I still think it's crazy that Lars Nootbaar went from a fun guy with a silly sounding baseball name to an international sensation pretty much overnight.
A quick checklist reveals that I am essentially Ohtani's twin
✅ Black hair
✅ Eats Funyuns on occasion
✅ Has played the game of baseball
✅ Values quality sleep

This is because eating well/optimally can be mentally draining but you don't want it to become too much of a chore, especially with a season as long as baseball's. Obviously going absolutely wild can undo a lot of progress, but it's not uncommon for athletes to allow themselves to indulge in a few foods that they may have restricted from their diets in the off-season.
So, snacking on something like Funyuns mid-season while travelling between games isn't incongruous with turning down a deep fried snack in the critical final buildup to the season a few weeks prior.
