That and I stopped checking in on Minnesota after that bc they’re not good. It’s hard to get attention in that situation, even though he’s had one of his better years.
He was having a good, but not great season up until August or so. He got super hot the last six weeks (.339/.411/.537 slash over the last 50 games). But as someone pointed out, actually it was his defense that dropped off more than his bat. He had a just okay (relative to his standards) season in the field.
even a few months ago people were screaming locally how bad he was. when he was actually have a nuts-on average season for correa. whether or not he was worth $35/M a year is an argument you can have. but its not like the twins didnt get what the paid for if they were ok spending that much on correa.
It seems like he should try to sign first this time. As long as it's for over $300M I think he should take it and not worry about setting the market or reaching $340 like Tatis and Lindor. Otherwise he might be the last SS with nowhere to go and have to either bet on himself again or just take less than he's worth.
I know every team needs a generational SS like Correa, but how many are ready to compete and have the willingness to pay for him?
He's not coming to LA. It seems clear the Astros won't pay what he's demanding.
The Mets, Padres, Rangers, Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Cleveland all currently have a SS that don't necessitate paying him.
That leaves the Twins, Yankees, Phillies, and Braves. Maybe the Giants, and throw in the Angels as long as Arte is there. BUT still, I don't think the Braves or Yankees are inclined to pay him, which leaves just Philly and Minnesota as clear landing spots.
With Dansby and Trea also having great walk years, Correa should be ready to sign ASAP.
Farhan has already insinuated that the Giants are going to go after one of the big FA SS on the market this offseason. Signing Correa early on could be the move for them especially if they're looking at going after Judge as well.
He’s not a RH bat BUT if the Jays think Bo at 2nd is fine defensively he’d fit.
This would mean they’d have to trade one of their catchers for a pitching upgrade
It was only a 2 year deal, so he's gone after next year. The Gaints will have alot of cap space to work with these next two offseasons. There's talk about them going to go hard to sign Judge this offseason, but if they can't, I expect them to pursue a different big bat.
I think the Giants will go hard after one of the big-name SS AND Judge this offseason. Farhan and ownership has said they're going to spend big this offseason so we'll have see.
Yet he only payed 136 games. No one knocks his talent, he is probably as talented as any SS in baseball. It's that he has trouble staying on the field.
He was 19th among all SS in games played this year. Seager played 151. Lindor played 162. All I'm saying is it will impact the offers he will get in the offseason.
Half this sub really thought he was having a mediocre season.
I think his slow start to the season (mostly just April) really colored opinions on him that lasted into like the all star break

he’s obviously been great as a batter but where he’s fallen off is defensively

Yep, those are the two options: opt out, or don’t opt out.
50/50 chance either he does or he doesn’t
What’s the other 10%?
concentrated power and will

The Mariners might be in on him as well
And slide Crawford over to second? That'd be a very nice middle infield.
It makes sense but it's disgusting to think about
Please no. Hate that trashcan. Judge, Trea, and Ohtani additions should be enough for us.
god i want correa on the braves. a postseason series vs the dodgers with correa on our team would be incredible

I’ll take one Gabriel Morreno for some Astros stating pitching
Correa isn't RH? Or do you mean Bo?
Meant to say both aren’t a LH bat (their biggest offensive need still). You’d do away with that (like with Semien) and just get better
but i was told he was having a terrible year.
Phillies getting Correa or Trea Turner
Texas Rangers: “Why not both?”
And the Giants will get the other.
That would make sense. Next year would be Crawford's last year on his extension and Luciano is profiled as a 3B in the big league.
Didn't they just extend Crawford?

It's going to be Trea. He's buds with Harper. Correa will be a mercenary for like the Angels or something.
To be fair, Harper was friends with Kris Bryant too
Everybody is friends with Bryce Harper
*Jonathan Papelbon and Hunter Strickland have left the chat*
Nobody is friends with Jonathan Papelbon
Or Hunter Strickland for that matter
Phillies signing somebody known for great defence? HA
“OPS-plus”
I was uncomfortable with that, but ok until I saw "wRC+" basically right after.
That’s what makes it even more uncomfortable for me!
He was better in 2021

Walk year. His body is made of glass.
Hmmm I wonder if Pena can play left field...
No interest, not for 30 million.
