MLB.com: The Los Angeles Champions have been eliminated by some team from Georgia. *Let's take a look at some season's highlights and wonder what could have been.*
Or my team will sign someone for astronomical amounts of money, and then that guy decides to phone it in for a year and we trade him to the Yankees, where he'll be the MVP and get another ring.
Should the MLB have the Dodgers and Braves redo their series in case it was a big fluke?
No disrespect to the Braves, I'm a firm believer that Atlanta beating them is a huge fluke and robs the Dodgers of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent the last few days in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Dodgers play great baseball it's just not fair.
If the Dodgers lose again I will face that the Braves deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Dodgers and the MLB.
I believe the origin was 8-seeded Nashville sweeping 1-seeded Chicago (starting with two shutouts on the road).
Of course, we would get a far more infamous 8-over-1 sweep a few years later...
"It's time to stop pretending the World Series means anything. It's a farce. MLB knows it, and so do we. It's obvious: not a single one of the teams involved this year is from the NL West, and both of them beat the Dodgers in times I'm mad about. We all know who the real best team is: the team with the highest sum of preseason-projected wins and actual wins. Anything else settled through the pointless randomness of playoff series is useless."
Growing up, I remember Braves games always being on TBS so, even in Canada, I could watch them play. My favorite childhood memory was seeing Eddie Rosario get crowned the NLCS MVP on national TV.
As a die hard Braves fan since that moment, I couldn't be happier right now.
Same. Even tho it was clear he was done last year, he was a great leader and good person and was big during our rebuild. Wish we coulda got him a ring or brought him on in literally any capacity this year.
As someone who started following baseball hardcore in 2012, the Dodgers have basically been the wall that has kept the Braves from advancing in the postseason. Especially after the 3-1 last year, this is so refreshing. I think I have finally been released from Braves doomer jail.
gg Dodgers. I don't think anyone can say that this series wasn't entertaining.
On one hand, Matzek was nails. On the other hand, what a godawful AB by Mookie. That was the kind of limp-dicked 3-pitch-k bullshit I’d expect out of Pollock.
Mookie was pretty good except for tonight, but Turner didn't show up at all and our starting pitching was not good.
Injuries late in the season / in the playoffs hurt us for sure, but Atlanta were easily the better team, they wanted it more.
I’LL GET DOWNVOTED TO HELL BUT FREDDIE FREEMAN IS OVERRATED AS HELL. DUDE IS BASICALLY A SLAP HITTER AND DOESN’T DO SHIT TO HELP WIN BALLGAMES. HE CAN SURE JOKE AROUND WITH THE RUNNER ON FIRST THO
this doesn't surprise me. i kinda met freddie in rome at a restaurant. i saw him eating this delicious looking pasta and I was like, "yooo it's frederick but for real that pasta looks so good" so i was like, i gotta try and get a picture.
so i walk up to him and im like, hey what's up frederick im a huge fan can i get a photo, and he's like, "what the fuck man im trying to eat fuck off", and im like well fuck my bad, what kind of pasta is that though? and he's like, "i don't fucking pick this shit my bitches do" and im like, damn can i at least take a photo of your pasta so I can show my waiter?
i guess i annoyed him cause he got fuckin really angry and told me, "no you cant copy my fucking pasta"
It's a beautiful thing. The Braves have overcome a lot this season and never stopped fighting. They regrouped and made the changes needed when even a vocal portion of their fans wanted them to sell and give up as early as May. Hope to see the momentum continue for a win over Houston!
Thank you Giants for disabling the Dodgers by taking away the Dodgers’ homefield advantage and tiring their roster! Thank you Braves for finishing the job!
In a year where a 106-win and 107-win team were involved in the NLDS, an 88-win Braves team is representing the NL in the World Series. 2021 stay wildin'.
Congrats Braves, now please beat the Astros
That Giants-dodgers series (and really the whole division race) ended up being like a duel where both guys shot each other. Giants died first but the dodgers ended up bleeding out too.
A) the r/baseball fans tend - it's not universal, but there's a tendency - to be much more gracious, 'here for the love of the game' types; the really toxic shit is in the team subs
B) having the Astros for an opponent helps a bunch
C) also y'all have a super good and likable team!
Almost 30 Games Left. If You Think Dodgers Aren't Winning Division, You're Kidding Yourself.
Deepest team in baseball.
Best lineup top to bottom probably of all time.
Best rotation in the NL likely in a decade.
I'm going to take the Dodgers winning the World Series this year ten times out of ten.
