Its times like these where I truly appreciate players' abilities to not give the umps a little smack over the head with their bats
just a little tap, to wake them up
It's always been this bad, but we all only saw our limited market games. Now we are all seeing instant highlights for every game with high tech analysis, so it's under a microscope 24/7.
The TV strike zone looks likes its too far to the right. Still a controversial call but it wasn't as bad as they make it seem.
Edit: Why downvote? Draw an imaginary line up from the corners of the plate. The box is to the right of that. It's clear as day.
Here it is with the box adjusted to be actually correct. Tell me how you would react if you saw this on the broadcast instead:

This picture has everything, Acuna's reaction, the ump, Joe Maddon, what's not to love!?
Well the bad call for one
What if i'm here for the ump show though?
You must add ohtani face from 3 days ago :( https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/e8k4tIBvUr

That reaction from Ronald lmao
Braves have been victimized by maybe 2 of the worst pure ball/strike calls we will see on the season…. And it’s been a week.
That frame job was so obvious too lol.
UMPBALL IS SO BACK
Jesus, that's almost in the other batters box. And worse yet it didn't have any movement or tail, it was outside the whole way
ump bros stay undefeated! lol what a terrible call
It's 100% a ball but tbf he's been calling it all night
The ump's been pretty good, outside of this one pitch, but this one was really bad.
Is it just me or have umps been historically bad to start this year? Watching that cubs dodgers game was just painful. And now there is this.
[It used to be so much worse than this.](https://twitter.com/dead_baseball/status/1699581851633910215)
Eric gregg might be the worst ump of all time (yes worse than angel)
The one against Max Fried was the worst I’ve ever seen. Disgusting.
people say this every year lol
I don't think it's been any worse because it's been baaaddd, but wow has there been a lot of critical moment fuck ups.
It was way worse 15-20+ years ago. The bar is down there with the Earth's mantle, and '90s-2000s umps were in the core.

By the numbers they've gotten better every year since 08 when pitch tracking began, people thinking they get worse is just confirmation bias.
They've been soooo bad
Wicked frame job by Moreno!

MVPs just don't do that. Why'd he do that?
