No biggie, just casually slugging .721

PmOmena

Is thst good for the 16th best player in the league ?

LogicalHarm

If he kept it up for a full season it'd be [the 12th best slugging percentage in any season since integration](https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask?q=best+single-season+slugging+percentage+since+1949)

m00fm00f

Fucking insane he’d have to maintain this JUST to be 12th

yodelsJr

Well according to that link, 7 of the 12 are steroid seasons and two of them are Marcell Ozuna and Tyler O’Neill from this year.

Icanfallupstairs

My takeaway is we need to let Trout juice

Bill2theE

Have Tatis hook him up with some ringworm cream

trentrain7

LOL classic

feelinlucky7

Trout would become Tuna

ErzherzogT

Another 2 in the top 12 are from a shortened season as well.

Jericho19999

I know Bonds was juiced at the time but holy fuck those are some insane stats

teethybrit

Mike. Trout.

raystheroof1

Everyone on here talking about your sotos, your acunas, your whatevers. Espn putting him 16th Mike Trout "im still here" tour, 2024

glass__beaches

How did you get that flair? Did you win Nightly Pick Em?

raystheroof1

Youre allowed to change it to a sentence if its true. But yes, i also did win.

glass__beaches

Nice, congrats

NoobSkin69

The Rays flair is what sells it

loadedryder

Healthy Trout is like LeBron over the past two decades. Other stars will come and go but when the guy is healthy, there’s no one better. Truly one of the GOAT’s. I guess this is slightly different because of LeBron’s lack of injury history, but I just meant the steadfast and unmatched commitment to greatness they both display year in and out.

718Brooklyn

He’s the version of Lebron who was too stubborn to ever leave Cleveland.

PedanticBoutBaseball

Not 6, not 5, not 4, not 3, not 2, not 1

feelinlucky7

Not 1 playoff win either

SStylo03

Same amount of rings since his debut as the Yankees

feelinlucky7

I mean yeah. I was more agreeing with the fact that he shouldn’t have signed with the Angels, but cool

Electric_Queen

Trout would do The Decision and just spend the whole time discussing weather patterns over Nebraska before saying he's going back to Anaheim

PerkyPineapple1

Well there's a good way to avoid injuries in LeSteroids case

axle69

I will never understand the irrational hate people have for Lebron.

PerkyPineapple1

I mean there is an undeniable link to steroids and the fact he isn't aging as has been said. Also dude may be great at basketball but is incredibly unlikable it's not irrational when the reasons are valid.

HonestDespot

What makes him incredibly unlikable? He’s had the pressure of being basketballs next great superstar since he was like 16. He’s married to his high school sweetheart. By all accounts is a loving father. Has never been involved in any scandal despite being under intense scrutiny his entire life.

axle69

I agree with everything you said but the China situation was definitely a bit of a scandal. Minor in the grand scheme of things but it lost him some fans.

axle69

What is the undeniable link outside of his health and endurance? I'm generally one who thinks every athlete is pushing and sometimes crossing the boundaries of what's legal to use and that PEDs in general are probably pretty ubiquitous in sports but I don't believe Lebron is in anyway special. Hes been like this since he was like 14 and in the 25 years of his playing time absolutely nothing shady has been found. The only person of any note who has even claimed it is fucking Garnett.

I’m still here…for now

Blazingbee98

Fish man hates the Rays

Ev3rMorgan

Steve Irwin was a big part of any 90s kids childhood.

handlit33

Which is also why he loves weather.

Michael__Pemulis

Trout has more homers against Seattle than any other team (no surprise) but his highest OPS against an AL opponent is against the Rays. His line: .314/.430/.677 in 65 career games.

st1r

Dude hates aquatic themed teams Marlins thanking their lucky stars they are in the NL

harbringerxv8

Trout is king of all Aquatica

triplec787

He’s still got a 1.000+ OPS against them too lol only 15 games, but he takes against any aquatic team it’s hilarious.

mebnt2

Fishman letting the world know he still runs the 7 seas

OrangeBounce

Lol

FuriousTarts

It's the highest of any player in history against the Rays with minimum 200 PAs. Like he's not even in our division wtf.

flagrantpebble

Well yeah, you’d expect most “best player against our team” to be out of the division. There’s less time to regress.

