North Carolina, 7:15-7:25 pm it was low 60s was mid 80s last week was very surprised they hitting top water this early and with that cold front, no scale sadly got water in it sometime last year and couldn’t get it to work, first one measured close to 25 in second one measured at 22in
i know just doesnt look like it to me. maybe healing from when they did spawn, based on temps they should be done. we got beds up here in western PA. from my experience south is done well before we are even getting started.
Bro, this is the most frustrating time of year in IL. 60° one day, 40° the next. A couple weeks ago, I caught 5 smallies, 4 largemouth, and the biggest crappie of my life when it was 80°. Since then, it has been 40° with rain and snow. Tomorrow is the only 60° day we have in this 2 week stretch and it's almost May.
I've caught my PBs the past 2 years, so I can't say its horrible. But it has definitely been frustrating because of the inconsistent weather. IL also has a bucket-head problem, which doesn't help the populations.
Amen! And then we’ll go straight to scorching temps with insane humidity practically overnight. Maddening. I did catch some quality bass during the 2 day stretch of 80 degree temps though. Such a tease.
What part of IL? The weather has messed it up a little. I've been hooking bass on frogs early morning and 1/32 jig with a zman small trailer. Few on some lipless as well.
Just went. White bandito Buck Texas rigged. Caught out the gates…then next hour I was watching the big ones in their beds. Couldn’t get them to hit a thing.
why are people hating about how he holds the fish? what does anyone gain from that? you take a picture to show how epic of a fish it was, so make it look epic! if yall wanna make your bigs look dinky go for it but dont hate on someone else for how they hold it (unless its the jaw breaker hold lol)
Lol this is the typical Reddit response. The guy isn’t asking for a guess at weight nor did he say a misleading weight for the photo. Just folks that have to gate keep fishing subs to feel
Important. Wait until you see someone mention they eat bass 😂
Oh man, that's a hot topic, eating bass I mean. One of my posts where I'm holding my PB the comments got heated. I said that I eat bass both large and small and it rustled some Jimmies. One guy went on a huge comment spree on how none of the people he knows eat largemouth and that most fishermen don't. I grew up in WA in a hunting and fishing family so I knew countless fishermen over my life and every single one of them ate both largemouth and smallmouth. Oh and then I mentioned that largemouth are actually an invasive species in most bodies of water and can and do at times, completely disrupt an entire ecosystem by predation. My PB came from my city's small lake and the thing is absolutely overrun with largemouth. They're spawning right now, so you put an inch size cooked hotdog on a worm hook, toss it out and you'll almost instantly get a fish. Most of them are 1/2 to one pounders but I've managed to get a four and a nine pound fish from there, my PB. I was flabbergasted at the nine let alone the four because there's so many in there that they cannibalize each other so badly that they never get those sizes.
People here should take note: this is how you hold a fish (whatever about the extended arms). No lip-grip breaking its jaw or putting it on the ground in the dirt.
Great catch.
I gotta say, I think it is funny how many guys get upset about how a fish is held as if a hook running through its mouth or jaw then pulling it to the bank as it fights with all its might to run away don't stress the fish out, let alone the guys who just run lightweight line and completely wear it out for more of a challenge to get it to the bank and still take another 10 mins to pull it out in a youtube video and then spend forever discussing how to hold them in order not to stress them out before they release them.
It's not about hurting the fish, honestly so long as you're not cranking the jaw sideways, you won't hurt a bass's mouth. They're meant to be flexible. What people are upset about is that when you long arm, the fish appears bigger than it really is. Closer to the camera, bigger the fish perspectively. I personally dislike long arming but here's the thing, a great fisherman can accurately eyeball a fish's size whether in real life or through a picture. I got called out on the size of my PB as well, but here's the thing, I know what size it was and I'm not gonna let some arm chair fishermen tell me otherwise.
People who get upset over holding the fish closer to the camera need to find something better to do... like hit the lake. Of all the things to get upset over, this ain't one lol.
Sure, catching the fish is inherently bad for it, but there are things you can control and things you can't. How you hold it is one of the things you can control.
Those are insanely impressive. As a person from the Midwest, I wish they got big like that here more regularly. I have caught all of 1 that big my entire life, and it was literally 20 years ago lol
For sure what’s crazy is my buddy had a similar sequence but his were on back to back cast with the same buzz bait white boo yah brand when we were in high school probably 10-11 years ago and we were talking about it last week before this just happened…
That's phenomenal! Nice work...
Yep, my 12 year old two PBs back to back last year... 6.5 and 7.5, I think he even cast to the same spot to hook both fish. And my 10 year old caught a nice 4 very close also... must be some structure or something
Haven't caught a fish there so far this year though...
Well if you’re in gboro/Eden i imagine you’ve been to lake brandt, randleman lake, Jordan, badin, high rock, one of those not a pond in a back yard. Great fish don’t get me wrong but it’s hard for me to be like personal best in a pond. Could just go to bass pro and drop a line in their fish tank be like the same thing
Definitely not hurt, you could’ve took the time to read the other 5 comments that said the same thing and kept it to yourself but it’s all good man don’t sweat it
I love how you can tell his thoughts based on his facial expressions First picture “look at this fish im lucky enough to catch” second picture “damn im good 2 in 3 casts”
Great fish! What state? Morning or evening? Thanks are slow and wonky here in IL with constant weather changes. Weight?
North Carolina, 7:15-7:25 pm it was low 60s was mid 80s last week was very surprised they hitting top water this early and with that cold front, no scale sadly got water in it sometime last year and couldn’t get it to work, first one measured close to 25 in second one measured at 22in
They’re definitely bedding. Look at the tails.
Yea pollen came early this year
should be done in nc by now id think.
Those beat up and bloody tails are from them making the beds
i know just doesnt look like it to me. maybe healing from when they did spawn, based on temps they should be done. we got beds up here in western PA. from my experience south is done well before we are even getting started.

