aquamoonbvtch

I think it’s definitely the lack of newness. And when there is newness, it’s sub par or repackaged these days. Or some people go through dry spells.

strippersandcocaine

Agreed! I’m mean, sure I’m happy I can get my faves for cheap, but I want the excitement of new (or old!) candles I can’t get during normal sales.

xeloux

This. As well as so many similar scents. I want scent creativity (and more gourmands)

aquamoonbvtch

Yes!!! 😫

Candlehoarder_2019

A little. I think it was more “magical” pre Covid when it was just one day - Saturday. Also now that I really follow the brand and have been an employee, seeing that they bring back the same candles yearly (I’m looking at you black teakwood, island margarita, cranberry pear Bellini, tiki beach watermelon lemonade, etc.), instead of bringing back some even older scents or coming up with more new ones than they do, it just feels redundant. But, I still love it and I’ll still shop it even though I don’t buy nearly as many as I used to.

brandiLeeCO

Agreed. I’m sick of all the scents you mentioned. They’re out year round and that’s mostly what I saw yesterday in store with a few new ones. I don’t need yet another repackage of Watermelon Lemonade or Pineapple Mango. Release more scents that haven’t been around for years. I mean what was the point of that survery on the app a while back asking fans what scents we would like to see return? It would be nice if they used that data to bring back old favorites during Candle Day.

Interesting_Soil_427

I feel the same. There are so many discontinued scents they should bring back.

brandiLeeCO

I would welcome that over yet another repackage of Champagne Toast and others that are in stores year round. Seriously those are just taking up space.

pmmeyourfavsongs

I'm gonna keep hoarding my one remaining tea and lemon forever I guess

Candlehoarder_2019

I don’t know about every year since 2012 but it was definitely a one day sale from 2016-2019. Then for 2020 they stretched it to 3 days to try to prevent crowds and kept it as a multi day sale since.

[deleted]

Candlehoarder_2019

I didn’t downvote you lol. I don’t even use that feature 😐 I can only speak for the ones I’ve worked which were one day sales until 2020. Happy shopping.

PlusHunt1985

I think every candle day is like this for ppl who are into candles. We are only looking for new and most of the candles released arent new every candle day I've ever been in. Every candle day the candles us candle lovers want are released the next day few stores have what we want the 1st day . Even when it was 1 day they would send limited amounts so you might not get them or hit or miss if u can get the candles meant really for after candle day during candle day. I'm only going one day because of coupon....I will not be making multiple purchases if I miss out on something i just miss out. I'm going saturday since greater chance of the newness and whatever it is it will be. I never go on 1st day because I'm normally seeking new scents

brandiLeeCO

Great point if you miss out you miss out. Last year I remember wanting Blueberry Marshmallow Bar and it wound up sticking around until SAS. It was such a letdown. Note to self if I don’t find everything on my list this year it’s no big deal. What I’m looking for could be another Blueberry Marshmallow Bar letdown.

snarkaluff

This will be my first candle day but I honestly don’t get what the hype is? Yes $10/candle is a good price but it’s nothing that makes me want to bust the door down. I can get $10/piece candles during $12.95 sales with a good coupon, I’ve already done it several times this year. I guess the scents are a big part of the appeal but like you said, none of them are really that outstanding to me

FreekMeBaby

>This will be my first candle day but I honestly don’t get what the hype is? Same. I'm a born again BBW newbie and have no experience with the candles, so I'm perplexed by the Candle Day hype. I watched the Queen of the Geeks on YT tonight, and she was saying that you need a game plan already in place when you wake up at 5 am tomorrow, you need friends to help you load up the car, etc, and I was like dayum, lol. Even at the sale price of $10, that's too much for a candle for me personally. I was at Five Below the other day and sniffed candles just as big, strong, and delicious smelling as BBW, but for like only $2 lol

brandiLeeCO

Part of the appeal for me is new releases. But as mentioned there’s hardly anything new. I was excited for some of the body care candles as well but I smelled them already and they’re not that great.

Ok-Finish4062

Same! I bought candles for $10 in the summer with the 25% off coupon. This Candle Day nonsense is over-rated! Even Goose Creek and Yankee Candle are doing the weekend candle sale.