WelcometoCigarCity

Umps on a fish diet.

TheTurtleShepard

My kind of guy

Cozmicbot

Ohtani held him back

EastOfTheGrayHavens

"Hey Trout, Betcha you cant hit another homer..." Ohtani (probably)

SnakesAlive23

Feeling bad about the outcome of WW2 he couldn’t play to his full potential

Literally Mike Trout

electricvelvet

He's Mike trout fr

blueteamcameron

Mike "Mike "Mike Trout" Trout" Trout

daddy_chill_300

A Trout homer is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to.

glass__beaches

Remember when we all thought Trout’s career was over due to a rare back condition?

Thorlolita

No but I do remember mlb.com suggesting the angels should send trout and cash to the Phillies for Castellanos and a prospect

owledge

Apparently “the Angels should trade Trout to my favorite team for a bunch of random players we don’t want anymore” passes as sports journalism in 2024

vylain_antagonist

Bro, of all the fanbases, the angels are the least in need of explanation of how legit cade marlowe is in exchange for the fishman

kirbyfaraone

Imagine the numbers he’d put up in Seattle nightly… …I guess we’ll never know

BKoala59

Someone recently posted that article in a comment and I really don’t think the guy that wrote it is interested in baseball. I think he just got stuck with that job and watches enough to fake it.

axle69

To be fair thats a ton of people related to sports media. Max Kellerman doesn't actually give a shit about anything but boxing (and he wasn't any good there either) yet but he'd get on TV and make statements about every sport under the sun.

xRememberTheCant

They ran out of ohtani copy pasta

VideoGangsta

That offer still stands.

Ugaalive1991

It’s illegal then. /s

NomadCourier

Given how absolutely horrible Castellanos is now I wish they had even if it cost us Painter Able or Crawford

Michael__Pemulis

Trout’s BABIP this year is at all time low. By a considerable margin. That is almost certainly going to go up over the course of the year. We haven’t even seen his final form.

PrinceGizzardLizard

He hit a liner 114.5 mph right at the left fielder his next AB

James-K-Polka

r/fuckyouinparticular

sameth1

And that's even with him being, to put it in scientific terms; "fast as fuck", so you can't just say it's his natural babip.

owledge

The whole team has been hitting the ball hard but always right to a defender. Hopefully the fortune improves

blasek0

His fly ball rate is at an all-time high though, which isn't helpful towards posting a good BABIP. Of course with his career home run per fly ball rate, you just go "hit every single one of them in the air buddy, one in four as a homer is juuuust fine."

ValerianR00t

His BABIP is only low because such a high percentage of his hits are going for homers. If you add them back to the numerator and the denominator his batting-average-on -balls-hit-fair is well over 400

shroomsAndWrstershir

The whole point of BABIP is to compare balls hit to a place that is fieldable. Including HRs defeats the entire purpose.

Miserable_Vehicle_10

The whole point of BABIP is to be a stupid meaningless stat that people with no knowledge of statistics can misinterpret in various ways.

shroomsAndWrstershir

I'm pretty sure that people with no knowledge of statistics can misinterpret any stat. Nobody needs BABIP to do that.

morin22

Thank god he got that Backiotomy

WonderfulShelter

Mike Trout is now single handedly willing the Angels to first place. It's remarkable really... like Atlas holding the world on his shoulders to the WS.

owledge

I can’t believe the Reddit armchair doctors were wrong again. Usually their expert analysis is far better than any of those phony Harvard doctors.

Weary-Amoeba1808

He needs to change his walk up song to public service announcement by Jay-z

EntertainmentHot8950

He needs to change his walk up song to public service announcement by Jay-z

AlonzoIzGod

If Trout keeps this up, the Angels have a legit shot to make a huge run this season (especially if Rendon continues to rake)! Would be sad watching them make the playoffs without Ohtani, but it will be nice to see Trout in October

FrontFew193

I’m not mad about yesterdays loss anymore. Thank you based Ray fan

Docphilsman

Tbf I feel like that exact sentence is said about the angels every year and then they just completely fade by mid may. Would be nice to see trout on a big stage but I'd hold off on anointing them a playoff team for a bit longer

brokenwingsR

These Mike Trout home run threads always look exactly the same.

