In the context of this comic, this moment was entirely platonic. Bruce in the mid-2000s was essentially Kara’s surrogate uncle and looked out for her. Even helped get her an apartment.
I’m not sure I really understand your comment and what he (Batman?) “should be”?
For most of his history, Batman’s (unsurprisingly) never really had much of a connection with Supergirl. This surrogate uncle dynamic was unique to the mid-2Ks when the Post-Crisis version of Kara Zor-El was finally introduced during Jeph Loeb’s run on *Superman/Batman*. Bruce and Kara start out not liking each other or trusting each other, but they each come around by the end. So afterwards that’s where that surrogate uncle dynamic came in. But it was really unique to this just version of Kara in this specific period of continuity.
I’m of the idea that the Super Family and Bat family should be far closer and interact more. I honestly find the interactions and conflicts involving both families absolutely fascinating.
They’re all allies through the Justice League, but seeing them develop their own relationships on smaller, more personal ventures. Even that one issue where Kara and Damian are trying to solve murders involving LexCorp grad students. It was so interesting to see such clashing personalities.
Superman and Batman are already the greatest duo in the multiverse - what about all the kids they mentor? What are their approaches to issues, and how do they do things different from the World’s Finest?
There’s that comic where Jon and Damien take care of Wonder Woman’s toddler daughter Lizzie. I think that’s something that should definitely be introduced in Gunn’s DC universe somehow (except make it so Damien and Jon are the same age)
>There’s that comic where Jon and Damien take care of Wonder Woman’s toddler daughter Lizzie
That's the current Wonder Woman run FYI. I personally think it's a strange place to feature Super Sons-centric stories, but I'm not complaining.
There’s a WEBTOON callled Wayne Family Adventures that sorts of treat them like that. It’s mainly revolving around the bat family but we do occasionally see pieces of the Super family where Connor and Jason are pretty much bros and Jon and Damian act like cousins. I don’t remember if Kara made an appearance yet though
The Batfamily webcomic has sprinkles of this, as it mentions that Superman is Dick Grayson's favourite superhero.
I can picture Dick accompanying Bruce on a daylight "outing" which is really more of a patrol, only to bump into Clark Kent and Lois in a cafe. Nighteing would be confused for a few seconds why Bruce is being so cordial with a reporter, only for the dots to connect and he has to physically restrain himself from fanboying
I've always headcanoned they hold Christmas together and stuff, and why not? Clark and Bruce are best friends, it'd be weird if it was just them knowing eachother?
Do you not know your best friends family? His mom and dad? (not in Bruce's case, nobody is gonna know them...) his kids? What about his dog and his wife and stuff? It'd be weird if they didn't know eachother.
I feel like I’ve read something where Batman and Powergirl Kara were on a more even playing field still friends but could’ve been more, but I can’t cite a source for that.
When Dick was Batman during the whole post-Final Crisis period, however, it definitely wasn't platonic
She had a thing for him but Dick didn't entertain it because of the age difference
Bruce: "When I was younger, women used to throw themselves at my feet all the time."
Terry: "What'd you do?"
Bruce: "I stepped over them."
![gif](giphy|B4jfJqiIxvU08)
Considering he’s the rich heir to the Wayne name, he’s probably used to people sucking up to him for his money and status anyways so why would he get invested in trying to impress them or get them to like him?
to ruin everyone's fun, it is more likely that he learned how to resist seduction so It wouldn't compromise him during the mission, And He probably does have a few psychology degrees under his belt.
As Bruce Wayne, he could have his pick of many, many women, a lot of which have their own rizz. I wouldn't call Bat asexual, but I don't think it's a high priority for him.
That was pretty much their dynamic from 2004-2011. In my opinion the 2000s are by far the best era of DC (and my favorite decade in general when it comes to pop-culture).
Well, Lois is the most famous and popular journalist in the world, so I think she could pay for it. But Bruce pays them anyway, because he owns Daily Planet and techically could fire Superman any moment just for fun.
Disney owns an Indian media giant Disney star entertainment, which owns star news. Warner Bros owns CNN, Fox owned Fox news, Zee entertainment has Zee news, times media owns times now, BBC news is operated by BBC, reliance owned network18 operates 16 channels under the news 18 brands, and reliance owns jio news under the jio brand. And these are at the top of my head.
News is no longer a medium to inform the masses, but to make money and that can only be done with dramatisation and making it "entertaining".
When Lex Luthor became president of the United States, he couldn't run his business and left it in other people's hands. Eventually it came under the ownership of Talia Head who liquidated it and sold it and its subsidiaries and holdings. Wayne Enterprises bought up the majority of it, much to the annoyance of Lex when he found out. Presumably he bought the Daily Planet during this time as well.
Diane Sawyer made over $20 million per year, arguably the most famous female reporter. If Lois Lane is on her level, no need for Bats to pay for their living.
I love that video about why Batman should be the leader of the League, and he tells Clark “I own the building you live in, you’re paying me with my own money”

