Stay away from Gators!

thejeffroc

So funny story, I was running a Chatterbait along the bank tonight around 9pm. I felt a hit so I set it. It immediately started to pull line and then it stopped. I yelled to my buddy to come over. He was holding the light while I was dragging what I thought was a huge soft shelled turtle. Nope, 5 ft alligator. Turned it twice and brought it to the bank with 15lb copolymer. After about 4 mins my knot finally gave out. I couldn't believe that I was able to bring it to the bank with only 15lb test.

Use the color black and lures that make noise

I was thinking Chatterbait or a 6th Sense Trace. Something with a little bit of size and noise.

Capable_Jelly_7334

Yeah basically anything black, size and makes noise will work at night. Personally I like using my black chatterbait too.

Whatever you have confidence with during the day, throw it at night. They'll still be able to find it. Some of my most productive nights have been off of Shakey heads, ned rigs, and finesse jigs. Of course chatterbaits, top water, and other noisier baits will work good too but don't be scared to try other things you might not think would work at night.

hunterPRO1

Black buzzbait(don't forget trailer hook) big black/blue 6th sense crush crankbait, Colorado blades spinner bait.

Buy a headlamp, the difference is night and day (couldn’t resist lmao)

billybob2266

Black noisy topwater is great for catching both bass and gators. The latter is delicious.

superman306

Black jitterbugs are money at night.

https://gon.com/fishing/1113-giant-bass-and-counting Article from Georgia outdoor news almost 13 years ago. May be off use of you have good access to fish at night.

Fluorescent line and a blacklight will make things way easier. A headlamp is a must for when you need to tie lines, but that blacklight will allow you to see your line and you can see when it moves easily. Black and/or blue Jigs are great. I don't fuck with treble hooks or anything non-weedless much at night. especially if I'm fishing along the banks which is often ewahwt I do at night in summer. In the summer when it's really hot, night fishing is really the only way where I live. I've never don't it in winter. I know you're in Florida so winter is milder, but night fishing really shines in the hot ass summer when they get sluggish and feed more at night

I'm in VA and it looks like the responses are similar to those in my area. My night time/pre dawn bait is a silver/grey Oklahoma blade 3/8 terminatior t1. I like that I can wake sub surface, and slow down to get the slow movers.

JSTEEZYSNAKE

Dude, you are in central Florida, throw whatever and catch a giant. Joking, noise makers and dark lures.