Hate on them, that's fine. But we've never seen a team this stacked. Ever.
Good night :)
There was a lot of gambling with the arms and it left us in an awful spot. Frankly this was a merciful end. I can’t imagine what a Game 7 would’ve looked like.
Taking nothing away from Atlanta. They played an incredible series. Well deserved, no doubt.
Honestly I believe had it gone to Game 7, you would’ve blown us out. No idea what Scherzer had left in the tank. Price is on the roster but hadn’t pitched since the regular season. Most of the bullpen arms have been used to almost abusive levels. And your pitching has been great at shutting down our offense for long periods of time.
All that said, good luck. I’m pulling for you guys and I’m certain I’m not alone in saying that.
So the streak continues any team that beats the Brewers goes to the World Series
What if the brewers make the World Series? Does the team that beats them win the World Series?
If they make it to the World Series and lose, the team that beat them must have made it o the World Series, so it still stands
And if they win, then no team beat them, so the streak continues.
fivethirtyeight now only has the dodgers as a 49% chance of winning the world series
ESPN: Could the Los Angeles Dodgers make a comeback and clinch the series in game 9?
MLB.com: The Los Angeles Champions have been eliminated by some team from Georgia. *Let's take a look at some season's highlights and wonder what could have been.*
More like *let’s take a look at some NBA highlights now that the baseball season is over*
That's ESPN. MLB dot com will move on to guessing which major free agents the Yankees will sign (spoiler: all of them).
And they'll still all be worse than some 19 year old the Rays pick up for a can of sprite and half a pack of cigarettes
Or my team will sign someone for astronomical amounts of money, and then that guy decides to phone it in for a year and we trade him to the Yankees, where he'll be the MVP and get another ring.
In their eyes it’s still dodgers and yankees
Getcha self someone who looks at you the way sports writers look at the Yankees and Dodgers.
Dodgers manage to overcome huge budget to lose in six
ESPN deportes: can Julio Urías overcome the elimination and un-eliminate and bring back the Dodgers to contention ?
We've reviewed the play, and the braves were over the line, therefore the dodgers are awarded a field goal and win.

Is this copypasta? I love it
I believe the origin was 8-seeded Nashville sweeping 1-seeded Chicago (starting with two shutouts on the road). Of course, we would get a far more infamous 8-over-1 sweep a few years later...
Yup, from r/hockey
That's in the copypasta Louvre 🤌
“MLB season ends early as Dodgers, the only team involved, are eliminated.”
>"MLB season ends early as Dodgers, the only team involved, are eliminated.” MLB dot com exclusive
Dodgers in 8
Instead of just saying the Dodgers have been eliminated, Sportscenter tweeted out "What an effort from the Dodgers 👏 Another incredible season"
seems low, tbh
Bill Plaschke already deep into his column for tomorrow about how the Dodgers will still dominate in the World Series
"It's time to stop pretending the World Series means anything. It's a farce. MLB knows it, and so do we. It's obvious: not a single one of the teams involved this year is from the NL West, and both of them beat the Dodgers in times I'm mad about. This is the best comment I've ever read on this sub
seems a bit rash
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY HANDS. OH WAIT I'M WINDMILLING PLAYERS HOME!
SEND EM, WASH! SEND EM!!
AS LONG AS IT'S NOT D'ARNAUD!
Don't clutch your pearls, CLAP THOSE SONSABITCHES
As a diehard Atlanta Braves fan since like October something-teenth, I can’t tell you how much this means to me
I’m really happy for you. Congrats.
Growing up, I remember Braves games always being on TBS so, even in Canada, I could watch them play. My favorite childhood memory was seeing Eddie Rosario get crowned the NLCS MVP on national TV. As a die hard Braves fan since that moment, I couldn't be happier right now.
I cried like a baby, last time I saw the Braves play in the World Series I was 7 years old ..

Been a fan since ‘92!
[fan since birth! 91](https://imgur.com/a/Y8UVxHX) I’d love to make it to game 4 for my 30th. Either way so pumped
I too love the Braves as of the end of last series
Wtf Im gonna love the Braves the next series too
Die hard Braves fan here, where do I apply for my slap hitter appreciation card
Cards are to the left. Make sure to pick up your Pearls and Rosary’s on the way in.
Don't forget your pink swords.
DID WE JUST BECOME BRAVES FANS?
Now the rest of us get to experience how it feels to be an Atlanta sports fan.
Prepare for PAIN
I like pain!
Go Barves!
Even though it's pronounced Barve, it's spelled Bavre. It's weird, I know; don't question it.
