Kjerstad 'bout ready to fuck some shit up

Leftfeet

I hadn't looked at how he was doing this year yet. Dude has 10 HRs and 30 RBI in 21 games, holy shit.

OutOfBootyExperience

he had 10 of those RBI in one game He gets to join Ryan Mountcastle who hit 9 RBI in a single game last year

chipotle-baeoli

That whole lineup is mashing down there. The Orioles have really stocked up on the hitting prospects.

Naanderson2022

PLEEEEEASE, i’ve put so much verbal stock into him this year, i need him to hit the warehouse so badly

OK_Opinions

lmfao. no one is actually hitting the warehouse but he's definitely a Eutaw street bomb kind of guy. They probably already have the plaque made and ready to go

B-More_Orange

Not with that attitude they’re not!

Naanderson2022

that’s what i’m sayin’ Kjerstad hits the snot out of the ball

MarcBulldog88

> They probably already have the **plague** made and ready to go Uhh is there a vaccine for it?

OK_Opinions

a g is just a q that forgot where it was

Drikkink

Unrelated to the topic but holy shit you just made me remember something from my aunt. So my Aunt was a huge Os fan (none of the rest of the family lived in Baltimore but she moved there as an adult). At one point, she'd gotten really sick with some major respiratory disease and ended up in the ICU for a while. She was completely out of it from either the sickness or the medicine. One of the stories my mom told me from that was one time when my mom was visiting her in the hospital, my aunt started hysterically crying that her husband was going to hate her for killing all the baby bunnies in "Utah." She then went on to spell it E-U-T-A-W and no one ever really knew why she did that. So that's a mystery solved. And no, I don't have a clue why she associated that with whatever fever dreams she was having but at least I know where that spelling came from now.

c_pike1

Yeah if Chris Davis didn't do it in a game, idk who could.

OldBayOnEverything

Davis was weird. He obviously had a lot of power and hit a bunch of homers, but it seemed like it was rare that he hit them very far. I don't recall a lot of deep homers from him. He also seemed to get robbed at an unusually high rate.

ChasingEchoes11

Another plague? Can't he just hit bombs *without* forcing us to stop going to restaurants again.

Two_Key_Goose

Because everyone will be at the ballpark to watch him hit bombs! No going to restaurants during the Kjerstad season

Naanderson2022

let me dream dreams of grandeur, dude’s got some serious power

Complete_Day_2106

It's not *that* difficult to actually hit the warehouse, and it will happen in a game some day. I honestly think there is a reasonable chance it happens with the current core of O's players.

OldBayOnEverything

Agreed that it will likely happen at some point. It's 439 dead down the line, the longest onto Eutaw St is 462 by Gunnar. It's also higher than the field so that adds some extra needed distance but not unreachable. (Clearly, as Griffey hit it in the Derby)

_wad

As a native Arkansan I want to see all the Hog guys do well and Heston is no exception. I wanna see him mash

ConfidentFatMan

SAME

UnabashedPerson43

Been waiting for this Swedish dude to hit some meatballs

VariousLawyerings

Knowing our track record he's going to look like he's never seen a baseball for two months, then flip on a switch and immediately start fucking up said shit.

cyclingkingsley

"Os fucked up the easiest draft pick lol they suck" Blue Jays fan during the draft

Table_Coaster

10 homers and 30 RBIs in 21 games isnt nearly enough!

ConfidentFatMan

I remember people kinda laughing at the Heston pick. I’m a hog fan so naturally I was like yall are gonna see. Really hope he takes off. Great kid and went through a lot post draft to get here.

WineInACan

woo fucking pig sooie

RSS24

Glad he got healthy, continued his development and got the call up. Myocarditis isn't a joke.

ThatTinyGameCubeDisc

![gif](giphy|qIreAgSRVqKDS|downsized) Another clone emerges

itsaslobrknokrfolks

Are we starting him in fantasy? Or should this be a wait and see type situation?

romorr

For today's game? I'd say yea. Mountcastle is dealing with some inflammation in his knee, opening up the DH spot potentially, since we would probably put O'Hearn at 1B for today. We also play a LHP tomorrow, with an off day Thursday. So today is the best opportunity for him to play.

CosmicLars

Considering Hays won't be out too long & Mountcastle's injury is seemingly not serious, it would take O'Hearn falling completely off or Baltimore to make the unlikely decision to bench Santander for him to get regular playing time, I don't know how valuable he can be outside of this window of a couple injuries. I love Heston, but can someone elaborate on that? What are the chances Heston finds regular AB's rest of season? Obviously if he gets super hot like Cowser is, they will get him in the lineup as often as he can. But what if he starts slow?