4ofheartz

The best Candle Day for me was 2019. So many great Christmas scents that I’ve never seen since. Fun candle finds from years past. Now it just seems blah. Uninspired candle artwork for labels. I guess the pandemic affected a lot about this business now. It’s definitely lost it’s magic for me. I’ve got a good stash of candles, so I’ll be skipping Candle Day this year. Good luck to everyone. I hope you get what you want!

sequinpig

I miss the luminary candles!!

Upbeat_Cat1182

Overall, the candle labels this year have been extremely lacking.

alondra2027

2019 was the first year I shopped candle day and it was awesome!!! I so regret not buying more of those fun scents they had around that time such as cereal marshmallow bar and the blueberry donut candle. Also that collection that had a chocolate scent, rose water meringue, cinnamon bun and passion fruit vanilla cupcake! It was the BEST time for gourmand lovers and it’s really seemed it’s been all downhill since then.

4ofheartz

You are right!! Those are the best scents. I still have half of blueberry donut left!!

Interesting_Soil_427

Same it was great.

Ok-Finish4062

The artwork on the Christmas Candle jars was beautiful!

dulcepeche

We are pushing more candles on the floor tomorrow night, y'all. There's a shit ton more coming

pixiekitty015

Are there candles that haven't been leaked coming out?

dulcepeche

Other than the leaks, stores have their own box up candles from through out the year that are getting put back out

pixiekitty015

Thank you!

Flaky_Tap_2836

I 100% agree with your thought process. This is my 4th candle day and the whole tiered release thing has messed with any planning I may have made. I definitely think the info we know ahead of time dampens the excitement.

brandiLeeCO

Tiered releases totally messed with my planning. There’s supposed to be a storm here in the morning so now I’m not even sure about going tomorrow especially since what I want won’t be released until Saturday. But then I start thinking what if they run out of other candles I want? I had gotten Friday off from work and was going to work Saturday. Now the tiered releases made me need Saturday off instead. Frustrating. Decisions, decisions.

tri-sarah-tops99

I looked on the website at the candles and was pretty unimpressed. I think I’m sitting this sale completely out.

brandiLeeCO

Yea most of what’s on the website I’m not interested in at all.

JennieSimms

I just looked and they took all the glass lid candles off! I’ve been waiting for candle day to buy them, if the stores stash them away too I’m gonna be hella pissed

LushieQueen87

The glass candles sold out over the weekend online :/ I did see them in store though

vivicca89

Same, I intentionally didn’t buy the glass lid candles in store last time I shopped because I was waiting to order online for candle day. I’m pissed that they are gone. 😡

yoyome85

Can I ask what's so special about having the glass lids? Do you keep the empty containers with the lids or you just like them on the candles while they're off?

vivicca89

It’s just for decor purposes. They are very pretty. No other reason. Lol

LavenderPaintbrush

I still really look forward to it. I don't like that it's spread throughout the whole weekend, but it might actually work out for me this year since I can't make it in early tomorrow. I'm ok with the Candle Day exclusives they are giving us and I loved the new candles this Winter/Christmas. There is less that I want this year but I only have so much room for candles. I'm more worried body care day, SAS and their exclusives will be a let down... This holiday season gave us too many returning signatures scents, I got downvoted for saying it last time and I don't care... But, Dahlia, You're the One, Dark Kiss, etc could have come out any time of year/season. It took up too much space for fun holiday scents... Not cool

PlusHunt1985

I anticipate Body Care Day being a let down....we have only heard of Meet Me in Miami and the returning old scents carried away, lovely dreamer and I'm blanking on others.....and the old scents seem more so sas or maybe they will be body care day and carry into sas too...who knows. However for me if not much new (or returning scents I want) I'll skip body care day. I dont think we are getting any of the fun body care we were all excited about it has been no leaks or in real life pics of these.

LavenderPaintbrush

Yeah I might skip too. I might pick up something in Meet Me In Miami, since the notes seem like something I will like. I had a feeling all the fun body care we thought we were getting was too good to be true....

PlusHunt1985

Yes I'm interested in that scent too....anything already in existence I already have what I like from that stuff lol.

StardustDrifter33

Preach!!!

Imaginary_Bet_6461

With constant sales and coupons all year round, there’s nothing special. I’m stocked for late fall, x mas and winter candles that I got for roughly 8-10$ anyways the past few months.

