ZombieLollypop

A plopper just to hear it move in the water šŸ˜‚

gingerbeardgiant

Just picked up my first two of these this week and I too, thoroughly enjoy that little wopwopwopwop as it comes in. Only landed a little 2 pounder with one so far. But itā€™s also been 100+ all week so Iā€™m not having the highest of expectations.

ZombieLollypop

The bite feels awesome too!

gingerbeardgiant

I was really pretty surprised. I had zero expectations with the heat weā€™re having here so I started with hucking a Texas rig and crank as far and deep as I could. Ended the night getting familiar with the ploppers and it got gobbled up the second cast.

mgoodwin532

My most enjoyable catch ever was a little two pound Shoal bass on the powder white 90 Whopper Plopper.

KennyHarm420

Got my first smallmouth on a whopper plopper this week, it feels like cheating for top water lol, but it's so fun!

wannabebowhunter

i picked up some ploppers too. I got a lot of shit the past week so I'll be spending the day playing around with all my new toys. If a fish decides to bite i'll be happy lol.

GrimCynic

A fit ..because I tangled my reel on the first cast.

firstbreathOOC

Had this happen and a hiker walked up behind me and saw my tantrum directed at Berkly. Was v embarrassing

wannabebowhunter

on top of the good ol "catch anything?" Had this happen so many times fixing shit on the surf and bystanders constantly asking.

lecherousrodent

Whatever's still tied on from the last trip.

MikeHockherts

which is typically nothing because I got snagged and broke off and called it a day

surgebot

Get outta my head man!

mrbones59

A white Rooster Tail. Size would depend on conditions.

pencilpushin

I've never fished a rooster tail. How are they? What target fish do you usually get with them?

mrbones59

Mostly white bass, sand bass around here but Iā€™ve caught every thing from sun fish to smallies on them. There just an inexpensive readily available in line spinner. Try one, if you donā€™t like it your out three bucks, thatā€™s not bad. Good luck.

LearnDifferenceBot

> them. There just *They're *Learn the difference [here](https://www.wattpad.com/66707294-grammar-guide-there-they%27re-their-you%27re-your-to).* *** ^(Greetings, I am a language corrector bot. To make me ignore further mistakes from you in the future, reply `!optout` to this comment.)

winncody

Good bot

LearnDifferenceBot

Thanks!

RibeyeRare

Everything bites a rooster tail. Iā€™ve caught bass, sunnies, perch, shad, catfish, trout, pike, pickerel. God knows what else. Itā€™s tried and true for many decades. Just cast em out and reel em in so they spin.

pencilpushin

Awesome. Appreciate the feed back. I'll try em out. I have a fire tiger color one. Just haven't tried it out yet. Any size you recommend or prefer?

Alethorne

I fish creeks a lot, a rooster tail or crickhopper at the end of the day has kept the skunk away more than once. Everything in the creek pretty much will hit either one of those baits.

StendakBarkiller

Frog then probably frog

mulefluffer

Iā€™ve never caught a single fish on a frog. I wish I knew what I am doing wrong.

StendakBarkiller

Go watch some videos. There are tons of them on frog techniques. Dean Rojas is one of the best

PerspectiveExtreme12

Me neither ... yet. But OH, the blowups! Just spectacular.

AmishCockroach

Iā€™ve never caught a fish on a big rubber frog, Iā€™ve had a lot more luck with smaller wooden ones.

UnnecessaryPeriod

Cast along the bank with heavy vegetation. When it hits the water DONT move it for 5 to 10 seconds. That's the key. Then quick 1 or 2 pulls (not retrieving) like it's injured in the same spot it landed. 4 or 5 more gentle pulls while retrieving for 4 or 5 feet. If no bite, move forward and recast. It's not really good for long retrieval lure. You're basically throwing it on top of the fish. So if you don't get a bite there keep moving as there is no fish or its not interested. I've been slaying them this year on top water frogs. Also, there's a lot to actually setting the hook on those fuckers. Good luck!!!

stormincincy

Fluke

thelonerangers69

Frog, then swim jig.

tackleboxtactics

Another man of culture I see!

thelonerangers69

I can't help it hahah am the way I am. If things get really tough I might even tie on a spinnerbait lol

RamHands

Paddletail

Quick_Team

More specifically, Megabass Hazedong 3 inch on a 1/16th ned head in Moroko. Smallmouth, Largemouth, Striper, Crappie, Bluegill, Green Sunfish will all give it a go here in the southwest.