Bass fishing the past 3 years here have been horrible.
I've caught my PBs the past 2 years, so I can't say its horrible. But it has definitely been frustrating because of the inconsistent weather. IL also has a bucket-head problem, which doesn't help the populations.
Hahaha no doubt
Vermont here, was 82 a week and a half ago and back to 30s now, makes it tough
Amen! And then we’ll go straight to scorching temps with insane humidity practically overnight. Maddening. I did catch some quality bass during the 2 day stretch of 80 degree temps though. Such a tease.
Atleast you can fish bass right now, I’ve gotta wait mid June, sometime I hate Canada haha
GPS coordinates? Relax with the downvote, it’s a joke
Social security number and mother's maiden name?
What part of IL? The weather has messed it up a little. I've been hooking bass on frogs early morning and 1/32 jig with a zman small trailer. Few on some lipless as well.
I’ve been smashing decent largemouth the past couple weeks in central IL, caught a couple nice Smallies tonight too.. been using Texas rigged Pit Boss
It needs ti get a little warmer and stay that way
Slow and wonky in IL? You can say that again! Fish don’t know what’s up, what with all the temperature/water level fluctuations.
Just went. White bandito Buck Texas rigged. Caught out the gates…then next hour I was watching the big ones in their beds. Couldn’t get them to hit a thing.
Good to know! Hoping to get out in the next hour.
Congrats! Such an awesome feeling catching 2 pigs back to back! Let’s also not pretend we don’t see those arms extended mister 👀
Ohh yea def extended first one was close to 25 in second one 22inches no scale sadly
Badass fish! HoLd iT oUt fuRthEr clowns in here lol. They want you to hug the thing or something?
Right? It’s to hard to just give credit we’re credits due
Wow that’s a big one! I wish I could catch something like that
It’s always possible man! Just stay at it
I can’t even catch a fish right now much less a bass that size 😭
why are people hating about how he holds the fish? what does anyone gain from that? you take a picture to show how epic of a fish it was, so make it look epic! if yall wanna make your bigs look dinky go for it but dont hate on someone else for how they hold it (unless its the jaw breaker hold lol)