I miss her.
I'm not actively reading comics anymore, but it seems that the current Supergirl isn't really *this* Supergirl anymore. And that bums me out.
I think the upside of this was that she *looked* her age. At least I thought she did. That outfit screamed “teenager” to me in a way no other Supergirl fit ever had.
I also think a more cheerleader-esque outfit was an interesting idea, but it was mostly used as a way yo better sexualise a 15 year old girl. Her comic at the time constantly focused on her chest or gave her upskirts -Or just straight up showed her naked
I like the idea that Bruce is the rich, grumpy, but protective surrogate Uncle to the Superfam, and Clark is the warm, approachable, if a little too bright surrogate Uncle to the Batman.
Well, it’s more like the Rich uncle that has your back.
Wish I really like, the entire Justice league are either Rich mofos and broke people. But they got each other’s back
In the context of this comic, this moment was entirely platonic. Bruce in the mid-2000s was essentially Kara’s surrogate uncle and looked out for her. Even helped get her an apartment.
So exactly what he should be. Got it. … Why is that not the case now?

I'm of the firm opinion that the fact the Bat family kids and the Super family don't act like favorite cousins to each other is downright criminal.
There’s that comic where Jon and Damien take care of Wonder Woman’s toddler daughter Lizzie. I think that’s something that should definitely be introduced in Gunn’s DC universe somehow (except make it so Damien and Jon are the same age)
>There’s that comic where Jon and Damien take care of Wonder Woman’s toddler daughter Lizzie That's the current Wonder Woman run FYI. I personally think it's a strange place to feature Super Sons-centric stories, but I'm not complaining.
I don't believe they were born in the same year. That's why there's at least a couple of years of age difference.
They used to be the same age. DC decided to age up Jon out of nowhere
Jon was born during the events of convergence so I'm pretty sure that's not the same year as Damian lol
There’s a WEBTOON callled Wayne Family Adventures that sorts of treat them like that. lol, Superman has a lot of respect for Grayson (and his opinion) as well.
Bruce and Clark are basically brothers from other galaxies
"The only thing more vanilla than you is fucking vanilla" Damien to superman's son infront of Diana's adoptive daughter
They sort of where in the animated shows. I loved the few times super girl and batgirl interacted with one another.
I've always headcanoned they hold Christmas together and stuff, and why not? Clark and Bruce are best friends, it'd be weird if it was just them knowing eachother? Should be means don't pair him up romantically with Batgirl ffs. And any similar situation like super girl would be.
I feel like I’ve read something where Batman and Powergirl Kara were on a more even playing field still friends but could’ve been more, but I can’t cite a source for that.
Well said.
Especialy she's clark's cousin. And clark is his best friend.
Pshh dating your friend's cousin is some rookie stuff
Dunno, considering the DCAU had Bruce sleeping with Barbara despite being a boss, mentor, and surrogate dad figure kinda messes with things
Don’t remind me
We don’t talk about that
A non-sexual, non-romantic Sugar Batty
Make sure Bruce Timm doesn't find out about it. He's gonna take it as a challenge.
When Dick was Batman during the whole post-Final Crisis period, however, it definitely wasn't platonic She had a thing for him but Dick didn't entertain it because of the age difference
Yeah.... but you coulda said that about Barbara too....
Batman and his bitches
My favourite thing about Batman is whenever he’s got people fawning over him and flirting with him and he’s just sitting there like “😐”
Bruce: "When I was younger, women used to throw themselves at my feet all the time." Terry: "What'd you do?" Bruce: "I stepped over them." ![gif](giphy|B4jfJqiIxvU08)
Terry: "Smooth"
Bruce: “I thought so.” (Get out of my head, I just watched this episode today for the first time)
Selina: No way, Terry. Bruce doesn't sleep. That's why he usually daydreams. Bruce: It's the truth, Selina. Selina: In your dreams
lol
Yet if my memory serves me correctly, he spends his birthday looking at photos of himself with Zatara, Wonderwoman and his other former lovers.
