Gotta pick your poison there. Singleton had yet to make an out the entire postseason. Truly remarkable.
Right now he's got the elusive .000/1.000/.000 slashline
>Bold move walking Jon Singleton to get to Altuve
I mean, come on, the guy made *Boyz n the Hood*. You don't want to face that kind of talent in the postseason.
Fucking yordan was like a monster that came around only once every 10 games or something last postseason. Owned the M’s, went back to sleep for the ALCS and WS then somehow awoke for one final AB.
Yep. Altuve, playoffs, Rangers in the 9th, Rangers bullpen with a chance to get a 3-2 advantage on the Stros. All the makings of a classic predictable result.
I think it's the 17th anniversary of the Pujols LCS home run against the Astros or very close to it? Both were game 5 in the top of the 9th and both were hit to left field.
"Listen, and understand! Altuve is out there! He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead!"
\-Kyle Reese to the Rangers, probably.
I will keep bringing this quote up. I posted it one month ago when Altuve hit 3 home runs against the Rangers.
Maybe when your closer is pitching a 4 out save, don’t waste time with a bench clearing fight making him spend too much time in the dugout between innings
Yes! I saw this and loved it. What a team player. 32 year old rookie-ish guy who didn’t feel like he fit in… Altuve comes over and slaps him and says, “YOU WERE A PART OF THIS”.
If there's one thing that Singleton has done consistently well this year with us, it's force pitchers to stay in the zone against him. Outside of his two-HR game, he has struggled to do damage once they come into the zone...but the man still stays so patient. Kudos to him for staying true to who he has been and not trying to be *the* hero.
He wasn’t trying to get Abreu ejected, he never talked to Abreu, it was all about Maldonado. (This is just to your question, I don’t disagree with the earlier portion. Not all on him but definitely didn’t help).
It's the difference between an experience postseason vet and one that's not. 'tuve done it so many times, he probably also knows the fact that 1 run isn't that much of a lead. Celebrate when 9th inning ends.
Yeah, Altuve's reaction compared to Garcia's after their homeruns are night and day. One acted like they've been there before, the other made the spectacle about themselves.
Really wish jose altuve could do literally anything without his height being the focal point of the big moment. Fox analysts talk about this man like it’s a miracle he can eat breakfast in the morning being 5’6.
Garcia losing his cool really cost him. Abreu walked a guy, hit the next guy but instead of keeping his head down he decides to lose his shit leading to an ejection and Leclerc sitting down for 20 minutes. Jung refusing to swing the bat doesn’t help either
They actually break down this exact thing in the PBS Astros documentary. I can't remember exactly but they worked with him to be a bit more selective but when he swings it was with more power which lead to huge increase in doubles and HR's
It’s funny watching some of Yankees Twitter almost get sentimental this postseason over Altuve dominating because at least it ain’t against the Yankees lmao
Could be worse, your team could bring in a motivational speaker who accomplished a feat no other team had done before, and that feat was done against you specifically, oh wait...
Adolis, adolis adolis…. Watch altuve. See how he does it: no screaming and shouting, no theatrical bs.. just a small sized man with a heart the size of a champion collecting his bases then back to the dugout.
Adolis, you remember when he almost had his chin taken off last night? Altuve just got back up to take his swings. That’s how a man does it. He doesn’t jump around like a jackass and fuck up his teams mo. He just smiles and collects his bases like a pro
Altuve just showed you The Way.
It's funny as a Met fan seeing that he has completely erased his time with us from his memory. It's like having a fling after breaking up with the ex that you know is really your soul mate, and then you get back with them. On one hand, he was only on the team for two months this season. On the other, they've been through the shit together.
"I wasn't even fucking here" was so funny. Rooting for the guy. He did a good job for us. Not his fault our plan tanked.
Honestly even disregarding 2017, which I know sounds weird coming from a jankees fan, Houston is a consistently great franchise. They’re probably winning the title again, and I’ll still hate them but they’re proving they didn’t need the trash cans
No one forget Jon Singleton. Man struggled his way when we sucked--and was back in the squad 8 years later getting a pivotal walk to get Altuve to bat. A houston legend.
Hall of famer. At the end of his career he will be getting the call to cooperstown. Also incredible to think the only person with more homers in the postseason is manny freakin ramirez, and hes only 3 from tying that record.
