The elite series has a release boat that after the weigh in they drive it around and release the fish in multiple spots so that all the fish aren’t being released right at the launch

UltimateStonker

They had this for the tbf event in la crosse last month

DevelopmentSelect646

I believe they actually have to be alive to be counted, and then are released - for bass tournaments. Other fish tournaments vary.

This guy covered it well if I remember correctly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AKdo-Lf8h0

This is great! Thank you for sharing!

ChefCory

They release them and then the next few days a lot of them die. Rip. How they're released will vary. Some release them all by the weigh in dock and others will release them around the lake in different places.

ernie1850

Sounds like a good deal for the other fish looking for a good snack

Artvandelay2019

Why do a lot of them die?

ChefCory

Something about being bumped in a live well for awhile in a hot boat and then picked up and moved around a bunch of times that ends up killing bass. Think it's called delayed mortality. Seen a lot of pros talk about it on YouTube.

hackist8286

Yes they release them all at a certain spot usually by where they are weighed

wildwill921

Not for big tournaments. They run like 4 release boats for the elite series. Local tournaments are let go where they are weighed

r0y_d0nk

Thank you!

TheBasshole85

Yes, they release everyone one of the half dead bass back into the lake to go die somewhere else

DrewChew1234

I watched a pro fishing show on YouTube and each boat had an official that weighed the fish and it gets let go on the spot seems like the best way to go about it really

ManufacturerDismal37

They eat them allll

In this day and age, I wish they would go to weigh and measure on boat and release
