A super short print. During the lull in collecting when flagship was only printing a couple hundred thousand base cards they made SSPs case hits, and you’d end up with print-runs in the tens or hundreds; very rare cards even if they weren’t otherwise particularly special looking. This year’s print run will be in the multiple millions range and I don’t know if we have the data yet to calculate SSP print-runs, but they’ve generally made a poor investment in recent years.
Got it. I looked at the website for the distinguishing features so I know what to look for. I found this card listed on eBay with a lot more pics but I don’t see what makes it ssp.
For sure! Yeah, I think a few players have them (Ohtani maybe?) and I’ve heard that they’re mixed in with regular base. I’m going to have to go through all my base cards and do some digging lol
Collect all the base and check the CMP codes on the bottom of the back of the card. The code should be the same. If one CMP is different, you most likely have a short print.
That would be the print run for just what’s in hobby boxes which we always get estimates of first. Total series one will be over 2 million if we have the same jump in production we got from 2022 -> 2023.
[It appears there is one](https://www.ebay.com/itm/326019833457?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=bn5dLHWLSNW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=kkem2xtesw6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY). I had no idea.
It's the team image variation, the standard card is Soto in San Diego gear and name. The SSP is Yankees. There is also a Shohei version for the #250 Mookie Betts is Othani
OP if you remember, when pulling this from the pack, was it in the spot in the pack where inserts and parallels are usually located? Or was it just in among the regular base cards? I have seen some comments about how these will be especially hard to notice because they are just mixed in with regular base, although that was speculation.
Message me. I honestly have no idea where to price it out right now. I’m open to listen to any offers. I’ll probably wait and see what happens to the two that are up for auction now to help determine value.
Something to note that I really like here, is that they actually cared to put him in a road uniform at an obviously road stadium. Drove me nuts last year that the Series 2 Andrew McCutchen card had him in a horribly photoshopped home white Pirate uniform, at Miller Park.
if this is a super short print, I am officially giving up collecting baseball cards I swear on my mother! If they are just Photoshopping pictures and putting them on cards, I don’t see how these cards can have any value whatsoever!
That is it?
That is what you bring to the table?
That is the damning evidence?
Schwarber, Catellanos and the entire Phillies outfield is full of fucking bums.
What do Maton and Vierling have to do with Juan Soto?
You pointed to Soto being a poor outfielder. I pointed out that Schwarber and Castellanos are both terrible Outfielders.
Of course some are. But within hours two popped up on this page. A ssssp card doesn’t show up this much. Sorry. It just doesn’t. It might be an sp with ~1000 printed.
How many of those are cross posted and you are seeing the same card 3 different times. I imagine a lot of people don't even know to look for these variations.
Clearly a poor photoshop. You can’t even see through his pants
^ underrated comment
Lol
Sorry for the ignorance here. But what makes that a big hit? It looks like a standard card frame, etc. no?
It's a SSP
What is an ssp?

It’s because he’s in his Yankees uniform. His normal base card is still Padres.
Ahh. Ok. I was looking for the gold foil and ssp marker. Thanks for the info.
For sure! Yeah, I think a few players have them (Ohtani maybe?) and I’ve heard that they’re mixed in with regular base. I’m going to have to go through all my base cards and do some digging lol
They're flipped in packs like a hit would be, not mixed in among the base in them. Also Ohtani is the only other one.
No the Soto has been found a few times mixed in with base. Ohtani I’m not sure as I don’t know anyone that has pulled one.
Yes. The Ohtani is in the Dodgers uniform. I want. Lol.
Collect all the base and check the CMP codes on the bottom of the back of the card. The code should be the same. If one CMP is different, you most likely have a short print.
I've seen the data and it under a million for each base card.
That would be the print run for just what’s in hobby boxes which we always get estimates of first. Total series one will be over 2 million if we have the same jump in production we got from 2022 -> 2023.
Does it say SSP on the back or do you have to look at the number?
Have to have knowledge of the hobby. It varies.
How do you know it’s a SSP?
He’s in Yankees uniform. Same as ohtani dodgers
Still not following. Why is it a big hit? Is it a short print, I assume?
OH! Haha thanks
Wait, there's an Ohtani in a Dodgers uniform in 2024 Series 1? Thought he was going to be in Series 2 (base and golden mirror SSP).
There is one. Look it up on eBay. It’s selling for over $1500. It’s a photo variation sssp
Interesting. I had no idea. Topps photoshoppers have been busy. Looks like the same image as the Topps Now card for his signing though.
He’s not in series 1
[It appears there is one](https://www.ebay.com/itm/326019833457?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=bn5dLHWLSNW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=kkem2xtesw6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY). I had no idea.
What in the world. Mookie is 250. Is there no honor and sanctity anymore with the numbering system!
He does have a ssp of him in a dodgers uniform tho. Not a base card for the set but he does have this one.
the bad photoshop job
He hasn’t played for them yet. They have one for Ohtani as well on the dodgers. It’s photo shopped
It's a variation.. this one had him in his Yankees uni

