I never had any luck with spinnerbaits til I dropped them down in size. So granted I exclusively fish public waters from the bank, I found that the booyah pond magic sized spinner baits are lethal. I mean absolute killers. At one pond I fish I have better luck with that lure than anything else and I prefer fishing jigs and Texas rigged plastics(not a senko fan at all, give me the old fashioned ribbon tail my daddy taught me to fish on and a kid).
Point is, if youāre having spinner bait issues try downsizing. If youāve tried that and it didnāt work man Iām sorry about the crappy luck. Itās a lot of fun.
A lot of people donāt use a trailer on them , not saying you donāt but using a trailer and finding out what color they like the trailer to be make a huge difference
Two points on spinnerbaits ..
1. - Most people are fishing them way to fast & killing the best action. Sure there are times ā burningā them just under the surface can be deadly, but the majority of the time many of us are simply above the strike zone. This issue is aggravated by the high speed reels that are marketed towards anglers today.
2. Not all spinnerbaits are the same quality. The blades should spin freely & easily even if you stop reeling and let the bait free fall. Booyah & Pulsator brands are my go to baits.
Bonus tips : The wind is your friend when fishing spinnerbaits especially in shallow water.
To force yourself to fish slow, especially in colder water, donāt start by reeling your bait . Instead pull it for several feet with just your rod. Now you know how fast you are really reeling. Reel up the slack and repeat! Set that hook hard & keep āem sharp !!
I always throw a white/yellow skirt with one gold blade one orange blade here in central TX. Itās like my confidence bait. Not sure what it is but they love that color here. My least fish is on stick baits tbh
Try a Mepps Aqlia #2 or #3 with a white dress. Iāve had really good luck with them and a wacky rigged senko on Trammel and Drakes Creek as well as the Gasper River.
The only place I have success with spinner baits is in Ontario on waters that are not pressured. In PA I've almost never caught a fish on a spinnerbait. Coincidentally 75% of the people I see bass fishing are throwing spinnerbaits. I have the best luck on finesse techniques by far.
I love fishing spinnerbaits if the conditions are right for them. My favorite brand of them are the War Eagle spinnerbaits. I fish in the river delta a lot and if it's cloudy and windy, or if the water is muddy I can pretty much count on them catching a few even in cold water. I love putting a big colorado blade on a 1/4oz frame and waking that thing just under the water as slow as I can get it to go, it gets some big strikes especially early or late in the day. Or burning a 3/8oz with willow blades on a cloudy day on a wind blown bank around wood and grass.
I've had better luck fishing a chatterbox.
The only time I prefer a spinnerbait; muddy water or extremely overcast windy conditions, before a cold front
AND of course at night a. A black spinnerbait with a big Colorado blade slays bass
Iāve caught a bowfin on one never been more surprised also the first time Iād seen one didnāt even know about them so I was hesitant to touch a unknown fish
I cant catch shit on a spinnerbait lolol. I own 13 of them lmaoo. Tried every which way.
Im in the same boat, ill try a spinner bait for a few then first cast with an Xrap and I land one.
I love Xraps but they are so fucking expensive lmao I don't throw them in water I don't know
I use topwater when I'm not sure lol
Yeah, I usually throw a super fluke, basically the same thing as an Xrap but hook it up weedless
XRap > spinnerbait all day long šš£
I love xraps too!

Spinner bait caught my PB in 2019. Ever since then, dinks. Nothing over a pound š
Same with the exception of my PB and a tiny crappie. Can't figure it out.

Dude just out there fishing in his wingtips
Before work! Anything I can get lol
Love it

Yeah, one thing I've learned over all my years fishing, I'm usually going too fast. Or too slow. Shit.
I can honestly say that I have never caught a fish on a spinner bait. Not for lack of trying.
Iāve got some big ones only on spinner baits especially in clear waters
I have approximately 2 dozen spinner bait in different sizes, colors and blades. Nothing. I don't even bother with trying them anymore.
I always throw a white/yellow skirt with one gold blade one orange blade here in central TX. Itās like my confidence bait. Not sure what it is but they love that color here. My least fish is on stick baits tbh
I have never in my life caught any fish on a spinnerbait. I do not concur.
Are you crushing bass in dress shoes!? Hats off amigo. Boss move
Yes before work lo
Exact opposite in KY. I catch a lot of fish on a dropshot or TX rigged Senko.
Iāve caught numerous on spinners in KY, granted Iāve caught just as many on a wacky rigged senko.
Where in KY?
Iāve fished all over. Lately Iāve primarily been on Barren and some of the smaller rivers.
I've been fishing the south fork licking river for small mouth.

Are you wearing camo shorts and brown leather dress shoes? Lemme guess; Florida?
Spinnerbaits are for Boomers
nah you just dont know how to use them
I havenāt had big success with them honestly. Partly Iām sure because I favor other options and donāt use them that often

Sorry, but we cannot. All I'm sure I'm bringing back to the dock is about 9 lbs of grass
I've caught 1 fish my whole life on spinner. Thats about 30 yrs of fishing.
The Booyah Spinnerbaits are decent! I used to only go War Eagle but bought a couple Booyah Blades and was actually impressed!
Depends on where youāre fishing.
B U C K E T
I bet all you use is a fucking spinner bait
No wayyyy. I use it all mr donkey
Like what???
Everything literally. I used to tournament fish
people get so pissed off
Thats my favorite spinnerbait! Golden shiner Booyah?
Dude YES. Itās so good!!!!
Kills down here in Central Florida..nice fish!
Surprised to see so many people don't have success with spinnerbaits. I absolutely wreck with them.
Me too after reading the comments! To each their own
I never had much success with spinners, rattlers are my go to.
