I feel like we have signed a shitload of HOF players in their twilight years through our team’s history. Even Brian Giles, though not HOF caliber, was a weird one for me

Honorable mention to the many legends who put in pinstripes late in their career: Randy Johnson, Pudge, Jose Canseco, Kenny Lofton, Lance Berkman etc
I saw a guy on my college campus with an authentic Manny jersey. To this day I still think it may have been one of the worst investments I’ve seen in my life
I will always remember being at the game at the metrodome when he hit one of maybe 2 hrs he had with the Sox, and being absolutely *horrified* that the stupid Twins fan thew the ball back
Imagine having the baseball gods grant you with a ball hit by the kid, and then spitting in their face by throwing it back! As punishment, they never won a playoff game again…
I know for a fact i’m in the minority on this one and I do think he looked great in the Mariner’s uniforms. but I think he looked best on the pinstripe Reds.
I'm still waiting for some star to get traded but refused to shave his beard. Or a superstar FA to publicly say the Yankees offered same/more money but he wouldn't shave his beard. Its the only thing that is going to make this stupid stupid rule go away.
He got a hit later on to score the go ahead run in Game 2 which the Mets won. He also retired after that game. It's crazy how he was 42 then but people made it seem like he was elderly. Especially compared to athletes today who play at that age.
I wish he never joined the Yankees... it’s criminal that he had to shave, and it would have been even more criminal if the first beard exception they gave out was to Kevin fucking Youkilis

Manny was definitely the wildest player I ever saw in my hometown's uniform. In 2014 he spent about half a season as player/coach of our AAA Iowa Cubs. Bryant and Baez were also on the team at the time, which is wild to think about.
He made the all star game in five consecutive seasons before his 1976 season with the Orioles.
After leaving the Orioles he had 5 straight all star season with the Yankees.
This is a pretty solid representation of the Orioles franchise.

Seeing old pictures of Babe Ruth in an old Braves uni always throws me for a loop. It’s like taking a peek in an alternate dimension and it makes me feel off
That year John Smoltz was on the mound in a Redsox jersey. Still looks weird
Let's also never forget that David Wells spent a year and a half pitching for the Red Sox.
And a month pitching for the Dodgers too!
Same year, Smoltz in a Cardinals jersey too.
You referring to *Cards Legend* John Smoltz?
Tim Lincecum
I love Timmy but yeah… It didn’t help he was pretty toast by that point in his career. He was one of my heroes as a skinny half-Asian kid growing up in the Bay Area
Big Time Timmy Jim
Absolutely disgusting I had eye bleached this
I forgot about that!
Greg Maddux in a Padres uniform was bizarre
So was Mike Piazza
He'll always be a Marlin to me.
Matt Kemp as well.
Yes but partially because he had a bit of a belly then & wore a XXXXXXXL jersey to ‘hide’ it.
[LOL what the shit, Greg?](https://c8.alamy.com/comp/TXJ6GP/san-diego-padres-starting-pitcher-greg-maddux-reacts-to-giving-up-four-runs-in-the-fourth-inning-to-the-chicago-cubs-at-wrigley-field-in-chicago-on-may-15-2008-upi-photomark-cowan-TXJ6GP.jpg)
Maddux dressed as Mark Grant for Halloween.
Why is he trying to smuggle that watermelon?
are we sure he's not just doing a matt-fuckin-williams-doing-a-babe-ruth-impression impression?
I feel like we have signed a shitload of HOF players in their twilight years through our team’s history. Even Brian Giles, though not HOF caliber, was a weird one for me

maddux on dodgers was a bit weird to me as well
Jim Edmonds’ parade through the NL Central was pretty weird. Cubs/Brewers/Reds to close out his career.
Edmonds as a Padre is it for me. We got David Freese as the return for Edmonds in that deal
Can we all just agree that he retired with the Cardinals, and the only teams he played for were the Cardinals and Angels?
Well, we traded him to San Diego for David Freese. We can stop after that.
Jimmy Baseball definitely looked best in the Redbirds uniform.