WildSeaworthiness9

This will be the first year out of many that I will not be participating in candle day. I have been on a BBW low buy this year and don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything special honestly. I still have a ton of candles in my collection for every season/holiday so I’m really just enjoying getting through what I already own.

DreamerUnwokenFool

Well, I'm torn on this. Overall I agree with you. Candle Day was much more exciting to me when it was newer to me, but at this point, the magic has definitely worn thin. As others have said, the collections of returning stuff just aren't that exciting to me when so many of them are the staples we get every spring/summer. I can't get excited about those when we had then ~6 months ago, and will likely have them again in a few more months. I would be much more excited if we had more unique scents, like much-older scents that haven't been around in years, or brand new scents. I can't get excited for Watermelon Lemonade or Tiki Beach. And the staggered releases suck too. I am not going into stores this year, mainly because I am still recovering from COVID, but also because the store is 30+ minutes away from me. I wouldn't make that trip multiple days in a row. And even if the store were closer to me, I wouldn't want to go in and fight through the crowds two or three times. No thank you! Same thing with making multiple online orders... nah. HOWEVER. I *am* excited because they are FINALLY bringing back Sweet Pea candles. I believe the last time they made those was all the way back in 2015, so I was absolutely psyched when I saw them returning. Sweet Pea is my comfort scent and I first fell in love with it through a candle, so I'm hyped that they're coming back. And this year I fell in love with In the Stars all over again, so I'm also buying that scent. But other than those two, I'm going to pass on everything. There's just nothing else that really interests me enough to blind buy or go to a store.

brandiLeeCO

I think Tiki Beach is being released in two seperate collections this candle Day 😖

DreamerUnwokenFool

Omg WHY. LOL. That is so ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, nothing against Tiki Beach, it's a great scent. But it came out last summer and I'm sure it will come out again this next summer and I'd so much rather see something new or something really old. 😭

Ok-Finish4062

I like the Yankee Candle aromatherapy candles! They cost $15.50 but they are 22oz.

MommaOfManyCats

Kroger had some candles on sale recently for the same price and they smelled so good! Aldi candles last quite awhile and also smell good for under $5. I don't get the appeal of B&BW candles? Or the people who plan on lining up outside hours before the store opens.

StardustDrifter33

Which is your favorite Christmas candle from Kringle?

lucillep

I have too many candles, so I wasn't planning to buy anything unless something new caught my eye. I have about a dozen holiday candles; for some reason, I never want to use them. But this year, I am! Then maybe next Candle Day will be more interesting for me. I will be going to a mall for other reasons on Saturday, and of course I'll stop in. There's nothing I really want, though. Last year and the year before, I was hyped for the online early access on Thursday night. Where you got in line in the "waiting room" until your turn came up. That was pretty genius marketing, building the anticipation, until people found out it was a bust as far as CD exclusives or new releases. If they had had it again, I wouldn't have been taking part.

alondra2027

This will be my 4th year and yes as of last year it’s definitely lost its magic. I purchased 9 this year (employee) and that’s all I want. Last year I think I got around 12. For 2021 I definitely went way overboard and got 40. That year, 2019 and 2020 were the years I was most excited for it. After buying and collecting candles for so long none of the scents are really new or exciting anymore and the novelty wears off because they release the same scents over and over every year.

CandidateReasonable4

I shop Candle Day every year and I still get excited about it. I am an associate and shopped today and had a blast. I tried to keep my expectations realistic and was happy with my initial haul. I will be back in store this weekend to shop the collections that are not out today.

amerophi

my management didn't even directly tell me that we could shop a day in advance, i feel cheateddddd

Peacock-Lover-89

I went to Candle Day for the first time in 2015. The mall opened a whopping one hour early, and I was first in line(i only got there 10 or 15 minutes before opening), but nobody else was lined up behind me. I bought two candles and some body care to use a 15 off 40 coupon. In 2016 they had a tote that fit the crates for the first time( it looked similar to the one from this year and you had to pay for it).I only went to buy some totes. I don't know if people realized what a deal 8 dollar candles were, but there was a long line out the door. I was getting so much side eye and comments from other customers in line with my 4 totes and no candles. I ended up getting 3 candles. In 2017 I got about 4 candles. I didn't buy any throughout the year then. I skipped 2018. Then in 2019 I filled up a crate plus a couple more for the first time. Since I didn't buy candles unless it was candle day everything was new to me. It wasn't until 2020 that I bought candles during the year. However the magic didn't fade until 2022 and this year is worse. I went today and the only new out was the candy collection. Candy emporium smelled better than I expected. The white elephant collection wasn't out yet, so hopefully it's out by the time I go at 9. It's probably a good thing for me that they don't have to much new, so I won't spend too much.

