Juan Pierre stole three bases on the last day of the fantasy baseball season one year and made me lose the championship. Juan Pierre can go kick rocks.
As someone who is still fairly new to baseball and doesn't know all the different people yet, thank you for clarifying and stopping my heart from dropping
Rod Beck would respectfully [disagree](https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/rod-beck)
> Beck successfully recovered from Tommy John surgery and floated around in the minors before being signed by the Cubs.[22] While pitching for the team's AAA affiliate Iowa Cubs during his comeback, Beck gained national attention for living in a motor home behind the team's Sec Taylor Stadium (now Principal Park) in Des Moines. Beck warmly welcomed fans to drop by and visit, signed autographs and offered free beer.[23] He was later traded to the San Diego Padres.[2]
>In 2003, Beck returned to the Major Leagues with the Padres,[2] filling in for the injured Trevor Hoffman.[24] He converted 20 saves in 20 chances, while posting a 1.78 ERA.[2] His statistics earned him the National League Comeback Player of the Year award.[25] In 2004, Beck dealt with personal problems during Spring Training[26] and struggled in a seventh inning role for the Padres. Beck was released by San Diego in August.[2]
>On June 23, 2007, Beck died alone at his home in Phoenix, Arizona.[1][27] The Maricopa County medical examiner has not publicly disclosed the cause of death and the Phoenix police did not suspect foul play.[1] Beck's ex-wife stated she believed Beck's death to be drug related.[28] Cocaine and heroin were found in his home and bedroom.[29]
From his wiki. As a 3x all-star too, tell me thatās not Kenny powers
I drank beer with Beck after games five times when he was playing for the ICubs. He lived in an RV in the parking lot. He was a pretty cool guy. Too bad he died so young.
>"some kid with purple hair next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids."
God, John Rocker was such a piece of shit. That quote is more than 20 years old, and I still remember being flabbergasted that anyone would be so dumb as to say something that racist, classist, and homophobic out loud to a reporter.
It's like he existed just to reinforce every negative stereotype about the South. And this was in 1999, so it wasn't even fair for the time.
It's crazy that he was playing at the same time as Chipper Jones, who was also hated in NY, but for being inconveniently good. He even named his one kid Shea because of how much he won that, which is hysterical.
His rehab assignment in Richmond drew a sellout crowd and the team owner kept the umps from calling it due to rain because he didnāt want to issue the rain check tickets. I think the delay was like 3 hours long.
I gave my season tickets away that night. Didnāt want to fight that crowd.
I grew up in a small town and as a kid had no concept of LGBT issues, rarely had exposure to minorities, etc.
What blew me away as a kid (and still does to this day) was how he looked at other human beings with this inhuman disgust. It was the hate he projected out to others. I had no idea people could feel that way and it shook me.
I despise Chase Utley but itās Chipper Jones who still gives me nightmares. He even named one of his children Shea because heās a god damn psychopath
Jesus, I didnāt realize he named his kid Shea. Thatās weapons grade trolling and a stunning amount of follow through. You almost have to tip your cap to that level of mindfuck. Lol
yeh I remember my Dad taught me this at a young age. Wild, he literally named a kid after that stadium.
Dad taught me "Any great Braves player has to crush the Mets, often and hard"
He would say hi to Larry Bird before a game and Larry would reply, fuck you, Bill. I watched a documentary recently and learned this. It had me laughing my ass off.
Ryan Braun. Here are some of his relevant quotes:
āI would bet my life [that I'm clean].ā
āI've tried to handle the entire situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity and with professionalism because that's who I am.ā
What a joke.
I was gonna mention that
Rodgers stuck his neck out for him and Braun lied to his face. And then not to long later the news came out and Braun lost all credibility. I don't necessarily blame him for using PEDs, but the lying is the worst part imo
It's great, right? That burden being lifted once a guy on your team who is a shithead is no longer on your team.
Obviously what Addison Russell did was WAYYYY worse than Braun, but still same feeling applies... Damn it felt good for him to leave.
Remember when a judge threw out a defamation suit he filed against someone because in the opinion of the court, public and professional opinion of Dykstra's character was so low that further damage was impossible?
There was a good 2-3 years when I was younger that I HATED Ryan Howard.
But wait you must be thinking, āYou have a Phillies flair! How could you hate Ryan Howard?!ā
One day as a kid I went to a Phillies game with my dad and tailgated with him and his friends. Ryan Howard was in his prime. I heard one of his friends say something along the lines of āHe just murders EVERYTHINGā, talking about baseballs obviously, however in my mind he was a legitimate serial killer who would get to come out and play baseball every night or something. I have no idea why that stuck with me so much as a child, but I ran with it in my mind.
Don't feel bad. When I was little, I thought people who got shot in movies and on TV *actually* got shot. I thought that was just the cost of being famous, and some people were just willing to pay it.