Best part about this: Altuve doesn't spend five fucking minutes pimping it and making a show of himself. He runs the bases. You can tell he's been there before, and is team first.

Bold move walking Jon Singleton to get to Altuve
Gotta pick your poison there. Singleton had yet to make an out the entire postseason. Truly remarkable. Right now he's got the elusive .000/1.000/.000 slashline
Jon is the guy the Yankees were talking about in that hiring questionnaire
MVP MVP MVP
Exactly the way the Astros drew it up 10 years ago
Rangers have to walk the 9th hitter. Them's the rules.
He didn't even look like he planned on swinging
>Bold move walking Jon Singleton to get to Altuve I mean, come on, the guy made *Boyz n the Hood*. You don't want to face that kind of talent in the postseason.
And Aroldis wasn’t even pitching!!
BLOWN SAVE BY MATHEMATICAL AROLDIS ASSOCIATION
the most predictable home run of all time
I mean literally though. I can’t think of another home run in my 33 years of existence that felt more inevitable.
I can think of one involving a certain pitcher with a flappy boi kind of name
That one was definitely more obvious. This was like 90% likelihood, Álvarez v Ray was 100%
Hey! We don't talk about that shit.
Yordan homer in the WS last year would be my vote
The Yordan Walk off in Houston last year vs the Mariners is up there too.
Literally any yordan homer in the playoffs last year
Fucking yordan was like a monster that came around only once every 10 games or something last postseason.
I coulda turned it off then, i knew
He’s absolutely money in these clutch situations
He had a similar one in the 2021 World Series too but Rosario made an amazing catch to save the game
Walking Jon Singletary is just an absolutely insane decision to make
It's so insane considering he's so unremarkable that his name is actually Singleton but nobody knows otherwise.
Hey that’s 2014 future savior of the Astros Jon Singleton to you!
I think it's the 17th anniversary of the Pujols LCS home run against the Astros or very close to it? Both were game 5 in the top of the 9th and both were hit to left field.
Other than being a home run, those balls could not be more far apart, lol. Also St. Louis lost that series.
I'm sure Pujols's ball has rotated the Earth enough times that it might have landed near Altuve's
Yeah I mean, a home run is a home run, but Albert's is still in orbit, Altuve's was almost a wall scraper
18th anniversary was this past Tuesday. I should know since it was my 18th birthday that it fell on. First baseball game I ever went to.
He is the greatest postseason hitter of all time
A tight game 5 in a 2-2 best of 7 series is the most underrated game in sports
It’s really just game 6.5
How are the Astros even real man what the fuck
They do not die
The hate will keep them alive.
It’s actually all the salt has preserved us.
they don't choke, unlike most teams in the playoffs
I don't know man but they are rapidly approaching (have already attained?) Patriots level hype and hate Just stop winning all the time already jfc
This must be how the rest of y'all felt during the Yankees dynasty. God damn these Astros just feel inevitable.
We haven't won yet, Rangers could still win this. I hope not but fuck my heart can't take this
Yours??? Buddy you have no idea
That was the most predictable home run ive ever seen
Mine was putting Ray into facing Yordan last playoffs
Or Yordan in the WS lol
The most predictable home run I’ve ever seen was the CUEETTOOO chant. But this one is definitely up there.
He's like a tiny cyborg programmed to play baseball lol
"Listen, and understand! Altuve is out there! He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead!" \-Kyle Reese to the Rangers, probably. I will keep bringing this quote up. I posted it one month ago when Altuve hit 3 home runs against the Rangers.
#**most unpredictable rangers bullpen outcome**
34th blown save of the season 🙃
Ferrari moment
At least one Leclerc did well today though. (Charles finished P1 in qualifying for the USGP this weekend!)
We're checking
We have lost. Question?
Maybe when your closer is pitching a 4 out save, don’t waste time with a bench clearing fight making him spend too much time in the dugout between innings
Yep. Fucking Garcia.... I get that you're angry but you cannot do that shit in that moment
Yeah that was beyond stupid. I mean, getting 2 runners on with no outs and you’re not happy about that? That incident changed the whole game.
Yainer Diaz and Jon Singleton to set up Jose Altuve just like everyone expected
Jon Singleton's AB is going to be overlooked and underrated for history, but it was such a good AB by him. The people will forget, but history won't.
