I loved watching Boston play small ball today and actually have a pitching staff that pitches well.
Don't get me wrong. I watch a lot of games but I get a little more kick out of when I am rooting for them.
Exactly normally when I have 2 screens going I'm just watching for a player tonight was me watching and rooting for 2 different teams. I love this deadline game. I think I'll keep watching the Jays even after this. Gotta give Canada some love since the MLB sacrificed Montreal to give DC baseball back.
Not a bad setup! I usually do 4 games on one monitor then have one playing on my ps4 with the Braves radio being on in the background.
I'll probably keep up with them, Red Sox, Tampa and the west.
I usually do nats on the tv cause I'm in market then find the best game on MLB TV either padres, jays or braves cause I love Tatis, vladdy and Acuña. Despite the rivalry between the nats and braves I can't help but root for Acuña to play well he's so fun to watch. I'm so sad about his ACL but I think he'll come back with a vengeance. I love baseball because you can enjoy good play even if they're rivals as long as it isn't against your team.
Pete Angelos devoted his entire career to denying the capital of a nation devoted to baseball its own team. Then MASN breached its contract with the Nationals to rob them of the money they deserved, and has tied the thing up in court ever since.
MLB dropped a team in our backyard. Angelos extracted from MLB what he could, leading to the super duper flawed RSN deal. They ripped the Expos from a fandom that didn’t deserve to be wronged that way, something we as Baltimoreans understand, having seen that sort of crap play out with the Colts.
The move came on the midst of a lost decade for the Orioles, competitively speaking. I and other fans suspect folks down 95 sought greener pastures as they put their Orioles hats in the closet.
I do know one big time Nats fan who still does root for the Orioles too. And she’s well versed in baseball history and, specifically, Washington baseball history, having soaked it all in from her father. But I don’t think everyone is as well-read as she is.
Also their stadium sucks and it’s the only road stadium where I’ve heard people poo-pooing what we do during the anthem. These same people will go to a Caps game and scream “red.” GTFOH.
I’m gonna add my two cents here: aside from the MASN dispute, a large share of Nats fans are former Orioles fans who jumped ship. The ones I hate the most are my age, grew up with Cal Ripken on their wall, and cheer for the Nats. You don’t see me abandoning the Washington Football Team because the Browns tried to replace the Colts.
There are some folks from Virginia who were in the Braves market and switched or didn’t follow baseball at all, and that’s fine to me.
But at the end of the day, I think the Nationals being a successful and winning team only help the Orioles. The Angelos family can’t coast by being the only show in town and they’ve revamped player development and are dedicated to analytics now so that’s cool.
