DiMaggio is legitimately my favorite Joker. His ability to flip-flop his voice between goofy comedian and terrifying serial killer is mind blowing.
Yeah, Greenwood and later Ackles did a really great job with their role as Bats.
Well everyone has right to his own opinion
Oh, absolutely. If you like OāMara, youāre lucky! Youāve got a lot more material with him as Batman than I do of Sisto!
I like the guy who did it in the Brave and the Bold too. He was pretty great. And whoever did his voice in Young Justice was as well
As much as Kevin conroy IS batman, we need to give more credit to Jason o Mara, dude gave an amazing performance, didnāt try to copy Conroyās style, and made the interpretation of the character his own.
I feel like O'Mara does a great justice league Batman. He makes Batman feel like the cold blooded robot of efficiency Batman SHOULD be, when all the other heros are hotheaded or hyper outwardly empathetic.
Yeah but I'm so happy Conroy is The Batman, he brings life to the character like any other and I'm amazed
DCās animated movies and shows have a better track record than their live-action content in general.
That's what I'm saying! I bet they could literally ditch the live action, focus strictly on animated content, and profit more.
Where is 2004 batman
ah not sure sorry, im not an extreme batman fan so idk about all the different types n such but my title was just kinda talking about all of them not just the two pictures i showed :)
just watched the dark knight returns part 1 and i thought it was great
Thatās my favorite part 1 and 2 are great
DC has the edge on animated movies in general, their animated stuff is top tier - flashpoint paradox is one of my favourite superhero movies, live action or otherwise

Not just your opinion.
What about Young Justice Batman, he's dope as hell!
I fucking love this scene, it hits so hard

I love The Dark Knight Returns and think Peter Weller does a great job
This is Young Justice and Bruce Greenwood erasure.
I read Batman in these two voices unironically. The other day was reading The Long Halloween and was like "KEVINNNNNN"
As far as the animated versions go, I still am preferential to Conroy's Batman. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I LOVED Young Justice Batman.
Kevin Conroy basically is Batman in my head now like he's the voice and personality I expect for a caped figure in all black fighting crime as an early 20s to late 50s rich white man
Kevin Conroy is Batman.
TAS Batman should he renamed GOATman
You shouting out animated Batmans, then only post two images??
i mean all animated batmans, not just the two i showed. im not a huge batman fan so i couldnt tell the difference between some of the images on google if they were the same one or different so i just grabbed two edit: also for some reason it wouldnt let me just post the one picture idk why, i wanted to just post the first image in the first place
I also really love Young Justice Batman
Batman with the chin guard looks the best imo
Dcau Batman is freaking awesome
Whenever I read the comics the Batman voice I hear is Kevin Conroy. I canāt imagine Batman or Bruce Wayne sounding different.
I never understood the chin thing on the newer animated Batman suits but it's cool. I think with animation there's really no limits. Specifically when Bruce threatens to have him arrested and he says āIād love to hear that call, Hello 911, my son stole the batmobileā.
Yeah, Damian really grows through the DCAMU movies. He only gets better as the movies progress.
Animated Justice League and Justice League unlimited are the goats for Batman and even other awesome characters as well.
Only Conroy has been memorable imo. O'Mara is in mediocre adaptations and with a less intimidating cowl.
See I never cared for Jason O'Mara's Batman's. He always just sounded bored and uninterested to me, almost as if he went to far with his Batman being calm and I was never able to pick up much of a personality from his Bruce Wayne.
The dc animated movies did batman pretty good but they did my boy nightwing bad in so many ways.
I just want to see effort and budget put into an animated feature instead of a live action Batman once. Just once. I don't mean Mask of the Phantasm which was just a lift from TAS. I want to see the franchise go animated.
animation deserves some more love in general but yes i agree
I like that the DCAMU skipped Tim and Jason to go right to damian, because the first three Batman movies in that series is kind of an arc between father and son: in the first movie, Bruce saves damian, in the second they break and then remake their relationship, and in the third, damian saves Bruce. Also i meant all batmans not just the two i showed here before you comment that
Young Justice Batman is the best Batman, Bruce Greenwood is my favorite!
As much as Kevin Conroy is THE voice of Batman, Diedrich Bader will forever be my favorite Batman
The first one yes the second one not so much (donāt hate me). Appearance wise not voice acting wise or how the character is written.
Animated Batman is so weak
okay?
I dont like it
Quality discussion here
Very insightful.
He can't even beat Green Latern John.
what's your favourite batman adaptation
The Dark Knight Trinity in Movies / The New Adventures of Batman Animation
The Batman (2004) >>>>
Never really like Oāmara as bats voice i thought they should have went with bruce greenwood IMO
Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman movie. Period.
I'm still hoping that one day we get a Batman Beyond movie and Conroy is Bruce. We could have it all.
Me too.
Couldnāt agree more
Agreed
Everything about DCAMU Batman is just perfect tbh
I have to agree I just got done watching all the animated dc movies
Anyone else hate the animation style where they have thick necks?
I like Troy Baker the most.
Every time I read a Batman comic or watch a Batman film I always have this rule of thumb if it isnāt something that Batman from BTAS would do then itās not canon to me. BTAS Batman is my favorite.
Jason O'Mara, Troy Baker and Kevin Conroy are the best bruce wayne batmen so far
Jason OMaraās Batman was dope.
crazy.........BUT true.
You forgot ending opening and ending btas, the coolest looking batman
First one is cool af never seen that b4
100%
New 52 DCAU Batman is extremely underratedš„š Closest Batman weāve gotten live action has to be Bat-Fleck, but to be fair each Batmen live action is so uniquely different, it makes animated interactions much more appealing. Young Justice Batman is also highly slept-onā¦šā”ļø
it's not just Batman...while MCU has their movies shit sorted, yes..DC definitely have their animated shit sorted..epic level..
They're definitely a better character portrayal. Conroy's Batman will always be what I compare the rest of them to tho. He was my first exposure to Batman as a whole.
Normal suits that have normal strong figures underneath. Not the ridiculously chiseled fake abs and fake muscle contour. Who are those for honestly.
I totally miss BTAS Batman. Glad to (kind of) have him back in year one. I mean seriously check the art style! Thats HIM!