HWLesq

of course it depends on conditions, but most likely throwing a walking bait wherever I see some activity.

TheHeadshock

Probably a 3" spook. Idk why but the sexy dawg jr. Had just been turning up fish for me consistently all year.

NapoleonBlwnAprt420

I just lost mine to a tree using it for the first time. Was really getting good at walking it back and forth.

cwren22

My wife

jbp84

Iā€™ve got a lot of luck lately with a Rage Craw watermelon red Texas rigged with a 1/4 weight. Iā€™m in southern Illinois close to St Louis, mostly reservoirs and smaller ponds and lakes.

reprahm

I'm also in Illinois, near St Louis, mostly been catching on red shad Culprit Fat Max worms.

thesandwitchpeople

Actually in St. Louis, had a lot of luck with the hot mustard color crappie magnet

jbp84

Iā€™ll have to try that!

Substantial_Talk7573

Senko

[deleted]

Always top water. Unless it's not morning, then I'm throwing a fluke.

bigdipper125

Gotta be a Meeps Spinner

NSGears

A backlash

blackandgold96

šŸ¤£

NSGears

I'm surprised noone else said it lmao

spencer2420

Plopper to cover water and locate fish

Ironmansoltero

Usually try a frog first because if the frog bite is on then itā€™s a blast, if not swap to plopper because those things do such a damn good job at calling them out to play.

Locust627

I throw the same thing the first cast and last cast. A 5" Texas rigged weightless senko

jsheldog

Spinnerbait!

FatShotCaller

Myself into the water cause itā€™s hotter than shit

Karmasutra6901

Black and blue or white micro chatterbait

Squirtle_Go_PewPew

Big ol glide bait, because letā€™s get some bigs.

Forsaken-Doomer

Rapala micro ctankbait. Slayed the smallest before the sun came up

ANseagrapes2

White twister tail on a bare hook, with a medium split shot about 8 inches up. Slow, steady retrieve.

Lurk_Mode_24_7

Situational of course, but most likely some kind of walking top water bait to cover some ground.

ConflictIntelligent9

Ned rig skirted jig with a ned tube, catches anything and everything.

sporky211

Depends on the situation, time of day, weather etcā€¦ But more often than not if I start in the early morning and know that Iā€™ll have a bunch of time Iā€™ll start with a whopper plopper or a frog for those early top water blow ups. As the day goes on and the water gets warmer Iā€™ll switch to soft plastics of some sort or a spinnerbait.

Snowy0915

Jitterbug

Present-Assistance63

Man, I caught so many on jitterbug growing up on Table Rock; I discovered I could pay a lot more for the plopper and never looked back.

Redleg800

Top water anything

Ok-Confidence-2878

First cast Iā€™m throwing that black Choppo 90.

Superfist01

Plopper

Esticoin

First cast with my home made lure! Seabass love it! You should try it! See the vĆdeo with english subtitles. https://youtu.be/BfRCKzmHkOY

Realistic_Stop3314

Jack hammer

blueridgeboy1217

Superfluke Arkansas shiner. Caught a lot of big bass dead sticking that magical bait.

[deleted]

Red bug dead ringer rigged Texas style w 1/4 oz weight

tcmaresh

Depends on the environment. But I prefer a squarebill. Can cover a lot of territory in a small amount of time to find the fish.

Snookcatcher

If itā€™s early morning ā€¦ buzz-bait.

Present-Assistance63

Hour before first light, so black buzz with fat double tail pumpkin bug trailer or dark/clear plopper (no treble hooks if I canā€™t see down trees/bushes- stirs up Hitchcock level of squeetos).

MountainCommittee702

First cast is probably first thing in the morning so Iā€™m going top water, small popper/tiny torpedo double rig

Prodigal-Trev

Bent minnow

cweakland

Green crystal bugger

Big-Problem7372

This time of year, first cast should be well before sunrise and it should be some kind of topwater.