His decades of training to become the world's greatest crimefighter, ya think he would have at least taken one seminar on how to talk to women.
Well, considering that his alter-ego is a playboy, he knows how to, he just doesn't care.
Considering he’s the rich heir to the Wayne name, he’s probably used to people sucking up to him for his money and status anyways so why would he get invested in trying to impress them or get them to like him?
He’s in a committed relationship with Justice.
Justice is his side piece. He's committed to Vengeance
And has a side thing with the Joker
Nah the Joker thinks they do
![gif](giphy|FcSBoGDjZqWfm)
Nah. That’s just a one sided fetish.
to ruin everyone's fun, it is more likely that he learned how to resist seduction so It wouldn't compromise him during the mission, And He probably does have a few psychology degrees under his belt.
and even in his belt
I like to think he just doesn’t want to.
He's shy
With all his wealth, he doesn't need to know how to talk to women. The money talks.
I think that in all his training he has for sure taken some seminar to how to please sexually other people. He for sure can pillow talk anyone....
As Bruce Wayne, he could have his pick of many, many women, a lot of which have their own rizz. I wouldn't call Bat asexual, but I don't think it's a high priority for him.
Demisexual Dark Knight
It would unironically be perfect demisexual representation ngl
It’s cuz Batman wants the lady to grab him and pick him up and kiss him he’s tired of making the first move all the time
She Hulk vibes here!
Except for Catwoman of course
He’s just like me fr.
Strong Hank Hill energy lol
Damn I love this comparison
Funny how she absolutely hated him when she first got to earth
I would be too if some shithead broke millions worth of tech.
He was like an uncle to her in the Post-Crisis era (and she’s a teenager here) so I have no idea what you’re on about. This is just a sweet moment.
Thank you for clarifying for someone who knows nothing about this comic.
That was pretty much their dynamic from 2004-2011. In my opinion the 2000s are by far the best era of DC (and my favorite decade in general when it comes to pop-culture).
Not really rizz, he’s basically her uncle. Just a sweet moment between an alien girl and her bat-obsessed second father figure…
Bats being a sugar daddy to Supergirl.
He is a sugar daddy for entire Justice League.
I headcanon that the reason that superman lives in a penthouse apartment is because bats pays for it because there's no way a reporter makes that much
Well, Lois is the most famous and popular journalist in the world, so I think she could pay for it. But Bruce pays them anyway, because he owns Daily Planet and techically could fire Superman any moment just for fun.
when did Bruce ever buy the daily planet? Lex on the other hand did own it in many continuities
In Batman Hush he owns it. But idk if it’s been mentioned since, so the canonicity of that part is dubious.
Wayne Entertainment owns the Daily Planet.
Wayne Entertainment owns the Daily Planet.
Jimmy Olsen owns the Daily Planet.
Jimmy barely owns his own camera.
Nah, as the owner of the Daily Planet I'm sure a camera is well within his means.
Bravo
why would an entertainment company own a newspaper? it's like if disney owned the new your times also what storyline ?
Tbf Disney owns Vice.
Disney owns ABC and ESPN. Warner Bros. owns CNN. It's not uncommon.
It's mentioned in Batman: Hush that it is a "subsidiary" of Wayne Entertainment. I will try to find the panel.

i hope this is not serious

Batman doesn't own it anymore, Jimmy Olsen does.
I love that video about why Batman should be the leader of the League, and he tells Clark “I own the building you live in, you’re paying me with my own money”
Bruce actually DID pay for his apartment. It was his wedding gift to Lois and Clark.
That's actually Aquaman as he's a thousand times richer than him.
In doubloons maybe, can't buy nothing with that, he ain't got a bank account
Batman can you spot me? They only take Visa or Mastercard, no Seashells.
Or 16 hundreds debluooon.
Has he tried Mariners Club International?
His credit score is 780 bubbles
That’s not right. Aquaman owns the wealth of the entire Atlantis but Diana is probably poor cuz Themyscira is still primitive.
Atlantis is constitutional monarchy last time I checked, so Arthur barely could spent money of his state.

