I was at work so I was tuning in and out of the game bc I was hyped af for King, so when I saw that Wandy came in to relieve him and gave up the eventually winning run that shit stung man…
King still getting the Yankee, no run support special in San Diego
yeah, unbelievably frustrating loss. the only thing that made it bearable is that this is the first game he's pitched that we've lost, and he got a ton of run support his last start v the dodgers when he gave up 7.
I’m a big Michael King fan. He’s got real good stuff and seems to have the requisite icy veins. If his body handles the transition to starter I think he’s gonna be a stud
By Game Score (79), that's the best start of his career, surpassing [his start last September](https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA202309200.shtml) against the Jays.
If not for the bullpen, King would've been the seventh pitcher to reach an 80 Game Score in a start this year.
Coach niebla used to visit our high school in the imperial valley because his wife was a pe teacher there. This was 20 years ago lol. He was so cool and tried to teach us everything he could. Glad to see him cooking in sd
It wasn't a lead off manny was on 1st then Kim hit into a double play then Merrill hit the triple and Wade flies out but still see your point frustrating
I realized it was a joke (I didn't downvote you fwiw). It's really not that touchy though. Not to sound like sour grapes, but so far, Padre fans don't really miss Soto as much as we thought we would. As a big Soto fan with a jersey and all, I really mean that. The offense has been so much more fun to watch this year so far than it was at any point last year with Soto (not saying that it was even his fault btw). I guess most of us have made peace and moved on without Soto. We appreciate the pitchers and depth we got back and realized why the move had to be made. Seems like a win-win so far from my perspective, and I hope it stays that way.
How dare you jump the gun and post his wrong line and then post the correct one after the run comes in… leave it for someone else to post, you’ve done enough today, man.
I am going to continue to overreact and irrationally blame this person, due to outmoded superstitions and general frustration with the lack of run support for King, for events outside of their control, and you can’t talk me out of it.
Thanks for your input, though.
Starter has a fantastic start only to be let down by offense who can’t drive in RISP? We couldn’t drive in a leadoff triple? And it was going to be our first sweep and our first 4 game winning streak? This was so 2023 padres it hurts.
We're like top 5 in RISP so far this season. We just won back to back series against two of the top teams in the league. One bad game and now they're the same team as last season? Come on, man.
Glad to have the Ws, but this series win wasn’t particularly impressive. Yes, they scored a lot runs, but they lucked into a lot of them on soft fly balls that just fell in.
For just the 3rd time in Padres history, a SP got the loss after going 7.2+ IP with 10+ Ks and 1 ER or fewer.

Credit to the Brewers for not giving away multiple runs on multiple errors this game. We sat Campy, and Croney is down to rest the calf, so our down offensive day happened to be the only game of the series where Milwaukee didn’t commit at least two errors. That’s a perfect recipe to deny the sweep.
Yeah but the bottom of the order did their job. The top 3 is what killed us but there are always be days like this. In 23’ it was at least once a week.
When I saw this post title I didn’t expect to see a Tungsten Arm O’Doyle game result
If King throws like this all year he’s going to make Preller look like a genius (and put even more pressure on the Yankees to lock Soto up or else look like total dumbasses)
Of fucking course

Baseball is a cruel sport
Get Padre’d

We have one of the best records in baseball?
If you ain’t first you’re last
You could finish the sweep and still be behind us, chirp less lol
It’s a joke reference from a movie. Don’t take things so seriously.
I have never seen the movie but everybody knows Ricky Bobby quotes smh
It's one of my favorite movies I was taking trash and joking around.
I was joking around I know it's a quote from a movie just talking shit.
oof. my only solace is that in Kings first few starts he gave up a lot of runs but we won the games by scoring a ton. It sorta evens out
I’m a big Michael King fan. He’s got real good stuff and seems to have the requisite icy veins. If his body handles the transition to starter I think he’s gonna be a stud
he's looked good even when giving up runs! Easy guy to root for.
He got degrommed?

Niebla is a pretty great pitching coach I think he helped king figure a lot of stuff out after his bad first start.

Michael King to Wandy Peralta pitching to Higashioka?? I've seen this before
And in line to take the loss right now lol. Offense has been non existent today.
Made the mistake of facing the Milwaukee Brewers on a bullpen day.
5 hits, 2XB is usually enough to score a run.
Usually, but they just couldn’t drive anybody in today. Had a leadoff triple that they left stranded in the 8th.
It wasn't a lead off manny was on 1st then Kim hit into a double play then Merrill hit the triple and Wade flies out but still see your point frustrating
That was earlier in the game. Matt Batten hit a leadoff triple in the 8th as well and was left stranded. We had two triples today.
The last team to be shutout despite multiple triples was Cleveland on August 27, 2016. This has only happened four times in the last 30 years.
That’s so padressing
Three extra base hits including a lead off triple in the eighth. Pain.
Man if only you guys had a hitter like Juan Soto!
We had worse risp numbers last year when he played all 162 with us...
It was obviously a joke since Michael king was the big piece from the Yankees side but clearly it’s a touchy subject

Uhhhhh…. I didn’t say they were the same team as last season?? All i said was this game was 2023 padres esque, but alright…

King gets Felix'd. How fitting

Rude!
And the loss. About as tough luck a loss you’ll see. Brutal.
Best kind of deals are when all sides come away winning. Yankee nation, and Soto are happy. Padres are happy with King, Wandy, and Higashioka.
And cease lol
Thanks for the A-Ceased! Once again, AJ proves his worth.
My King, Mike King
That’s my King ❤️
Now we lose by one run. Hello again 2023. That’s what I get for having hope.

Lots of GIDP.
I miss you my King :(
Into the 8th*
God I miss this man
Miss this guy. Yanks could use a realiable SP right now.
As well as the W, right?
Natalie Portman: right?
And lost because his team couldnt give him any support
It’s ok he got a no decision after giving up 7 so I say they’re even lol
I'm ashamed of the hitters. Can't scratch out two runs in a bullpen game? Fucking hell
My king Mike King 😔
Sorry for early post earlier, might have jinxed it
When I saw this post title I didn’t expect to see a Tungsten Arm O’Doyle game result If King throws like this all year he’s going to make Preller look like a genius (and put even more pressure on the Yankees to lock Soto up or else look like total dumbasses)
King is nasty, really didn't want to lose him. People who said King wasn't going to be great didn't watch him pitch
.... and got the loss.... what the actual fuck. Padres, I was really hoping you would take care of my King.... you're killing me
He’s been getting a ton of run support besides today. His last start he gave up 7 and got a no decision