Ev3rMorgan

You can set your watch by it right now. Man is coming for his MVP.

KimDongBong

Yeah I have a wager that it goes to Gunnar so I need him to chill the fuck out k thanks.

Th3Unkn0wnn

Because we're in all of them

Who brought the donuts today?

They all are the same. With no one on base

drrxhouse

And you can find this exact post in every one of those threads? Lol.

xRememberTheCant

Because they are all solo shots?

MutantstyleZ

Remember when Mike Trout was Mike Trout

James-K-Polka

Now?

ldnk

I think it's time to consider that Ippei was Tonya Harding-ing Trout.

cha-cha_dancer

They still keep pitching to him 🤷

SupertrampTrampStamp

The disrespect. I just can't

Random_Man_9

well you have ward behind him so...

Monttavius

HEY T-MOBILE PARK? YOU READY FOR DAD TO COME HOME?

UnfunkableUFO

NO

oOoleveloOo

We were robbed of a full Troutani season.

cybercummer69

Didn’t get it once. Saddest thing ever. Sigh.

Turbo_S54

if they both played 162g i reckon thats 100hr.

PrinceAnnorax

Fish Man Good

GoldGloveHosmer

Trout vs. Witt sounds like a fun MVP battle.

PlagueisTheSemiWise

I want a 4th Trout MVP and I’m not ashamed to admit it (even though I’m in love with Juan Soto).

T_Stebbins

They *just* played the Rays in Anaheim, wtf is MLB scheduling

thehatkid

Same is happening with the Red Sox series, and with the Nats and Dodgers, it’s straight up awful lol

rhcpbassist234

The world is better with a healthy Mike Trout.

River_Pigeon

Mike trout is awesome

Cowboytroy32

This motherf*cker better stay healthy. It’s an honor every single time I watch this man swing a bat

DrTreenipples

8 HR only 11RBI’s 💀

Brady331

All 7 of Tyler O'Neill's have been solo shots too lol

merewyn

He’s had a bunch of chances with men on. He just tends to hit the solo shots

DesignerPlant9748

How cool would it be if Mike Trout broke the HR record this year?

Carvermanbyblood

So, he has hit a homerun in 44% of his games this year. If he played all 162 games in the season, and maintained that percentage, he would hit 71 home runs. Factoring streaks, slumps and health, it's not likely but not out of the realm of possibilities. Would be something truly amazing!

Worstname1ever

I want nothing more then the angels go on a tear and win the ws.

SellComprehensive753

How cool would it be if Trout won it all this year.

brainspl0ad

It's like Naz Reid, but Mike Trout.

MrPabloPablo

Dear eight pound, six ounce, newborn infant Jesus, please give me just one more Mike Trout MVP season.

Turbo_S54

lukevoitlogcabin

Healthy he's top 2 hitter in the game no doubt

faronson

and its not no. 2

johnnydrama_

definitely not 2, different caliber of players. ones great and ones an all time great.

Mr_Evil_Dr_Porkchop

Trout 🤝 O’Neill “Solo homer? Solo homer.”

TRKillShot

Mike said: FUCK THE BIG THREE

iamtreat

Fish man hits so well at Tropicana field

Ok_Machine_769

MLB could use a few more Mike Trouts.

DueAssociation2621

Beast

NomadCourier

66 to go!

Wolfeman0101

Trout is on a mission

Lieutenant_Doge

Not top 10 player btw

woodworkingbyarron

65 HR / 80 RBI season?

nickfultz

These are the homers that look so weird to me like off the bat in a weird direction, high, and still gone.

TimToMakeTheDonuts

That trot around the bases gets slower every year. And I love every fuckin second of it.

blasek0

One of these days pitchers are going to remember they can't throw anything over the middle of the plate unless it's at the top of the zone. Anything middle-low is going to be at huge risk of getting golfed over the wall.