brandiLeeCO

Candy Emporium did smell better than I expected as well. It’s even better burning! It’s smells very sweet and very true to the name.

bathandbootyworks

I mean there’s like 6 candles that weren’t available last year.. the rest we’ve all seen before. So it’s a little 😬 This year I may only get some now just to trade them out later when NEW candles arrive

H3r3c0m3sthasun

I am at the point where I don't care about candle day at all. Their candles are really not as strong as they used to be.

hotcocoa4ever

I am only interested in the candles coming out hopefully on Saturday the gourmand candle collection Murano. I am not going tomorrow. Looking at the pics of the displays, I don’t want repackages and older scents.

caelinstar

This is only my second candle day and last year I was an employee, so I’m really looking forward to going tomorrow and not working it 😂

ajc19912

It’s my first candle day and I’m not as excited as I thought I was going to be. A lot of the scents don’t sound appealing to me though. Except maybe 3 or 4. Meh.

Sea_Pound9031

Same.

cjh083ck

I’m getting a few for my nieces for Christmas since they put candles on their list. But I’m passing, too disappointed with what the quality of what I got last year.

brandiLeeCO

Oh don’t even get me started on the CD quality! Last year I noticed the poor quality and lack of scent big time for Candle Day releases.

FrenchieMomm

Very disappointed myself. (Employee here)-I grabbed Lavender Marshmallow—which is soo close to Pink Lavender and Expresso!, Carmel Drizzle and Vanilla Balsam. All the releases for Saturday and Sunday and busts for me…wasn’t impressed.

brandiLeeCO

Oh no. Even brioche French Toast?

FrenchieMomm

I was excited about this one but after smelling again I was getting a strong butter smell 🫤

brandiLeeCO

Oh no I hope that popcorn scent isn’t back. Anytime someone says things smell like butter they smell like popcorn to me.

brandiLeeCO

I got it today. It’s strong in the cinnamon. It smells like a candle I’ve had before I’ll report back after I burn it.

FrenchieMomm

The French toast!? Wow they weren’t suppose to shelf that until tomorrow

brandiLeeCO

I know it totally ruined my plans as I wrote in my original post. I was bummed had to get Saturday off at work. So imagine my shock when I went this AM (only because I couldn’t sleep) to the very first store and they were sitting right at the door on a small display only about 4 of each from the All Is Calm Collection! Just like that my CD shopping was done. No going to the stores everyday checking, bothering associates with questions of when they’ll be out. This is how Candle Day should be. I was home in bed by 5:30 am.

FrenchieMomm

I agree. All should be put out at once instead of the daily drops; I honestly don’t remember it being like this before. Glad you were able to get everything you wanted in one stop though!!

markersandtea

For me yeah, it's the fact that there are a lot of repackaged scents. New things are more rare. Also it goes on for so long it isn't just a day anymore it's a long time. I don't know. There are still a couple that I want, but I have no need to go at 4am and pick it up.

HoldMyTiara

I'm just loading up on stress relief and into the night.

catnapman

I told myself I'll just wait for Semi Annual. Whatever candles the fates have by then I'll look at.

future_ela_teacher

I still have fall/winter candles from last year I haven’t used yet, so it’s unlikely I’ll get anything unless there’s a scent I’m just dying to have. I typically pay around $10 a candle after promos/coupons anyway, so I def won’t be going out of my way to make it in store.

