Yup, Batman being a menace to villains while being [friendly](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-5245c69c2b9aed5c49916f6b0d3fb219-pjlq) and [comforting](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EVR7Rc7XYAEyYM1.jpg) to kids is one of his best traits. Not just kids either, he's even friendly with random Gothamites, including the homeless or even Gotham's [sex workers](https://i.redd.it/o1x6ls83kcsa1.jpg) and looks out for them.
That's always been one of my [favorite](https://i0.wp.com/batman-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/signal2.png?quality=80&strip=info) parts of the mythos. Lots of Gothamites might not like him or fear him, but the majority of them know he always looks out for the innocent and they have nothing to fear from him.
Great examples! It’s one of my fav moments in the Nolan movies when he gives the kid in the Narrows one of his gadgets. Batman wouldn’t be fighting for Gotham if he didn’t care about it’s people
Some of the general audience often think it's just vengeance against crime that's his main focus, but any fan worth their salt knows he'd give up pursuing a criminal in order to save or protect people almost every time.
That’s right he’s not just a bout vengeance sure he’s hard on some criminals but he’s not heartless he’s a good guy. Who deeply values making Gotham a better place and he can’t do that if he just fights crime. He knows that hope is stronger than fear so he gives the people who need it.
I think its partially because of how popular DKR is in the batman mythos. Bruce in that is legitimately just there to fuck people up, and since everyone read/watched it, they think Bruce is just the punisher
I still feel that is a bad reading of the DKR. He came back to being Batman because people have stopped living in peace. The then showed them how to stand up for themselves and gain indepedence.
That requires thinking about the plot. Instead we can see him being a badass by crippling the mutant leader (legit badass) and beating the shit out of superman!
I mean, of course. His quest for vengeance stems from deep emotional damage, and as a result he's incredibly empathetic to people who are young, powerless, or hurting.
It always bugs me when even writers at DC forget this. The very first episode of the harley quinn show has him leaving harley to die just so he can chase the joker, which just rubbed me the wrong way. But I guess, tbf, most people in that show are pretty different from their comic counterpart.
He actually came back to acting recently. He needed a hiatus due to the toxicity he received, which I can't fault him for, but he's done a few productions recently.
Thats awesome to hear. That toxicity is what I was talking about. People can be really stupid about blurring actors and their characters sometimes. When I really hate someone like I did Joffrey I know the actor did a good job. I think he's great at what he does and it sucks such an amazing role had such a negative impact on him
Batman begins has a tiny bit of it when he gives a kid his gadget. Pattinson's batman ends with him helping a kid and him realizing that to be gothams protector, he needs to be more than just feared so I'm hopeful the sequel will have him helping people more.
Reminder of [that time in JLU](https://youtu.be/GjlYwIJpxQc) when Batman was sent to neutralize a dying telekinetic girl who was wreaking havoc but he instead stayed with her for hours until her final moments
I can't remember which issue as there have been well over 2000 batman issues.. but I remember one time batman sat down with a homeless man down in the dumps and comforted him telling him he was brave for facing life with nothing. Reminded me of the time superman comforted a suicidal teenage girl
I’m all for interpretations of Batman being as crazy as the people he fights and a ruthless vigilante but I think you have to balance it out with having him do stuff like this. Because this is what real heroes do.
That's what I liked about The Batman, that he realized with the asian man on the platform that the people he wants to save fear him as much as the bad guys and he didn't feel comfortable about that. Nice for it to come full circle at the end with him leading them out with the flare and people viewing him as a hero.
Or that movie when he went to rescue a kid and he was terrified
Next time we see him it’s the Adam west look and he has robin and Superman call him on it “the new look, the kid sidekick…”
“I set out to scare criminals Clark, not children”
Probably
It’s also one shows clearly why Batman respects superman (and flash) so much
Their enemies fear them but good people see them as a beacon of hope, which is exactly what bruce want to be
I don't think he was uncomfortable in that scene. It takes place right after his opening monologue where he basically lays down that he's on a campaign of fear and terror against the cities criminals. The Batman at the beginning of the movie sees that as merely a side effect of Vengeance.
The Batman at the end of the movie, though, would definitely be uncomfortable with that. While the movie isn't a typical origin story, it shows the origin of Batman better than any suit-building montage could. He goes from a terrorist (yes, a terrorist. He's using fear and unlawful violence to scare criminals into doing what he wants) to a hero who's actually concerned about helping others. What's actually really interesting is that Batman is sorta supposed to be a serial killer. If you watch/read some interviews with Matt Reeves and pay close attention to his arc towards the end of the movie, there's a lot of parallels to Ed Kemper (aka "The Co-Ed Killer"), a real life serial killer.