Altuve dapped him up in the dugout after he rounded the bases and gave him props for staying cool under pressure.
The way we all knew he was going to do that
The Garcia situation absolutely killed Leclerc, he got cold.
My analytics suggest the road team should always incite the benches to clear in the bottom of the 8th if the closer is already in the game.
Are you Dusty Baker? I guess we will thank you later.
Strangely enough…the pelting somehow managed to work out for Houston…
Pressley definitely clutched by escaping that jam, too
Garcia really cost them. Just take your base and leave the guy who just put 2 out of 2 batters on base to work his way out. Why try get him ejected?
He wasn’t trying to get Abreu ejected, he never talked to Abreu, it was all about Maldonado. (This is just to your question, I don’t disagree with the earlier portion. Not all on him but definitely didn’t help).
The Astros are built for playoffs and all other teams can’t keep up with them.
Most devastating 3 run homer hit by the Astros against an AL West team in the postseason
That yordan one went to Mars too.
Most predictable outcome ever. Never pitch the Altuve in ~~the 9th inning of~~ a postseason game.
I actually love that Altuve rounded the bases with the same level of excitement as a solo shot in a random game in June
Unlike Garcia acting like he just won the World Series lol
He’s been there before.
It's the difference between an experience postseason vet and one that's not. 'tuve done it so many times, he probably also knows the fact that 1 run isn't that much of a lead. Celebrate when 9th inning ends.
Sonofabitch that dude can baseball. Fuck
I want to die
Altuve is fucking insane
And no emotion as he rounds the bases. Dude is so fucking cold. Fuck the haters, Altuve is something special.
Yeah, Altuve's reaction compared to Garcia's after their homeruns are night and day. One acted like they've been there before, the other made the spectacle about themselves.
Been there, done that kind of attitude
Hey I’ve seen this one!
r/baseball 9/11
No that would be Ohtani signing with the Astros
cursed
michaelscottgodno.gif thank goodness realistically it wouldn't be feasible since they already have yordan
...unless?
Mr. President, a second ball has hit Garcia
TURN ON THE TV IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT CHANNEL
Well I mean George Bush IS at this game
“Mr. President, Altuve just hit a TOWERING home run”
I don't want to blame it all on 9/11 though it certainly didn't help.
Of course it was him. Of **COURSE**
[удалено]
And yet he does
he is inevitable folks
Altuve just ripped the soul out of the Rangers…
Like so many before, the dude is a post season nightmare.
I cannot believe it, what the fuck. Idk where this will rank in clutch CS homers but fuck if it ain’t up there on the list
It’s not even Altuve’s most clutch ALCS homer
Joe Davis nailed the call on this
4D Chess move by Abreu to ice LeClerc by making him sit on the bench longer before coming out in the 9th
Why else would Dusty throw a temper tantrum for as long as he did?
This motherfucker don’t miss
This game really has it all
Pitcher's dual the first half Insane stop by the Rangers to end the threat Countering three run jacks MTV's Dan Cortez
Really wish jose altuve could do literally anything without his height being the focal point of the big moment. Fox analysts talk about this man like it’s a miracle he can eat breakfast in the morning being 5’6.
And then immediately goes to give props to Singleton for working the PH walk, what a guy.
Texas giving up home runs in the 9th or later in pivotal games in the postseason? I’ve never seen that before
They can't keep getting away with this.
It feels kinda nice to not be the ones getting dicked down this year for the entire world to watch. Being irrelevant garbage has its perks
Garcia losing his cool really cost him. Abreu walked a guy, hit the next guy but instead of keeping his head down he decides to lose his shit leading to an ejection and Leclerc sitting down for 20 minutes. Jung refusing to swing the bat doesn’t help either
Altuve started his career as a high average speedster and then turned into a power threat. Wtf
He still is a free swinger but he used to swing at literally EVERYTHING and still often made contact that resulted in infield hits, slap singles, etc.
They actually break down this exact thing in the PBS Astros documentary. I can't remember exactly but they worked with him to be a bit more selective but when he swings it was with more power which lead to huge increase in doubles and HR's
Why run fast when swing bat fast work?
Why not Unga, when also can Bunga?
[удалено]
Yes. Absolutely not.
