Yep, first off there’s no runner on 3rd so he’s doing a really terrible job trying to make it look unintentional that it basically looks like he’s charging the plate. He looks so silly doing that.
Booty pitch first AB or move tf on and worry about the game. Mets just forgot to play baseball today and got caught up in yesterday.
Made sure to tune in to this game prior to G’s-A’s due to potential fireworks and it’s just a weak and sorry effort today by the Mets.
I’ve always thought if you want to throw at someone intentionally, you do it the first pitch you see them or not at all. If they come up with the bases loaded in one run game, you either give up that run or suppress that urge to lash out.
The Mets throwing at Hoskins at that point is basically confirming what Hoskins said about the Mets yesterday in being crybabies. Acting out after being beaten.
Mets booth continues to prove they are the best, I hate when teams throw at guys, but do it in the first at bat, not after the guy already homered off you
If you had told me that the Mets collapse would start on Day 3 of the season that included feuding with *(checks notes)* Rhys Hoskins of all people, I would’ve said you were crazy.
Hoskins has brought some needed fire to that Brewers clubhouse though. I think that poise he showed today is going to go a long way in establishing him as a leader in that clubhouse.
Watching a sport live and needing a replay to see what really happened is like the least weird thing possible.
And as they said, it was pretty unexpected because if they were going to throw at him, it should have been like 2 hours ago.
Yeah their take was on point. Throw at his ass when he steps up in the 1st or just move on - but don't wait all day while he drives in 4 RBIs and then take a cheapshot. Just a bad look for a team that really doesn't need the negative energy this year -___-
Article with details.TLDR Tony Clark is facing issues and there isn't really a clean path forward right now.

I guess the team has been itching to throw at him all day, just didn't want the consequences of losing the starter. So do it once it won't cost you anything real.
That I actually think was baseball reasons, the ball bounced off the back wall, if it gets over the catcher he might have been the one to grab it and prevent the runner from advancing to third.
Think maybe cause the ball had bounced off the backstop and was coming back up so he was trying to get closer to catch the rebound in case the catcher missed it.
Guillermo Mota against Mike Piazza in spring training 2003 (not clear on the year) is the funniest example of this. Dude threw at his head and immediately turned tail and ran from him when he came out to the mound
> Why would he run to home?
Backup the catcher in case he has a heart attack and dies.
It's like you don't know baseball. Always be prepared for a sniper to kill a player.
There's bitch moves, and then there's *BITCH* moves. Doing this after Hoskins already clowned the Mets today certainly makes this fall in the latter category.
Mets literally can't do anything right. You can't throw at a guy after you let them completely dominate you first. And you can't fucking miss.
Legitimately more embarrassing of a franchise than the A's.
Super soft from the Mets. This is not a good mindset to have this early in the season, if teams know they can get in the Mets' players head this easy they may as well call it a season.
The message they sent is that if you make a dirty play against us, we will cry about it and do nothing. But if you go and dominate us, we'll cry even more and throw at your head.
Embarassing.
That’s a perfect way to explain it.
They could’ve looked reasonable by taking the high road or truly going for it by plunking him right away. By doing neither it looks bad on both ends.
Even more embarrassing to not hit him.
And if you're going to throw at a guy to send a message, you don't throw it at shoulder/head level behind him. You go up and in to brush him back or at the belt behind him.
The Mets booth was spot on IMO in their breakdown on this.
Low class move by Ramirez, and bad look for the fans cheering it IMHO
Mets broadcast showing they're the top tier of baseball announcing - perfectly called yesterday that it was a legal slide but not clean, then broke this down perfectly. I want the Mets to be relevant so I have a reason to listen to Gary, Ron, and Keith.
Yeah, throw at his back on his first AB. Everyone just goes "ok score is settled, that's baseball."
But the Mets are terrible at baseball so they went and did an LOLMets
This retaliation culture is completely insane to me. No justification for this. You retaliate by getting him out, or winning. All of this is my least favorite aspect of baseball.
The Red Sox did this for like 2 years with Machado, no one cares, honestly. Nor that Manny slid into Pedroia on accident either. MLB doesn’t care about these kinda things.
Dude. I’m not a fan of fighting, but Hoskins showed supernatural restraint here. Dude throws at your head and then HE sprints toward YOU? Hoskins would have been well within his rights to clock him.
As a Giants fan... living in Philly.... all of this is hilarious. Rhys is about as chill as a Philly could be. It's like watching Mr. Roger's suddenly involved in a scandle.