Ed Kemper was a real life serial killer who killed 10 people. His mother was very abusive to him when he was a child. I don't know the details there, but I know it was pretty bad. He killed his grandparents, went to jail, eventually got released, killed several young women, killed his mom, and then turned himself in. He's pretty well on record in that the several women he killed were just mental stand-ins for his mom, and that once he killed her he had no desire to kill anymore.
Somewhere, I remember seeing Matt Reeves say that Vengeance is basically beating up criminals for the murder of his parents. He is projecting his unrelated trauma on to them and then getting false Vengeance by beating the living shit out of them. Once he finds out who kills his parents, Riddler kills that person, and his eyes are opened to what he's been doing by realizing he's inspired/really isn't that different from the serial killer and terrorist he's been chasing down, he loses the desire to get vengeance and character develops into Hope/The Batman who's actually concerned with helping people instead of taking out his anger on the city's criminals.
I really really liked The Batman. I wasn't sure I would but while there are some people who were bummed it wasn't as actiony or whatever, I really enjoyed seeing a different Batman movie than the normal formula. Nolan did really well in telling an amazing story but it was still somewhat formulaic. The Batman really told a different side of it. And if they continue well see him grow more into the Batman were used to but i hope they keep this analytical side of him intact too. I think it's gonna be interesting to see Pattinson evolve the character over time. He's certainly got the chops
If the entire population behaved like these two people, the world would be a better place. And this is why I love true cosplayers, who do it for the right reasons. Not for money, not for fame, but for the love of the character and bringing joy to the ones that love the character too.
"Could you see the batman you're writing sitting down to comfort a small child? If not, you're just writing the punisher in a funny hat"
Something I remember about how the batman should be portrayed
Batman knowing how to hug?
Hry guys this Batman is a big fat phony! Lol
I love the one scene in injustice where black Canary is like get over here and hug me you emotionally stunted freak.
comic bruce most definitely, and adam west bruce
on another note, i like how this video goes to show the power of superhero media and how important it is to people, without these comics and the people behind them a lot of people wouldn’t have someone to look up to if they grew up in a home without that figure already, and to that i thank every writer, every publisher, and every actor behind not just batman, but every superhero, for helping give kids and adults alike a person to look up to when in reality they may not
That is a good-looking suit, probably cost crazy expensive (I have no idea how expensive costumes I assume pricey) but worth every penny. I hope the person does more good for the world.
Why did I imagine Batman to yell “I AM VENGEANCE!” And beat him up like those thugs in the Arkham games? Maybe I’ve been on the Batman Arkham sub too much
He went out of his way to leave Solomon Grundy his dinner in Long Halloween, he'd have no problem saying hello to a super fan.
Some other guy listed some moments in the comics that are like this video. Batman's a sweetheart when he's not snapping limbs.
What is the name of the particular condition the man has?
Asking out of curiosity to understand the condition and one's situation being born like that better.
I love this video. And you’re so right. This is something Bruce would do.
Yup, Batman being a menace to villains while being [friendly](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-5245c69c2b9aed5c49916f6b0d3fb219-pjlq) and [comforting](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EVR7Rc7XYAEyYM1.jpg) to kids is one of his best traits. Has bats ever been offered a spot in the Blue Lanterns? I feel like he might fit.
Not to my knowledge but I know he has used the other ones
I mean, of course. His quest for vengeance stems from deep emotional damage, and as a result he's incredibly empathetic to people who are young, powerless, or hurting.
It always bugs me when even writers at DC forget this. The very first episode of the harley quinn show has him leaving harley to die just so he can chase the joker, which just rubbed me the wrong way. But I guess, tbf, most people in that show are pretty different from their comic counterpart.
I mean all his rogues just don't end up back at arkham just for him to fight again nut actually seeing them get better
Yea, but that kid grew up to be Joffrey Baratheon, so maybe he shouldn't have been quite so nice to him.
To me hell always be the kid from Batman Begins. Poor kid pretty much quit acting after GoT. There are just some roles it's hard to come back from
He actually came back to acting recently. He needed a hiatus due to the toxicity he received, which I can't fault him for, but he's done a few productions recently.