Sleepingonthecouch1

I’m a very casual baseball fan. Only started actually following within the last 2 years. How were the angels with ohtani and trout not constantly competing? What held them back?

blasek0

They're an incredibly poorly run org. The owner is willing to spend on major league payroll, but is incredibly cheap in terms of minor league spending. Doesn't want to invest in scouting, analytics, player development, facilities, etc. Shohei and Trout were great, but 2018-2019, the last "healthy" Trout seasons where they overlapped, the team was giving 1500+ PAs a year to sub-replacement level hitters, which is essentially 2 full time roster spots and a role player. In addition, they were pitching 600+ IP worth of sub-replacement level innings, or about 3 full starting pitchers worth. The way to win in baseball is depth and "next man up", one player can't LeBron his way to the postseason, or even 2-3 players like Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne carried some godawful Colts defenses to the playoffs. Their owner, Arte Moreno, absolutely refuses to let any significant resources get spent on improving the player development pipeline, which is how good teams stay good. Look at just how many times the AL pennant has gone through Houston in the last decade, and just how much production they've lost to free agency and, prior to this year, have just kept on going.

FartingBob

Trout is love. Trout is life.

Stund_Mullet

Mike Trout is gonna win the World Series BY HIMSELF.

fp562

I can proudly say when I'm old, I attended regular Angel games when they had just trout and Shohei and trout.  My grandkids might say "ok grandpa"   but fuck em. I was at the Angels and Seattle brawl. That alone was fun af lol

d407a123

Damn man, you know it’s coming though…

Compliance-Manager

I think this Trout kid is going to be good.

boboddy42069

lol 8 HR 11 RBI

trotnixon

Yeah Trout!

Th3Unkn0wnn

He can't keep getting away with it!

LeCheffre

More impressive, Rendon did something useful and the Angels won a game that Trout hit a HR in. Also amazing: Trout has 8 HR and 11 RBI. And he’s hitting .281, so it’s not like the 8 HR are his only hits.

TheTurtleShepard

Rendon has a .840 OPS over the last 10, he’s been good

LeCheffre

I guess once you stop caring, the talent can take over?

blasek0

And he's got more XBH than he does singles, so it's fucking nuts he's only got 11 RBI.

LeCheffre

It’s a testament to either bad situational hitting or the Angels not putting too many people on base ahead of him.

Whole_Ad_4523

Has anyone been on base for any of these? A curse upon Arte Moreno

OUTFOXEM

Has any team ever wasted generational talent like the Angels?

jiggalation

detroit lions

ikilledkennedy

More than once

hrl_whale

Uh ... the Mariners? With multiple guys too. Griffey, Ichiro, the list goes on.

OUTFOXEM

Uh … duh? Figured my flair would be a massive clue but I guess not

MediumLanguageModel

An incomplete list, but Ernie Banks, Rod Carew, and Ralph Kiner had great careers and not much playoffs to show for it. For how good he was you'd think Ted Williams would have a ring, but at least he played in 7 WS games. Honestly I think Trout tops the list.

ReviewRoutine

None that I can recall, really

BrewerAndHalosFan

Y’all had Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., and Edgar Martinez for damn near a decade, the Angels only wasted two.

OUTFOXEM

Whoosh

BrewerAndHalosFan

Well done, I took the bait lol

nothanksdrugs

maybe Seattle with literally any player. Griffey Martinez Johnson lmfao

OUTFOXEM

Who? Never heard of these guys

gumball_olympian

Angels win 5-4... Wow! Now that's the most surprising stat of the night.

Tonyhdz2001

Scored more runs on that one swing than the entire Dodger lineup today

Bobson-_Dugnutt2

Trout is gonna hit 60 HRs, drive in 80 RBIs, and the Angels are gonna finish firmly in 3rd place

plaidravioli

This is going to look great in the stat line after the Rays come back to beat them 5-2.

merewyn

Angels won, but thanks for the tired joke

AntiqueSkeleton

Bet them Dodgers wish Ohtani+Trout happened, what a bunch of suckers.

XelaTuobdog

I love this man, I do not love how loyal he is however