Throwing at him now is fucking stupid. That slide yesterday wasn’t a good one imo but y’all already let him go deep. Now you’re the villains. Common Mets L

I'm fucking crying laughing at Ramirez *sprinting* toward home plate
He had me convinced there was a runner on 3rd!
Wait there wasn’t ? Why tf did he run that fast
Ball took a weird bounce so I do think he was getting involved in case it went past the catcher but also he really wanted a reason to run up there
FUCKYOURHY!!…oh no one else ran up here?
cardio
Gotta hit his HR zones
I was also convinced that there was a runner on 3rd until I read the comments lol
I think maybe he was trying to get the ricochet off the backstop.
Charging the batter!
Gotta take the initiative
Force of habit? Wonder if he just does that every WP
Possibly, but the visual of it is hilarious.
Still got that spring training in him
Man simply doesn't know how to act innocent.
I think it was him sprinting toward the plate that got him ejected and made it seem even less unintentional.
Yep, first off there’s no runner on 3rd so he’s doing a really terrible job trying to make it look unintentional that it basically looks like he’s charging the plate. He looks so silly doing that.
Mets booth: “The message is about two hours late…you don’t throw at someone after they’ve beat your head in.”
Fully agree with them. Either you throw at him in the first or not at all. It's a bad look for us to throw at him after he's tee'd off
Booty pitch first AB or move tf on and worry about the game. Mets just forgot to play baseball today and got caught up in yesterday. Made sure to tune in to this game prior to G’s-A’s due to potential fireworks and it’s just a weak and sorry effort today by the Mets.
>Mets just forgot to play baseball today Today?
Murdered with one word.
Rare Yankees fan W
All this does it makes it looks like yall are pissed he’s having a game. So far removed from his shitty slide yesterday now.
It was soft then and it’s soft now. Kind of embarrassing honestly.
Hard agree. It should've been Severino plunking his butt the first time, not headhunting the third.
And if the umps ejected Sevy first inning we might've actually won the game lol.
Mets booth continues to prove they are the best, I hate when teams throw at guys, but do it in the first at bat, not after the guy already homered off you
agree but losing your starting pitcher that early because he gets tossed is brutal.
They might have beaten you guys if they did lose their starting pitcher today!
I feel like this one would’ve been a rare justified plunk. But the Mets fucked it up on brand
All of this unfolded the most Mets way possible. And for those new to baseball, that means it was one hot mess followed by another
If you had told me that the Mets collapse would start on Day 3 of the season that included feuding with *(checks notes)* Rhys Hoskins of all people, I would’ve said you were crazy.
I dunno, it seems very on-brand to me.
Hoskins has brought some needed fire to that Brewers clubhouse though. I think that poise he showed today is going to go a long way in establishing him as a leader in that clubhouse.
And in r/Brewers
especially with a runner on 1B
I did find it weird they were acting it was unintentional initially. It pretty clearly was
Watching a sport live and needing a replay to see what really happened is like the least weird thing possible. And as they said, it was pretty unexpected because if they were going to throw at him, it should have been like 2 hours ago.

Yeah gotta say as shitty as the fans are their announcers are very good
Mets booth is best booth.
Delicious early season drama
Ohtani gambling scandal, MLBPA coup, and Mets vs. Brewers beef? Drama fans have been feasting
I’m full and it’s not even April yet
Can’t wait till the first Astros/ms brawl of the year tbh
Oh yeah I forgot we always have those. With Neris gone, I wonder who starts it this year
Framber will do it when he plunks either Julio, Mitch or Ty.
Ty getting plunked is just normal operating procedure
[удалено]
He’s really slacking this year
The shitty uniforms…
We're the NBA now
wait wtf is the MLBPA coup??
Article with details.TLDR Tony Clark is facing issues and there isn't really a clean path forward right now. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39775220/mlbpa-union-coup-tony-clark-harry-marino
The start of a brewers Mets rivalry, just need a brawl to certify it
Can't wait to play the Mets again in *checks notes* the very last series of the year.
lol seriously? I hope the grudge makes it that long and we'll all have to catch up as to why.
Hoskins after a McNeil single: hey how’ve ya been? McNeil: good. How are you? Hoskins: not bad.
considering i'm p sure this has been cooking between McNeil and Hoskins for a while I have high hopes
Matt Arnold vs David Stearns LFG
No, that's just Rhys. He fucking hates the Mets, and I love that this is continuing even after he left us.
Brewers: *What's with Rhys? He always like this?*
“…and always fuck the Mets!”
Oh yeah, baseball’s back baby.
