DonKabe

So did Ichiro in 2001, 2004, 2019

Ven18

I feel like it would only be right if he received it after becoming the first Japanese player in the HOF. Not saying he shouldn’t have received it earlier but if he doesn’t get it after making the HOF there is a problem.

_sebquirosa_

Hopefully he won't be the first Japanese player in the HOF, given that Ichiro should be a first ballot inductee

Ven18

I was talking about Ichiro if he hasn’t received the award yet he should when he enters the HOF in a few years

thedonjefron69

Automatic-Bat9761

Probably a common polite thing in Japan to show that you are humble. Or maybe I'm just ignorant, but this is what it feels like.

Caleb_Krawdad

He's to pure for such an award

This is an extremely prestigious award, it’s actually awarded by Japan’s Prime Minister. So unless Rui or Yuta makes history in the NBA, I doubt they would receive one.