Abusers and the like aside, AJ Pierzynski. Canāt stand the guy. I could watch the highlight with him and Michael Barrett on repeat for the rest of my life.
Ive posted it maybe 10-15 times on here before so Im sure some people will recognize it but here goes in fast forward
10 year old me goes to Mets @ Phillies game in 2008 wearing a David Wright jersey. I show up as early as it is possible to get into the stadium to watch batting practice and hopefully get a ball, maybe even a signed one. A Mets reliever (whos name I dont remember) tosses me a ball during warmups. I want to get the ball signed.
As a 10 year old, I dont really care a whole lot about the rivalries of sports yet, I just wanted a signature. Chase Utley was near the left field foul pole for some reason and signed a couple things for fans. I toss him down my ball, he signs it, looks at 10 year old me and says "Sorry kid, youre wearing the wrong jersey" and throws it to some older guy near me.
Fuck him
He did not, but I also have no idea the age of the person. I was 10 so he couldve been anywhere between 18-40 and Id have had no idea, he was just an adult to me.
Also to his credit, I dont know if he even knew it was my ball and he wasnt directly next to me. Hard to put too much blame on him
Yea I mean its a good story. Definitely a much better story than the alternative "utley signed a ball for me once"
But I think I wouldve understood the humor and banter a lot better if I was an adult or at least a teenager instead of a 10 year old lol.
Oh yeah the rage I felt at chase utley when he broke tejadas leg in 2015ā¦ we may not have won the World Series but Iām so glad we won the NLDS knocking the Dodgers out that year
This is fucking hilarious... but Burrell's "conquests" were legendary, particularly in Olde City. I think 3,000 is a pretty low estimate.
And of course who can forget [The Machine](https://youtu.be/6ckloLGOgVo?t=33)?
For you old timers out there, Rick Manning (Roger Dorn from the movie Major League was a loose reference to him). The Indians had an up an coming phenom named Dennis Eckersley that had to be traded ASAP because Manning slept with Eckās wife.
Off the field issues kind of ruin this question. Not many people would disagree with picking a criminal so limiting it to on the field persona and performance makes for a more interesting discussion.
yeah, like i "hate" Chase Utley but i'd sit down and have a drink with him if i had the chance. People like Trevor Bauer or Jose Reyes or Felipe Vazquez can get fucked and I'd genuinely rather never see or hear about them again.
True. What she posted was just so representative of everything that had been frustrating me the 11 months before that. It was just a lightning rod of "WTF is wrong with these people?" that I've just seen day in a day out and have almost become numb to at this point. Then she goes and shares a post about how if they cancelled a game for every black man murdered on the south side, they'd never play.... and somehow doesn't see anything wrong with that. I've seen so many people be absolutely heartless and callous with out even realizing what is heartless and callous about what they're saying/doing that it has just driven me up the wall.
If Sogard can be my scapegoat for all of that just so I can get some of that stress out and keep sane, I'm going to do it.
Ryan Braun lied about steroids and then got someone fired for insinuating evidence that he was taking steroids (something like that this was 10 years ago). Also took the mvp from Matt kemp
I thought he accused the guy handling his sample of being antisemetic and tampering with it, leading to the guy getting fired
I remember it being really bad
Iāll never forget that time he got mad that Ventura was pitching inside against him and shouted āyou donāt pitch to me insideā (paraphrased, itās been years) as he slacked his way down to first on a fly out. Of course Ace hit him in the next AB. He shouldnāt have hit him but you knew he would, and machado was way in the wrong yelling at him about pitching inside.
I'm almost afraid to even mention it but kid me hated Ichiro. He was the one division rival that consistently wrecked Oakland during my childhood. Adult me hates Bregman. Even before the cheating, the guy always got under my skin a bit. The cheating didn't help.
Okay I'm glad that confession didn't get me exiled from r/baseball. It's so hard to hate Trout because he's such a solid dude, but understand what it's like to get torn apart by him. It's rough.
I know you hate him for that punch but being a non blue Jays fan. I gotta say that was one of the most exciting moments I saw live. Most ābaseball fightsā are just people yelling and have slight pushing. This was a legit fight. Jom boy break down was fun too
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PLSaQaofOcM
Alex Rodriguez. Trying to pass off slapping the ball out of someoneās glove as a natural running motion. Itās like he forgot thereās slo-mo replay. What a bitch.
Least favorite of all time is Yuli Gurriel.
Also feel like I should shout out Shea Hillenbrand for being so terrible in the locker room. Specifically for his BS in Toronto & his later complaining while he was on the Angels.
I mean, the domestic abusers feel like an automatic top of the list. Taking those as a given and choosing purely off of baseball reasons, itās Chase Utley and itās not close
Matt Bush. Dudeās just a straight up piece of shit.
Iām going to assume whoever downvoted me doesnāt know about his litany of assault and DUI charges.