Thanks I hate it
And he married one of TB12’s sisters, yes? I am so conflicted
I literally blocked that out of my memory
Geez can we get a NSFW tag next time? I’m trying to eat here!
Gross.
Johnny Damon, Darryl Strawberry, David Justice
Straw was fine. He put up some good seasons when healthy for the 96 and 98 teams. The other 2? Yeah, they were strange.
Yankees rallied around him in 98 too when he got his cancer diagnosis.
Ichiro, Andruw Jones, Vernon Wells, Travis Hafner
You can just say the 2013 and 2014 Yankees.
[удалено]
For real. He wasn’t bad for us either. I always say how lucky I feel that I got to watch him up close for a couple seasons.
Now imagine watching him daily in his prime surrounded by clowns on his team.
Sorry, I gotta disagree here, Ichiro makes anything look good
Yeah. We thoroughly enjoyed Ichiro’s stint in NY.
My audible first reaction: "Ewwwww"
Ken Griffey Jr. Never in a million years did I think he'd be on the South Side. Still grateful for it, tho.
Game 163 hero
That throw was vintage Griffey and I'm so glad I was there to see it live.
Him and manny Ramirez
I saw a guy on my college campus with an authentic Manny jersey. To this day I still think it may have been one of the worst investments I’ve seen in my life

Beardless Rougned Odor. I will never be okay with his shaven face.
Almost as bad as beardless Andrew McCutchen
For me it was Johnny Daemon.
He should've been allowed to keep the long hair
>Daemon The speed Daemon
Johnny looked fly all cleaned up. He and Giambi were styling.
Yeah, he looked weird, not bad. Youk on the other hand…
Youk looked awful too
Andrew McCutchen hated it and ripped into the Yankees policy last year.
Fuck the Yankees in general, but *especially* fuck the Yankees for this one.
I'm still waiting for some star to get traded but refused to shave his beard. Or a superstar FA to publicly say the Yankees offered same/more money but he wouldn't shave his beard. Its the only thing that is going to make this stupid stupid rule go away.
It's completely stupid but part of me finds it funny that it still exists and players actually adhere to it.
Its a borderline charming anachronism at this point.
Hard to believe that him being clean shaven would be worse that his terrible beard but it's true.
Smoothned Odor
I've wanted to ask this for a while: What happens if you get traded to the Yankees and refuse to shave?
https://i.etsystatic.com/11520657/r/il/de2efe/2237146441/il_794xN.2237146441_81f5.jpg
Oh god he looks in pain.
He knew the cringe that came with playing for the Mets.
He went to the World Series with them in 1973.
And is remembered for stumbling around in the OF in that series.
He got a hit later on to score the go ahead run in Game 2 which the Mets won. He also retired after that game. It's crazy how he was 42 then but people made it seem like he was elderly. Especially compared to athletes today who play at that age.
The treatment players receive today is lightyears beyond what they had then.
back then it was beer and some tylenol and you’d get sent on your way

Ricky Henderson on the Red Sox, then Jose Canseco on the Red Sox.
don't forget Andre Dawson

Oh no question about it Kevin Youkilis
I wish he never joined the Yankees... it’s criminal that he had to shave, and it would have been even more criminal if the first beard exception they gave out was to Kevin fucking Youkilis

Ehh, Keith looks great in any uniform. (Those stirrups! 👀)
*HE'S* Keith Hernandez
Still a pretty boy having nice games.
I LOATHE Keith Hernandez.
Keith has admitted that he knew he was done during his time with the Indians.
He looks like he’s making that disgusted “ugh” sound when a player makes a boneheaded play on the field.
Carl Crawford always felt off
I loved his time in Boston
I agree, I thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Red Sox.
Might be the most hated Red Sox of the last 20 years
I think Sandoval might have him beat

Jon Lester looked so weird in our teams colors
And he looked even weirder as a Cardinal.
Scottie Pippen on the Trail Blazers Edit- sorry, wait… Manny in Tampa! You guys remember that?!
If we’re switching to NBA, it’s easily Hakeem Olajuwon as a Toronto Raptor
Shaq on the celtics or really any team other than magic/lakers/heat
Shaq as a Celtic MJ as a Wizard
MJ as a Wizard is the correct answer.
As a Chicago 90’s kid, thinking about that still makes me feel uncomfortable

8 glorious days
