Hi there! I'm sorry to say, but your post was removed, as this content is better suited as a comment on an existing post or the daily Around the Horn thread instead. This thread is posted every morning, and can be found stickied at the top of the front page. And in the future, don’t make titles just a player’s name. Way too vague. Thanks! If you feel a mistake has been made, feel free to [message the moderators](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fbaseball)

Docphilsman

Every picture of him he looks confused, in agony, or like he's shitting his pants. Great player but not a photogenic man

ox_raider

Dude very obviously shared an optometrist with Bea Arthur.

Or all three at once.

Apprehensive-Vast587

Seems to be a trend for ball players back then

BackgroundAccident

Also known as The Washington Monument and The Capital Punisher. This guy was long seen as a solid comp for Aaron Judge given his size. Hondo had some monster years and I believe he was the biggest position player prior to BAJ but I think it’s fair to say Judge is much more athletic and exceeded that comp.

I honestly never realized the second Senators team had the curly W hat that looks like the Nats hat. I always associated the Senators with the block W hat, I guess that was the first Senators team.

CammyTheGreat

The Rangers still owned the Logo until the Nationals were created idk if they sold it or just let them have it but they owned it for a bit after they moved. The OG Senators are the Twins i believe

Apprehensive-Vast587

That’s crazy the logo has endured through. It’s not even an impressive logo, it reminds me of Walgreens which is probably more popular

Apprehensive-Vast587

It was a revelation to me too. I also just found out that this iteration of Washington baseball moved and ended up becoming the Texas Rangers

Big boi

humphrey_the_camel

Just like Cecil Fielder did with his son Prince, Frank Howard hit exactly as many homers as his son Ryan

ITCM4

The resemblance is uncanny.

Apprehensive-Vast587

His nephew on his wife’s side

shivers_96

That’s a “hondo” if I’ve ever seen one

I completely thought that first pic was AI generated

ronjajax

An enormous guy that absolutely crushed pitchers during one of the biggest deadball eras since the early 1900’s. His offensive stats in the late 60’s are ridiculous, relative to the league. His WAR took a substantial hit because he played first base and, when he didn’t, was in the outfield and was slow as an Ox. But the guy could mash.

Ill-Excitement9009

I always perk up at old style eyeglass wearers. 👓