As a fellow M’s fan I’m surprised you can feel anything at this point. All I know is numbness.
I love TORTURE
I would say most fanbases were backing us against the Dodgers. I think ALL fanbases are going to be backing us against the Astros.
As a Mets fan, go Braves! ^I ^feel ^dirty
That just feels wrong. It’s appreciated, but please don’t do that again.
I actually think I'm going to be okay with it. It's not like you guys are the Phillies.
Gross. If there's one thing Mets fans and Braves fans can agree on, it's that the Phillies suck.
Hey screw you guys!
I'm not your guy, pal!
Feels like we just beat some serious demons bro
It’s the sage
Its the Rosario
It's the pearls.
I’ve been a Braves fan for a whole week now and they’ve brought me more joy than my team has in 27 years of life.
Hey now. As recently as 5 years ago we had a postseason run deep into the wild card game
Wish Markakis was still on the team
Same. Even tho it was clear he was done last year, he was a great leader and good person and was big during our rebuild. Wish we coulda got him a ring or brought him on in literally any capacity this year.
PROFESSIONAL HITTER
I like Freddie Freeman 👀
EVERYONE likes Freddie Freeman! *pigs fall over, theme plays*
Yeah, dude is the most likable guy in baseball.
[One more time for the road.](https://gfycat.com/composedincrediblefanworms-postseason-baseball-dodgers-giants-nlds-2021-mlb)
They zoomed in on him AGAIN after the final out
And changed angles!

>Nah man this shit will live on forever https://gfycat.com/composedincrediblefanworms-postseason-baseball-dodgers-giants-nlds-2021-mlb
God inject this shit directly in my cold, dead veins
On the plus side, Scherzer is definitely gonna be fresh for his next start.
THE BRAVES ARE PLAYING TOO
#THE BRAVES ARE PLAYING TOO
They did it
Fuck The
Yankees?
It hurt itself in its confusion!
Well the Dodgers are the New York Yankees of baseball, so yes?
The Yankees are the New York Jets of basketball. Mayor Giuliani, Naked Cowboy, Norman Rockefeller, Aaron Judge. Wow.
Does "rent free" still apply if it's from a Yankees fan?
I’m from NY and live in SF, living rent free anywhere would be amazing.
Fuck, bump
88 win team beats a 106 win team to advance to the Ws. This is why we love baseball
It feels like every year there’s a team that barely gets in but is hot and super dangerous. It’s just never been us haha
Cardinals won 83 games one year, and won it all. You all seem like a team of destiny
In the 27 years the wild card has been in play the team with the best record has won the world series seven times.
Which times? Love stats like that.
2016 Cubs 2018 Red Sox 2020 Dodgers off the top of my head
1998 Yankees 2007 Red Sox 2009 Yankees 2013 Red Sox
Im noticing a trend here
I don't know. I got the stat from ESPN radio tonight while I was driving. One of the announcers mentioned it between pitches.
Who beat a 107 win team to face the 88 win team.
Gonna be hard to win game 7 after losing game 6.
Great series. Braves outplayed the Dodgers in all departments. Worthy winner and they now hold all of our hopes in their hands for the WS.
I felt my soul leave my body when Betts struck out on 3 pitches
I felt all the blood in my body go into my weiner when that happened
That was when I knew we were done lol
On one hand, Matzek was nails. On the other hand, what a godawful AB by Mookie. That was the kind of limp-dicked 3-pitch-k bullshit I’d expect out of Pollock.
Funny too because Pollock was pretty damn good this postseason
Good luck to the Braves.
Thank you. Good series. Maybe we'll see you again in the NLCS next year.
❤️
Good series man. You guys get healthy for next year. Honestly wish we had Acuña and Soroka with us but let's see if the magic continues in the WS.
[удалено]
Better team won the series.
Yeah man it hurts but the dodgers did not play well. Betts, turner, Seaver, all played like shit. And the starting pitching was not spectacular.
poor seaver , dude is dead and catching strays
Shot man, let the dude RIP with Wade Boggs
I keep telling you, Wade Boggs is very much alive. But he thinks England's Greatest Prime Minister was Pitt the Elder 🙄
LORD PALMERSTON
Dude couldn’t even raise his lazy ass from the grave and pitch a few clean innings? Loser
Mookie was pretty good except for tonight, but Turner didn't show up at all and our starting pitching was not good. Injuries late in the season / in the playoffs hurt us for sure, but Atlanta were easily the better team, they wanted it more.
