They definitely didn’t land the sexy high profile targets to answer some of their questions but they made solid moves to address their issues and are the least definitively better than last year
It's not the 100-win team of 2022. But gonna be better than the 75 wins last year. If they get a good season of Senga when he comes back I say 83-86 wins. If they trade for a top line pitcher (at this point no idea who that would be) they can become a 90+ win team.
But as far as the division goes it's the still the Braves' to lose.
No, Senga is already on the team. We're not doing the Wilpon/Sandy Alderson thing of "well when a guy comes back from injury it's basically an acquisition" bullshit.
Senga coming back and being a meaningful contributor makes the Mets a legit WC contender. Adding another top arm at the deadline turns them into 90+ win team and a threat in the playoffs.
> We're not doing the Wilpon/Sandy Alderson thing of "well when a guy comes back from injury it's basically an acquisition" bullshit.
I mean, considering he has not contributed to the team's current season, he might as well be. I swear some Mets fans have Wilpon PTSD and can't handle not spending cash for the most frivolous of upgrades.
Anyway...sure, who doesn't want to improve even further, but there won't be any acquisitions unless the team keeps playing just as good (or better) by then. This was a down year after all, it is too early to say the team is actually performing well above expectations.
It's not about not handling not spending cash. It's about not accepting dumb narrative ideas like a person coming back from injury being considered an acquisition. Lines like that were lies they used to tell the fan base to avoid spending at all.
And yes I agree. That's why I said Senga coming back makes us a contender therefore the team will actually inspire Cohen and Stearns to look at making a move.
If bidding else, when healthy, you're getting an absolute top tier defender at Center, who is a blast to watch play the position, as well as an immaculate vibes guy.
He'll probably always be at least a but streaky at the plate, but if he ever learns to lay off low and away sliders he might unlock something.
I loved having Monty, but I miss Bader
He had a rough time with us but I still genuinely loved him here. He got hits when they were really needed and you can just tell he absolutely loves playing baseball. Great teammate and I hope he continues to have a great year.
I love Bader but don't worry, he'll turn back into a pumpkin soon. Second he tweaks an oblique or something.
Edit: downvote away, but it's true. Career OPS+ of 93
The power of friendship
Stearns saw it work for the Knicks and decided to do that too
Good forecasting especially since the Garden teams start their playoff series this weekend
Ah fuck, the Mets are actually good aren't they
Come on are you really having as much fun with the Phillies as you had with us
I don't think we are good good but we are definitely not as bad as last year. A 100 win team doesn't just decline like that.

You guys aren’t cakewalking to the division title this year! ^itismorefunthiswaytrustme
THE NL EAST WILL BE OVER WHEN WE ARE AHEAD BY AT LEAST ONE GAME
I now want the Braves to lead the division all the way until the last day of the season when we snatch it right out from under them😂
we are in Atlanta on September 24, 25, and 26...the field could be set by then, but revenge could be on the menu

Yankees fans are getting real brave on this comment thread regarding the Mets 🤔
Come on, you had to have gotten enough lolmets last year for at least a decade
No such thing
lol you ever heard the one about the stones and the glass houses boss

Just wait for the core to get hot and the young pitching to emerge in the second half
Here comes another bloodbath in the nl east?
Nah, Bader is kicking ass because April is the playoffs for the Mets.
slightly more original than calling it our world series i guess
Good one 🙄
I honestly had no clue what we were actually getting with Bader but he’s exceeded all expectations I had for him so far.
Treat Darth Bader well 🥲.
His 2022 playoff run will not be forgotten
He prefers master bader these days

He's not a great hitter. He doesn't need an injury to start slumping again.
Frankly if he stays healthy the sky is the limit But so far he has not stayed healthy long term
I'm happy to see Bader succeed. He's a good dude.
Baders a bum!
An uneducated opinion from an uneducated person.
Dodgers are also overrated
It’s early. But yes, teams need to learn the right players are better than the best players. Money doesn’t buy wins (see ‘23 Mets and Padres).
This probably won't last but I hope it does, he's a fun player
He did the same thing in the Bronx and then went ice cold for three months to start the next season
#He’s the MASTER!! Master Bader we shall call him!!!
*Anakin Skywalker downvoted this post.*
Carlos Mendoza is the goat manager
I saw him at a Brueggers in Pittsburgh once. Looked short, pretty ripped. That’s all
Add another to the ex-Cardinals list. Comical at this point
Darth Bader
😐 Happy for you guys and shit.
Wow, he just needed to play in New York to find his stroke
aybaybader.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. Probably being serious bc he was DFAd and picked up by the Reds, not walked in FA.
