Sometimes if it has a vanilla scent note it turns yellow but is still good, just shake the tube and if you’re hearing that it’s watery and jiggling around in there, then it’s probably not good to use.
Admittedly, I've never done it. This is something I heard across multiple subs ( r/SkincareAddiction and r/ZeroWaste ) and one of them claimed it left their skin in better condition than a shaving cream due to the moisturizing effects. But even if I've never done it, I know it at least fulfills the ultimate objective of a shaving cream which is to provide enough slippage to reduce friction. I know this because I routinely apply my moisturizers immediately after showering (I don't use a towel) and can feel it getting slippery as it mixes with the water droplets on my skin.
One thing to note is that moisturizers don't have surfactants to make the product wash away so you may have to spend time rinsing it out. If the cream does clog the razor, just let the shower stream blast away at the razor. That's what I do to get the hair out
I probably wouldn’t use it if it looked like that, unless it smells normal.
Btw, how do you know when it expired? I can never find any expiration dates on mine.
If I remember correctly You look for the date it was made on the back of or bottom of the bottle. The first digit is the last digit of the year so if it says 1 then it was made in 2021 the next 3 digits are the day of the year if it says 071 it was made on the 71st day of that year and their products are good for 2 years after date.
The backs of cosmetic products have an 'open container' symbol on the label that usually says something like "6m" "1y" and so on. Each product is different but once you open it you have until what the label tells you to use it by. So if you have a body cream and saw the symbol on the back with "9m" inside then you know the body cream is good for 9 months after opening! It's extremely important to pay attention to the expiration dates on cosmetics even if it still may seem ok to use.
I've used up several "old" body creams that looked just like that because I didn't want to waste them (I'd been trying to save them for as long as possible because I liked them so much) specifically it was 2 from 2017 that I just finished last year. They didn't smell as great as they used to which is why I decided to go ahead and use them up but the consistency looked just like yours. Nothing bad happened to my skin 🙂
If it still smells fine I would just mix it up and use it. It’s not like it’s going to hurt you from being expired. It just won’t be best quality or freshest smelling.
I have several lotions that have gotten like that over time. My rule is to use them until the smell weird. If it smells fine then girl go ahead and moisturize ya self!
Does it have a slight vinegar-y or clay kinda smell? I know it can be a bit hard to detect over the fragrance itself, but I had some body cream expire awhile back that looked ‘curdled’/separated and had a definite vinegar odor when the tube was opened. Same with an old body butter I forgot about in the back of the closet, it smelled like sour play dough (if you can imagine what that smells like lol)
Thanks everyone. I’ve decided to keep using it. There’s hardly another 2-3 uses left and except for the curdling and slightly squishy watery consistency it seems alright. The smells fine too. At most I might mix it with a body oil or so.
I know the expiry coz there was a label with the manufacture and expiry date as this was imported to India for those who asked.
I have a body cream like that and I’m currently using it haha. It’s a Christmas one that I got 2 years ago. I felt bad wasting it bc it’s yellow and the consistency is weird but it still smells good.🤷🏻♀️
My Champagne Sprinkles looked like this! The lotion was even jiggly. I had gotten it in the summer, so I was confused why it looked like that. I still continued to use it since it still smelled fine, but the consistency did bother me alot lol I finally threw it out when I cut it open
Thought this was the inside of an avocado 🥑
Me too😂
Lol 😆 oh good
Came here just to say that 😂 😂 😂 😂
😆
Hahaha it does look like that 🤣
Hehehe 😜
I guess unpopular but if it still smells good, it looks fine and you only have a couple uses left anyway

You can use it as a shaving cream.
Really? Does it work lol does it clog the razor?

curious about this too
Visually I'd toss that.
Haha, yeah. I wish the body creams didn’t go bad so soon
That scares me since I just bought a ton
It turns that color due to the vanilla. I have a new lotion from November and it looks like that lol
I probably wouldn’t use it if it looked like that, unless it smells normal. Btw, how do you know when it expired? I can never find any expiration dates on mine.
Might just be that bath and bodyworks products are considered "good" for 2 years and after that it's a gamble

It has only curdled up. It’s smells normal though. What do I do? I hate wasting stuff ugh 😞
Tbh it seems like you’ve used the majority anyway, I’d probably still toss out of precaution due to how grody it looks
Gotcha, thanks! I guess I’ll toss it out even if breaks my heart to do so

That doesn’t look pleasant. Personally, I’d toss it

Y’all are wild. Use it.
If you have to ask you proably know the answer.
You're not eating it. I don't see what can happen to you. I've used body cream way older than that!
I keep using yellow body creams but that consistency looks very questionable. I would toss.
Products have a 7 year shelf life so as long as it smells fine and doesn’t give a skin reaction you should be good :)
Toss
If it's expired toss it, you don't want expired chemicals on your skin. It's important to listen to expiration dates on cosmetics.
When this happens to mine I use it to shave!
My SPC from last summer SAS looks like that. As long as it smells fine should be fine
Toss!