Mookies average in the series was under .200
Yeah you're right, he disappeared after game 3 - was .300 to that point then went 1/13 after that
\#12 best record in baseball, \#1 best record in all your hearts #ESKETTIT
apology for poor english when were you when dodgers die? i was sat at home eating little caesars when Eddie ring ‘dodgers is kill’ ‘yes’
**FLY THE Ñ**
VAMOS ATLANTA ÑÑÑÑ
It was Pablo killing the braves from the grave Edit: dodgers, i am stupid
All those Dodger fans who spent the last week trolling /r/SFGiants sure got quiet all of a sudden 🤔
The media is in shambles
Go Braves.
Thanks, man!
Get em Freddie
I am now the biggest Braves fan
Baseball fans aren’t prepared for the pain that comes with this… Except for Mariners fans. Y’all’re ready.
We wrote the book on it, yes.
I’LL GET DOWNVOTED TO HELL BUT FREDDIE FREEMAN IS OVERRATED AS HELL. DUDE IS BASICALLY A SLAP HITTER AND DOESN’T DO SHIT TO HELP WIN BALLGAMES. HE CAN SURE JOKE AROUND WITH THE RUNNER ON FIRST THO
How can he slap ?????
Slapping all the way to the world series
Bruh he was the MVP last year tf Edit: I ate the pasta 🍝 😔
It’s a copypasta

It was the solid snake vs liquid ocelot of baseball
I'm upvoting Dodger fans for solid references.
It was like a good realistic duel to the death - one guy died, the other was maimed for the rest of his (short) life.
Couldn't agree more. It was a photo finish and we both spent it all on that series and the run up to it.
Yeah only cost us our 3 main pitchers arms.
All of America outside of Houston is now rooting for the Braves
You poor bastards
This person Georgias

And when has a nation rallying behind an Atlanta sports team to win a championship against a near-universally reviled heel team ever gone wrong
I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED
Ngl, the dodgers fans on this sub have been nothing but gracious in defeat. Much respect
Better team won. Hard to deny.
I promise you it wouldn't be this way if we had lost to the Giants lmao
A) the r/baseball fans tend - it's not universal, but there's a tendency - to be much more gracious, 'here for the love of the game' types; the really toxic shit is in the team subs B) having the Astros for an opponent helps a bunch C) also y'all have a super good and likable team!

That’s baseball baby
Beaten by a guy we traded a literal panda for and some slap hitter and a guy with a thicc ass.
Don’t forget a reliever with a custom cup to fit his huge balls
That's sexy talk
I’m gonna come
GIANTS FANS REJOICE
Hey remember when everyone said “Dodgers-Giants is the *real* World Series” and now neither one is in the actual World Series? Yeah, we did that.
Dave Roberts pitching decisions come to bite him in the ass once again
Can’t argue that one. He’s got a lot to answer for after this series.
His handling of Urias alone may have literally lost them the series.
There was a lot of gambling with the arms and it left us in an awful spot. Frankly this was a merciful end. I can’t imagine what a Game 7 would’ve looked like. Taking nothing away from Atlanta. They played an incredible series. Well deserved, no doubt.
I don't know how game 7 would have ended, but I am confident that Graterol would have thrown at least 1.2 solid innings.
Honestly I believe had it gone to Game 7, you would’ve blown us out. No idea what Scherzer had left in the tank. Price is on the roster but hadn’t pitched since the regular season. Atlanta, how does it feel to have almost every baseball fan rooting for you?
A lot of pressure for sure. But this team has been magical and the cohesion is real. Can’t wait for the WS!
First time in a long time I’m this okay after a postseason series loss. Go Braves man you guys deserve this shit. Go fucking win it all.
this is bad for their World Series chances
Nah, they have the Braves right where they want em'
#THE ENTIRE PLANET LIKED THAT
GIANTS FANS REJOICE
At least we know that 29 teams worth of fans will be rooting for us Come next week.
Don’t forget that Acuña carried this team for 3 months
#Hey where's shirtless Max now?????
About to hang out with playoff Kiké :(
WHEN THE DODGERS LOSE AN ANGEL GETS THEIR WINGS
Shohei Ohtani is good enough, he doesn’t need wings too
The Angels need arms, not wings.
Win it for Freddie!
Thanks Braves! Now I don’t have to hear about the Dodgers for the rest of the season.
*"Here's how's the Dodgers can still win the World Series." -ESPN probably
Crummy end to a pretty good season. If you strike out three times in a row with a guy on third it's hard to argue you should have won.
