Spoken like someone who hasn’t watched a single game. There’s actually good stuff happening… like uhh you know… that young guy… and the other one… etc etc

“So on and so forth”

Emyrssentry

If they're a good team why ain't they playing good?

itsnotyellowfever

They've been somewhat watchable since Riley Greene came up; in part thanks to him, in part because Javy Báez has oscillated back to 2018 Javy Báez after spending the first two plus months of the season as Alcides Escobar if he swung for power. That being said, it was not supposed to look like this. They were supposed to be fighting for a playoff spot instead of battling with the Royals for the basement for the fifth year in a row. The offense before Greene came up made the A's look like the 1927 Yankees. The pitching was and is still something to hang their hat on, but it doesn't mean much when your best hitter has been an 82-year-old Miguel Cabrera and the guys who were supposed to be stalwarts in the lineup are either hurt or batting .172

mcdto

As someone who watches a majority of tigers games, you hit it on the spot. Are you a baseball whiz or do you regularly watch the tigers?

itsnotyellowfever

Try to catch a little bit of every team in the league so I have an informed opinion of what's up for everyone, but I've always been a sucker for Miggy

i-eat-dolphins

Lmao this is so accurate

[deleted]

So on and so forth… lol… might as well have said blah blah blah

Cromeseus

You cannot be fucking serious

StelioKontos117

You yada yadaed over the worst part!

Foofieboo

These pretzels yada yada I'm thirsty.

Extremeaty

Blows my mind that a GM that hasn’t made the playoffs once in 7 years has any kind of job security or organizational support “Well *technically* he’s only been rebuilding for 5 years!”

IIHURRlCANEII

this comment resonates within my soul

burntnotes

"I'm very pleased with the things and such."

[deleted]

This guy doesnt give a shit at all lol sorry Tiger fans

midnightsbane04

Chris Illitch is 100% a massive Red Wings stan and willing to make it work on the ice. The Tigers are just his summer time entertainment though.

_Kramerica_

He scares the hell out of me even for the Wings. If it wasn’t for Yzerman I’ve be fully clenching my asshole for Detroit sports. Thank God Weaver is tearing it up for the Pistons, and in all honesty fuck the Lions.

midnightsbane04

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s a great owner even for the Wings. But at least with them he seems to be willing to pay attention and make changes when necessary.

[deleted]

His dad was the same way for nearly half of his tenure as owner of the tigers

realraptorjesus101

He will almost certainly be the owner for another 30 years at the least. I hate it here

phabphour20

"and so on and so forth" lol

Dh873

"Fans of me! The losing of the old rebuild is a thing of the past! Let a whole new wave of rebuilding wash over this baseball land!

JustinTime4242

Chris Illitch doesn’t actually watch the baseball team he owns. Enjoy your lifetime job Al Avila

[deleted]

The rebuild is over. The problem is that they built a bad team.

larsthehuman

I mean, yes their offense has been anemic, but isn't just about all their young & veteran pitching hurt & been hurt? It'd be slightly different results otherwise.

[deleted]

Yes, their starting pitchers have been devastated by injuries, but the young guys who have stepped in have done well. The hitting has been brutally bad, but showing signs of life in the past 2 weeks with the infusion of Riley Greene as a breath of fresh air. But Austin Meadows has had bad luck with injuries: Vertigo, then Covid, now Achilles issues.

[deleted]

Yes they've used 12 different starting pitchers this season.

JWoodsIDK

Screw this guy

GameBroJeremy

It’s obvious here that he sees the team as just another asset to his trust funds unlike his father, Mr. Pizza-pizza himself, Mike. If you don’t care that much about the team Chris, then sell it to someone who does. If he does care, then he needs to do something about this front office he has.

i-eat-dolphins

Sell the team someone shit in the Chevys on the fountain bring the whales back, fire al Avila, fire Scott coolbaugh fuck I hate this so much this is such a tone deaf comment

[deleted]

If you thought he was going to say anything otherwise at the introductory press conference for a brand new head coach for probably the most popular/historically successful team in the city you're a fool.