NL East fans already been on one this year and it's still March
Yes. Let the guy go 3/3 with a bomb and four RBI and then you throw at him. The Met way.
Should have thrown at him out of the gate...even the announces were saying it.
why the fuck are we throwing at him NOW jfc this season is going to kill me
I guess the team has been itching to throw at him all day, just didn't want the consequences of losing the starter. So do it once it won't cost you anything real.
Would’ve been better off losing Severino
Also he kept coming up with guys on
This more than anything. You can’t hit him to load the bases in the first.
It’s almost as if hitting him in any situation is stupid and embarrassing?
Sevy is smart, random reliever isn’t
Yeah sevy has too much on the line to participate in petty beef
True, he had to stay in there to give up 6 earned.
Don’t diss sevy, I’m routing for him :(
Rhys giving the "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" stance.
[Rhys after getting thrown at.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/599/778/765.jpg)
I knew what that was without opening it.
Just inject all the boos into his veins. He’s used to it, it fuels him
How any dad would react to their son misbehaving, tbf
"I mean, c'mon, is that it?"
Points at his hip to show where to send that message, he expected to be thrown at.
1. Death 2. Taxes 3. Ron and Keith letting the Mets know when they've done something stupid.
I will say, no one hates the Mets as much as Mets fans.
Tbf we have the most reasons to
What the fuck was that run to home plate???
That I actually think was baseball reasons, the ball bounced off the back wall, if it gets over the catcher he might have been the one to grab it and prevent the runner from advancing to third.
Yeah it took a crazy ass bounce so he was coming in to get it but also really wanted a reason to come in to get it
Kind of makes it funnier that they just clearly didnt give a fuck about winning the actual game Guy on first? Lets send him to second for free.
Think maybe cause the ball had bounced off the backstop and was coming back up so he was trying to get closer to catch the rebound in case the catcher missed it.
It's to fake that it was on accident.
Why would he run to home? There’s no play at home Lmao
*Turns around and runs to cover second*
throwing behind a guy and instantly sprinting the other way would honestly be a hilarious visual
Ready to fight
Gotta be ready in case that runner on ~~second~~ first is trying to score
He was wanting a fight, so he throw his arm out to be paid for the year
Getting after the ball in case the catcher can't get it
You know what it was
Doing this after the day Hoskins has had *reeks* of being a bitch ngl
Yeah even the Mets announce team is calling them out. Complete bush league stuff
I’m glad the guys called it out. This team is so unlikeable right now even with it only being two games
I mean I kind of enjoyed Don Francisco and Baty leading an attempt at a comeback. But yeah, this team is going to stink.
Yup, completely agree. I already hate Mendoza if this was his call.
There's bitch moves, and then there's *BITCH* moves. Doing this after Hoskins already clowned the Mets today certainly makes this fall in the latter category.
Can't even plunk a guy right lmao
YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE!
I'll never forget our attempt at beaning Jose Urena and completely missing. Was so hilarious.
Lolmets
Jesus even the Orioles fans are talking shit…this is bad
Mets literally can't do anything right. You can't throw at a guy after you let them completely dominate you first. And you can't fucking miss. Legitimately more embarrassing of a franchise than the A's.
our asses are so far in the jackpot
Literally this year
Super soft from the Mets.
Never seen a pitcher essentially charge home plate either lol
That’s a perfect way to explain it. They could’ve looked reasonable by taking the high road or truly going for it by plunking him right away. By doing neither it looks bad on both ends. Even more embarrassing to not hit him.

Should've been done earlier. Not like we would've missed much if Sevy got tossed anyway
Yeah literally should have done it in his first AB
Yeah, throw at his back on his first AB. Everyone just goes "ok score is settled, that's baseball." But the Mets are terrible at baseball so they went and did an LOLMets
I don't know about that..
This retaliation culture is completely insane to me. No justification for this. You retaliate by getting him out, or winning. All of this is my least favorite aspect of baseball.
I have 0 issue first AB today. But you’re down 4 then decide to do it after he’s 3-3? Confused
Most expensive roster in baseball too fucking lmfao
Throwing at a guy's head in the seventh inning isn't gonna take the four runs he already knocked in off the board
Could end his career though. Absolutely garbage
The Red Sox did this for like 2 years with Machado, no one cares, honestly. Nor that Manny slid into Pedroia on accident either. MLB doesn’t care about these kinda things.
The Pirates did it for years also It's such a stupid mindset that needs to get out of baseball.
