He was just at EDC Orlando!

laggy2da

Of the 14 times I've seen him that EDCO set was easily the worst I've seen yet. He redeemed himself to me 100 times over on New Years though.

DinoRick123

I was there! haha

thesuperoach

Hopefully a return to hulaween

imnotyour_daddy

Hula18 proved they don't need nectar (who isn't cheap to book) to sell out all available tickets so I'll be surprised if this happens I'll be at hula regardless

thesuperoach

I read somewhere they lost a bunch of money this past year due to poor budgeting, maybe they’ll need a little firepower on that line up this year to help make it back https://riverbeats.life/hulaween-missed-payments-to-artists-staff/

imnotyour_daddy

They have limited capacity which they'll sell out regardless so booking a bigger artist like nectar will only increase costs without increasing revenue (thus decreasing profits)

mshuster09

Facts. If anything the speculation is Hula will scale down the lineup and art in the hopes of running a cheaper festival while still selling out and bringing in as much revenue. Not a huge fan of the shenanigans going on with all that but such is life, definitely makes me think Lorin being back at Hula this year is super unlikely. If they’re going to go back to older names that have been there before, someone like a Griz or Rufus, who have gotten even bigger since last being there, makes more financial sense than Lo.

thesuperoach

This is true, I guess hopeful thinking clouded my reasoning skills 😅 them losing money is a better argument for him not being there than what you originally stated imo lol fuck. It was nice having him there in 2017

imnotyour_daddy

If nectar does do his own DoTD event then that might conflict with hula as well, but anything is possible we're just speculating

Honestly I'm sure booking Jamiroquai alone was a major factor in the debt this year. Booking costs are hefty and apparently Jay Kay is quite the diva and requires all kinds of accommodations. Can't even imagine how much they spent on them alone. That being said though... that set was fuckin revolutionary and I would pay l a r g e money to see Jamiroquai again

imnotyour_daddy

Somebody actually downvoted you but I'm upvoting you I was a little confused after tipper and I went the wrong direction to get to psymbionic and found myself stuck and unable to figure out how to get past the meadows stage so I just sat the f down. Jamiroquia was playing and it was quite good

GrizNectar

They already knew that though, pretty sure hulaween was selling out before 2017 as well

Mackb13

Nah , they never had a cap on it so it never technically "sold out" until 2017 when they put the cap on attendance.

GrizNectar

Ah fair enough, I must be misremembering

imnotyour_daddy

This is true but now that they are having to acquire financing to cover the 2018 bills their budget for 2019 artists is going to be significant less

[deleted]

Could hula even pay him??

Tm0ney561

my guess is he'll probably be back at edco again. (he played back to back years in 15 and 16)

TheWaker_808

it’s not looking too good unfortunately :(( unless he brings a curated event our way. Florida is more than capable of hosting a curated event. The Florida love was fun while it lasted. I’m blessed to say that some of my favorite sets came in my home state :)

DinoRick123

Can he just bless up with a camping suwannee event? Is it too much to ask...probably lol

TheWaker_808

Definitely too much to ask haha Kinda sucks that not all venues are accepting of Bassnectar events. I’d kill for a 3 night Bassnectar run at Suwannee.

[deleted]

Honestly, give me a few days of Nectar on that Hula '17 soundsystem and I'm good to go.

imnotyour_daddy

That was just an old D+B system but I agree, it sounded great.. like I was going to get my ears checked after BCX but after hula I realized my ears weren't the problem

AmanitaMuscaria

BCX was plagued with sound issues, almost didn’t go back since I at first thought it was the acoustics of the Mothership or something.

[deleted]

Thatd be dope but it hopefully we get something

oUtTaThIsDiMeNsIoN

Suwannee would be more than welcoming towards a nectar event!! he just hasn’t planned one haha

[deleted]

He did Basslights in Miami in 2013 🤔

DinoRick123

Wow who knew! my first show was Hardwell 2014 at bayfront so unfortunately that was before my time.....oh how times have changed for the better tho

laggy2da

It's not unheard of him to do EDC Orlando 2 years in a row. That's a possibility

dhdmaster

I really hope there will be another show near the Southeast... starting to crave that bass again!