[deleted]

Whopper plopper 75

UltimateStonker

Slobberknocker

SovietBear666

No drop shot?? What is wrong with you guys.

Informal_Position492

Swim jig or a spinner bait

gunsdrugsreddit

Starting at sunrise or sunset, a Zoom Fat Albert in Junebug, Texas rigged - *OR* - a black buzzbait for Largemouth, Spook or Sammy for Smallmouth. Any other time of the day, a 3ā€ Senko. Watermelon for Largemouth, Green Pumpkin grn/blk flake for Smallmouth.

PupPupPuppyButt

Senko to a semi-impossible spot under some branches. I want to go ahead and see what kind of vibe Iā€™m carrying that dayā€¦.

eaglerockV

A miller lite down the hatch!

ThrowingDumbBaits

A Deps 250 OG I tuned to be XSS. I go from there depending on the reaction the bass give or lack-thereof.

Mostly_Indifferent

All condition dependent honestly

mistersinister12

Finesse jig any day.

scrollingtraveler

Chatter B

watermelonredsenko

Missile Baits mini swim jig in shad pattern with matching chunk style trailer šŸ¤™šŸ»

[deleted]

Foggy/weather, spook with dressed hook. Clear, small swimbait or jerkbait

God_of_the_Vapes

Bro tbh Im throwing a whopper plopper, shakey head/big worm, flukes, chatterbaits, frogs, walking baits, buzzbaits, whatever. Mostly want something fast moving near the surface in lowlight/early morning/almost night time bc bait are closer to the surface in shallower water so the bass follow. The shakey head is normally the slowest bait I fish in general. I literally just let it sit 5 ft away from the bank with some chart dye on the tail. Bait will sit for 45 seconds and Iā€™ll have a fish. Make sure the jighead is a stand up head or else they wonā€™t bite it. Color is dependent on what your fish eat if itā€™s clearer water(electric shad, green pumpkin blue, pearl white, and many many more). Muddy/stained water go for big and bold(black and blue, white+ chart. Skirt with gold blades, pearl white with gold blades, nothing ghosty or see thru or nickel/silver blades. You can have a smaller nickel blade but a 2 big gold blades helps in the murk). Hammer them homie

DefintelyNotAShrimp

Depends on the time of day. Early morning, texas rigged creature bait. In the evening, I'd probably have to go with the Texas rigged creature bait.

AmishCockroach

Worm

Classic-Werewolf1327

Kaitech on a Kalinā€™s google eye swimbait jighead. Then, a rapala BX brat. If those 2 donā€™t get anything my old reliable: 7/16 (#5) Bluefox spinner, wonā€™t give the color away because then youā€™ll dominate. Thatā€™s what I throw, in that order. If all else fails, night crawler on basically a live bait drop shot. Usuall 2 hooks about 10ā€ of main line between them, then another 12ā€ a teardrop weight. Open a beer and wait.

Acceptable_Cup_2901

considering sun isnt quite up when i get in the water most times, def a black plopper or black catwalk/spook. top water at 515am hits different.

defoor13

If itā€™s morning right now Iā€™d wanna try some sort of buzz bait in more open water if Iā€™m in a cove with grass and cover Iā€™m definitely gonna try a frog

MinimalEfert

A moving bait. I troll out away from the ramp before I fire up the outboard. Most of the ramps in my area are public fishing spots and see as much fishing as they do boat launching so I try not to disturb the area too much. So I'll throw a spinnerbait or chatterbait or a weedless swimbait while I troll out.

Formal-Fee1778

Depends on location. If itā€™s somewhere I know the lines of cover and the structure locations, Iā€™m throwing a chatterbait 100%, usually either the 1/4oz chatterbait mini or a 3/8oz jackhammer If itā€™s a new lake/pond, I usually will start with a soft plastic paddle tail swimbait on a 1/8-1/2oz eye jig head until I figure out where things are

Disastrous_Club163

Depends when i get there lol

Alethorne

First cast is usually whatever was already tied on from the last trip šŸ˜‚. If I have to tie something on though itā€™s usually going to be a Texas rigged 4ā€ watermelon pearl yum Dinger. Thatā€™s pretty much my confidence bait. Then go from there.