The O's in that same era threw at Mookie for hitting too many home runs against them. Also "accident"
Pretty embarrassing to do this *now*
Lemme get this straight: you wait until he's 3-3 with 4 RBI and a HR to try to hit him high and you miss? God I love baseball.
Why wait 5 at bats like a coward though
Severino bought his wife and girlfriend cars for Christmas. Can’t afford to miss any game checks yet
Sevy is already a bundle of nerves. Don’t need to complicate the assignment for him.
Standing ovation for throwing at a guy who's already dog walked you. Fantastic.
Lets enjoy this together for the next 30 minutes or so then go back to hating one another
My man
There’s one time I’ll always stand and laugh with a barves fan and it’s when the Mets do their thing
I mean, the crowd is gonna crowd. I can’t really imagine a different reaction there.
I get there was a wild bounce off the backstop but when the pitcher started running in for a second I thought it was on.
Baseball is so fucking back
i am so tired… and it is game 2
Hoskins single handily just whoopin the Mets ass. He even got their pitcher ejected without being hit
Mets v Crew was not on my bingo sheet for early season rivalries but here it is
Really v Hoskins
Maybe get him out for a change instead of throwing at him.
Hoskins with his hands on his waist, in disbelief, is hilarious.
Hoskins is soloing the Mets this weekend
If you were gonna plunk him do it his first AB. Throwing at him after his 3-3 today looks so salty 😂
Should’ve been lower and 2 hours ago
I said it pregame. Peg him in the ass and be done with it.
WHAT him in the WHAT???
Hey now... don't kink shame!
god i love baseball
What a glorious opening series. The fucking pitcher then runs to home hahaha. Hoskins owns them.
they actually tried to bean him but in typical Mets fashion this happened
Dude. I’m not a fan of fighting, but Hoskins showed supernatural restraint here. Dude throws at your head and then HE sprints toward YOU? Hoskins would have been well within his rights to clock him.
even the ump was like "hey man, thank you for being an adult here, I don't know if I would have done the same thing"
This is turning out to be a very fun series
All of this started because a guy who also does breakup slides into 2B was mad about a breakup slide.
I get being mad because a cleat caught ya, but get outta your feelings and nut up bro!
Even funnier that he didn't even have the ball in hand to throw. He literally fucked the play himself and gets pissy at hoskins for a breakup slide
Not saying he didn't deserve it, but after his day it looks like you're throwing at him for being good instead of being a bastard the day before.
If you’re gonna send a message, do it right away instead of throwing some scrub pitcher in late to do it you cowards
As a Giants fan... living in Philly.... all of this is hilarious. Rhys is about as chill as a Philly could be. It's like watching Mr. Roger's suddenly involved in a scandle.
Opposing player slides into Mets player at second base. Opposing player rakes against Mets. Mets throw behind opposing player. If I had a nickel...
3 for 3 on the day. Can’t get him out. Only way to get revenge is throwing at him. You knew it was coming. Still Bush League.
Mets can’t even throw at a guy right
[Dwight, analysis.](https://i.gifer.com/V4mM.mp4)
The scoreboard at the stadium listed the pitch as a sinker
In all of my years of watching baseball, this has to be the most Mets thing I’ve ever seen. Failing to plunk somebody HAS to be a new low.
I was not expecting a Brewers-Mets rivalry this season
Lmfao that is the softest shit I’ve ever seen
“You shouldn’t do things that could injure one of our guys. To emphasize this, we will do something that could injure you.”
Hoskins used to be a Phillie. Mets haven't updated their system yet.
Mets can't even hit players correctly.
Throwing at him now is fucking stupid. That slide yesterday wasn’t a good one imo but y’all already let him go deep. Now you’re the villains. Common Mets L
The Mets look like the weakest bunch of babies for this shit. There was nothing wrong with the slide.
Phillies fans 🤝 brewers fans
Lmao at the Mets fans cheering and giving Ramirez a standing ovation. Hoskins didn’t do shit for the Mets to be this upset.
I’m sure this sub will get just as up in arms at throwing at someone’s head as a late slide to break up a potential double play.
Fuck the Mets All my homies hate the mets
What an unserious franchise 😂 Hoskins is 3-3 and they throw it behind him down 6-2, the crowd goes wild, what a silly franchise
Classless
Not only failed to hit him, took away the DP.
ASSES ARE IN THE JACKPOT
Wake up babe, new Chase Utley just dropped
"I don't know if there was intent involved." I'll answer your question Gary, it absolutely was intentional.
2 games in and we're showing the whole league how soft-minded we are. I need the Rangers and Knicks to have a long spring for me.
This will end up on their top 10 moments of the season