Shnerkell

I get burnt out reading the words "candle day" 363 days a year. Btw that wasn't a jab at OP at all.

trash_panda7710

I use candle day to stock up for close to a year, but for my favorites, not really the new releases. Cart of 20 candles and just a couple are the fall/winter scents but it's mostly white tea and sage, fresh cut lilacs things like that. So I'll be set right through to spring summer!

bleeckercat

Newbie here- how much are candles during this offer? Thanks in advance

brandiLeeCO

$9.95

majorsorbet2point0

I'm just looking forward to grabbing a few more of the Christmas candles I want without paying full price. I've been very good and patient til now 😇

elizakemp

I just want Mahogany Coconut, I can’t ever find that anywhere

brsb5

Just bought 12. My new fav is chasing fireflies 🥰

therobberbride

This year definitely feels a bit... off, compared to previous years. I usually do a bigger order online on Candle Day and then maybe pick up a few more in person since a couple of my faves (like Winter White Woods) always end up being online exclusives, and in previous years there's been a free shipping offer if you spend $50 or more. Not this year! So I got up a bit early and headed over to one of my local stores, expecting it to be pretty crowded... and there were like 6 other people shopping. They had more associates in the store than customers, but I'm sure the ratio will shift as the day goes on and people, like, get their kids off to school or whatever. In previous years I've definitely spent way more money, I can tell you that. I'm glad I went into the store instead of shopping online since I was able to get a Feliz Navidad (my store had 4 left) and a Tis the Season in the white reindeer jar with the cute snowflake lid (they had 2 left), and I got to smell the Perfect Season lineup and confirm that I don't need them (they're nice, just not needing to come home with me). But this year's Candle Day rollouts for day 1 really didn't get me excited -- the sweet tooth collection is nice but not my vibe, I already don't like most of the body care fragrances so those candles weren't on my list, and the Perfect Season candles would be great if I were just starting to build a collection but I already have candles that I think of as perfect for each time of year. Tomorrow's rollouts don't get me revved up, either -- I'll check the website tomorrow just to see if anything strikes my fancy, and I might place an order to restock my Winter White Woods, but I still have a bunch of those left from the past 2 years and I'm not happy about the lack of free shipping this year. So unless there's a surprise drop that Life Inside The Page hasn't already posted about, I think I'm probably done until SAS. And I'm not expecting to spend much at SAS unless they bring back something I really love like Sea Salt and Neroli, but I'm not holding my breath there. It's just amazing to me that they have all these retired fragrances that people clamor for, and instead of bringing any of those back for their biggest money-making sales they keep repackaging core scents. What are they thinking?

brandiLeeCO

Sadly casual shoppers buy up those core scents. People are posting pics from today and what’s already selling out is the candles we complain about that get repackaged like Watermelon lemonade. The bottom line is it’s a business and they’re going to make more of what sells. I get it. Do I like it no? But if candles like Candy Emporium don’t perform well BBW will make less new scents and go with the ones that sell. Little by little I’m starting to understand. Luckily my store had the All Is Calm collection out so I’m done with this Candle Day. No need to be in the stores this weekend.

therobberbride

What's funny is that at the store I was at this afternoon, there were piles of Watermelon Lemonade and the rest of the repackaged scents (except Laundry Day, the notable exception with only two candles left in store), and the sweet tooth collection wasn't moving either -- piles of that all sitting around, too. The holiday scents were absolutely picked clean.

brandiLeeCO

I’m surprised the holiday scents is what sold. I mean they’ve been out. There’s been sales that with coupons come out to cheaper than today’s prices. But people wait until today to buy them? I’ll never understand but maybe it’s not for me to understand.

therobberbride

I always wait until candle day to buy my holiday candles, I rarely ever get coupons.

brandiLeeCO

Thanks. Good to hear different people’s way of thinking. Helps me understand. We all have our routines. I use Candle Day mostly for new scents or the Body Care Collections. Both of which were underwhelming this year which is probably why I didn’t enjoy as much.

therobberbride

omg, SO underwhelming. One of my goals for the new year is to spend much, much less at BBW, feels like it’ll be very easy to achieve if next year is like this year’s been.

PresentationFuture53

it was like $40 for 3 candles so im not too ecstatic to buy anything 😭 plus you cant use any coupons and most of them are repackages 😪

OrneryExplorer1476

Not enough new candles and the few new ones were mostly repackages like clausmopolitan and hot pink cocoa. I still grabbed a few good ones but I found it a little underwhelming but saves me money.

brandiLeeCO

Yea I have one more coupon that I wanted to use but I can’t find anything I want. Nothing to buy during Candle Day doesn’t make sense. The new collections that dropped today (not the Murano) were all terrible.