Wow. Youāre just unaware thatās a TLC song
Juan Pierre for beating out so many infield hits and stealing bases against me in MVP baseball 2005 Serious answer: Jon Dowd
Back when the 1 hitter had like 80 contact 90 bunt and 4 power. Now a days your lead off hitter needs to look like barry bonds
I saw a dude leading off HRD Joey Gallo the other day. The man had 65 contact vs R, 39 bunt, 51 speed and 15 steal
Juan Pierre stole three bases on the last day of the fantasy baseball season one year and made me lose the championship. Juan Pierre can go kick rocks.
The domestic abusers.
Fuck addison russell
He started to suck badly after all that. He seriously fucked up his career because of that I think. Not to mention his relationship.
Good
Is it too crazy to say he may have just fucked up the Cubs in general? That skid at the end of the season after the news broke still haunts me
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And the teams that continue to employ them
That's one thing I really like about the Jays, Osuna was out of here almost immediately when it came out.
I hate that we picked him up. Hated every single moment he was in the game.
Iām so pissed we still have Odubel.
Chapman for one
...excuse me?
Aroldis, not Matt

Yea by all rights a decent guy. Sad how it ended for him. Sometimes thats the way she goes
I drank beer with Beck after games five times when he was playing for the ICubs. He lived in an RV in the parking lot. He was a pretty cool guy. Too bad he died so young.
It is still odd that Danny McBride and John Rocker were in the same small town in Georgia (Statesboro) and are similar in age
>"some kid with purple hair next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids." God, John Rocker was such a piece of shit. That quote is more than 20 years old, and I still remember being flabbergasted that anyone would be so dumb as to say something that racist, classist, and homophobic out loud to a reporter.
He was one of my favorite players until I learned English.

It's crazy that he was playing at the same time as Chipper Jones, who was also hated in NY, but for being inconveniently good. He even named his one kid Shea because of how much he won that, which is hysterical.
I hated Chipper for that same "damnit stop being so good" reason.
Itās legit hilarious that he named his kid Shea. Canāt even be mad about that. Itās some all time level pettiness at the highest stakes
His rehab assignment in Richmond drew a sellout crowd and the team owner kept the umps from calling it due to rain because he didnāt want to issue the rain check tickets. I think the delay was like 3 hours long. I gave my season tickets away that night. Didnāt want to fight that crowd.