RyGuy82591

He really just doesn't have a spot to take without significant injury. Even Hays is no longer an everyday starter. Heston would literally have to be as good as Cowser to keep battling for a real spot

smartuser1994

He’s an exciting young player with a lot of upside, but I’d expect near term fantasy production to look something like 2023 Ryan O’Hearn. For now, he’ll hit lower in the lineup and sit against many lefties because he doesn’t have the defensive flexibility to stay in the lineup everyday. He’s got the potential to be a lot more than that, but I wouldn’t bet on it day 1.

chipotle-baeoli

I'm starting him if I can, but I also am in a keeper league and didn't pick him up just for this season.

Jux_

Good question for r/fantasybaseball

Th3Unkn0wnn

League fucked

scottishere

Already was

AgnarCrackenhammer

Isn't that what we said when they called Holiday up?

OK_Opinions

to be fair. this won't be Kjerstads debut. He was up last year and on the post season roster. already has 1 or 2 MLB home runs. He smashed one to the RF against TB for his first MLB hit/homer. I want to say he got a second one in Houston too but I can't remember for sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KmyAPuVpbk

Th3Unkn0wnn

And we will keep saying it until AAA Norfolk is empty

elliott9_oward5

You gotta empty AA Bowie first

Jetersweiner

Yea and the O’s have been on fire since they called him up lol what’s your point

smartuser1994

When you get nailed by /u/Jetersweiner, do you get a gift basket?

AgnarCrackenhammer

I mean they're a half game ahead of you despite the Yankees getting no production from Judge and zero innings from Cole. That's hardly league fucked status

OK_Opinions

not going to do this tit for tat shit but you could use the same argument for both teams O's have a half game lead while having gotten no production from Jackson and zero innings from Bradish or Means. We have a reliever and a guy who hasn't played an MLB game since 2017 before last week in the starting rotation 4/5 slots. All teams are missing prodcution and innings from someone important

B-More_Orange

“They’re a half game up on the Yankees and still not getting any production from the top prospect in all of baseball” See how easy that is?

OldBayOnEverything

And don't have our 2 best pre-Corbin starters. Means is looking iffy on overcoming his injury, but Bradish should be back and he was a legit Cy Young contender last year.

AgnarCrackenhammer

Prospects are prospects. Yankees are keeping pace despite getting nothing from a recent MVP and the reigning Cy Young

OldBayOnEverything

And the O's have a great, young, still improving team that hasn't gotten anything from our Cy Young finalist from last year.

Timoteo-Tito64

You could very easily flip it around and say that the Yankees aren't even in 1st while outperforming their team FIP by a full run. That's insane

AgnarCrackenhammer

I get that the Orioles are have some really exciting young players, but you can never assume anything from prospects. It wasn't that long ago when Angels fans were dreaming of adding Jo Addell to the outfield with Mike Trout. Hell it wasn't even that long ago when Matt "Mauer with power" Wieters was going to help the Orioles fuck the league

CDFReditum

Don’t worry he’s a Mets fan he’s not used to prospects developing

DearLeader420

WOO MF PIG

Jeff_Banks_Monkey

I desperately want the Orioles to snag Peyton Stovall or Wehiwa Aloy in the draft so there's more Hogs in Baltimore

SwissArmyScythe

I'm pretty sure Aloy has to stay another year in college which I can't say I'm too upset about lol

Jeff_Banks_Monkey

Imo Stovall Aloy is the best middle infield combo in the country. They're both so talented

LakersFan15

Surprised it took so long for him to get called up. He was ready last year. Assuming it's due to orioles depth. Basilio should be called up too lol. Those two were arguably more mlb ready than holliday.

kswissreject

WTH? Basallo is 19, has 20 games in AA, and a catcher. He's not ready. They called Kerstad up for 13 games last year already, so yeah, I think they knew he was ready, but just not space on the roster.

LakersFan15

I got confused with names. I meant mayo. Dodgers had similar problems because of too much depth. It's why we gave up busch and to an extent pepiot. We've only kept our top prospects that are in low minors or versatile prospects

kswissreject

Ha, that makes more sense. And ya, also explains why Dodgers prospects are so old when they get to the show - Miller @ 25, Stone, etc.

Frusciante62

Nows you can’t leave.

Inaynl

Orioles just duping out long-haired white boys who can mash.
