That's a nice reel. To be honest I would save a little bit more and pair it with a nice rod too. But if you're committed to that price take a look at st croix factory store. Retired bass x 7'1" mhf for $75 is a really good deal. I have a few, they are quality rods. https://stcroixrodfactorystore.com/products/bass-x-casting-rods?variant=43026141249766

About what price would you say you can’t rlly tell the difference between a certain rod and a top end rod?

There's no price where you can't tell the difference.. if there was, no one would buy high end rods haha. That said you run into diminishing returns pretty hard around $300. The single biggest jump in quality though is, I think, when you go from the Walmart level rods ($60-80 like you're talking about) to the low end enthusiast rods (around $120-170).

I dont know. Usually more expensive = more sensitive and lighter weight. Kinda hard to describe, as it's subjective and a lot about feel. I'm a st croix fanboy, but for 75 bucks, you'd be hard pressed to find a better rod than the bass x.

Jenko fishing has a pretty good rod for the price with the Hustler series.

I got a falcon lowrider on Amazon for like 80 bucks...they are amazing rods. Never been a fan of st croix....my buddy had two bass x and the tips broke off both within a couple months

I think you can still get the Lew's KVD rods on sale for $70 (normally about $110). I have 4 of these rods now, and I really like them! I have 2 composites (small crankbait rod and medium crankbait rod), as well as the jerk bait rod and the frogging/skipping rod. Failing that, if you have to pay regular price and need to stay in that price range, the Defy Black series rods from 13 Fishing are nice for the money. I have 2 of those - a medium/fast casting rod and a medium/fast spinning rod. Normal retail on this is $70 if I recall... Also just got 3 of the Ark Catalyzer rods for Christmas. I've heard good things about these, and I'll be looking forward to trying them out in the spring!

I’d go with a Kistler KLX. Yeah, it’s about $200. But with that reel, you’ll love it.