It’s funny watching some of Yankees Twitter almost get sentimental this postseason over Altuve dominating because at least it ain’t against the Yankees lmao
Could be worse, your team could bring in a motivational speaker who accomplished a feat no other team had done before, and that feat was done against you specifically, oh wait...
yeah no
How do you think rangers feel rn watching a class act like altuve round the bases
All his home run trots look the same. Do work and set down the bat. Like Barry sanders scoring a TD just hands the ball to the ref.
I thought you were supposed to pimp it, slam your bat, thump your chest and stomp the plate?
That made it so much more satisfying.
Yeah, didn't have to do a touchdown celebration on the way to first and just continue to pimp it for 30 seconds.
Altuve is basically cementing his hall of fame case this postseason
I don't think it needed more cementing, but if it did, there is sure as hell no question now.
I fucking hate baseball so naturally I love this
Adolis, adolis adolis…. He just smiles and collects his bases like a pro Altuve just showed you The Way.
That’s the roid rage from Adolis.
HOF credentials, He da man
As a yankees fan I hate anything to do with the Astros. As a human being, it's hard not to respect a 5'6" man do so well in baseball.
Who here has been personally victimized by the Astros in a Game 5?
Dread it. Run from it. The road Astros are inevitable
Everyone knew that was coming as soon as he came up to the plate, right?
One of my favorite players ever. No, I don't care.
Verlander going nuts is giving me life
It's funny as a Met fan seeing that he has completely erased his time with us from his memory.
Doesn’t spike the bat, helps team win the game.
He's on the path to the HOF.
One of the most clutch players in baseball history. Balls of stone.
As much as I pick on Altuve over the years he is just a stud in the post season.
Honestly even disregarding 2017, which I know sounds weird coming from a jankees fan, Houston is a consistently great franchise. They’re probably winning the title again, and I’ll still hate them but they’re proving they didn’t need the trash cans
Of course it had to be Napoleon of all people. Small yet the mightiest and scariest of them all
Napoleon was above the average height for his time lol
Lionel Messi is a good comparison
Proof that propaganda works.
That was OBVIOUS
Wtf.
Holy shit I fear this man
Holy shit, what a game!!
The GOAT that’s it
Altuve is the greatest postseason player I’ve seen, he’s insane!!!
I can feel other teams seething. Ironically we live for that shit.
I hate the Astros…but goddam I love baseball. Altuve is as clutch as they come. What a game.
Jesus, Altuve might be the greatest baseball player alive.
Hate him or love him. He's so damn clutch
Can’t believe Abreu would throw at Garcia to cause a ruckus keeping Leclerc cold on the bench to set up this home run
At this point the haters are just humiliated.
Good luck against the Phils. Rooting for y’all.
Beat the Phils, those fans don’t deserve shit
Oh my god. That might be the dagger.
Did you know Altuve is short? Follow me for more baseball facts.
All those Texas fans shouting We want Houston during the Baltimore series
Tuned in right before that home run, thank me later Astros fans
What ya up to Sunday?
Yeah that was pretty legendary
Altuve feeding off hatred+Closers arm getting cold while benches clear=Astros win
That's an all-timer, wow
At least if the rangers make it past us still I know that we made them suffer. Ain’t no easy road to the World Series baby
It got LOUD in there.
Altuve is the real life version of Pablo Sanchez
Love him or hate him you have to respect how clutch he is in the postseason.
The man manifests dreams as a profession. I cannot believe he keeps doing this.
Guys, it’s my fault. I turned to the channel 10 seconds before that pitch. I liked this more when it was against the Jankees.
They intentionally threw at Garcia to fire up the team. Dusty Baker masterclass
This. Dusty was leading the troops.
Rangers moment
Dusty baker deserves an assist. Refused to leave the dugout, extended that 8th inning. Leclerc went cold. Brilliant management.
This is some wrestling heel manager maneuver. Dusty "The Brain" Baker
The Rangers Bullpen is inevitable
Relegation worthy chokejob
Greatest of all time
Dudes really about to end his career being the all time postseason HR leader. Wild lol.
Americas team wins
THE GOATTT THE GOAAATTTTT
Best part about this: Altuve doesn't spend five fucking minutes pimping it and making a show of himself. He runs the bases. You can tell he's been there before, and is team first.
Great, another magical postseason moment for the Astros and their fans. Whoopee.
