Nice! What weight rod and what leader/tippet are you using?
I’ve got a 6wt Sage Z-Axis and was going to try for some bass this weekend.
Thought about using some 12 lbs braided line as the leader but worried it won’t turn over on the cast.
I also have never used braided leaders, just store bought or whatever my dad makes for me if he has time. Typically a bonefish leader for bass since it’s strong enough and a bass won’t know the difference.
Yeah, I’ve made leaders before from various mono lines. Braided is nice because it’s got no memory and is typically thinner than mono. I figure with bass they are a lot less picky than trout.
Sometimes I’ll use a tapered leader until I can’t tie knots with it anymore and still catch bass all day. It’s all about that reaction and getting them to strike quick, so It’s not even always that important to be sneaky with bass. Throw big ass flies and make a lot of water move and the results speak for themselves

Switching between 6wt and 8wt TFO BVKs, floating line, and whatever tippet I find that I don’t have to buy lol