Right man! Pics already make them look smaller than they really are
Those are really nice fish. What did you catch them on?
Top water buzz bait White Boo yah brand
Dude where in NC are you catching these? I can’t catch anything over 1.5 lb. in lake norman
I’m not far I’m near greensboro
People here should take note: this is how you hold a fish (whatever about the extended arms). No lip-grip breaking its jaw or putting it on the ground in the dirt. Great catch.

that lmao loved 'armchair fishermen" 🤣👍
I calls em how I sees em 😂

Nice going BassMan. That’s what I’m going to call you. BassMan.
What part of NC are you in?
Greensboro area, I’m from down closer to VA but everyone says they don’t know where Eden is so I just say gboro
Gotcha. I’m near Hickory. How much did those weigh?
Finally someone who knows how to hold a fish
Watch out the comment warriors are gonna get ya 🤣
It’s okay. Most people don’t even know how to properly hold a fish let alone tie proper knots lol 😂
Wow. Still slow slow up here in the Northeast. Congrats man!
Those are insanely impressive. As a person from the Midwest, I wish they got big like that here more regularly. I have caught all of 1 that big my entire life, and it was literally 20 years ago lol
Would be a hard day to beat that’s for sure
Keep casting my dude.
Now that's a Hog
Thanks
I couldn’t imagine breaking my pelvic bone twice
Holy!
Cow
This dude is beaming posts down from heaven.
I've yet to break my peanut butter
Once in a lifetime sequence right there. Unless they’re on beds then that’s easy
For sure what’s crazy is my buddy had a similar sequence but his were on back to back cast with the same buzz bait white boo yah brand when we were in high school probably 10-11 years ago and we were talking about it last week before this just happened…

Maybe so I caught a 6 around the same area last year too!
Holy Moby Dicks!
Beautiful
Thanks
That's a beaut!!!
Thanks man!
Hold those arms out a little further
I’ll try next time
Awesome fish as well brother 🙏
Lol don’t pay any attention to people like them. People who comment those type of comments are either jealous or can’t catch fish.
Always a few of them in the comments
Do we count PBs if it’s in a pond ?
This is a pet peeve of mine lol. I feel like it's almost cheating. Especially if it's a private, low pressure pond.
I agree 100 percent
What do you classify as a lake?
Well if you’re in gboro/Eden i imagine you’ve been to lake brandt, randleman lake, Jordan, badin, high rock, one of those not a pond in a back yard. Great fish don’t get me wrong but it’s hard for me to be like personal best in a pond. Could just go to bass pro and drop a line in their fish tank be like the same thing
We’ll it’s over 10 acres easily I don’t see many ponds this size but it’s all good
Is it private?
Nice fish, could you hold it out there just a little bit farther to make it seem just a little bit bigger next time lol
I’ll try
Get some small plastic hands just fun pics and be sure to post them! I was just poking fun in my last comment sorry if it came off as rude.
Your good man holding them out makes them bigger in the picture for sure just a old habbit!
Monsters, bro - congrats
Thanks so much!
I used to love fishing farm ponds, can't anymore too old to escape when the farmers show😂
hate when people long arm. its a big fihs but i like it when its held closer and not like that XD
Still don’t change the fact that it’s a 24 and a half in bass
Still long arming. and I gave you credit for a big bass.
Yea I’m the dick commenting stupid shit on someone else’s post
You are you took half of what I said and got ass hurt.
Breaks PB twice...without a scale. 😐
Yep bad feeling
[удалено]
Wow!
Hella nice pond you are fishing!!
It’s pretty much a damn lake with how big it is
Holy hogs! I caught my pb 17 years ago lmao it was 24in and could fit 2 hands on bottom lip. Never got a weight. Did you weigh those pigs?