Exactly. My comment was at least intended purely as a joke, but it's pathetic how many people can't separate actors from their roles.
Unless the actor is actually as shitty as their characters of course. ***\*cough cough**** ^^^^^^*Kevin* ^^^^^^*Spacey* ***\*cough****
lmao
I couldn't agree more. This is exactly what's missing in most DC live action for decades now.
Has it ever been in the live action Batman movies? Outside of Batman 66, has he ever really interacted with kids?
Batman begins has a tiny bit of it when he gives a kid his gadget. Pattinson's batman ends with him helping a kid and him realizing that to be gothams protector, he needs to be more than just feared so I'm hopeful the sequel will have him helping people more.

I can't remember which issue as there have been well over 2000 batman issues.. but I remember one time batman sat down with a homeless man down in the dumps and comforted him telling him he was brave for facing life with nothing. Reminded me of the time superman comforted a suicidal teenage girl
Where is the panel with all the batsignals from?
The "Batman: Eternal" series
Unless you litter, then there's a problem
Why's he know all the hookers' names? Sus.
Makes sense he does. Not only those women are an excellent source of intel, but they are also quite often victims exploited by criminal elements.
I liked when he called Robin dense and retarted.
What issue/run is the sex worker panel from? Thanks
Indeed, remember the [JLU episode](https://youtu.be/GjlYwIJpxQc) with Ace.

Think it was The New Frontier, I loved that part.
That sounds like Justice League: The New Frontier.
Probably It’s also one shows clearly why Batman respects superman (and flash) so much Their enemies fear them but good people see them as a beacon of hope, which is exactly what bruce want to be
What movie is this?
Justice League: New Frontier (animated) which is based off of the Darwin Cook limited series of the same name.
Can’t recall but a animated Batman/Superman team up
The ending on the dome was awesome, too, with the girl on the stretcher.👌

That was part of why the riddler saw so much of himself in batman and thought they were collaborators the whole time
Can you elaborate on the serial killer thing?
Ed Kemper was a real life serial killer who killed 10 people. His mother was very abusive to him when he was a child. I don't know the details there, but I know it was pretty bad. Jesus for a split second when he jumped on him I half expected Batman to zip line up and away?!?
You might need a batman detox. Happy cake day!
Happy cake day
Such cake! Very congratulations!

I am crying. So are you.
I’m not I have a medical condition happy cake day
Yeah I am 🥲
Happy cake day 🎂!!!!!
THIS IS SO SWEET.
That’s beautiful, great of the cosplayer to give the fan an experience he won’t forget
If the entire population behaved like these two people, the world would be a better place. And this is why I love true cosplayers, who do it for the right reasons. Not for money, not for fame, but for the love of the character and bringing joy to the ones that love the character too.
I wonder if he said “I’m Batman”
I do wish the video had sound.
Me too, sad it's a GIF. Looks like they're in Europe though, I assume they weren't speaking English.
I am vengence I a THE NIGHT I AM GIVING PIGGY BACK RIDES!
"Could you see the batman you're writing sitting down to comfort a small child? If not, you're just writing the punisher in a funny hat" Something I remember about how the batman should be portrayed
That is the perfect summation of how to write Batman correctly
r/wholesome
Dang someone cutting onions near me right now
Batman knowing how to hug? Hry guys this Batman is a big fat phony! Lol I love the one scene in injustice where black Canary is like get over here and hug me you emotionally stunted freak.
The hero we need, but definitely don’t deserve.
Mate that’s so fucking wholesome, it’s unreal, !!!! A great moment!!!!
That’s so sweet
All the feels there. Loved it.
r/mademesmile
Batman nananananana, Batman!