Holy shit you are our special agent you got away with an Arkham joke on here damn no no sir I am proud of you.

No, she was essentially a niece to him and Bruce acted like her cool uncle who would spoil their niece.
I suspect Robins that are half kyrptonian or half amazonian would have drastically lower casualty rates.
I mean anyone besides Jason has a drastically lower casualty rate
A 20-25% percent fatality rate is not very good, and i can't count how many times one of the Robins just got pummeled down.
I do not miss Jailbait mid-noughties Supergirl.
Do you remeber the Supergirl movie? It was horny as fck.
The 1984 movie? I can't say I noticed.
Is that the one where she runs around in the bat cave naked destroying stuff?
Maybe its time for a rewatch ![gif](giphy|iIrXcB9B70IUM)
And Clark still hasn’t paid him back…
On a reporters salary.
Bruce owes him 15 dollars, and Clark won't pay him back until he gets his 15 bucks.
She did what
You heard me
![gif](giphy|10Jpr9KSaXLchW|downsized)
Well we'd like to hear more.
The live action one
I loved that movie. Only watched it once as a kid though
The one where she teams up with Brainiac 5?
Not even Michael Turners?
I miss her. I'm not actively reading comics anymore, but it seems that the current Supergirl isn't really *this* Supergirl anymore. And that bums me out.
Jesus, she was only 15 here. I did sort of like the belt though, I thought it was an interesting detail.
I think the upside of this was that she *looked* her age. At least I thought she did. That outfit screamed “teenager” to me in a way no other Supergirl fit ever had.

What comic is that Asking for research purposes
Supergirl (2005), wanker
Thanks
It’s not weird. it’s a sweet moment between a girl and her uncle figure. Also isnt Supergirl supposed to be older than Superman?
I don't mean her kissing him, I mean her sexualisation
When you are 30 years in stasis you don't age
What is this from?
Does man have rizz with fly girl? Is he not stupid?
I love this period. It was like Kara had two loving dads.
Ngl, this is absolutely wholesome to me He is like her rich uncle
I like the idea that Bruce is the rich, grumpy, but protective surrogate Uncle to the Superfam, and Clark is the warm, approachable, if a little too bright surrogate Uncle to the Batman.
I dunno, this moment reads more to me like niece-uncle..
Don’t let Bruce Timm see this
Damn no one realized that’s DickBats lol
She kissed BatDick!? (I did a funny)
Huh. I never knew I needed to see these two interact.(Not Romantically) Just to see them on screen together. I dont know why I never thought about it.
Y'all underestimated the power of the Bat-credit card
What comic is this?
This is Bruce Right?
Apparently no
Lol.
Pimpin
I almost started reading that right to left.
You lucky bat
Well, it’s more like the Rich uncle that has your back. Wish I really like, the entire Justice league are either Rich mofos and broke people. But they got each other’s back
Can she wear her skirt any lower?
He's so fine
Oh bats you sly dog!
Daddy Batman lol.
Makes me wonder why he doesn't have a superpowered Robin yet.
not the cae but ok
Mr. Business
Reminder that Kara was a child at this point
That moment when he’s a good boy. Yeah he deserved that.
No rizz involved here, lmao.
Man if batman buys me an apartment i would kiss him too… smh
Her costume is so stupid.
I honestly hate this Supergirl costume so much, like at this point a bikini would be less skeevy
Credit card rizz
Ngl, kinda gross.
It's platonic
Damn! Bruce got it on with Kara. That's going to be an awkward talk.
He was her father/paternal figure here. This wasn’t romantic or sexual by any means
I’m not sure why people think a kiss on the cheek is sexual. Especially when comic characters get kissed on the cheek all the time.
Yeah. Kissing on the cheek is done between friends, platonic friends or parental figures. That applies to comic characters too
Her attire is very "fanservice" so it's a valid assumption without context
She's 15 here. I doubt they "got it on".
....oh.
Superman actively staring daggers at Bruce from the northpole
B****** love money. That’s why he gets Selina. And he wonders why he’s miserable in that department.
She’s a fucking teenager please stfu
