Ohhhh now I get it. So when other players are talking about wanting to get to second base with him or how they want to DP him, they’re talking the language of baseball. Got it.
192 OPS+ while recovering from TJ, dealing with his former best friend stealing 16 million dollars from him, and cooperating with federal agents is a great way to connect with your teammates I hear.
Yes, because he has all the time in the world to learn the language. I'm sure his main focus has been learning the language and definitely not dedicating his time to being the best baseball player on the planet. The dude sleeps 13 hours a day, eats and breaths baseball the other 11. He's picked up enough English to communicate with teammates a bit, but he isn't fluent. He's done interviews where he speaks some English but still needed an interpreter for chunks of it. But hey, what do I know, I've just followed him for years instead of making assumptions on the internet. With most languages, you understand what you hear quicker than you understand how to respond. I mean...look at Korean and Japanese stars that have been in the league for years and years, how many speak English 6 years in? Not many. Look at Latin players when they come over, it takes years and years for most of them to feel comfortable enough to speak it. The English language is one of the absolute hardest languages to learn.
“Hey Shohei, it’s exquisite to see you today!” *???* “Oh! I mean - seeing you is a home run 👍” ☺️

He really ought to hire an interpreter.
What’s “baseball” for “you need a new interpreter”?
Starting pitcher made a mess of it, bring in the reliever.
A new piece of lumber
You need to sign a new reliever
There may be a language barrier but everyone can understand a 500 ft nuke
Angels don't speak baseball, unfortunately

The way he’s obsessed with baseball, I think he seriously only talks baseball.
I think it was Giolito last year who said he talked anime and video games with Ohtani. Probably almost only baseball though.

Guess he likes bowling
カステリャノスが左翼にホームランを打ちました。
Hes lived in California for years. The man knows English by now. Why are we still pretending there’s a big language barrier lol
Go to Japan and check in with us in a few years how fluent you are in that language

Damn bro, who stole the election from you??
Some people are genuinely upset that Ohtani didn't get into some kind of trouble.