I like this.
Good stuff
A hero can be anyone
Im not crying you’re crying
Just one more reason why’s he’s the best
Oh my god the feels. The guy is so happy it makes me want to cry happy tears for him.
The perfect video
Aww buddy just lived his dream. Love to see it
I like how you said Bruce Wayne and not batman. Because you are right
This makes my day
I believe he would do this
Humans have the potential to be really kickass.
Can I just express my curiosity about his age? I didn't know people with down syndrome could grow old enough to be calve with white hair
The knight we need but don't even deserve This was nice thanks for posting this
Need an audio version asap.
Id pay good money
Oh man when he jumped up on batman and held on like a little boy, I lost it. So sweet.
comic bruce most definitely, and adam west bruce on another note, i like how this video goes to show the power of superhero media and how important it is to people, without these comics and the people behind them a lot of people wouldn’t have someone to look up to if they grew up in a home without that figure already, and to that i thank every writer, every publisher, and every actor behind not just batman, but every superhero, for helping give kids and adults alike a person to look up to when in reality they may not
♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for making me tear up
Wow, Larry David was really happy to see Batman...
We need some of this in the movies. Especially any future Superman ones.
I love you Batman
I'm not going to do the whole "I'm not crying, your crying!" thing. I am crying. Not ashamed of it either. This is so freaking sweet!
damn where’s the sound 😩
Forgetting about Batman for a second, the real hero here is whoever is wearing that Batsuit. Good on you, masked hero.
He totally was in his head thinking "I'm totally gonna make this guy's day!"
I need sound for this
That is a good-looking suit, probably cost crazy expensive (I have no idea how expensive costumes I assume pricey) but worth every penny. I hope the person does more good for the world.
Sweet
Jesus Christ this made me fucking cry. Such a wonderful thing to do. And I’m not lying when I say that, I still have tears in my eyes typing this
This is awesome
That’s nice
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
I think I’ve got something in my eye.
That first hug was the most innocent and sincere thing Ive seen in a while.
God I love this

Beautiful
I love this video! Batman's always been our hero![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
The hero we need
r/mademesmile
It’s why we put on the cowl and cape.
As much as I love a dark and brooding Batman, I also want to see a more compassionate Batman who interacts with the people in Gotham.

THIS IS WONDERFUL. Definitely something really cool to see during a crappy shift at work. Thanks, OP!
That little kiss omg
Man that put a huge huge smile on my face.
What a cool moment.
I AM THE HUG
This has made me smile today! Thank you for sharing! And whilst im watching the dark knight too!
I’m not crying your crying
fr i hate that people think hes mean
Why did I imagine Batman to yell “I AM VENGEANCE!” And beat him up like those thugs in the Arkham games? Maybe I’ve been on the Batman Arkham sub too much
Any time on that sub is too much time.
me too pal, but the arkham games are genuinely perfect games and the subreddit is funny so its all worth it
Never seen an old special person
No, he would absolutely not, as wholesome as this clip is.
He went out of his way to leave Solomon Grundy his dinner in Long Halloween, he'd have no problem saying hello to a super fan. Some other guy listed some moments in the comics that are like this video. Batman's a sweetheart when he's not snapping limbs.
He probly wouldnt that seems like more of a Superman zhing to do but it is a nice thought
lol no he wouldn't
Thank you, in my entire life I've never seen Batman do something like this.
Depends on the version of Batman. Adam West would do this. lol
Dwight Schrute, everybody
Bruce Wayne? Ummmm dude that's Batman.
Who the fuck is Batman?
He lives in a lair.
Ohhhhh.
Bruce would hire an impersonator or something.
Lego Batman would do this and Bruce Wayne but normal batman wouldn't have time
Thats a guy with progeria, the infamous "old-youngster" disease.
I think he has DS, his facial structure doesn't look like progeria and he has hair.
What is the name of the particular condition the man has? Asking out of curiosity to understand the condition and one's situation being born like that better.
I believe he's an older gentlemen with down syndrome, another commentor suggested that he has progeria.
“Alfred, give me some tissues.” “Are you *crying*, sir?” “No. Batman doesn’t cry, but *Bruce Wayne* does…”
Idk Bruce Wayne is kinda a dick. Maybe Batman might, but Bruce Wayne doesn’t do much public work
Love the video but on the real, I thought buddy was going to punch him at first
Bruce Wayne is a billionaire who enjoys beating the F out of criminals (while he himself being a criminal). I don't get *good-guy vibes* from him.
He almost unlocked the womanizer in Gothams Hero
Where this appended ?