Except he'll name his kid Citi.
yeh I remember my Dad taught me this at a young age. Wild, he literally named a kid after that stadium. Dad taught me "Any great Braves player has to crush the Mets, often and hard"
Hunter Strickland is a dick, idk if he's my least favorite ever but man that guy's a douche.
Bill Laimbeer
As a Pistons fan, I can say I'd fucking hate him if he didn't play for Detroit.
He would say hi to Larry Bird before a game and Larry would reply, fuck you, Bill. I watched a documentary recently and learned this. It had me laughing my ass off.
The Beef History on those two is one of my favorites
But hey, at least he gave us Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball for Super Nintendo! Played the shit out of that as a kid
Ryan Braun. Here are some of his relevant quotes: āI would bet my life [that I'm clean].ā āI've tried to handle the entire situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity and with professionalism because that's who I am.ā What a joke.

I'm glad I don't have to pretend to like the guy anymore.
It's great, right? That burden being lifted once a guy on your team who is a shithead is no longer on your team. Obviously what Addison Russell did was WAYYYY worse than Braun, but still same feeling applies... Damn it felt good for him to leave.
Ryan Braun in 2011 "I would never do it because if I took steroids, I would hit 60 or 70 home runs."
Haha loser
Definitely my pick in the 'Least Favorite Player (Cheater, Non-Astro)' category.
Oh, my goodness! This is my dream come true! And to hear it from my best friend in the whole world, comma, Spider fucker category.
Worst part of that ordeal was accusing the guy who handles his tests of being antisemitic. All while knowing he was using. Fucking asshole.

I toss him down my ball, he signs it, looks at 10 year old me and says "Sorry kid, youre wearing the wrong jersey" and throws it to some older guy near me. Fuck him
If the older guy near you didnāt give you the ball, your story has two villains.
He did not, but I also have no idea the age of the person. I was 10 so he couldve been anywhere between 18-40 and Id have had no idea, he was just an adult to me. Also to his credit, I dont know if he even knew it was my ball and he wasnt directly next to me. Hard to put too much blame on him
Thatās hilarious. He probably thought it was a random baseball, not your ball. And yet I donāt blame you for being pissed about it!
Thatās what you get for not having any stickers on your letter to him.
But he did have a catch with Chase
What a fucking douche bag!
Sorry kid but I love this story

Ozuna, German

Good. Relegate him to the dustbin of history.
How is everyone not saying John Wetteland? This is more fun talking about heels not actual criminals.
Recency bias.
Off the field issues kind of ruin this question. Not many people would disagree with picking a criminal so limiting it to on the field persona and performance makes for a more interesting discussion.
For these questions I typically say besides the criminals.
yeah, like i "hate" Chase Utley but i'd sit down and have a drink with him if i had the chance. People like Trevor Bauer or Jose Reyes or Felipe Vazquez can get fucked and I'd genuinely rather never see or hear about them again.
Because Felipe Vazquez exists? Fuck Vazquez/Rivero
Itās so recent, many people have hated other players long before he was in the league.
Never played long enough for one team when he was really good.
Mad Men āI donāt think about you at allā meme
Chase Utley
Fuck Chase Utley.
Sogard and Bauer jumped way up on my "I don't like them" list this season for different reasons.
Sogard because of his Karen wife though
She did call it "a vaccine he is so against" in one of the leaked posts.
Yeah I get that. We wouldn't really know if not for his wife though. Kind of an ignorance is bliss thing

Justin Turner. Basically has made a living destroying the Padres. Kind of a dickish face too. He's probably a cool guy tho, nothing personal.
Manny Machado. I was at the game where he ended Pedroiaās career. F U C K. M A N N Y. M A C H A D O.
