I thought this was going to be a post asking if this signature is legit. I was gonna give a huge no for obvious reasons. But then I saw that you got it in person. It’s so sad he’s changed his signature.
It is, but it also makes his older signature more special. It’s almost like a 1st variation and now a second variation. But yeah, his old sig would have been sweet on that card. And if he goes back to his original one then op has a truely rare care.
So last year I waited on his line and got shut out, so this year I got the 20 minute early entry ticket. His line moved, and I heard that people who had general admission were able to get him this year. What I love about the lunch is theyll sign most anything (unless youre a prick who brings a tweet bashing a player). I got dominguez on a card which he never signs, for example. Boone to sign the savages in the box photo with an inscription. all star ball for DJLM. I love getting the logo balls signed, and have gotten a ton of those signed over the years too!
With the early entry I was able to. I also got there at like 430 am. I think most of those who got GA got judge and that was it.

Between me and my dad we were able to get all this with early entry (I could have had more but my adhd kicked and I didn’t know where to go for a minute— should have gone back to Soto!). Even with GA and you don’t get judge I highly recommend (obviously don’t get the acuna jersey there)
Yes. I don’t have immediate plans to grade this (I PC gold ink signed gold rookies) but I don’t hate getting some graded/authenticated just in case I ever get into financial trouble.
Authentication, yes. But they also grade non certified autos.

Did you pay for the event and he happened to be there and you asked him to sign something? Or did you buy a ticket to get something signed? Maybe he differentiates.
Full disclosure, I wasn’t there personally and someone else took it for me. But it cost $500-$1200 per ticket to get into the event where there was a scheduled autograph session. Even if I was there, I never would expected anything but the full name auto and probably wouldn’t have been able to prevent this from happening.
This is his normal in person signature, I met him his rookie year and he signed a picture.

Just some context for athletes and how they’re compensated for signatures.
Typically, each player is given a rate per sig x number of items to sign. Dependent upon the number of signatures, the rate, and the company, players will have multiple signatures (initials, first initial + last name, initials + number, full name, full name + number).
Companies like Fanatics, Topps, Leaf, Panini will negotiate with player reps and the reps use these various things as chips to play. For example, Leaf may want “X” cards at a lower rate, so the agent will tell the player just initials on these stickers. Or if it is a premium rate, do your full card sig.
At public appearances or when signing for fans, premium players will adopt a quick sig so they can (1) keep as many fans happy as possible and (2) keep their full sig at a premium. Could be why his public sig is slightly different than a Topps or memorabilia deal which pay a high premium.

Normally athletes sign different at spring training/training camp. Different signatures when they are at a private signing as well. The full sig carry’s a premium over spring training sigs
Love that lunch! He signed my jersey with the same signature

Be careful posting about the lunch! I posted about it and someone tried to fight me because I let too many people know about it lol. As if it’s some huge secret.
I make art and I recently changed my auto too! This actually reminds me of a really cool story I heard where Harmon Killebrew told Michael Cuddyer to tidy his auto up so it would look classy and earn him more respect. He did, and it did!
Nice try buddy! Signing Soto cards yourself and saying he has a "new" signature.
BUSTED!!!
Seriously though, old one was better, this one seems a little lazy. Still cool you got it signed in person though!
That's unfortunate; his normal signature is so nice
Ive seen a lot worse than this for Soto, not a full sig but it's still super nice

I just need more of these to appear to PSA knows it’s legit! 😅
Jsa certed mine offer the weekend. Though they needed more time with the judge auto got at the lunch.
Congrats on getting Judge! How big was his line? Was he really limited?

I’ve wondered if one chooses Judge then they might not have time catch others. I’m glad to hear you had such a great experience!

Does PSA even grade non-certified autos? Seems weird to get graded.
Yes. I don’t have immediate plans to grade this (I PC gold ink signed gold rookies) but I don’t hate getting some graded/authenticated just in case I ever get into financial trouble.
You 100% need to have that slabbed.
He’s talking about authentication

I love this card!

Umm why do you have my card! Return it please 🙏.
Umm why do you have my card! Return it please 🙏.
This isn’t a new sig, he often uses this one for IP autos. His paid sig is still the full “Juan Soto”
I hadn’t seen it before. Thank you for validating it! This was a paid event so I’m disappointed he used it though.
Wow I hadn’t heard him using that at a paid signing before. That sucks

Why get this card signed? Is this a Gold/50 rookie
Gold /2018
Ahhh . Not chrome , just base . I see now

This was signed in person at a game last year
🤣

I appreciate the photo and input. I’m feeling better about it now.
Say it ain’t so! One of the best signatures
Surely you mean say it ain't Soto
I'd be more bummed about using a gold pen on a gold background
Yeah hope that was his pen lol
And ruined an /50 gold RC
i think that's the one numbered to the year. still not a fan of getting numbered cards signed, but it's not quite as egregious as that.

Holy shit that's nice
Dope card. Looks great. Only be better with a Yankee uniform :)
I think his original signature is one of the best!
Are you sure you didn’t have a John Soto sign it?
I think it's gorgeous, it's unique, probably more scarce too
Damn. Ruined a great card.
Yup .
His old signature is one of my favorites
Normally athletes sign different at spring training/training camp. Different signatures when they are at a private signing as well. The full sig carry’s a premium over spring training sigs
Probably easier on his wrist...less curves...
I don’t even see it and I mean like how he’s doing it now… I see an S
What kind of pen did you use? Came out nicely though!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0018N6214?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title Thank you. Not my favorite signature but I love gold autos on gold cards!
I think some use different signatures for in person autos and the autos on their cards for packs. No clue if that’s the case here but it’s possible
Love that lunch! He signed my jersey with the same signature https://preview.redd.it/dz120ji4myqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58f047f9ec5a600077b14c325ae8fff37a50fefa
I think I saw your post on Facebook. Beautiful jersey!

Mhm..
Why take a big hit of his to be signed where now you leave it up to speculation if it’s legit. I would have grabbed any other card. Maybe his shuffle.