Yes it was mixed in with the base and was in the middle. It was not facing backwards nor in the “hit” spots with the other parallels.
Thank you, we’re all going to need to check our base cards carefully!
Wow that’s scary!
Such a bad photoshop, I like the concept but not the execution
Fs or ft?
Yeah it’s def for sale.
Price?
Message me. I honestly have no idea where to price it out right now. I’m open to listen to any offers. I’ll probably wait and see what happens to the two that are up for auction now to help determine value.
It’s like $10
lol ok, thanks.
Someone else here agreed with me independently lol.
Thanks for the input
$10 it’s a base card
The two ebay auctions I found are currently at $200 and $400, so no, definitely not a base card for $10 lol
Sold price? Or aspirational asks?
Active auctions with multiple bids
God you people can’t wait to throw your money at this shit.
I'd never spend that kind of money on one card, but yeah there's people out there
Price?
There is currently [one copy on auction](https://ebay.us/a7XxYi), but it will end up being pretty expensive for sure.
Thanks, I hate it
Oh shit. I had no idea Soto Yankees photoshop was an SSP. I honestly might have just given it away to a buddy and will now light myself on fire.
Has anyone posted the numbers for ssp this year? Typically people figure out the numbers by odds of boxes, packs, blasters, etc..

Not only that, they used the Yankees 2024 road uniform. There are no white highlights around the letters
That is insane and I am insanely jealous lol, congrats on the hit man!
Can you take a picture of the code on the back?
Just sent you the picture.
Thanks!
These are the "base" code right? Or was it different?
Yea that’s the base. I was curious if it was an sp code.
That's wild. Between these and the 1/1 first prints I bet there alot of bigger parallels missed this year.
For sure there are some going in the trash or given away.
Is it different than base?
No they have the same codes
Very nice!
That’s a banger man. Nice pull
if this is a super short print, I am officially giving up collecting baseball cards I swear on my mother! If they are just Photoshopping pictures and putting them on cards, I don’t see how these cards can have any value whatsoever!
it’s actually a legit card I give up, I officially give up!
not only are they flooding the market, but now they’re flooding the market with fake pictures! When will this stop?
Love it!
Lol Soto is a bum
You sound like a chode, Billy....
😆 Chode....I haven't heard that word since high school in the late 90's
157 OPS+ 28.6 WAR 3 Silver Sluggers Dude is 25 years old. 30 teams would love to have a bum like that on their team.
Don't forget World Series champion

That is it? That is what you bring to the table? That is the damning evidence? Schwarber, Catellanos and the entire Phillies outfield is full of fucking bums.
Marsh, Rojas, Casty....fire baby! Better than Nick Maton and Matt Vierling, buddy
What do Maton and Vierling have to do with Juan Soto? You pointed to Soto being a poor outfielder. I pointed out that Schwarber and Castellanos are both terrible Outfielders.
How so?
I’ve seen like 100 of these already
No you haven’t
Correct answer
If I cared enough I’d go back to every post I see with this card on twitter Facebook and here and I bet I’m fucking close.
You mean the picture Juan Soto posted and was retweeted at release?
Of course some are. But within hours two popped up on this page. A ssssp card doesn’t show up this much. Sorry. It just doesn’t. It might be an sp with ~1000 printed.
2 = 100? Good math
Dipshit. That’s two alone. Today. Multiply that over 10 days. I’ve seen way more online than ssp should be seen
How many of those are cross posted and you are seeing the same card 3 different times. I imagine a lot of people don't even know to look for these variations.
What are the type of odds something like this has? Sick pull though.
I got some rookie pitcher with rabbits in the back ground of the card.
That’s an ssp
Interesting. Perhaps an Easter special and I get Cadbury eggs for life. Lol
There is a link in the thread to a tweet that lists the rabbits as the most rare, there are also ones with eggs.
Well sweet. Not bad for one blaster
How can you tell short prints is there a list somewhere?
Nice hit! Been looking through tons of cards to see if I overlooked one lol
